Very bad experience
The view is great, everything else is a disaster. Bad service, bad food and improvised barlady. very bad.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing view, great food!
My only bad point.. the security man was rude, please take ID if you go here, this would be helpful to know when making the booking. We booked beforehand. The view is outstanding. The food was great! We were expecting small meals and we were very happy with the set menu. The lady who was serving us was very friendly and suggesting cocktails. We would return.

We made the decision to come here after a poor experience at another bar on my birthday, and this place was just what we needed :)! What a cool experience, I feel bad I didn't get the name of the bartender because he was amazing! We ordered their frozen pouch drinks (Peach Bellini was delicious) they come with these cute little duckies, and he slipped me an extra, gave me a shot and wished me a happy birthday. The atmosphere was way cool, so many photo opportunities, and we met some really cool people in the Igloos! I would go back here again if I could, and maybe next time I'm in NY I will!
Be the first to ReplyIndoor/outdoor rooftop bar with great views
Fun rooftop bar with heated igloos as well as a dance floor inside. It was $20 to get in but included a choice of a well drink, wine, or beer. They have food for purchase as well. There were a lot of good photo ops and the place became more crowded as the night went on, so try to get your pics in first. There were some couches/tables, but the DJ was really good, so we spent most of our time on the dance floor. We actually randomly met the owner, who was really nice. Overall, a good spot to take your friend whoās visiting from out of town as well as bring a big group to celebrate a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Views, bad doorman
Visited with husband & 2 teens (ones birthday) and had checked prior via Insta that it was possible On arrival the couple in front were refused entry as no ID i only had my Driving license, this lead to a probably 5 minute lecture off the doorman about having ID I explained i had passport pics but he just ranted on and on, i stood stunned as i felt this was going to end in refusal and ruin daughters birthday plans. He eventually waved us through and we made it to the rooftop. It was very quiet so no servers so just go to the window for drinks. Friendly but slow 1 beer, 1 soda, 1 hot choc and 1 pineapple mule was $47 Its a great setting for insta pics and Empire State views Just a shame it had a dampener at the beginning but we did enjoy once we got past the grumpy guard

All Christmas decs still up on roof top, no signs to say order at bar downstairs, very poor options on menu considering happy hour? No cocktails? It maybe February but tourists are still here NY!
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it!
Very disappointed with entire experience. Found this place on TikTok before our trip and decided we wanted to try it, the atmosphere looked exciting. The menu is insanely small, not a lot of options for food (or drink options). The restaurant itself was so dark we couldnāt read the menu (Iām 40, itās not like Iām wearing bifocals). The food portions were elf size and very bland and basic. INSANELY overpriced. I could have dealt with the price if the food was at least good, it was horrible. Our dinner for 5 people was over $500 and we all left hungry and got a slice of pizza around the corner that was 10 times better. The only thing good about this place was the view.

Not a good experience : Cocktails at this rooftop were disgusting , I ve never drunk cocktails like that. Knife and Forks were in plastic, itās not sustainable development. We are in 2022 guys , think about our planet ! And one more thing: They take your credit cards and passport at the beginning ...itās the policy they said ! So at the end , the view wasnāt that bad , the food (probably from the freezer) was eatable but I will recommend you to go to an other rooftop even if itās a bit more expensive ...

July 2021 I visited 230 fifth rooftop and our entire party was blown away. This place was the b in the bomb. The view was spectacular, the atmosphere was great, the rooftop was filled with customer and the food was decent. We enjoyed drinks and dinner. So when we returned to NYC this July 2022 we were eager to visit it again but this time we were greeted with much disappointment. When we arrived at the rooftop, only to find tables and chairs all over the place nothing was in order. Food and garbage all over the floor. No host or servers whatsoever and only a hand full of customers here and there. The place looked abandoned. We could order food from the bar. šWe kept asking ourself what the heck happened to this place?! It was such a hopping place a year ago. Was it New management? It had gone from a 10 to a 1. š

Weāve come to New York for my daughters 21st birthday. She really wanted to experience a roof top bar and had done lots of research over the last two years. She decided to go for 230 fifth, as it looked really lovely. The hotel rang ahead to see if we needed to have a booking but told us to walk in. After being asked to stand aside in the line to find our ID the security guard at the door continued to let people in, ignoring us even though he could see we were ready. While I was watching, he let someone in without showing ID at all. He then proceeded to lecture us (me and my partner mid 40s to late 50s) about showing ID. We knew it was important, hence carrying it with us, but it was the way he spoke to usā¦ felt like we were back at school. If you want to create a customer experience where people feel unwelcome and patronised, your front of house has certainly achieved it. We chose not to go in because felt completely belittled. Why would you put someone at such a special venue with such attitude welcoming guests (or not as the case may be!). I am really pleased my daughter was with us and didnāt go on her own, if the guy on the front door was anything to go by, he didnāt show a thread of care or empathy for us or other guests. If youāre looking for a roof top bar, we ended up at the Moxy and it was wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyIts a rooftop brunch.... until it isn't. absolutely awful and complete waste of money
We booked a rooftop brunch experience. Told them in advance it was our wedding anniversary. Beautiful sunny day in NYC and even though we saw people going to the rooftop they said we had been sat inside as too cold (it was around 60 degrees). I asked repeatedly to be moved but was declined - I honestly was wondering if I had done something to upset them. We'd paid in advance so I was over a barrel. What we got instead was below average Mexican food served on sticky sofas in a dingy nightclub with a bottle of $7 Andre and not even a table up against a window! you couldn't practically eat sat on the sofas on the lap style tables, the DJ kept changing house music and playing it so loud that at times you couldn't hear yourself talk. At the end of our breakfast I went up to the deck to take a picture to find the whole deck absolutely buzzing with a New Your experience. I asked to speak to someone afterwards as I didn't want to ruin our anniversary brunch but they relegated me to chatting to them via whatsapp and then asked me to email them which of course got no response. I would avoid this place like the plague and NEVER NEVER pay up front for your reservation
Be the first to ReplyBOOZY BRUNCH AT THE 230 ROOFTOP BAR ?
I like to do mostly positive reviews but a few things about this place need to be said although we had booked this over a month ago I was surprised by the doorman's attitude insisting on id stating that's the way it is in his country my wife found a picture of her passport on her phone and we were allowed in however no id required from me also he never asked about our booking so if you have any id your in, Then we were led up to a nightclub basically mega loud and full-on when we asked about the rooftop dining thingy we were informed that was off as it had been raining earlier, The girl was really nice and no one seemed to mind the over 50 folks that had just arrived, we enjoyed the fish and chips and the two bottles of sparkling wine included ( all media and literature say 90 minutes of Champagne ) after the 80 minutes were over we asked about the rooftop and this time we were allowed up with a small glass of the aforementioned wine. but no more as it was a working bar I don't know if you ever get to have a boozy brunch on the roof just clarify when you book or you'll be in the nightclub too. We really loved the rooftop bar and met several interesting people a great ending after a slightly slippery start.
Be the first to ReplyPublic facing doorman is in the wrong job!
We visited a few days ago as my daughter wanted to get some pictures. Views lovely, especially of the ESB and the sun came out just as we got there which made it nicer. Drinks prices so so, plastic glasses but thatās fine. The doorman/bouncer (tall guy wearing glasses and a beanie hat) however is quite literally the rudest person Iāve ever come across, especially for someone in a front of house role. We did mention it to the lady in the bar who said it wasnāt the first complaint and from reading reviews can see itās not just us heās been rude to. Which begs the question WHY is he still in this role? Especially in the USA which prides itself on excellent customer service. This guy is the first person customers come across when enteringā¦I can guarantee thereās a lot of customers who have gone elsewhere because of him. Which is a shame because although itās pricey, the building and rooftop bar itself is lovely. Could have been so much better though.

When entering the bar the bouncer wanted a 20$ entry fee each person. We did not want to pay since we did not want to stay long and maybe have only one drink. When turning to leave he ushered us in - at first we felt delighted over his hospitality. But later we noticed no one was getting asked an entry fee. This seemed VERY strange, but we are not 100% sure if it was a scam and to where the 2x20$ would have gone to.š
The bar itself: the drinks were miserable. Gin and soda literally not trinkable. Also served in plastic cups. Bar is not in a good shape (anymore). Almost not found a place to sit since every table was allegedly reserved, yet the bar was not at all full and no one showed up to sit at the tables in the hour we been there.
Also we can confirm the other bad reviews about the bad view on the terrace. The big fence makes it very hard to see anything. The waiters we talked to were nice though.
NEVER EVER AGAIN!
Dont be fooled by the instagram pictures.
The service was TERRIBLE!! Waitresses and host especially. I booked an igloo months in advance, sent several emails confirming I had booked it, only to get there and told I am not getting one and the woman put her hand in my face as if to say shut up. RUDE RUDE WOMAN!
The decor was cheap and nasty.
The drinks were overpriced, and took a long time to come to the table
Save your money, DO NOT GO HERE.
Great view
On arrival we were asked for ID, my partner didnāt have is but we were allowed in anyway. We made our way up to the rooftop where it was quite empty. We had a look around and took some pictures of the great view and then got a drink.
The waitress at the bar would not crack a smile at all. The most miserable person Iāve met. She did make a good whiskey & coke and Mojito though! The 2 drinks cost us $20.
Worst bar in NYC
Server non polite, it was an horrible experience, they let teenagers drink alcohol, I really don't recommend this bar. Pour les franƧais, c'Ʃtait une vraie dƩception, le service pas agrƩable, les comportements inappropriƩ des serveurs, HORRIBLE !!

If zero stars was an option I would have put that.
Honestly, Iāve never had such a bad customer experience. On the night of the visit I spoke to a manager about getting my cold food and service charge refunded. Iām still awaiting this.
I have emailed several times, tried to contact them on Facebook and Instagram, and nothing.
I genuinely donāt think they care one single bit about customer service. I went to New York for Christmas, went to multiple bars and this was by far the worst we visited.
Please donāt waste your money going there.
