Realm Of The 52 Remedies San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Realm of the 52 Remedies is a fun Chinese herbal medicine
Realm of the 52 Remedies is a fun Chinese herbal medicine themed speakeasy tucked into Common Theory. Highly recommend making reservations! I've been here a few times and they have a rotating cocktail menu. I was pleasantly surprised that the spring and summer menu this year features Filipino culture as their theme! I got to try the buko pandan, champorrado, nanay and tatay... they were all delicious and creative cocktails. One of the drinks even came with a little buttered pan de sal on the side (wish it was a full sized one haha). We also tried the longaniza n grits, KFQ, oko fries, and Filipino spaghetti. All the flavors were on point! The atmosphere is great. Service is friendly and helpful. There is a two hour time limit for each party. They give miso sugar cookies when you receive your bill. Overall, highly recommend for a date night or special experience with friends!
i've been wanting to try this place for YEARS and finally
i've been wanting to try this place for YEARS and finally was able to! we tried their seasonal menu inspired by Filipino flavors. the Leche Flan was really boozy, and was made with dark liquors. was definitely not for me, but i still really enjoyed it with the foam on the top. also really loved the inspiration behind this drink which is mentioned in the menu. the Champorado was similar flavor profile, except it came out a lil bit more milky and was iced! the second round of drinks were more light and refreshing. Mandarin was orangey, and tart, with a pretty strong hint of dill that interestingly made the drink more rounded. the Buko Pandan was so light and also a lil fruity, the bubble foam on the top makes it so fun too and this drink was by far the best of the night. the ambiance was perfect, literally felt like i was at a fancy bar on vacation. the service was amazing, the lead bartender had tended to our table and really made us customers feel welcomed and connected within the space. overall beyond satisfied with the experience, the environment, and the drinks!
There's a $10/person deposit to make a reservation, but
There's a $10/person deposit to make a reservation, but it's refundable when you check in with the host! We came on a Monday afternoon and had happy hour at common theory and ended our evening at realm of 52 remedies. It's one of the best speakeasy's in the convoy area and I appreciate that they offer food and drinks. Their menu is incredibly unique and I really enjoyed then taro chips with dip. It was small inside, but we were able to snag a table for 6. Any party above 7-8 people will require a minimum spend amount per person.
Probably my favorite bar in San Diego! Interesting drinks
Probably my favorite bar in San Diego! Interesting drinks with great balance and flavors. They change up their menu seasonally and there's always a creative theme. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable.
A lovely speakeasy that is Asian inspired.
Upon walking inside you are given the background and historical context of the realm of the 52 remedies. Inside is super nice and classy. I loved the atmosphere and the decorations plus cowboy bebop was being played in there as well so extra points. The drinks come out a little slow but the service from our servers were amazing. So knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Constantly came back to refill waters and clear out glasses. I managed to try most of all the drinks and they were great but sooo strong. A lot of the flavors were really mellow which I was a little disappointed in since I was looking forward to the Filipino inspired drinks. For the price being 20 dollars a drink, I expected a little more from the flavors and it being less harsh going down the hatch. An amazing speakeasy to try and would recommend if you are in the area.

Tasty and unique drinks, good service from the bartenders, really nice ambience/decor. I'd like to return to try more of the drinks. Might have to try the food too. Overall, definitely recommend.
Very cool speakeasy that features yummy Asian eats.
The chef is creative and knowledgeable about the various flavors available from countries, such as Japan, China, the Philippines and Korea. The drinks are delish and offer a cool spot to gather with friends or meet for a date.
Overall, I really enjoyed the theme and ambiance of this
Overall, I really enjoyed the theme and ambiance of this place! Walking in, the host greets you and explains the history behind the speakeasy. I enjoyed his demeanor and was very joyful, seemed like he was very happy doing his job, which always makes a good first impression! Then, you tap on the door and go into this hallway, to the path of the speakeasy. I loved the vibes there, it was very decorated and felt like there was a lot of thought put into the place overall. We got 2 drinks there - one being the Saigon Dreamer and the other was Kataso Maru. Saigon Dreamer is the "boozy" version of a Vietnamese coffee, and that one tasted just like that! It was very coffee flavored, and overall, a really good drink! The Kataso Maru was more on the fruity and clean side, the pear taste really showed through. I really liked it! Overall, a really fun experience.
The cocktails and food were so amazing.
Absolutely enjoyed the ambience and service was "gold standard". The two hour reservation just flew by. We were treated like royalty. We will definitely schedule another reservation soon.
Quality standard of mixology that has set the bar high for
Quality standard of mixology that has set the bar high for all future endeavors. Amazing skill set to compose these menus. It blew our minds the first time and still holds true on the second visit. The food also has their own surprise twist that will catch you off guard with a double dip. Black garlic n onion dip was addicting. You'll walk out with some tasty yellow fingertips from the curry. Service is over and beyond. The atmosphere is tranquil and soothing. It's not so much of a secret but it follows the lines of speakeasy. Inside common theory. Make a reservation online or walk ins welcome. A new experience apart from the norm. A must visit!
Best cocktails in San Diego quite possibly
This place came as a recommendation from the staff at Addison. Truly a hidden gem. A unique expietenxe to merely enter the restaurant but it’s not just a gimmick. It flows with the theme of the cocktail sanctuary. Staff is extremely warm. Be warned the kitchen closes at eleven albeit the bar being open until 2a.m. Moderate prices at around $20 per cocktail & they even have premium titles with the same pricing for shots. The cocktails are extremely flavor forward & you can literally taste the tlc that goes into crafting them. Get here asap.
This was the second time I visited.
The first time I went they had a special Korean themed menu because there were guest bar tenders from Korea visiting. This time around there was a menu inspired by Japan. I took my friend for their 21st birthday and they really enjoyed it. The interior of the space, and even the bathrooms, had really neat decor. They even gave us a free Thai tea dessert "clouds over Thailand" because we were celebrating a birthday.
Favorite speakeasy in San Diego! Pro tip: bring a couple
Favorite speakeasy in San Diego! Pro tip: bring a couple friends so you can all order different drinks and sip-sip-pass to try the wide array of deliciousness they have to offer. Another plus: they offer food options. Absolutely love this place! 10/10 recommend.
Had the best time with my two sons trying the amazing
Had the best time with my two sons trying the amazing drinks that were offered. We were lucky to get in one late Tuesday evening after putting our names on the wait list while at the Common Theory bar. Walking through the apothecary room was interesting....didn't know what to expect next. Then we walked into the actual speakeasy, and wow, were amidst a beautifully decorated tropical/jungle lounge with an inviting bar surrounded by booths and tables. We ordered the Lalisa, Shinigami Apple, Mitarashi Cafe and Black Ichijiku. All were delicious with their own little distinctive twists. The servers were attentive and friendly and the bartender spent some time giving us some the history and information about upcoming events. And then, on our way out, we received these tasty, chewy Miso butter cookies that I've been trying to replicate to no avail since then. Guess I'll just have to go back
Not our first time to RO52R, but every time we visit this
Not our first time to RO52R, but every time we visit this place, it's an experience! We were taken cared of by their Lead Bartender "Brian", and boy does he know his craft! We've followed Brian over the years at his many stops throughout his career tending bar, and he's definitely one of the best! Thankfully, we came at a time when before the crowd filled the speakeasy. We tried five drinks, several of their signature creations, and several off-menu creations made on the fly. Sampled two appetizers to help offset the alcohol, and both were outstanding. RO52R's ambiance is one of the coolest speakeasies in town. For first timers, it'll blow you away. We absolutely love, love, love coming here! For those who are avid speakeasy enthusiasts, so you've tried the rest, if you want the BEST, this is THE spot! Food, drinks, service, atmosphere, music, and overall experience... It's hard to beat!
Found the time limit policy to be odd considering we were
Found the time limit policy to be odd considering we were seated after our reservation time and had to wait an hour for our entrees. FYI, the timer does not start when you're seated, it starts at the time you made your reservation for. When they came to let us know we had 30 minutes left, we mentioned how we had been waiting on them all night and they explained that steak takes a long time to cook. I'm not saying that isn't true, but the steak is not a thick cut and we asked for it "medium", not "well done". Also, why not disclose that when people are ordering? A heads up would be nice. It's stressful to know you're under a time constraint when you have zero control of the situation because it's not up to you when the food comes out, only how fast you can eat it once it does come out. We were there to celebrate a special occasion and not once was it acknowledged, which I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say perhaps it wasn't their fault and maybe it's just the way the reservations come through. It just seemed unusual because it's always been acknowledged everywhere else where I've been asked when making the reservation if it is for a special occasion. I also didn't understand the "family style" term used throughout the menu and that the server also referred to. None of these dishes are large enough to be shared or considered "family style", besides maybe the tempura veggies, which are listed as a side, but are more of an appetizer. To enter the restaurant, you are first brought into a room where they tell you a little bit about the place, but because the entrance is also the exit, while we were in there, a group was exiting and they were talking loudly and laughing, so we missed what the hostess said. Not a big deal and I know a lot of places use the same entrance as an exit, but because the hidden entrance is usually a big part of a speakeasies' appeal, you would think they would try to streamline this process to avoid having all sorts of guests in one room at the same time. The food and drinks are good, but overall, for the price point, there is a lot left to be desired. I know to a lot of people spending $500 on a dinner for 4 isn't a lot, so if you have that type of disposable income and don't mind feeling rushed, you will probably enjoy yourself. But for those of us who reserve an outing like this only for special occasions, I recommend you save your hard-earned money for a place that is worth it and here in San Diego they aren't hard to find.
The Realm of the 52 Remedies is nothing short of phenomenal.
The highlight of my four day trip in San Diego. It actually took me and my friends a minute to find. No signs. GPS confused us for a second. Some legitimate speakeasy vibes for you. All I see is a normie sports bar. So we walked around the plaza for a second before I summed up the courage to curb my social anxiety and walk into the sports bar to ask, and there it was in all of its glory: the glowing white door of the Realm of the 52 Remedies. psa: your reservation deposit is actually a deposit which is quickly refunded. After a short wait, we were welcomed into a room. And what an experience that was. We were told a fun story about the birth of this speakeasy and how it developed its awesome vibe with inspiration from Chinese and Japanese culture and medicine. I won't say much more to avoid spoiling the fun. The interior design is on point. It just feels good to sit here to have a drink with your buddies. The bar played was soft, slow modern rnb. Not too on the nose with the Asian theme haha. The service is incredible. Our server gave brief, apt descriptions of the drinks we ordered. Even the bathrooms are epic. I ordered their ever popular Saigon Dreamer. Complex in flavor, nutty, sweet, silky and elegant. My friends had Lalisa, Earl Grey, Kikufuku, and Awayuki Royal Milk. The latter two being exclusive to their FW23 menu: Inspired by Japanese Culture. I'd not only come back a hundred times over, it'd be my first destination on my next visit to San Diego.
Outstanding cocktails, appetizers, ambiance and customer
Outstanding cocktails, appetizers, ambiance and customer service. Located by convoy, this is a pleasant place to end the night. The outside of the speakeasy has a great ambiance and a good selection of beer. Upon arrival to the speakeasy we were promptly greeted and started our experience. My cocktail was light, refreshing and tasty! Our server (lead manager) was also kind enough to walk us through the menu and lets us know a little history behind the crafting of our cocktails ordered. This place is a must check out!

My favorite bar in SD! Incredible interior and vibes, really unique food and drinks (and it was all delicious! The staff were incredible -- Brandon was particularly accommodating and amazing! 10/10 this is a must-go if you're into SD nightlife/speakeasy culture
Realm of the 52 Remedies stands out as one of the top
Realm of the 52 Remedies stands out as one of the top speakeasy bars in San Diego. Overall, I was really impressed with my experience. You will definitely need reservations to visit. The reservations book up relatively quickly so recommend booking as fast as you can. We didn't order food on this visit but order a couple of rounds of cocktails. The cocktails were great. The standout was their Awayuki Royal Milk which was essentially spiked strawberry milk. It came topped with a strawberry wafer. Inside of the place looked great too! Before you will into the lounge, the host will provide you a backstory on the history and how the cocktails are crafted.
We had an 11pm reservation, but we still had to wait 15
We had an 11pm reservation, but we still had to wait 15 minutes for our table to be ready. I didn't have an issue with it, and the hostess was very apologetic. The hostess lead us into a bright white room and explained a little about the inspiration behind this speakeasy. The entrance, the path leading inside and the decorations inside were cool and theatrical. This experience and its drinks sets this bar apart from others. The drinks itself are pieces of art because they are carefully curated by passionate artisans. The ingredients that make up the drink do not sound like they would go well with each other, but it does!! For example, the Shinigami Apple is shaken with Fontina cheese to create a more velvety finish. I also like that the menu explains the inspiration behind each drink (I did enjoy the anime references). My favorite drink was the Kasato Maru. The combination of ingredients made the drink taste like lychee, but there was no lychee used. Anyways I would totally go back to try every drink. This is a place for people who are adventurous and like to try new things. Just to note, the kitchen closes at 11pm on weekends. So we did not get to try any of the food, though I've heard very good things about it. Also, parking is limited. The parking lot is small compared to all the businesses that use it for their customers.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
