Worth its Michelin star for service, food and location/experience
My husband and I enjoyed a romantic tasting dinner. The food was delicious - I was especially surprised by how delicious the cuttlefish dish was. The black truffle was perfection - and we had a lovely table. Service was unobtrusive and efficient.

Our first dinner booked by our concierge in Capri was at this amazing restaurant. The location was so divine and the food so particular and sofisticate. We loved this restaurant and we enjoyed it at the best.

This was an amazing experience, we choose the 7 courses menu and it was just amazing!! Thank you so much for all the great service and the fabulous food that you made for us. It’s an incredible dining experience in Capri.

We have one of the worst Dinners on Capri. In the beginning three years ago we have a great evening good service stuff and beautiful dishes. Thischanged completely a In 2022. The maitre was super arrogant and snobby we felt totallly uncomfortable in his near. No nice words no warm welcome, just boundaries with our order. Even they have no more a la carte list, like three years ago, now all guests MUST eat the same menu, even when the restaurant was not fully booked this evening. How could this be? Nice nice but expensive calculated wine list within specials. After our order the starter takes more then 45 minutes to be served, raw cuttlefish was tender with good aromas of lemon but pretty cold. The next dish was salted cod with tomato ice cream. Nice flavor of the ice but tasteless and cold cod. The best dish was homemade ravioli stuffed with lobster and finished with lobsterstock. Good tasty but nearly cold. The main course was an absolutely desaste, seabass from the oven with mussels. A super small slice of the fish served with 3 mussels, and overall again the dish and plate was cold. After asking the maitre we just get shrug of shoulder and no sorry. Again the attitude of the maitre was super rude, awkward and arrogant. Also a little bit disgusting: as a restaurant guest you were shown the restrooms from pool in the shower area of the pool guests. You have one toilet for women and men. What? Also the reservation agent told us more then 2 times that we have to wear no shorts and a long short or Sakko. At least half of the guests are sitting there in flipflop and shorts…? Overall never Monzu again, small cold dishes, no kindness at all and the dinner was more expensive then the excellent Olivio with 2 Michelin stars.
Be the first to ReplyBelow expectations and poor value for money
Me and my fiancée visited Monzu for our engagement dinner. We had high hopes due to the Michelin star and the occasion. We appreciate good food and have been to many restaurants with Guide Michelin stars in different cities such as Paris, Tokyo, San Sebastian etc. Capri is expensive and this restaurant even more. We don’t mind paying for excellent experiences but this visit didn’t impress us unfortunately. We ordered the 4 course tasting menu (€140) and wine pairing (€60)
Good things:
- Quick (but almost forced) service
- Excellent Chef’s Welcome
- Desert and pre-desert was excellent and tasty
Below expectations:
- The starter (cuttlefish) was well prepared (marinated in thin slices) but quite tasteless. Most of the plate was cuttlefish and nothing really to contrast it with. I expected more different tastes on the palette
- the primi was blue mussels with pasta. Well presented and the sauce was good. Mussels were…mussels.
- Secondi was monkfish (high expectations) bbq style but was overcooked
- Service asked “Everything ok?” when they rushed to get our plates, not really taking the time to get feedback.
- Wine pairing was poor value. €60 for wine pairing, then we expected good and reasonable amounts of wine. We had 4 glasses, all very small (less than 10 cl, more around 6-8 cl). Wine was ok but after spending €120 on wine we expected more. In Capri a decent bottle of wine is €30-60. We should have invested those €120 in a good bottle instead
Conclusion: poor value for money if you expect a 1 star Michelin experience…Proofpoint: bottle of still water was €18… Prices charged were high enough not to overcharge on water.
Superb staff, great views
We did not stay at the hotel, but were invited by Ana Manzo (head of concierge) at one events in Anacapri to visit the hotel and have some drinks/food and enjoy the views.
The hotel looked great. Staff were really friendly
Pool area is very nice
