Unique Indian Dinner w/ Great Food & Service
We came here for my wife's birthday and wasn't disappointed. We ended up getting a later reservation since we had to drive downtown (at 7:30pm) and by then it thinned out and there were only about 3-4 tables full. Reading the reviews it looks like we missed the craziness of the 5-6pm dinner rush. The service was great (gave solid recommendations), menu wasn't too overwhelming, good appetizer and drinks, and a few desserts. I would say this isn't your traditional Indian restaurant, I would say this is more of a modern/fusion type take on Indian (which you could tell from some of my pics). I would have liked to see just a few more options on the main dinner menu but all-in-all a great experience and we'll be coming back.

We had a great meal at this Indian restaurant. We were celebrating my birthday and they came out with a candle in a scoop of saffron ice cream.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect place to go if you DO NOT want to converse with your date
We made reservations, drove an hour for our one night out in two months, and sadly Rooh had the atmosphere of a sports bar on an Ohio State vs Michigan game day. One table ruined the experience for ten other tables who couldn’t hear anything except the loud man who was seated in the middle of it all. Which, ok, maybe he’s drunk or insecure about his manhood, who knows? The worst of it was, when I asked the owner of Rooh if he could please ask the man to stop yelling so loudly, he decided it would be a great idea to go to him and point us out as the ones who complained. Being two women, he put us in danger by targeting us rather than handling it professionally. Rooh is a great restaurant if you want the sports bar atmosphere but if you’re looking for a place to go on a nice date in an upscale restaurant, keep looking. You won’t find it at Rooh. I will never spend another dime at their establishment, not because of the other patron but because the OWNER was so callous and thought nothing of putting a target on two women. We said what all the other patrons wanted to say, and not once did the owner try to make things right for anyone, or even apologize. With so many great restaurants in the Short North, I highly suggest taking Rooh out of consideration. Not worth the $30 a plate when you can’t even enjoy it, or talk, or feel your experience even matters. Go to Del Mar, a much classier place where the managers care about their patrons, and the patrons act like adults.

My wife and I went to Rooh tonight for dinner we had an amazing server, the food was amazing. However, there was an extremely loud man in the restaurant. We asked the owner/manager if he could do something such as ask the man to use his inside voice in this upscale restaurant. The owner reluctantly said, “you want me to say something to them?” He went over and said something then pointed at us and then the man was even louder. No one could have a conversation of their own due to this. When we asked about it they suggested we come at a quieter time. Great food, we had a kick ass server, however do not recommend to the lesbian crowd as it did seem a women’s request was trivialized and belittled, while men were allowed to do what they wanted at others expense. Which, at Rooh, the expense isn’t just a ruined night but a very expensive ruined night when plates are $30 and up. We felt like we were in a sports bar, not fine dining.

I went with my daughters who are both at Ohio State University. Having been to the Rooh in Chicago, I was looking forward to a great meal. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Most of the entrees we ordered were just okay - nothing special. The quality of the food was not worth the price. I am sure there are much better Indian food restaurants in Columbus for a better price.

Nice ambience but the food we ordered started out absolutely amazing, but then didn’t hold the same quality if flavors in the main courses. Our favorite appetizers were the lamb Kheema, shrimp and edamame Brel, cauliflower and kulcha. The main courses of butter chicken and nihari were a bit disappointing. They had a sweetness to them that didn’t go down very well with any of us. I’d definitely go back, but probably stuck to appetizers and treat it as a tapas style meal.

I had been looking forward to eating at Rooh ever since I saw the storefront in Sept 2021. We were in town for a convention in June and wanted to try it out. I love Indian food and it looked very interesting. We got the "AVOCADO & GREEN CHICKPEA BHEL" and it was wonderful. Lots of flavors and textures going on. We also got the "LAMB DUM BIRYANI." This was the most "typical" of the dishes that we tried. We also had "CAULIFLOWER KOLIWADA." Spicy and delicious. I really wish I had gotten a cocktail. They looked delicious. I look forward to going back.

Upscale Indian dining,Wonderful hospitality and service ,short creative menu
Mango mule ,Kerala fried chicken ,Amritsar Shrimp,Lamb curry ,coconut dessert had unique flavors. The waitress was able to explain each dish ;the ladies who greeted us the front desk kept checking on us regularly.
Naan was good but roti was a disaster.
Portions and price are what you get at high end dining .
Reservation is needed unless you want to take a seat at bar which may be become available after 8 pm.
There is no option to 41/2 stars …the roti took away the 5
Elegant Indian Food
Was pleasantly surprised with the table service and the execution of food at Rooh. The food was well prepared, they have some interesting takes on traditional cocktails, and everything was delicious. There seems to be a very close attention to detail no matter what is being served.
Our group of four ended up sharing all of our meals and the staff was accommodating by providing some extra plates for us. Everything was very delicious and not heavily spiced, but spiced enough that the wonderful flavors came through. Looking forward tol going back!
A feast for the senses!
Rooh offers delightful cocktails and dishes which have complex flavors and aromas and are visually stunning. We have only had small plates, but were thrilled with all of them. The restaurant is beautiful and service has always been excellent. We look forward to going back!
Be the first to ReplyFun Decor, Great Service, Delicious But Pricey Food
Stopped here for date night last week and the food was absolutely delicious. It was creative progressive Indian food and everything we ordered was great. The interior decor is thoughtful, fun, and themed. Service was wonderful - never had an empty water class. The only downside was the price. The portions are very small and the items are expensive, so in order to get enough for an entire meal it’s going to cost you a pretty penny. Would definitely go back but can’t afford to go frequently.

Food was outstanding, pricey, but well worth it - the fish curry was to die for. Wonderful small plates - so different and flavorful. Will definitely be back again. Could do with a few more selection of beers

My husband and I stopped in on a whim last Saturday as we were walking past. The beautiful decor caught my eye, and the creative menu posted in the window drew us in even though we weren't really hungry. I'm so glad we stopped!
We each had a beautifully crafted, refreshing cocktail (the Hyderabad Tonic) and shared a small plate of the Avocado and Green Chickpea Chaat which was utterly delicious. Such a small dish held so many complex flavors, different textures, and just the right amount of heat, that we devoured it greedily! Our server was attentive without being overwhelming, and a manger also checked in on us. Our seat in the corner by the open windows afforded us a first row seat for people watching on High Street, and the music was the perfect touch to the ambience. We couldn't have been happier with Rooh and look forward to going back the next time we are in Columbus.
What a creative menu ! Loved
What a creative menu !
Loved their cheesy Naan as a starter ~ amazing could have shared another . Delicious cocktails , especially the one with fig .
I had the stuffed and rolled planner - incredibly tasty . My husband had the buttered chicken - ever so succulent and tender ! The garlic naan is also amazing .
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and proper social distancing during these crazy times .
Treat yourself to an excellent dinner.
SO GOOD! One of my new favorite places in the Short North
It's only been open a few months and I've been there 5 times. Every time I have something new and wonderful. I'm craving the Beef Short Rib Curry so much that I might go there tonight! Beautiful interior, great staff and good drinks.

Enjoyed dinner with friends on a busy Sunday night over a three day weekend. Sampled small plates, large plates, cocktails and a few wines by the glass... all pretty solid. Server was friendly and knowledgable... dishes were brought from the kitchen as they came off the line... all crowd pleasers even at a table with a variety of dietary restrictions. We ordered a few well balanced cocktails and sampled a few good mid-range wines to complement about 6-8 plates... no disappointments. Overall the dinner was pretty solid and offered a lot of variety. The dining room is large and lacks some of the intimacy we usually find in our favorite spots... but its definitely worth a second visit for sure!
