Amazinng Hole in the Wall!
This Rocio Camacho is known as the goddess of moles. I have reviewed her newest restaurant La Diosa de Los Moles in Paramount. Rocio's Mexican Kitchen is her first restaurant on the south side of Los Angeles in the suburb of Bell Gardens. This is a tiny non-descript building with room to seat about 25 people max. 8 girlfriends went for lunch and I don't think anybody was disappointed. Rocio is Oaxacan and it is their food that she cooks. Lovely dishes with a variety of moles and wonderful empanadas served very simply in this little hole in the wall. Everything is fresh and housemade. We got a laugh when we brought a bottle of wine to share. They panicked because they had no wine glasses. They brought coffee cups and some stainless steel mugs. We convinced them that water glasses were just fine. This place really gets busy. No reservations. Show up an hour before meal rushes. I think we showed up at 11 a.m. for lunch and by 11:30 the place was packed. Rocio has opened another restaurant in the city of Bell called Mezcal Y Tacos. I will have to try it soon. Stay tuned.

This is truly authentic Mexican, as the sauces (mole, crema de flor de calabaza, flan de rompope, tortillas) are all made from scratch and by hand. It is a little restaurant on a corner, inside there are only a few tables (maybe 5?) with more seating outside. We tried all moles, and they were all delicious! Just so that you know, the chef is known as the "Godess of Mole". Just sayin'.
Be the first to ReplyA gem and a unique dining experience
Rocio's Mexican Kitchen is an absolute gem a unique dining experience, where'the mole is home made and resh and if you know how difficult it is to MAKE mole, you will'hurry there at the first possible opportunity for a superior dining experience. They also'offer other items and the churros for dessert, must not be missed (so save room).

OMG Mole
the purpose of my journey was to vote the day before election day which took me to Norwalk and a line too long for my patience. but i remembered that Bell Gardens was home to some great Mexican food and a little googling led me to Rocio's Mexican Kitchen and boy am i glad. it was amazing. a small place with inside and outside dining. but it is a gem. i would travel far for this place and i did and i will again.
i had the cheese enchiladas with green sauce and they were great. but the specialty are their moles, 6 different i think. i had the Oaxacan with chicken and it was life changing.
a little expensive for the neighborhood; but not for the quality of the food.
this place is special
