I wouldn't recommend it as a first-time omakase experience, but for those with discerning palates who have already seen quite a bit, Robin is a high value pick. The mystery of the menu and sliding scale pricing will be a turn off for a few. The lewd, loud rap music will be a turn off for many. But once we got rolling it was a memorable evening. The menu with supplements cost $229 and, contrary to the negative reviews, was like 24 courses and was *absolutely* distinct from the cheaper options. A memorable stop on a travel day.

We were so looking forward to this reservation, and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in the door to the time we left the service was impeccable. Everything was paced properly, and the portion sizes were ample, but not too much for almost 20 courses. We went for the higher end choice at $209 per person and we're so glad we did. There was nothing I could say to improve as they added little touches here, and there even giving me the playlist of the music and offering tastes of other sake, when we were curious. I cannot wait to return return.!!

Run don't walk! This is one of the few omakases where I walked out absolutely stuffed. Every piece of sushi was so well thought out with creative additions to the flavor. The fish was incredibly fresh. My absolute favorite was the uni - it was the perfect flavor and just melted in my mouth. The chef also took incredible care of us, seeing what we were liking the most and changing up the menu to fit with what we wanted. We came in at 5:30 and left around 7:30, which I think was a great move instead of 8pm, because I feel like I would have passed out from a food coma at the table if I came in at 8. The place itself had a very cozy, quiet atmosphere which I really appreciated, where I could actually hear the chef and the other person I was having dinner with.

Came back many years later and while the food is still great, I paid for the max price omakase, didn't order any drinks or alcohol and was disappointed spending $600 with tip for two walking out not full. Had to get a pizza literally right after. Never ever coming back and definitely not worth the money unless you have money to blow.

Be the first to ReplyGreat value for the omakase.
Good ambience and service. Overall a solid place - highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyFood was nice wish the portions were a bit bigger.
Very cute omakase experience, according to how much you want to eat is the price so it doesn't really tell u how many plates there are u always have the option to keep adding plates if your still hungry. Staff was super friendly and very attentive which was good.

I booked the 5:30pm reservation at the sushi bar 2 days before. We did the top menu ($209) without any add ons at the end (we were pretty full after 20 pieces of nirigi & a few small dishes). I would say this is very worth it. We got lots of different fish, all of which were tasty. The service was exceptional & we made great conversation with our sushi chef Tai. We requested on the Resy booking if we could get a menu (since we like to follow along & keep these as a souvenir. Although it is a menu-less restaurant with the "decide how much you want to pay when you get there" type of menu, they hand wrote a menu for us to take home! Ambiance is like a normal fine dining type restaurant - low lighting & got darker as the night went on. But never too dark & lights were placed well that my plate of food was always well lit!

I had heard so many great things about Robin, but to my dismay, they fell a bit short. While it is a very urban chic place with rap playing in the background, it was a bit loud to the point where I could not hear my partner across from me or the waiter explaining to us what the dish was. You get the choice to choose between 109$ and 209$ -- we opted for 150$, and I was disappointed. Perhaps this might have just been unlucky on my part, but when looking at other reviews, I was particularly looking forward to the uni, only to receive very little to none in my dishes. The dishes were a bit non-cohesive at the time I went. For example, there was a pumpkin-like soup. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but how it tied into the menu confused me. Additionally, the potato chip with caviar was a complete waste. It was dry and lacked flavor, relying only on the caviar on top to redeem itself. Overall, Robin fell short of my expectations. While the ambiance is nice, it's a bit difficult to converse, and at the price point, simply not worth what was served.

Absolutely wonderful experience with my boyfriend for my birthday at Robin! You are able to pick the price of your meal and then your individual chef customized a menu for you based on the ingredients they have, your favorites, and any occasions you are celebrating. The service was fantastic. The ambiance is very upscale but modern. There is music playing and lots of people talking. Every piece was delicious, and you get to watch the chef prepare every beautiful piece. I told our chefs my favorites were salmon, fatty tuna, and eel. For $150 each, we received 20 unique plates each including lots of salmon, unagi, and fatty tuna. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion or date. I had a lot of fun and everything felt very special.

I loved Robin's hip vibes and their contemporary take on traditional omakase. It was worth it for the value we picked ($150). The price was also encouraged by the chef and we were satiated. I was wowed by the flavor combinations and in awe of the presentation and stoneware. The staff was very attentive and provided amazing service. I really appreciate the 90s/ 2000s hip-hop RnB playlist that gave it such a throwback, hip vibe! Robin was definitely a unique omakase experience and I highly recommend checking this spot out. I was able to snag a Saturday bar seating for 2, two weeks prior to the reservation on Resy. And it also had 9:00 availability the day before.

The service is impeccable. We celebrated our 24th anniversary here. And we fortunately had a server, Hitoma, , and she was incredible. She made our celebration a festive one. The food here is out of this world.

I can't say enough great things about our experience at Robin. We went before attending the SF Ballet and am so glad we grabbed a reservation. The service was spectacular with knowledgeable staff who are excited about their role in presenting what amounts to delicious art on a plate. Get the Sake pairing, you won't be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyRobin is so good.
It's a little pricey but you leave full. They have unique nigiris. I started with the 10 pc but I think I ended with 15 because I just wanted to try everything. Their platting is beautiful. Go see for yourself

Wow. Hubby & I came for an early valentine's day dinner and really enjoyed our meal! You have a choice on a sliding scale between $99-$200 omakase. We selected the $200 omakase and thoroughly enjoyed it. Each piece of fish was fresh and so uniquely presented. My personal favorites were the otoro and the sea bream. The wagyu/foie gras piece was amazing as well. The citrus & scallop dish was stunning and again, so fresh. What we didn't like were the noodles & miso soup that were part of the $200 meal. Those felt like afterthoughts and weren't particularly tasty either, especially the miso soup. Ambiance is casual and loved the energy there. The restaurant was a little too dark imho, kinda made it hard to see the food & take good photos if that's your thing. Service could be improved upon. Not really friendly even though the restaurant vibe is supposed to be casual, and I agree with the other reviewer that mentioned the dishes came out too quickly. It was a very rushed meal and the dishes came out one after the other. There wasn't any chance to really savor the food and have some downtime.

We absolutely LOVED eating here! We celebrated our anniversary and it was a meal to remember. We will be back. We did the $160 omakase and ate at the sushi bar. Highly recommend making reservations. The ambiance is great and clean. Each nigiri was fresh, delicious and unique. The staff was so nice and accommodating. My only least favorite was the squash soup. Other than that, we walked out full and satisfied.

It's a bummer to give this low rating to Robin esp since it's not about the food / service but their booking system and a complete lack of accountability in making things right. I have been a HUGE Robin sushi fan and wanted to take my brother to experience the amazing food. We made our reservations on Google (that has a resy integration) 3 weeks in advance, added our credit card and got a confirmation. After being excited all day, we got there 20 mins early and they tell us "our reservation doesn't exist in the system". We showed them the live link to the reservation confirmation email on our phones while they continued to repeat "we don't have a reservation" Finally we asked for the manager who seemed annoyed to have to talk to us. While I understand it's not anyone's fault, your system isn't set up correctly and there was a lack of empathy that was disappointing. He ultimately said he'd reach out in a few days to rebook us for a different day and take care of us given the inconvenience. Its been 3 weeks and I still have not heard from anyone. Have some accountability, check your tech stack / integrations between google / resy and treat your customers better. Lastly DONT make your reservation through Google (screenshots below) even if they STILL allow you the option to book through there. As much as I have loved Robin, time to find a few omakase spot.

I am a big fan of Omakase, so when I saw Robin on the recommendations list for places to eat in San Francisco, I was sold. This isn't a traditional Omakase place. I would say just because there's a lot of Asian fusion in the bites. they don't really have a set menu for a Omakase, but they do give you a range of how much you want to spend. The range was between $100-$200. We opted for the $150 option since we wanted to eat the more expensive fishes such as Uni. every single piece of fish taste of very good. I am a big fan of truffle, and I would say about more than 50% of the fish had truffle on it. I would love to come back and bring new folks to try this place out so i can see how they experience it!

I came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and the reservation process and service were great. I texted the restaurant beforehand asking if the price could not be mentioned as I was treating him and they were very accommodating. They wished him a happy birthday when we arrived and even brought out our dessert with a candle at the end which was very sweet. As for the food, we thought all of the dishes were good (no misses) with some standouts being the black cod nigiri and the uni wagyu. I will say that the pieces were quite small. The nigiri is not your typical omakase size but more like a mini version. I left feeling full but I also don't have a big appetite; I think if you did, or if you were particularly hungry that day, you would not be full. I also do wish there was some sort of paper menu listing each dish because I tended to forget what the waiter said about each plate, and it was especially hard to keep track when they brought out multiple pieces at once. The plating was absolutely beautiful and the ambiance was nice and modern. I didn't think the music was too loud as other reviewer's have mentioned.

Fun, casual, and fully customizable fine dining omakase experience! Quite often, if you want high quality authentic omakase, you'll be stuck in a quiet Japanese restaurant with a bunch of etiquettes. Like why so serious? Not here! There was pop and hip hop playing in the background and the sushi was so fresh and delicious. The Wagyu nigiri topped with shaved foie grad was my fave piece... soooo gooood.Highly recommend this place to catch up with friends over good food!
Be the first to ReplyOne delicious bite after bite.
Yes it's expensive but if you like sushi and specifically omakase, it's a must treat. Prices range 99-199 and you select your price point. Right in the middle is the sweet spot. I will say it's a lot of food for an omakase. I don't recall the # of dishes and multiple pieces, sometimes 3/4, per dish but you will not leave hungry. One disappointed was the dessert. Did not match the level of the rest of the meal and in fact I wish there was an option to skip. It's the last bit and the one you leave with.

Great food, good serviceSushi bar seating is recommended, but I had to book a month in advance for the same. Music is good but little too loud if you are interested in listening to the chef. You can also send them email in advance if you have dietary restrictions and they will take care of the same. Also please go bit early to find parking.
Be the first to ReplyI honestly wish I could give more stars.
Everything was fantastic! The food was amazing and the service was great! Choose the $160 course and would definitely go back again.

Savor every bite! Super fresh, great wine, creativity through the roof. Impossible to walk out of there without a smile.
