These are The Best, most tasty and delicious wings I've had in a long time! Maybe the tastiest I've ever had! You must try these wings! I will definitely go back to have some of the other items on the menu! Delish!!! The service was quick and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing.

After enjoying Red Rooster several times previously, we planned this dinner with out of town friends several weeks ago. As always staff was gracious and professional. But when our entrees arrived after we had barely tucked into our appetizers and cocktails, the experience became decidedly rushed and vaguely reminiscent of a diner. Also disappointing was the limited menu particularly the elimination of more creative dishes and in particular the signature meatballs which were a favorite. Fried chicken is fun but one expects more selection at a fine restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyHands down one of the best fried chicken places in NYC.
My party and I walked in at 6pm on a Monday and were able to get a table. Not only is their food delicious, they even had a live band performing! We got dinner and a show. The waiters were also very kind. The Chicken and Waffles were everything I wanted in the dish. The breading of the chicken makes this chicken different from other places. The Mac and Greens were another highlight. The cornbread was solid but not as outstanding as the other dishes I tried.I highly recommend checking this place out! Great vibes, food, and service.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service.
Love the food and the drinks. It's a little pricey but it was a wonderful experience all around !

I was very excited to visit Marcus's new restaurant in Harlem, after having enjoyed Akvavit many years ago at my last visit to NYC.Two very different places: the upscale Scandi restaurant and the laid back soul food casual spot.We had the catfish, which definitely won first place, second the lobster roll, almost as good as in Maine. Third the roasted cauliflower, deliciously spicy and perfectly cooked. The rest of our dishes were ok, everybody raves about the fried chicken, but I honestly thought it was too greasy and overcooked. The ceviche was too sour from limes, but still won because of the awesome seared baby Bibb lettuce accompanying the dish. We didn't have dessert, just coffee, which tasted like instant coffee, didn't ask.Our server was nice and professional and we spent about two hours on a lunch for four people.

Though you may not need reservations, I would recommend doing so as this place got real busy, fast. We started with the cornbread and deviled eggs. That cornbread was dense, but chewy and perfectly sliced. That tomato and corn butter was something else though, as in it added the right amount of zest to the bite of cornbread. Those deviled eggs aren't your mom's, unless your mom makes them like this. The crispy onion pieces and capers were the best addition to these eggs. I'm not a fan of capers, but these were lent overly salty and complemented the eggs well. For entrees, we opted for the infamous chicken and waffles. They did not disappoint with the chicken skin being ridiculously crispy. The hot sauce was also great and buttery. Pretty mild, but was nice. The fried catfish with black eyed peas was pretty luxurious in flavor. The black eyed peas just had the complex flavor that elevated the fish. The bucatini Piccadilly was nice, though I expected more flavor. I got the lemon, but it lacked that brightness of flavor to coat those thick noodles. Was jam packed with protein, but wished it had more than a lemon flavor. The Mac n greens were nice and cheesy. First time I've had greens in some Mac, but I see the vision. The sangria was wonderfully refreshing with all the pineapple and the old fashioned was a hit. Overall, try this place. You'll find something in the menu you'll like and the portions are great to even split, if you'd like. Do yourself a favor and make reservations.
Be the first to ReplyI like Red Rooster, but it's a hit or miss sometimes.
I've eaten there and it was fantastic and I've eaten there at other times and it was disappointing. I wish it was more consistent because I would love to give them five stars, given they deserve it on their good days. The vibe is chill during the day, but I have also been there during a couple of their evening parties and it was pretty fun. The staff is always nice and the service has been good every time I've been there. I just need consistency!! If every day is a good day, everything on the menu is delicious!

This was a busy and cute spot! The food portions was good and pricing was reasonable. Our server was very knowledgeable. The only thing I didn't care for was the apple pie but I think that has to do with my taste buds and not the restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent fried chicken sandwich.
Excellent fried chicken pieces - delicious batter.Good mac + cheese.Good cocktails overall; well mixed, not too strong. Not so good fries - pass. Not so good hot sauce - it tastes like sweet buffalo.
Be the first to ReplyRed Rooster is a modern Harlem staple.
I went with my dad and boyfriend and we hardly made it through 5 pieces of the Chicken Tower. We got brunch drinks and I doubt there was alcohol, but it was tasty enough. I would recommend getting a reservation if you go because they get really busy, especially on the weekends. Overall, this is a great spot to go with family or friends.
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming here for years and it's a bit every time.
Yesterday was a warm, beautiful day so we sat outdoors and all the food was great! Music and service alway on point, you gotta come
Be the first to ReplyWe live a block away.
Drinks in the bar on nights with live music are worth it, but dinner service is beyond terrible. Tonight we never even saw a server. The nice host took our order, bartender delivered our drinks, and 2 different runners delivered our food. When we were ready to leave we had to ask 3 different people to get us our check, because WE NEVER SAW A SERVER.The food is decent, but not the kind of food served when Samuelson was a hands on owner. Now it's fried chicken and hamburgers and Marcus' books for sale. There is much better service at places within a few blocks with equal or better food. Try one of them instead.
Be the first to ReplyWe were seated immediately upon arriving.
Our waitress was attentive and made great food and drink recommendations. The shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles were delicious. I'd also recommend the Jamaican punch. Everything was served "piping" hot. The jazz band and music played after were lively and upbeat. Its also very easy to get to from Time Square.

You cannot come to Harlem and not stop at Red Rooster! The fried chicken was the best I ever eaten on the side the Mac and greens a winner. My husband wanted to take a burger on the plane back to Cali. Kenya help to make our selections. Thanks Red Rooster!
Be the first to ReplyVisiting NYC for my mom's birthday and decided to escape
Visiting NYC for my mom's birthday and decided to escape Manhattan for a different NYC experience. I'm trying to figure out why this spot has such a low star rating. Phenomenal is an understatement. This restaurant delivered on so many levels! The service was impeccable. The restaurant was noticeably busy, but we'd made reservations and were sat within 5-10 mins of arrival. The hostess was warm and accommodating, setting the stage for our server Cedric who took such good care of us. Cedric laid out all of the recommendations and didn't miss! The drinks and food were served QUICKLY and crazy fresh!! For drinks we had the Stoner and the Peach Tea whiskey cocktail. The Stoner was a boozier drink but neither really disappointed. Then we had the corn bread (tasted like a corn light bread - IYKYK), Mac and collards (yes, they're mixed together), yardbird by the piece, and the jerk salmon. The cornbread is delicious, and you're served two fairly large slices that 4 people could share. The mac and collards can also be shared. It's an interesting take on mac and cheese and collard greens that was surprisingly very good. And to round it out the salmon and the yardbird also held it down. Any of these dishes can stand alone they're that good and filling! Don't mind the star rating. This is it!! Good music, good energy! It's a bit noisy, but the ambiance is a vibe. And servers are wearing masks. I highly recommend.

It was my first time coming here and I was not disappointed! As soon as we sat down our server Michael was super attentive. The food was beyond delicious. I look forward to coming back.
Be the first to ReplyI'm going to assume it's bc of the prolonged pandemic but
I'm going to assume it's bc of the prolonged pandemic but this place has gone down hill as I've been here plenty over the last 5-10 years. I was there in October and it was OK and again last night and it was meh. 9pm reservation (seated right away) but so, so rushed. Drinks 905; app came les than 5 minutes later; and then dinner served by 9:20. Wouldn't you like us to enjoy and taste our meal - food is to be enjoyed? I had shrimp and grits and my friend had steak frites - steak was aoooooo tough! Thank god my dog wouldn't mind the leftovers but for the price of this joint; it should be better. Food was delivered 5 minutes after we placed the order so I know it was not cooked to order and explains why the "resting" steak was so damn tough. Red rooster is now a Harlem has-been!
Be the first to ReplySo sorry, terrible food.
.. terrible... I won't be coming back. All the great food in Harlem, this is far most the worst experience I've had.
Be the first to ReplyRed Rooster was the first dinner stop that my husband and I
Red Rooster was the first dinner stop that my husband and I made on our recent trip to NY. We started with a couple of cocktails; he ordered the bourbon Negroni which was strooong while I ordered the King's Blood which was sweet and boozy and dangerously good. We then ordered the cornbread that was served warm and buttered with a side of roasted tomato and corn butter. It was moist on the inside and had a nice crispy edge which was favorite part. The hubby ordered the catfish which was a beautiful filet battered and pan fried crisp. It was laid out on a big plate of stewed black eye peas that had a kick to them and topped with a bright pickled salad to help cool those beans off. I ordered a side of the collard greens and a piece of the fried chicken. Whatever they're putting in those collard greens is on point. They were topped with crispy onions and had a sweet and vinegar note which added a nice pop to the bite. I ate my weight in collards that night and loved the chicken which was tender on the inside with a nice crispy skin that was both sweet and spicy. The server was delightful and took very good care of us that night. Make reservations, come hungry and leave satisfied.

My first time at red rooster, love it!!!Great restaurant, i went with a party of 12 last night(Wednesday), the food was incredible, one of our guest ordered for the table, she did an excellent job, we had fried chicken, cornbread, deviled eggs ect,. All were amazing. Drink... 100% fabulous, dont recall the name but the drink was red on a small martini glass, yummy!!!! Service was flawless even though our server was super busy he manage to cater and provide more than service, funny guy too, lol. Will def be back soon. Hasta la vista red rooster.

Food is always great ambience is amazing but today's waiter was definitely not good. Jiro was is very preoccupied and not great as a server. Forgot to check on us and was very quick and snappy. I will absolutely be back but I will ask not to have Jiro as my waiter
Be the first to ReplyFried Chicken and waffles to go was terrible.
The chicken leg and thigh attached was huge! I took it home and it was blood red raw in the middle. I took it back and after the manager looked at it and saw that it was raw he tried to give me a partial reimbursement because I ate the waffle and nibbled on the outside of that HUGE partially cooked chicken leg! Trifling, insulting and poor business acumen. NEVER AGAIN!!

First time dining here got there one hour Early for our reservation hostess was very Polite and friendly we were seated in less than ten minutes our server was also very attentive and polite and checked on us every few minutes the food was good the portions were was a bit small but i should have ordered side dish
Be the first to ReplyThis was our best experience in New York.
The food was so flippin good. Somehow the simplest ingredients were turned into mouth watering plates. We started with the deviled eggs. Let me just say I want to eat those every day of my life. They were so perfect it's hard to explain. We got the Mac and greens. Holy moly. I was not expecting to enjoy that as much as I did. It was perfectly seasoned and creamy. My husband got the chicken by the piece. He was not expecting it to be as big of a piece as it was. He said it was somehow sweet and delicious. I got the cauliflower. First. Thanks for having a vegetarian dish that wasn't mushroom based. Second. Yuuuuuuuummmmmm. It was spicy but didn't burn the crap out of my mouth. There was still flavor and not just hot. The drinks were also to die for. Perfectly mixed in my opinion. I would eat here again and again if we could.
