Like most places of this calibre, this was planned some time ago and with allot of assistance. I don't think I would've found this without assistance.Overall ambiance was beautiful, their timing of their service is impeccable and our server is just so charming. The pour of the wine was very generous, and their food presentation is exquisite.I would love to return next time I'm in Italy.

Finding the place on a dark rainy night was a bit of a challenge. It's on a hotel property behind an imposing iron gate, locked, with a small poorly lit buzzer for the restaurant (also one for the hotel). One presses the buzzer, lights glare from above a speaker to allow someone on the other end to see who is pressing the button. Once I said I had a restaurant reservation, someone buzzed the gate open. It's a cozy space, around 9 tables. The meal begins with a half-dozen canapés before the menu is presented. They have an a la carte and two tasting menus. The first tasting menu has a loose description. The second one is whatever the chef feels like making: everything a surprise. My first course was a "wow!" dish. It was a plate of around a dozen very small crispy-fried fish from the lagoon accompanied by around two-dozen dollops of different sauces It was a delightful kaleidoscope of flavors and colors. This was followed by a hot cucumber salad and egg yolk. These were excellent. The salad included some bitter micro greens that worked very well with the cucumber and the yogurt based dressing. The third course was artichokes, foie gras, and truffles. A very tasty combination of earthy flavors. The unspoken theme of the menu was beginning to appear to be sea and earth. Next, grilled eel with a horseradish sauce and a parsley sauce as well as micro greens and Belgian endive. It was delicious. Course #5 was grilled cuttlefish, a breaded and fried cuttlefish head, and cauliflower cooked in vinegar. I really liked the cauliflower but only ate half of the squid. It was prepared well but I've never been much of a squid fan. They next presented a dish with spaghettini, shrimp, mussels, scallions, and caviar. I greatly enjoyed it. The flavors mixed very well. The next course was pigeon. It came with a couple different sauces, one with a bit of spicy flavor the other with a raspberry flavor. The preparation and presentation were excellent; unfortunately, I am not much of a pigeon fan. Finally, dessert was a lemon ice cream with some sort of cookie crumbles. Not spectacular, but a sweet finish. It was followed by a half-dozen petit fours which ranged from a "modernist tiramisu" to a small cube of chocolate covered red berry ice cream. They finished the meal nicely. Service was terrible: friendly, attentive, fast. The pacing of the courses was just right. If you are willing to splurge on Michelin two-star prices, I highly recommend it.

A contemporary Venetian restaurant, hidden down one of the ubiquitous alleys - luckily I was able to find it during daylight hours, before my Sunday night dinner. For my tasting menu, the excellent taste, presentation of each plate was complimented by almost perfect service. The only compilant remains with the sommelier, as his actions unfortunately detracted from the outstanding food and efforts by the other staff:With only seven guests at three separate tables, all of us ordered the "Art, gardens and lagoon," tasting menu, and all with wine pairing. However, for some reason, I was the only one served a local beer as a selection, also, one wine was lazily presented twice for two different courses. And, unforgivably, he completelty forgot to bring my wine for the dessert course. I had to ask another server, and finally recieved a simple Port to accompany my petit fours.Perhaps this was due to my dress, which I confirmed was appropriate before I entered the restaurant. Not the service expected at a Michelin starred restaurant. I hope this is addressed.2019 10 06.
