Rovi was absolutely the best meal of our recent trip to London! We sat at the bar for dinner and enjoyed the savory Broccoli with Jerusalem artichoke, miso ssamjang and yuzu vinegar to start. The Burrata was good but probably the weakest link of the meal. I loved the polenta encrusted mushrooms and the kale bhaji. Even though we ate all vegetarian dishes, they were quite filling and we ended up cancelling our order of gnudi. The wines were equally inventive and we thoroughly enjoyed a robust red wine of some kind from Georgia (former Soviet state).Highly recommend!!

This was our second time at Ottolenghi restaurant in London (after NOPI) and it was just as amazing. The ambiance was very nice, the service - impeccable and the food - absolutely delicious! We followed the recommendation from our hostess and everything was just perfect. We shared several items, family style, but if I really have to rave about one item, that would be the shawarma! Special thanks to Ciara for compliments from the restaurant! We will definitely come back next time we're in London!

Came here for dinner the other night and the food and service is outstanding. We had the Burrata, Broccoli, chickpeas and halibut. We're bursting with flavor and wonderful appetizing textures. Although this is London where space is often tight; this location was a VERY tight squeeze. You are essentially dining with others if you happen to get a seat at the banquettes. This I didn't like as the folks to the right and left of me listened to literally every word of my confidential conversation. I was also told I hat a time limit at the table which frankly I'm not a big fan of so although I loved the food, I'm not 100% I'd return. I think they need a bigger space.
Be the first to ReplyWithout a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants in London.
I wanted to visit here because Phil Rosenthal (Somebody Feed Phil) ate here and raved about their celeriac shawarma. He said something to the effect of "if all vegetables tasted like this, I wouldn't need to eat meat again", and he was right. It was worth the hype, and one of the best vegetarian dishes I ate of the year. Other must order dishes include:Polenta crumbed mushrooms: oyster mushrooms fried with polenta crustSide of warm chickpeas: great tangy seasoningMiso fudge dessert: Bite-size rich chocolate caramel squaresBarberry pudding: Hard to describe this one, but a mix of ice cream, fresh apples, and many other goodies. With that said, Rovi has quite a few dishes I'd skip, meaning that this restaurant can be very hit or miss - so order carefully!Skip:- Jerusalem mixed grill- Collard greens- Sourdough (get the pita instead)- Trifle dessert- Spaghetti squashIf you stick with my recommendations I guarantee a 5/5 lunch or dinner!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing rustic Israeli food.
I was beyond impressed with the whole interior and the food. They have a nice bar in the center and its an open kitchen concept which makes it feel like you are part of the whole experience. The service was great, it gets pretty packed around 5-8 so be sure to make reservations. Had this tomatoes crostini dish that was by far the best way to start the meal. For main we shared the Celeriac Shawarma which was outstanding. It was meaty and flavor. Also had ton of drinks, a tad pricey but delicious. The prices are comparable to NYC prices.

We went for lunch during our first trip to London, and tried a few items including the celeriac shawarma. While this was good, there are many other items we liked way more. The cocktails were pretty good as well. We opted for window seating to people watch. Our server was also fantastic in recommending plates. I would return.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, excellent service.
Fun small plates choices to share. We ordered modestly, and kept cost reasonable. Friends at another table were not quite so careful. A good time can be had by all!

Ottolengi's is probably very hyped up and I kept that in mind as I know these kind of places can end up being average. I was deeply disappointed in the food and service. The grilled mackerel was overly salted and the seasoning/garnish flavors did not come through because it was so salty. The pita was good but it was a stingy piece, smaller than the palm of my hand which did not make sense as the entree was so salty. The grilled cucumber was okay, quite edible. The west 1 cocktail was honestly the highlight. If I was just getting drinks, it would've been fine. I paid 65£ and it simply wasn't edible enough.
Be the first to ReplyIt deserves all of the stars.
We ordered the Ricotta gnudi, Jerusalem mixed grill with mushrooms, celeriac shawarma, grilled leeks, and the ottolenghi grown tomatoes and every single thing was fabulous. We enjoyed the piña y piña cocktail as well as the sesame macaron dessert. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best restaurants hands down.
Wonderful flavors. Great service. Top notch cocktails, old fashioned, nice selection of wines and beers. Jerusalem grilled vegetables with pita, pickled sides and middle eastern dips. Grilled octopus. Celery sharwarma. All amazing. Tasty grilled lab on the bone. Grilled leeks and side potatoes also good.
Be the first to ReplyAs my friends know, I like my food.
Saw this place on Someone Feed Phil so we thought we'd give it a go. Without doubt the best meal I've ever had anywhere in the world. Spectacular!
Be the first to ReplyGreat flavors from starters to mains to dessert.
Hand baked pita paired with tahini was perfectly balanced. The fennel meringue was superb when combining the sorbet, meringue and lemon filling. Many vegetarian options of very high quality and taste. Will come back again soon. I think the red wine selection by glass is varied but weak compared to the bold flavors of the food. I would like to see a big Bordeaux or Napa Cabernet to pair with the mains. Again, excellent.

Be the first to ReplyReally good ambience we ordered a lot of small dishes.
The chicken shawarma was delicious! Definitely a highlight from all the dishes we ordered. The dessert was OK. Nothing too memorable about it.

I loved Ottolenghi and Nopi (even bought his cookbook) so naturally I also had to try the sister restaurant, Rovi.As with the other two restaurants, the vegetables are always the focus so I came here with a few friends and really enjoyed a lovely vegetarian brunch. We ordered 2-3 different small plates each to share so we could try as many things as possible! The tempura stems & herbs, hot tomatoes and Nama Yasai new potatoes are a must! Everything felt really clean and simple but tasted delicious and were really filling at the same time. I loved that each dish had a refreshing and creative element e.g., the tempura stems came with a watermelon and lime leaf vinegar, and the new potatoes were dressed in lovage & preserved lemon butter, so yum!The desserts looked really good as well but we were so stuffed, so I'll definitely making space for this next time.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, but didn't really meet expectations.
I'm a huge Ottolenghi fan so was really excited to learn they had a full-service restaurant when I was planning my most recent trip to London. Our table wasn't ready when we got there, so had to wait a little while - then got part of a communal table in a corner. It was pretty well lit, and not too loud, so we weren't complaining. The food was good - it just didn't blow me away. Service again, was good but didn't blow me away. At the price point, looking for a bit more.

This restaurant was so busy on a Monday night we had to wait for our table despite having a reservation! No complaints, it was such a great atmosphere, and the food was delicious. The artichoke chips were really delicious (fried), but the burrata was our standout appetizer. It was so creamy and delicious and the sweet flavors complemented it so well (we ordered sourdough with it). The squash and pumpkin was a little underwhelming, as were the tempura stems, which came as a gift from the kitchen. I personally loved the grilled octopus because it was so inventive! It came with almost an Indian style chickpea (cholay) and paratha (fried naan), which I have never seen anywhere else and devoured! We also got the Jerusalem mixed grill, which was chicken thighs and livers, but this was overkill in terms of quantity and a bit underwhelming. The drinks were also really refreshing and tasty. Overall, great dining experience, but a bit pricey compared to other meals we had that were better.

Came here with a friend and tried several of the small dishes. A few dishes in, she told me this was the most vegetables she ate. Haha. We started with the Campari vitamin c drink which was refreshing and nice. Then had the pork and prawn crumpet which came out warm and delicious with a nice spicy nam prik sauce. Stem and herb tempura was crunchy with a nice citrus vinegar dip but it was mostly batter. Charred leeks was the best dish of the night with its creamy texture and charred flavor. Hoggets ribs were quite fatty and little too sweet for me. Jerusalem artichoke chips were cooked similar to roasted potatoes when I was expecting "chips" thin and crispy. Celeriac shawarma didn't come out so we cancelled bc we were full but disappointed because I wanted to try it. Instead we ordered 2 desserts. Chocolate saffron cake with Jerusalem artichoke ice cream. The liquid inside had a strange flavor I wasn't used to but enjoyed the ice cream. The other was tahini cream paximadia (reminded me of a savory biscotti) caramelized figs. The service started off great when we arrived at 7pm. The server was friendly and knowledgeable but towards the second half of the meal we felt a bit neglected. Overall it was a nice experience but not enough for me to come back.

My only regret would be not having enough room to try their most 'renowned' dish, the grilled halibut. We started with the lobster crumpet (kumquat and chilli sauce), which was speckled with black and white sesame seeds and dusted by dry spices. Excellent. The kumquat and chilli sauce was colorful and bright and decidedly Asian (a theme) - very Thai (fish sauce). Next, the beef and offal kofta (all-spice, smashed cucumber), which was uniformly excellent with a trace of smoke and a deep savory power. My first thought was that the tempura stems and herbs (Szechuan, watermelon, lime leaf vinegar) was a clever gimmick to make money by stretching product. Regardless of whether that was or was not true, it was delightful and brilliantly salted. The dipping sauce was another fish-sauce sort of thing. The piattoni beans (goat's cheese, peach, smoked almonds) would be the first miss. There was a nice smokiness to the flat beans, but it was a bit bland and inelegant on the plate and there was not a proper balance between peach and goat's cheese. By the time the smoked mussels (squid, kohlrabi kimchi, peanut and chilli oil) arrived, the palate was a little fatigued. The dish was bright, zippy, and again, leading with Asian profiles, but it was not extraordinary. The BBQ herb stuffed mackerel (aubergine, pepper ezme) was rich and beautiful to behold, but I wasn't especially enthusiastic about its argument. The Jerusalem artichoke chips (confit garlic), new to the menu at the time, were deep-fried cuts of artichoke and they were fine but a bit boring. Including service and drinks (which I did not cover), overall, it was an excellent experience.

Called me at 6:30pm on Saturday to cancel my reservation at 7:45pm because "the fire alarm was going off". Needless to say, it is near impossible to get a reservation that late on a Saturday. Ruined my night.
Be the first to ReplyRovi was solid inventive Indian.
As a tourist visiting from the U.S. I appreciated the take on beef jerker with the carrot jerky (a very flavorful room temperature dish). The amuse bouche was some nicely prepared warm butter beans. I also had the tomatoes, which were good but i expected a bit more salt/seasoning. Then followed with the vegetarian shawarma which had pickled shallots and other veg, the best dish!
Be the first to ReplyThis is just a breakfast review.
Sunnyup eggs were overdone like crazy and yolks were like chalk. Nothing special about the english breakfast or green shakshuka. Even having reasonable expectations, id rather just make us breakfast at home than eat here again. Would pass on this breakfast and try elsewhere...
