Excellent dinner
Da Ivo is an excellent restaurant. Capable service, excellent food. It was full when we arrived for our reservation at 21:30 but service and food quality was top-notch nevertheless. All the specials we ordered, as well as other menu choices were cooked spot-on. This is an excellent choice of restaurant in Venice in my opinion.

Darling restaurant. Had the risotto with cuttlefish - divine. Service was excellent and a charming setting. No wonder Clooney loves it! Very cool clothing store across the street. Highly recommend

WOW! What a wonderful restaurant. It's small and off the main track (such as there is in Venice), but so worth a visit. Get a reservation. The food and wine were outstanding--a Tuscan oasis in the heart of Venice. Some patrons arrived and departed by gondola and water taxi from the door on the little canal; the service staff was exceptionally friendly and made wonderful recommendations. The walls are covered with drawings of and praise from celebs (ala Sardi's). We celebrated a friend's birthday, and everyone joined in the chorus. Don't miss the after-dinner "drink" of limoncillo, gelato, calvados, and maybe some prosecco--who can recall!

I wasn't too sure about this when I booked given the mixed reviews and the hype around George Clooney. I am so glad we went. We are foodies and have dined at some great places all over the world. This is one of the top 10 dining experiences ever in terms of food, service and ambience. The artichoke and crab starter, spidercrab pasta, truffle pasta and strawberries in vinegar particularly stood out. Classics like the tagliata di manzo were done to perfection. The staff were friendly and courteous with quintessential Italian warmth. I am definitely going back next time we are in Venice.
Be the first to ReplyGreat quality meal, not into celebrations.
Great quality meal in this smart little fine dining restaurant - everything was tasty and refined. Only disappointment was that I had informed them in writing and on the phone that it was my wife's 60th birthday, we even ordered Bellini's on arrival but no fuss or mention made at all?
Be the first to ReplyI’ll make it brief …..
I’ve been in Venice many times and I would advise think carefully about going to this restaurant. There is indeed much ‘hype’ around Ivo but it is not welcoming to all and the food is so much more expensive than other restaurants and really only average quality. On this trip it was my worst meal in Venice. You really can do far better. We like to eat out, indeed do not mind paying above the odds, but we left here feeling ‘ripped off’ in every sense. There was nothing special about this restaurant at all. There was a bad atmosphere, and the staff were arrogant and unwelcoming. We witnessed one of the waiters being incredibly rude to one poor man when he was not giving his 100% attention to the specials being read out from the blackboard. Perhaps it was because he was wearing a polo shirt? We will never know, but he was ordering oysters and many of the more expensive items on the menu. Surely his money is as good as anybody else’s? There are some fabulous ‘off the beaten track’ restaurants in Venice, do your research and read reviews. If
Be the first to ReplyVery average, don't understand the hype
When passing by on a gondola, we were told that Da Ivo was a "famous" restaurant. We double-checked with a local, and she confirmed that the restaurant had a good reputation and high prices. We ate lunch here and were completely underwhelmed. Being kind, we would rate the food as average. The service was also average. We watched as they received tourists, and depending upon the tourists' appearance, the waiters' greetings varied. To one casually dressed mother and son, they informed them that there was a two-course requirement, and scared them off by showing the overpriced menu. A glamorous-looking couple was seated with charm. This is not the authentic, charming, high-end that it holds itself out to be. Possibly trading on it old merits. Walk on by, there are much better places for your stomach and wallet.
Be the first to ReplyNever disappointed!
We have been to Da Ivo many times. We have never had a bad or disappointing meal and service is always excellent. This evening we enjoyed another excellent meal of Granseola Crab, Scampi Fritti and a Duck pasta, followed by the best Sgroppino in Venice. "Sgropin means to untie a small knot." This lovely, old Venetian concoction is made with (a good!) lemon sorbet, Prosecco and vodka, but Da Ivo adds a little Calvados too...then slowly whips it to a frosty froth and serves it. And it unties that little knot you have from eating too much! And excellent way to end an excellent meal. Da Ivo is worth the price. Reservations are a must! (Lunch is good too!)
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced for underwhelming food
This restaurant looks luxurious from the outside, there is even access possible via a gondola boat. There are lots of impressive looking waiters walking around but a glimpse in the kitchen showed a non Caucasian in the kitchen. It’s definitely not food cooked by Italians. The zucchini flowers I ordered came very oily and with surimi nits instead of real crab meat as advertised. The fish I had was an unidentifiable kind that tasted bland. Dessert was fine with red berries. But then it would be difficult to go wrong with fresh fruit. The food is totally overpriced and a whopping 15% is added to the bill (which was indeed mentioned in the menu), however it is illegal in Europe, as all advertised prices are supposed to be vat and service inclusive. I guess we are in Venice. It’s the one city in Italy where the food is systematically bad and overpriced. Thank god the beauty of the city makes it still worth the visit…

Great Experience 👍 We enjoyed the food and we were lucky 😊 with our order Turbot fish was amazing 👏 and beef sirilion was unreal 👌
Be the first to ReplyUnpleasant experience
Atmosphere is lovely , small restaurant and v cosy . That’s it. They are mainly interested in fleecing high rollers and the attention you receive is in proportion to what you spend. Which is understandable but given the prices all meals here are expensive. They never checked on us through the evening despite it being a tiny restaurant. The tall gentleman that shows the specials board is arrogant and condescending. Sent back the truffle pasta which was watery and completely devoid of flavour . Despite a 15 % service charge and also a cover charge was asked to give a tip which I had to . Left a very unpleasant taste. It was supposed to be a special evening for our 30 th wedding anniversary and was far from that. Please don’t be taken in by the Hollywood hype far better places to eat in Venice.
Be the first to ReplyExperience was there - food and value are lacking
Well this is the place that you see all the famous people arrive at by boat and so of course we had to try to see what it feels like to be George Clooney for an evening. The water taxi from the Marriott was the best part of the experience and I highly recommend this as a great way to see Venice. The taxi pulls up right to the side door of the restaurant and you step in to a pretty cool "insta" famous room. Realistically we should have just taken a photo and got back in the boat. I don't want to slam this place too hard but its panders to the Great and the good and so the prices are reflective of this. Overpriced for what you get and I'm sure there are better value places to have a nice meal. But if you have just signed that next big movie deal and want to piss it all away on food and wine then this is a great place to start. Or just take a photo and move on. And avoid the Canal Crab - no matter what the waiter says.
Be the first to ReplyTraditional, seasonal, delicious!
This small restaurant is full of warmth and welcome. The wine menu is amazing, but the food menu is heaven. They have a large selection of daily specials based on what came from the market that day, and you can get plenty from the Lagoon and in season. There are also many traditional dishes that are delicious. I am still dreaming about the Venetian cuttlefish in ink…
Be the first to ReplyFantastic evening.
After many meals in Italy this turned out to be our favorite. The ambience is cozy and the service top notch. The food was excellent. Everything we ate was great from the bruschetta to the soft shell crabs to the fish and pasta. Dessert was also well done. It’s is the most expensive place we ate but also the best.

Da Ivo was a fantastic spot in a great location in Venice. The food and ambiance were excellent. We loved all the dishes we ordered, but the squid ink and soft shell crabs were out of this world.

First class service complimentary bruschetta to start my starter of figs and shrimps which was on the special board was delicious and my Pasta with scampi in tomato sauce with a hint of chilli was extremely tasty complimentary small ice cream followed by Tiramisu this restaurant is not cheap but for a special treat was very pleasant
Be the first to ReplyWonderful night, delicious food
We came here last Saturday night and travelled by private boat. The staff met us at the jetty and helped us inside. All staff were very helpful, friendly and the food was the best we have eaten in ages. I had the lamb chops which were cooked perfectly as were our other dishes. The restaurant is only small but creates a great atmosphere and although wasn't the cheapest meal we had on our trip was still reasonable and worth every penny.

One of our favorite restaurants in the world…superb ambiance and service and excellent fresh seafood-focused fare…enough said!

Wonderful lunch here - great service, daily specials. Not cheap tho - we just had one course of pasta all which were delicious..
Be the first to ReplySuperb
I looked forward to returning here and was definitely not disappointed. It was warm, cozy, and inviting. Our waiter did a great job attending to us and guiding us through the menu, which was filled with varied and marvelous choices. We started with a tomato bruschetta amuse bouche. I then enjoyed artichoke and spider crab antipasto. It was a good portion, light and flavorful. Then I had paccheti stuffed with crab in a tomato sauce. My food was fantastic. My girlfriend had arugula and parmigiana salad and then spaghetti with lamb ragu. She loved her dishes. The lamb ragu was perfect on a cold night. We ended with a chocolate ice cream bon bon, which was perfect. The restaurant is not cheap, but it is a wonderful experience to savor. Highly recommended. We will happily return.
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant in Venice
What we ordered: white truffle Scallops & the shrimp stuffed fried zucchini flowers to start. Rigatoni (my personal fav) and cuttlefish risotto as our prima piattis. Followed by the seas bass. Everything was UNREAL. this is THE BEST restaurant in Venice. It’s now ranked in one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Exceptional service. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. Extensive wine list full of great Amarone and Barolo wines. For dessert, I ordered a Venetian dessert cocktail, sgroppino. Which consists of whipped Prosecco, vodka and lemon sorbet. They made it at our table.
This is often frequented by celebrities. MAKE A RESERVATION!!! It’s so cozy, they only have about 15 tables and it’s constantly busy.
Food came very fast
The food is good, not exceptional. We were charged double the normal price for similar dishes we could get elsewhere. The staff is rude.
