Residents Cafe & Bar Washington Reviews from The Last Year

There is a reason this place is known for its espresso martinis. I didn't even get a picture because I drank it so fast. The waiter was so kind and gave great recommendations. We sat on the patio so it was good to have that outdoor with shade option. The food was incredible so many good flavors!
Ambiance was nice, but the food was disappointing.
I got the Turkish eggs and Espresso martini. They were both good but nothing spectacular, especially at that price point. I sat on the patio, and it was very hot. There were a few fans outside, but the DC heat made it an an uncomfortable experience.

Residents is aesthetic with fun drinks in huge glasses and pretty colors. On my first visit, I treated my sister for her 21st birthday but it struck me as overpriced and not quite the experience I had wanted to share with her. I came again for drinks with friends, which confirmed that the food is not satisfying and the decor feels artificial.
I can't say enough great things about this dining
I can't say enough great things about this dining experience. The ambiance and decor really set the tone. The food was the most amazing compliment to the rest. Beautifully plated, large portions of very delicious food. I'll be back to try the seasonal menu and seasonal decor. We are not professional photographers. These were our actual plates lol!

Make sure you make a reservation to sit outside on the patio at residents!! The ambiance is amazing and the decoration is so cute. They have funky seating and fun pillows. The service was great and our server was very attentive to our needs. I got the smashed avocado toast and it hit the spot! It's super easy to get to, right off the DuPont circle. I would definitely recommend residents cafe!
Super cool hip place in the cut.
We opted for the indoor seating upstairs away from all this summer heat. The vibe is laid back and its kinda tight but very intimate. Food was amazing- highly recommend the Branzino fish- they have a seasonal menu so things are constantly changing.

Loved this patio so much! It was a hot day but the energy on the patio was still wonderful. Our server was very kind and her relaxed energy made the dining experience lovely. The food was delicious and the coffees were refreshing! I loved the variety of vegetarian options I was able to pick from! My friend was able to be accommodated for a gluten intolerance though did say the gf bread was not as crispy as she would have liked. Overall, a great restaurant that I will make sure to return to!
I called before I came to make sure there was seating, wifi
I called before I came to make sure there was seating, wifi and that they accepted cash (yes, yes, and yes). The girl on the phone was mad cool so I already peeped the vibe. I showed up at 5:50 and was seated outside immediately. It was pretty quiet only a few tables. It filled up fast though within 30 min of me being there. The service was impeccable. It is the most dreamy patio/outdoor seating place I've ever seen. The drinks? Perfect (no ...fr) food? Perfect (I'm so serious) There were a lot of groups, some couples and then there was me lol. I would do it again solo, with my girls or on a date. Mixed crowd, younger twenties up to mid 50's it seemed. I ordered: the Bee #4 to drink (x2) Bowl of fries Salmon crudo Crispy Artichoke 10/10 No notes. No complaints. $110.88 was my total and that is including the 20% service charge (tip?) they put in there. I'm not from here so idk if I was supposed to tip on top of that but I did. Anyways, money well spent!

This place has a pretty nice ambiance, friendly service, and delicious food. The interior was quite loud and the lighting was a bit kind of sterile, but it beat sitting in the heat. Next time, I'd rather sit at the bar. We came for brunch, so we didn't try their cocktails (although I'm dying to come back for their gorgeous looking espresso martini). However, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We split the French toast bites, which were 5/5, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, absolutely scrumptious, and paired with a rich dulce sauce. I'm glad we split this as an app because it's quite large and sweet - too much for a meal unless you've got a serious sweet tooth! We also each ordered the Turkish breakfast: 4/5. I loved the creaminess of the labneh and eggs paired with the red pepper and sauce, and the portion was huge. However, the caveat is that I wish another protein was included to break up the - at times - monotonous texture and flavor.

This place definitely has a line out the door and is always full. You'll need a reservation ahead of time to get in. I think the servers were pretty nice and quick with service. I had the lamb dinner which was very good and started with the croquettes. The food was all very flavorful and yummy but I felt like the portions were a bit small. It could have been 5 stars if I felt I was given the right portion of food for how expensive it was.
Over-rated, service very poor.
Over-rated. Service very poor. Went there for dinner and while the food was good I thought the service was sub-par. We had to ask a couple of times for tap water, the wine bottle and the waiters cleared the plates while people were not done with their meals. That was very rude.
All of Us Had a Wonderful Time
We took our daughter and her family to this restaurant. It has a very interesting menu and everyone loved their entrees. Unfortunately the portion size for the entrees were not satisfactory for the men in our group and they are not real big eaters. We sat upstairs at a fun table with a banquette and lovely pillows. The waiter was great and the music was energetic and fun.
Unique, Beautiful, Delicious
This place is an absolute MUST go in DC! The food combines absolutely delicious unique flavors and a beautiful presentation. They decorate for every season and it was stunning during the cherry blossom season! The espresso martini was the best I ever had along with many other gorgeous carefully crafted cocktails. We had the burrata which had a combo of flavors Iβve never tasted before , out of this world. The octopus and gnocchi were also insanely delicious. Definitely make a reservation during your trip to DC! (There is sidewalk booth seating but only book that if you know the weather will be nice otherwise youβll freeze). All other seating is gorgeous! Book the heated covered patio if you can for the best decor.
The Turkish eggs and espresso martini exceed the hype.
The menu is small but excellently curated

This place is legit!! Me and the bestie needed a chill place to talk and catch up on life, after having brunch at a very lively restaurant..so we looked for a nearby coffee shop-like spot, and we turned to trust-y ole yelp. Residents cafe was already bookmarked on my list, I made a quick reservation and we were quickly seated. The service was spectacular..and attentive, and our server made excellent recommendations. I would describe as a modern kinda-hipster like spot..with cozy nooks and a heated outdoor cove. We only enjoyed drinks, even though our full intention was to have dessert..but their dessert option was not extensive, and my friend does not eat dairy, so it was a "pass" for us. My bestie enjoyed her Mandarin mocktail, and I enjoyed both espresso martini and latte. I look forward to trying out the food... Highly recommend!
Great ambiance, tasty cocktails, beautiful outdoor dining
Great ambiance, tasty cocktails, beautiful outdoor dining area,so cozy. Not 5 stars, as the food was tiny bit disappointing, I had better. But overall if you are coming for good time and light snacks with friends or a date, I would highly recommend!

This place is great for drinks! As a vegetarian I do not think it was the best for food but the ambience is phenomenal. I definitely recommend making a reservation here as there are not many seats inside and it gets very busy very quickly. The attention to details on the drinks was what stood out to me the most. One of my favorite drinks there has ice that is in the imprint/shape of bees wax which I think is very unique!
I am not sure why but whenever I plan to meet someone for
I am not sure why but whenever I plan to meet someone for the first time in DC I can only think of Residents. Probably because Residents is in the heart of DC but it is more than that of course. The drinks here are remarkable which is a testament to how skilled the bartenders here are. Everything from the flavor to the garnishing of the drinks is just perfect. I have had almost all of their seasonal cocktails and they do not disappoint at all. Food is amazing here as well. Mind you, quality over quantity is focused so you might not feel full by any means but everything from the croquettes to the grilled octopus is wonderful. The service is amazing and everyone from the hosts to the rest of the staff is amazing. The ambiance is lively, rustic and floral which I guess is the hip thing these days. It is a total experience that everyone should must have. 4.5/5
This will become one of my go to brunch spots going forward.
Simple menus with a diverse amount of options, nice staff, and diverse types of drinks. This was my first time at Residents and I went during brunch. I had the chicken sandwich and my date had the burger. Both were flavorful and came out with a nice presentation. Of course an espresso martini was ordered and it was blended well.

Visited residents in dupont when i was catching up with a friend visiting town. Great place! We walked in around noon (no reservation) and were seated immediately. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive and the food was amazing! It was extremely flavorful and I really enjoyed the artichoke. The drinks were delightfully strong LOL, they were delicious too! There is a lot of cute seasonal decor in the seating area and it's a great place for conversation (no blaring loud music). I will say that the bathroom is a little bit scary to get to (steel stairs down into a dark basement lol) after a few drinks, so be careful and hold the railing!
My server didn't ask me if I was done with my food before
My server didn't ask me if I was done with my food before she took it away. She also didn't ask me or my boyfriend if we were done with our drinks before she took them away. I think that's really weird considering we each had more than a sip left of our drinks left. I wanted to finish my food and my drink... Also worth mentioning: this was for Valentines dinner which we got reservations for well in advance (mid-January) yet we were seated on bar stools in the corner next to the bar... wouldn't have thought too hard about this except this is the second time I've eaten here and they put us in the exact same location the first time and the heated patio is what was advertised for the valentines dinner. Would've enjoyed sitting in the heated patio where the ambiance is much better, especially considering how early in advance we booked it.
Dropped by with a friend as this spot has been on my list
Dropped by with a friend as this spot has been on my list to visit for a while. Unfortunately, I was disappointed as it had really been hyped up on social media. The bartender seemed to me new. She made my friends tequila and soda and then added ice at the end, leading the drink to overflow. My friend said the drink tasted only of soda, likely because a lot of the liquor spilled out of the glass. I had the espresso martini. It was mediocre, a little go bitter for my preference. The fries were tasty. The establishment was aesthetically pleasing and would be great for pictures. I don't believe that I would return.
A really great spot for brunch with friends.
Highly recommend it for the vibes and the ambience. Service was great too and really quick. Everything we got tasted amazing.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
