We've been living in the neighborhood and finally decided to try restaurant out. By far the best quality and fabulously curated menu. Staff was great too! Paneer and Beet kofta were stellar. Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyOkay, so I went back and I was sooo satisfied with the food.
I ordered jalfarezi, potatoes gun powder, plantain chaat, hot chai. I can't believe the taste of the food never changes. I believe that their whole menu is fantastic and unique and it suits everyone's taste palette. Thanks to the chef and the service staff. Awesome job!!!
Be the first to ReplyMy God, Ritu is SO good.
I can't speak for every dish, but I've had several that were so mouth-watering that I dream about slipping over to Ritu in odd moments of the day. And I'm not normally particularly excited about food. No outdoor seating but tables mostly not toooo close.

Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I decided to try Ritu during SF Restaurant
My friends and I decided to try Ritu during SF Restaurant Week 2022. The ambiance is cozy and modern, and each course of the tasting menu was unique and flavorsome. The meal began with the beet and asparagus chaat, which was so refreshing! The mix of spices, tanginess from the beets, and creaminess from the yogurt sauce resulted in a surprising and delightful combination. I would describe the mushroom and kale gujia as more of an empanada than a samosa, and it was paired with a sweet and spicy chile dipping sauce. For the entree round, we ordered the spinach and paneer kofta and the fish malvana - both were excellent and presented beautifully. The naan was on another level - it almost resembled a scallion pancake in terms of texture and flavor, and it was stuffed with kale. For dessert, we shared a butterscotch pot de creme. While the dessert round was slightly underwhelming compared to the rest of the courses (the dessert was served "family style" for three of us), the meal overall was excellent. I'm so glad we discovered this gem during SF Restaurant Week.

SERVICE- unassuming location in mission district- open kitchen- chef Rupal Bhagat is so humble and talented! He is the one who took our reservation and came to the table with each dish to explain exactly what it was- our server (gio) was also super welcoming and friendly and made us feel special - seating in front or back of restaurant. We sat in the back and it felt semi private - brought out a candle because we were celebrating a birthday - need to park on the street and walkMENU- vegan and gluten free options clearly marked- we opted for the family style chefs tasting menu of 4 courses - average price for a nicer restaurant in the city ($14-$16 per entree) FOOD- course 1: kale pakora and samosa chaat- course 2: Gobi manchurian - course 3: dal makhani, vegetable jalfrezi, jackfruit biryani, roti, potato Kofta- course 4: rice puddingIn general, the food was very well spiced without an overwhelming amount of chili. Even though a lot of the dishes were deep fried, they were not dripping in oil yet still crispy. The quantity was perfect for a family of 4, especially considering the price point. I would highly recommend all of the dishes, but specifically the kale pakora, jackfruit biryani, and Kofta. WOULD I COME BACK? Absolutely!
Be the first to ReplyChef Rupam catered a dinner party in my home.
It was beyond amazing! His team took over our kitchen and delivered a masterpiece of appetizers and a plated three course meal. Delivery was exquisite with professional attention to detail in all aspects of the evening. After completion, Rupam said his goodbyes and to my astonishment my kitchen was left immaculate. I cannot wait to visit this restaurant and experience more of what Ritu Indian Soul Food has to offer.

Delicious flavors, healthy, friendly to all diets, good portion sizes, great value. The pakora is to die for, made of artichoke and jalapeño. Loved the fried fish and the vegetable korma. I'm becoming a regular. This place is hugely underrated.

We went for dinner, and got the chef's tasting menu (4 courses) + wine pairings. Each course had multiple items, so we ended up taking food home because we couldn't even finish everything. It worked out well though, it gave us a really good sampling of a lot of menu items. The first course included some kind of fried kale, which I expected to be heavy but wasn't. It was light and airy, and topped with stuff that gave it really good acid and balanced out the fried coating, and was wonderful. The naan was fantastic - different than what I am used to, as it was much crisper than what I have had in the past. But it was seasoned really nicely and I really enjoyed it. I think my favorite was the tandoori chicken - the chicken was moist, the sauce had caramelized in places, and it came with roasted broccoli which was charred and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely the highlight of the meal, although I thought all the dishes were really good.My one complaint about the food was dessert - we got some kind of rice pudding, and something that was basically a bowl of condensed milk. Perhaps these are traditional Indian desserts (?), but the rest of the food was elevated and refined, and I thought they could have done more with the dessert. The wine pairings were also nicely done (white, then rose, then red, then sparkling). Each wine paired nicely with the course it was served with, although I feel they could upgrade their wine list a bit, and I personally would have preferred a second red vs a rose.Bottom line - for $50/each, plus $26/each for the wine pairings, an excellent deal for excellent food.
Be the first to ReplyThe chef is incredibly talented.
What a find in the Mission. If the sea bass is on the menu, order it. I'd come every night if I could.

I've been coming here for 3 years! The food is absolutely delicious and the ingredients are always very high quality. Portions are plentiful but the plates are still very well put together and beautiful. The chef's care, technique, and expertise definitely show. Cocktail drinks are tasty and aesthetically very pretty. The atmosphere is dimly lit, warm, and romantic. A smaller space but you don't feel crowded at all. The best part? Everything on the menu is fairly priced and the staff are always polite, friendly and attentive.
