Rasika Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Do not go here, worst drinks ever worst food and they don't
Do not go here, worst drinks ever worst food and they don't allow kids indoors. I mean really in this cold weather like how a family can sit outside -1 degree Celsius! Reallllllyyyyyy!!! Worst place ever!!! Upon that they charged for parking $15 like we parked for literally for 20 Mins, I mean this place is just ripping off money! Do not recommend this place.
We saw Rasika on the show Somebody Feed Phil so I put it on
We saw Rasika on the show Somebody Feed Phil so I put it on our list of places to try when visiting DC. I eat vegan and my husband vegetarian and there are plenty of options on the menu. The restaurant is an easy walk from the National Mall, we ended up eating here twice in five days- it's that good! Our first time we came for lunch and the second time we arrived around 5pm for an early dinner. Both visits we got seated immediately. Very elegant dining room, dimly lit with white linen service. Knowledgeable attentive wait staff. We liked that there are many small plate options perfect for sharing and entrees can be ordered in appetizer and full portions. The Palak Chaat was tasty, crispy baby spinach with a yogurt tamarind dressing and date chutney. Beside this dish on our two visits we tried - Ragda Pattice- spiced potatoes with chickpeas and tamarind date mint chutney Avocado Banana Chaat with date and tamarind chutney Tawa Balingen- eggplant medallions with sliced potatoes and peanut sauce Purple Potato Dosa Butternut Squash Bharta - smoky with onions, tomatoes and walnuts And for dessert we tried the black sticky rice pudding with cardamom ice cream and edible silver We enjoyed every dish, but would say the avocado banana chaat and dessert were our favorites because of how unique they are. We enjoyed everything about this restaurant and will definitely go again whenever we are in DC.
This was my first time visiting Rasika after many years.
Very good experience on a snowy evening . We booked a reservation a couple of days prior and instantly got seated inside when we arrived. It also has a outside patio seating. I'd give 5/5 for the service and ambience. Very sophisticated, inviting vibe. Our server was very attentive, gave us great food recommendations. The presentation was fantastic. We shared the following appetizers: 1. Palak Chat: 5/5 2. Spicy Reshmi Kebab: 5/5 3. Cashew lemon rice 4.5/5 The Palak Chaat was one of the most unique, delicious dishes I've ever tried. Fried spinach. I know, right? But this reading that was so crisp and just perfect. Then the delicious sauce and garnish. It was incredible. It doesn't sound fancy. It doesn't look fancy but the textures and flavors are phenomenal. I got the 3 meat platter. The salmon had a light almost nutty savory flavor that reminded me of pumpkin. The salmon 2as perfectly cooked. The chicken was amazing. For the mains, we ordered mutton roganjosh. It was rich curry that was simply heaven in each bite. Definitely stood out as my fav. Mutton cooked well but disappointed in its flavours a little bit as it was sweet. The mains don't come with rice so I had to order garlic naan.
Restaurant manager, Mr Santosh went above and beyond to
Restaurant manager, Mr Santosh went above and beyond to accommodate our seating requests, whenever I visit here am made to feel like family, this has been my favourite restaurant in DC for the past decade. Food and service are exemplary as well.
The palak chaat.
The palak chaat! Have celebrated 2 special occasions here and have been completely satisfied every time. The food is amazing. Ask your server about the house specialties if you're unsure where to begin. Amazing professional and friendly service. It's pricey, but for good reason. I recommend ordering 2-3 dishes with naan if you're a party of 2. The portions aren't enormous, so try out a few new things and split the check if you're on a budget. I usually dress up a little when I come here -- the ambiance is nicer approaching on business casual in the evening.
We were visiting from out of town, and Rasika came highly
We were visiting from out of town, and Rasika came highly recommended. We had the crab pepper masala, mixed grill, and black cod, along with the truffle oil naan and chilli pepper naan, with gin fizz cocktail to accompany. The food and drink were quite good - though the food was waiting on a service table for a few minutes and not quite as hot as it should have been. Also we asked for hot water, and the server brought out a tea pot which had clearly not been fully rinsed. We finally had some leftover rice, so we asked for some raita. We had to ask three times before it finally came out. So we are singing Rasika for the service, though our waiter was quite nice.
The ambiance is excellent.
I have been to the other location in DC but this one is even better. The food was hot, tasty and rich. I wouldn't say their quantity is bit but is good enough.
Great spot to go with a group for Indian food.
It had a great selection. The chicken biryani is where they really shined. It was spot on. Loved the shrimp curry. The lamb roll was OK and so was the Tika sampler plate. The table they offered us was in the back literally stuck behind a pillar. Not the best seat for sure (although we didn't have reservations).
Rasika is an elegant, high end restaurant with high-quality
Rasika is an elegant, high end restaurant with high-quality food in sizable portions. I was here for a work event, and the waiters didn't let anyone's glass empty. The food was outstanding. Only after did I find out Obama had a birthday here. Not shocking. We all are and drank our hearts out. Located downtown, this place is a worth a visit.
Rasika is a delicious Indian culinary experience in Penn
Rasika is a delicious Indian culinary experience in Penn Quarter that is packed full of unique flavors with every bite. Went for dinner with friends after work and we were excited to dive into some of Rasika's popular favorites ranging from the Palak Chaat, Tomato Lamb Curry, Raan-e-Rasika (lamb mince shank), and their famous cod. The Palak Chaat was crispy and fresh. It reminded me of the delicious flavors of Bhel Puri with vegetables and dahi (yogurt) mixed in. The Raan-e-Rasika was phenomenal. If you are a lamb lover, you'll be practically licking the plate clean with how tasty the masala, curry, and lamb meat compliments one another right off the bone. I can best describe it as savory without being greasy. Anyone from an Indian household knows how difficult that is to master! The true star of the show is the Black Cod! It was the perfect blend with notes of garlic-ginger paste, yogurt, and chili under a bed of soft, pillowy potatoes. One of the best seafood dishes I've ever had - worth every penny! To drink we had the Mumbai Manhattan (love the name!) and the Nectar of Sonoma. Both were strong and paired well with the Indian fusion flavors of the meal. As for service, the wait staff was speedy on a busy night. They were accommodating, kept our glasses of water full, and offered fantastic recommendations. The ambiance is dimly lit and luxurious. The color scheme of the restaurant is soothing and intimate for a wonderful meal to share with those that mean most to you :) Rasika will go down as one of my favorite spots in DC!
Delicious elevated Indian food
Made reservations here during a recent vacation and sat purposely at the kitchen table section so we would have something interesting to talk about while eating. Had a great experience. DH and I split tikka masala, small cauliflower dish, mango shrimp appetizer, chickpea and potato appetizer and the combo chutneys with papadam. Everything was good although would say the shrimp (recommended by our waiter was an unexpected favorite.) this amount was perfect for 2 hungry people. We order Indian food a fair amount but really loved trying several new dishes here. Would def come back if in town again.
I don't love Indian but I LOVED Rasika
I am not a fan of Indian food in general but for my wife's birthday we finally made it to Rasika. She loves it and I love her so... I have to say, it was nothing short of spectacular. Every bite was amazing. Full of flavor, colorful, deep, bright, a true pleasure to dine here. The spinach is a MUST and the 4 course tasting menu was about 8 courses. Great value and great bites. The lentils were my favorite and I don't even like lentils.
Outstanding restaurant week meal
Came here for restaurant week as 2 couples. $65 tasting menu for 3 courses. As we were 4 people, we basically ordered almost everything on the menu and just shared. Everything was excellent and the portions were quite generous. The service was outstanding. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant.
Busy lunch crowd
Order the black cod. A little disappointed that the signature dish didn't come with any sides just a stingy bed of cauliflower puree. It was very good cod and decent sized but, they could've put some side vegetables or a bit more of the cauliflower! We had to order a side of rice to go with it. The chicken tikka masala thankfully came with rice.
Thorough enjoyed our dinner
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. Service was good and the food was so flavorful. Sweet potato Samosa was tasty as well as the ragda pattice for appetizers. Our mains were good, lamb chops, paneer mirch ka salan with a small portion of gohbi mattar. Very enjoyable dinner and would return.
Perfect in every way
My husband and I had a wonderfully romantic dinner here, for at least the third time. The staff has an Old World elegance in their professionalism, friendliness, and class. Water glasses are discreetly refilled, and your server always appears at just the right time. The manager stops by to say hello. The kitchen serves modern Indian - such heavenly flavor combinations! Also try the truffle-oil naan and for dessert, the lovely light date pudding. The decor has understated sparkle, and the vibe is quietly romantic. Even with a full dining room, we could hear the low background music. Highly recommend, and do make reservations first!
Love this restaurant ❤️
Love this restaurant so much !! Every dish is perfect!! I highly recommend it. The ambiance and decor are also a highlight . The service is also top notch! Every time I visit DC I go and I never get disappointed .
Underwhelming
Service was not very good at all. Didn’t see our waiter for very long periods of time. Had to request someone to take our order and sat with empty glasses for 15 minutes during the meal. Food was decent but service really made the experience underwhelming. Will not be back. Recommend passing on this place…overrated.
Delicious Indian dishes
Overall a great dining experience. My second time here and I needed vegetarian food options, which did NOT disappoint. It was my husband and our friend’s first time, they enjoyed their cocktails, lamb, and chicken dishes. Service was outstanding, thanks Mohammed! We can’t wait to be back.
Fantastic food and flavors
We had reservations for a party of 5. We got the corner table. Phenomenal service. We did the Chef’s tasting menu - with a series of amazing stuff brought to our table. From Kale Papri-chat to Sweet Potato samosa to Delhi Papadi Chaat - the flavors were amazing, the rice and breads were good and the curries were amazing. We were pretty stuffed and the desserts were good as well. Washed it all down with MacAllen 18 fine scotch. Really an experience to savor and an evening to remember.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
