Update for reverie 2.
0/tasting menu. The re-done space is awesome, as is the food and hospitality. Visited less than a month after reopening and the team has everything nailed down - pacing and service were perfect. The food is executed at a very high level, and very unique to Johnny - a seafood forward menu unlike anywhere else in DC. We opted for glasses vs. a pairing, there is a good selection and we enjoyed what we tried. A number of chefs (including Johnny) stopped by to drop off and describe the dishes to us, it all felt very personal. Definitely worth a stop in, it will become a regular in our rotation.

The restaurant has kinda hidden vibe in a alley in Georgetown. And the atmosphere is good, very good for dates or casual hangs

We were very excited about going to a Michelin star restaurant since we don't have any where we're from. Reverie was an expensive disappointment unfortunately. A few of the dishes were good and so was the service but it was definitely not worth the $$. I am attaching a picture of the courses for that evening and the images of the food. Presentation was very nice. The flavor combinations just didn't really work too well. There were combinations of sweet and bitter or bitter and not very well seasoned or other flavors that sadly didn't do any justice to the ingredients which were obviously fresh.

Unsurprisingly for a Michelin starred place that's $$$$$, food was fantastic and its presentation beautiful. Wine pairings were spot on. Loved the seafood focus, though the duck was definitely delicious. I'm not much of a dessert person, so I could've done without the several sweet courses at the end -- or would have preferred more of the savory, but I acknowledge I'm probably in the minority with this opinion. I could also have done with a little less attention from the servers, but that's just me. I like to focus on the food and my date, so smiling and nodding and listening at length to various servers over the course of the meal kills the mood a bit for me.

My fiancé and I went here for my birthday--the food is stunning, the drinks are exquisite. Highly recommend for a wonderful culinary experience. Truly, THANK YOU to the restaurant and their team. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely the best meal I have ever had.
The wine pairing was amazing and varied, and the food was inventive and outstanding.

Definitely worth fighting the traffic and tourists in Georgetown. A great staff to interact with at the chef's counter. The food was incredible. One of the best all-around experiences I've had at a tasting. This will be a repeat visit spot for me!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best meal I have had in DC.
A little better than minibar and much better than Bresca. They have a rice and crab dish topped with what was described to me as "egg yolk sludge" that was divine. It was so good I told the chef that I wanted to sleep with that sludge (still would.. hmu you sexy sludge). The wine pairing was very reasonable. The service was impeccable. I am still thinking of this meal the morning after, which was not that case for the other Michelin starred restaurants I have tried in this city.

I've been coming to Reverie since 2019 and have seen the ebbs and flows of Johnny Spero's restaurant and man have things changed now that they got their 1 Michelin star. For two 14 item tasting menu, one wine pairing, a glass of cider and a couple of glasses or tea, ya girl dropped $750+. Lemme say I was I shock. Especially cause the tasting menu was just that. Everything the size of my palm or smaller. I could go to two Michelin start restaurant, Jōnt, spend $1k for two people and have SO MUCH MORE FOOD AND DRINKS. They used to have an a la carte menu, which I honestly enjoyed and I feel is a nice alternative offers a lower price point for those who wanted to enjoy Reverie's offerings but couldn't splurge for a tasting menu. Reverie used to offer a full roasted duck which is AMAZING and worth every penny. I took a photo to remember how amazing it was cause I haven't been able to get it since or never at the same size. Overall, if you want to have a nice date nice in Georgetown and drop some monies and hang with cool people, come to Reverie. Also, it's right across from Chaia taco in the alley- don't get lost. Will I come back to Reverie? Honestly, no. Johnny does have another restaurant opening up near RPM which I'm hoping offers more affordable prices.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place, a hidden gem in G town.
My wife and I always go there for some special occasions. The owner, Jonny is a super nice guy, he is very involved with all the cooking process and dish preparations. We know him for a while, always text him for recommendations before our visit. Sometime we're able to reserve some special dishes in advance. We used to tell Jonny this place should be a Michelin rated restaurant. Well, in 2022, it is now Michelin 1 star. Unlike some of the Michelin rated restaurants within the area, you can tell everyone loves working there, you see passions in them. Keep up with the hard work, and well deserved!FYI, these pics were from 2018 before they went Michelin 1-star.

Give this restaurant all the stars! This was one of the best meals of my life and the best restaurant in DC in my opinion. When you go, do not skip. Get the Tasting menu and sit at the Chefs table (with wine pairing). Enjoy yourself. Watch the chefs unfold their magic in front of you. Despite being seafood focused, this was the best roast duck I have experienced in DC. Better than Bresca. Better than Kinship (but it was close). We have something special here in DC. Make sure you go!
Be the first to ReplyReverie is aiming for a Michelin star and I fully expect
Reverie is aiming for a Michelin star and I fully expect Jonny Spero and his team to get it in 2022. I was lucky enough to arrive on a slower night, which meant I got prime seating at the chef's counter. The staff was absolutely lovely: personable, knowledgeable, professional, detailed, and experts in their craft. It was an honor to watch them prepare my exquisite meal. The menu was incredibly inventive. I kept joking that THIS COURSE was my favorite dish, only to have it topped. Some highlights were the "gazpacho," a kind of tomato water magic, with fish to mix in. I could have guzzled a gallon of the tomato water. Definitely the most creative was sunchoke ice cream, topped with toasted sunchoke chips and caviar. And probably the single best was the duck, crispy skin with fantastic fennel spice and juicy meat. Ugh I could go on and on. Omw last shout out to the staff, who made me feel so welcome in my new city. The restaurant has gone full tasting menu, so disregard pandemic and pre-pandemic posts.

So glad I have discovered this restaurant it is such a gem! Service is absolutely amazing, everyone is so friendly and super attentive. Food was creative and had wonderful flavors - absolutely loved the sun choke caviar ice cream, lobster with rose hip butter, and the razor clam with the garlicky tomato water. Didn't get to order wine pairing since I was planning on taking it easy on a weeknight, but their wine selection was so wonderfully done that I ended up having more glasses than what I had planned. You are going to find wines that don't come by often (had a beautiful godello and a Sauvignon vert from Slovenia). Highly recommend asking the som/bev director to help with pairing because she definitely knows her stuff! Can't wait to come back here. I hope they get a star soon cuz they def deserve it!

My friend took me there and I have to say it is an amazing experience. We sit at the bar and it's a great entertainment to watch the chefs to prepare all the food. Every dish on the tasting menu was great. There is not one thing I don't like about it, the finger dessert at the end end is a bit weak but still pretty good.

Fabulous dining experience! We opted for the Long Tasting Menu with counter seating. As foodies, we loved watching the "masters" create, and each course was a visual and taste masterpiece. We liked the sleek feel of the restaurant, but the music could have been lowered a bit. The courses were small, but we walked out very full. It was a really outstanding dining experience, and I'm quite surprised that they haven't snagged a star yet (yes, it's that good).

The restaurant uses high quality ingredients but wasn't tasty. The wine pairing was amazing. not sure if the pairing went well with the food but the wines themselves were really good. I had the long menu. The service was amazing and the food taste was the worst part. To me it feels like the restaurant is trying too hard to get a michelin star instead of focusing on taste.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal.
The best restaurant experience i've had in DC. So so good. Service, food, and wine were all outstanding. Went for our 5 year anniversary and can't recommend it highly enough.
Be the first to ReplyINCREDIBLE! I've had my eyes on Reverie for awhile.
My friends and I decided to make reservations for the chef's counter on my birthday. We had the best seats to appreciate the meticulous details and techniques the chefs craft on each plate, which were beautiful art pieces! Everyone was extremely welcoming and the atmosphere was not stuffy at all. The service timing was perfect, the courses were filling, and the flavors were mind blowing. There were 17 dishes total! More than half were fresh seafood paired with herbs and juices to bring out the freshness of the course. My favorite was the scallop with buttermilk, dill and kombu. The flavor was delicate and fresh. I would like to drink a gallon of that buttermilk, dill, kombu broth please! Up next, were two main course dishes- duck and lamb belly. I was stuffed before we got to the savory dishes! At last were four dessert courses. The standout was the fromange blanc with the ice sphere to crack on top (similar to a creme brûlée.) The first two desserts were refreshing and light, and it felt like summer. The last two desserts were more rich in flavor and dense. Overall, Reverie is amazing! Loved every minute of chatting, drinking and eating. Can't wait to come back and experience more delectable and gorgeous dishes.

What a hidden gem! The restaurant is a little difficult to find-- it's tucked away in an unlit alleyway, but someone was at the door to usher us in. There are tables indoors and on the patio, but we chose to sit at the chef's counter for the tasting menu. The service is intimate, there were only 7 diners at the counter and we were face to face with the chefs the whole time. Every chef and server was friendly and approachable. There are no airs or stuffiness about the place which is so refreshing. In fact, everyone appeared to live their job. By the end of the night, they were cheering each other on and giving rounds of applause for presentations of the final courses. It was such a happy, welcoming atmosphere. You can tell they are a tight-knit staff. On to the food, it was delicious and FILLING. Seafood was fresh, flavors were well balanced, and I was stuffed by halfway through. The portions were fairly generous imo. A decent size fillet of cod and three slices of duck when I only expected one, especially given the number of courses. Even though I couldn't finish all of my entrees, the desserts were so delicious I had to make room for more! Seriously, the desserts were so good I wanted to lick my plate. Wine list is short but sweet. I opted to not go for a pairing this time around (more room for food). Overall a fantastic experience on par with some michelin restaurants in the area. Underrated for sure and definitely worth a visit!
Be the first to ReplyReverie's one of the most underrated restaurants in DC
Reverie's one of the most underrated restaurants in DC right now, and I regret not coming here sooner. I had the 16-course chef's counter menu, which was all-around excellent and inventive.I especially enjoyed the seafood courses: the tuna, razor clam, scallop, and skate dishes were delicate yet complex in flavor and beautiful in presentation.Any restaurant with 4 courses of dessert will win my heart. Loved the pistachio meringue tart and the petit fours! The beverage menu was fantastic as well. I hardly drink alcohol so I always order a mocktail when I'm dining out. "Into the Woods" was by far the best mocktail that I've ever had; it consists of a coffee base, non-alcoholic bourbon, and black walnut bitters. I also tried a delicious non-alcoholic wine that was not glorified fruit juice.Service was great and unpretentious! Chef Johnny Spero is so friendly and easy to chat with.

Great vibes and ambiance. Very helpful and informative staff. The food was extremely tasty. Definitely a 5 out of 5.
