I leave only 2 stars because the first visit was great,
I leave only 2 stars because the first visit was great, except the Sommelier was so incredibly rude. Food was great, staff was very friendly and professional. The second visit, only a few days later was ridiculous l. The hostess was friendly and very accommodating. The waiter miss understood our order, miss understood salad and only brought one., we kindly said no problem and moved on. Then he never brought our entree and insisted we didn't order it, even though we were sharing it. He never checked in for 30 minutes so we had to flag down another waiter. Our waiter didn't apologize, insisted we didn't order an entree and offered to bring the entree but explained it would take 20 minutes. After 2 hours we were done. After all this the sommelier gave us more attitude, reminiscent of the previous visit with snarl and a rude and condescending "good night" off the list! Bummer because it's a beautiful restaurant with great Italian food
Be the first to ReplyNotwithstanding a recommendation from and reservation
Notwithstanding a recommendation from and reservation through one of London's 5-star hotels, the service and treatment was third world and grossly sub-standard. The manager, despite only 7 tables occupied on a Sunday evening, never found the time to approach our table a single time. Not even after a spilled glass of red wine caused glass and wine to be spread everywhere. The wine selection was great. The pastas for the first course were very good. The mains were extremely disappointing. Dover Sole was served very dry and tasteless. The Pork Chop Milanese was equally dry and flavorless. Exacerbating all were the interminable delays in service; from obtaining the attention of a disinterested waitstaff to order wine.......and then to order food....to pouring and then re-filling of our wine (which red wine, carafed, was inexplicably parked some 4-5 empty tables away)....to requesting our check, etc. And at no time throughput was the manager or even a captain to be seen. VERY VERY disappointing to have this experience. Buyer Beware.
Be the first to ReplyService is horrible.
Waitress kept strangely starring out window at us.  Very strange!  Hard to even get a smile out of any staff!  I have visited high end Italian restaurants all over the world and this one is bottom 10%.  Ambiance is great, also great location.  Calamari was OK. Chef not willing to do any modification requests to dishes. Bad sign! Do not order seafood risotto, horrible!  Lobster linguine is good.  Overall, not worth price.

08.18Time: 2pmNot too crowded but i like that it is just off Regent St and not crowded, decor and design is very pleasant and you are given both the a la carte menu and set linch menu. Both went for a set lunch menu and it was a good choice with the waiter able to take out the clams in the spaghetti for me and add garlic which was a nice touch and shows also it is made fresh. Provided a great selection of bread to start and wish i had more time to enjoy them but had a time schedule and only an hour to order and eat and pay which we managed so a testament to the service as well. Bear in mind there is an outdoor area as well which is nice during the recent nice weather we are having. The lunch set menu came in at £25.00 per person for 2 courses.Just had two course set menu this time and started with the Ham and Melon but you have three options for starters and mains to choose from and looking at their website this seems to change as the website menu is not accurate. Ham and Melon - Really refreshing and good portion of ham which was light and delicious with great smoked flavour and the melon was fresh and just right. A great starter. Spaghetti with chilli and clams - I substituted the clams with just garlic. Not the biggest of portions but not small either so for Lunch it is just right so you don't feel too bloated. Spaghetti cooked well and nice light flavour with hint of chilli and good helping of garlic sauce but not too much. I really enjoyed the dish that tasted authentic and light. Not tomato based like so many other resturant and nothing wrong with that but its nice to be able to get a more authentic taste. The menu does seem skewed to sea food and as I don't really have sea food i was a bit worried but as they were able to accommodate and the food was really nice I was glad I went and asked. In summary a nice place to visit and very convenient just a stones throw away from the hustle of Regent Street. Please decor and good attentive staff so worth a visit. Hope to go again and experience more of the menu and give a more detailed review.

Order: tagliolini with black truffle; arugula and Parmigiano salad; apple crumble dessert AVOID: crab cakes; tiramisuThis is a classic Italian restaurant in London. The decor is cute and maybe a bit kitschy. All servers are friendly and eager to please. The bread comes out fast and is served with the Frescobaldi olive oil (one of my personal favorites). I greatly enjoy salads, so I ordered their arugula and Parmigiano Reggiano salad. It was simple but nice. Make sure to ask for their balsamic vinegar - it's thick and sweet and really completes the salad. Do not get their seasonal artichoke and potato soup - it lacks all flavor and is extremely thin. For my entree, I ordered the tagliolini with black truffles. I absolutely adore freshly made tagliolini, and this was a perfect example. The sauce is a creamy butter sauce and fresh black truffles from Italy are generously shaved over the top. Take a minute to really enjoy the smell of the truffles. This dish was superb. The penne arrabiata is one of my favorite dishes when I go to Italy, and though this was a nice representation of it, I did not find it to be spectacular. My companions ordered the crab cake appetizer for their entrees. THIS WERE AWFUL. They tasted like flavorless potato cakes. I honestly didn't see any crab for all the filling. If you truly enjoy lump crab meat, avoid this at all costs. Easily one of the most disappointing dishes I've tried in London. My companions switched to the tagliolini with truffle after trying my dish. I will say, although the waiters were quick bringing out their replacement dishes - until one of my companions brought it to their attention, they included the cost of all pastas and all crab cakes on the bill. Dessert - the tiramisu is very pretty, but not very good. It doesn't gave that nice custard-like filling and instead tasted like soaked lady fingers in espresso and thick whipped cream. The Apple crumble wasn't at all what I expected, but I found it to be very nice. One companion loved their cappuccino they got with dessert. After dessert they bring jars of Italian candy which is cute.

I don't know which restaurant the other reviewers went to but this place was fantastic. Â We live in NYC and have eaten at many of the city's best Italian restaurants and this is right there with them. Â The atmosphere is great, service was exceptional and the food was delicious. The dessert w the complimentary sweets and biscottis were the perfect pair w our tea. Â I would highly recommend and would go back whenever I'm in London
Be the first to ReplyThis is a busy corporate type restaurant.
Some of the food was good. Service was slow, but it was a busy time...  The issue here was an error on the bill.  We were charged for two bottles of wine.  This was probably not a mistake.  The way the restaurant handled it - with a glib and causal/no big deal approach - was disgraceful.  I tried to suggest that the purported mistake was not a casual matter, but apparently it was for the restaurant employee that handled the matter.  There was no personal attention or a genuine effort to deal with the "mistake".  This is unforgivable.   My suggestion to the readers of my review: if you are in London and are looking for a nice Italian Restaurant, pick a different one.  There are many that will treat their clients with respect.
Be the first to ReplyNice average Italian restaurant , prices relatively high
Nice average Italian restaurant , prices relatively high for such restaurant. The Caprese salad and yellow spicy tuna as first dishes were good. The olive oil is great!!! The best I ever tasted. The main courses were ok (seabass , sole, and lobster risotto ) the red wine was great from Toscana mix of Shiraz, merlot and cabaret. Nice tiramisu which was presented differently.
