The ambiance and the food itself are fantastic.
Wish I could've had one of everything on the menu. It's not going to be your cheapest breakfast/brunch/etc., but that's to be expected with deli fare. To return for another meal!
Be the first to ReplyThe salmon was delish, the bagel was meh.
More hype than it's worth. Glad to have tried it during brunch with a friend but 2 open face salmon bagels with coffee was $50 and way more than what it's worth. Nice atmosphere and really attentive staff. Note if you ask for extra cream cheese, they'll charge you.
Be the first to ReplyWe came around 8:30AM and there was no wait.
The service was great and our food came out within 10 minutes! The classic salmon board was really good and a must try if you come here! I didn't think I would like it but the smoked salmon/onion/tomato combo was perfect. I really liked being able to put together my bagel too. The green onion cream cheese spread made the bagel even better. I'd also recommend asking for pickled onions to add to your board. I did not enjoy the blintzes due to the cheese texture but my friends liked it. IG: tiffsfoodreview

What a wonderful experience my buddy Stu and I had at Russ & Daughters Cafe. Never been to the restaurant only the Appetizing Store. We both ordered The board with nova and goat cheese cream cheese. Absolutely delicious. With tomatoes onions and capers. Our sever was a young woman who was phenomenal. They served us complimentary seltzer water. We both had a wonderful experience. Thank you so much Russ & Daughters

My first time there. New bar set and hoping to be able to enjoy this place again soon.

I really enjoyed this place but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We got the classic and the potato latkes with salmon roe. The everything bagel was just alright -- I honestly didn't see anything special about it and it doesn't compare to the other iconic bagel places in NYC like Tompkins or Brooklyn Bagel. It went very well with the salmon and cream cheese though. The latkes were good, although I found them to be a little dry on their own. The salmon roe was delicious, and paired really well with the crรจme fraiche.Great place for a satisfying breakfast, but I wouldn't rave about it.

..Being New Years Eve, I felt a bit celebratory and decided to go big and ordered the soft scrambled eggs with Caviar and Champagne. Unbelievably delicious and worth every penny! We'll be back!

A great alternative to standing in line at the original Houston St. spot. You're going to pay a little more, and truth be told, a fancy board is not how I prefer my bagel sandwiches, but it's fun to feel a little fancy now and again, especially when the food is this good. The expanded menu is good too -- the latkes and matzo ball soup are great. And the desserts are not to be missed, especially the halva ice cream (the texture is a little weird, but I still like it).
Be the first to ReplyWent here on a Tuesday morning.
Seated at the counter after a 20 minute or so wait. I got a molasses egg cream, yummy. Husband got coffer soda. It was so good we asked how to make it at home. Shared a knish and a bialy platter. The lightest bialy I every had. Salmon was melt in your mouth. Worth every penny. Also tried the pickled herring trio, which looked so pretty, but we just could not stomach it. Nothing bad about it, just came to the conclusion that pickled herring is not for us. Got raspberry rugelach to go. Can't wait to go back.

They've done a fantastic job with the space, giving it the full retro diner look, while also staying true to the original R&D; vibe. They serve breakfast all day, including eggs, bagels, smoked fish, matzoh ball soup, and all kinds of Jewish comfort food. All the classic bagel sandwiches come laid out on photogenic wood boards, which you've no doubt seen in your Instagram feed.

My friend recommended this place to me when I was in New York last December since I claimed to have never tried a New York-style bagel. The entire experience was all I could ever ask of a bagel place which exceeded my expectations in EVERY way.QUALITY. I ordered the salmon/sturgeon everything bagel with scallion cream cheese & brought back to my hotel to try. The quality of all parts of the bagel were regal and provide a perfect bite each time. They're not shy with the amount of ingredients, and yet, all the flavors were perfectly balanced and never felt overwhelming. That said, if you're not a huge eater, you can easily share this bagel with someone else or save the other half for the next meal. This place was so good, that I had to order (& split) another similar (except one added fish - so there were 3 types of fish this time instead of 2) order the next day. This time, while just as delicious, it felt like a bit too much fish for me, so I would would prefer my first order going forward.PLEASE do me a favor and try this place & make it your go-to regal bagel experience!
Be the first to ReplyBelow average tasting Bagels.
The hype is real and while visiting NYC we decided to go out of our way and try it. It's a good tasting bagel with smoked salmon but we didn't think it was that good to wait in line for 30 min not to mentioned it's prices. We would pay even more if we were blown away by it but we had better bagels in many other places. Would not go back.

Best bagel I've had. I ordered online for pickup and you actually have to get it at their other location around the building. Very nice service and they have an extra bagel :)

Our order:- everything bagel, pastrami lox, scallion cream cheese, tom, onion, capers- pumpernickel bagel, pastrami lox, horseradish dill cream cheese, onion, capersReview -- if half stars were available it'd be 3.5 --Ordering online and picking the order up outside the shop was convenient and safe. The order wait time for pickup at 11:30am on a Saturday was an hour. The food was definitely good, however we weren't impressed with the bagels. We've had better at random bodegas and elsewhere. I intentionally ordered a pumpernickel bagel because I was expecting a strong flavor, but it was super subtle if anything at all. The pastrami lox was definitely delicious and good quality. But overall a $43 meal of just two bagelsl sandwiches and an hour wait -- my opinion is save your money and time and go somewhere else that is decent.

Russ and Daughters was not very friendly and although their website says a seated cafe, they were not accommodating. They made us order online from a QR code outside and it was cold and rainy. ย I personally heard the owner say that it was much easier to do take out that they were going to ride that wave as long as they could. I was disappointed in the customer service as I had traveled a long way to visit the establishment. ย They need to update their website to "online orders only". The owner was snarky and unfriendly as well. ย I don't think it's going anywhere but maybe they will cheer up a little and be nice sometime soon.
Be the first to ReplyI'M DISABLEDlove this place.
It's a landmark. They don't need my review, but I just wanted to suggest outdoor seating for people waiting to pick up their orders. It was not a disability friendly process. As of February 24, 2022 there is no dine in and no outdoor seating. Take out only. We saw some folks inside waiting for their order, I let them know my partner and I were disabled, no seats were provided, and we were not invited to come in. Even with proof of vaccination.

Long lines, and overpriced fare, but as delicious as any cafe in the area and worth it if you don't mind the above
Be the first to ReplyThis place is amazing.
The best bagels I've ever had. Before I went here, I really did not think that bagels would be a worthwhile stop. But, I am so glad that I went. I understood. The lox with the salmon with the red onions is sooooo good.Try this place once. But, it's pretty expensive. So try it and then try to find another place that's a better value for the money. But try a real NY bagel here. Do it.

A really really good bagel place! We ordered online and just had to pick it up, but even so, it took a while for our order to come out. I don't think it's worth a crazy long wait, but it's a darn good bagel.

One hour and a half wait for a table seems excessive until you get in and the delightful fishy aroma hits you. Russ & Daughters is a true smorgasbord of New York Jewish thoroughfare and offers everything from lox to borscht to chocolate babka. We came for a double date and ordered the Ida platter (4 kinds of lox, assortment of bagels and bialys, pickled veggies, tomato, onion, and capers) and the pickled herring with vodka. The buzz from the vodka shot set the mood for the rest of the meal and we finished everything. Food's a little pricy so Will be coming back for special occasions.

I ordered bagels, sable, pumpernickel loaf, and a pumpernickel bagel with butter and lox. I ordered online early that morning and it was ready right on time, perfectly timed for my dad to pick me up nearby and eat my bagels. Everything was excellent. Sable is my absolute favorite, and near impossible to find where I live. Theirs is perfectly succulent, and buttery. Bagel was delicious and obviously, the lox is super high quality. I love pumpernickel, hence the bagel and the loaf, and theirs is so flavorful and better than most. Take home bagels were good even a few days later. You wait outside, tell the staff member your name, and they come out with your order. It's really easy and the staff is friendly. I can't wait to return to Russ & Daughters.
Be the first to ReplyHands down best lox bagel I've had in my life.
I am saddened by the idea that I've only tried this for the first time today. Wish I a time machine to gain 8 years of this bagel experience.Had everything bagel, lox, scallion cream cheese, red onion, tomato, and capers. Was delicious even through delivery. Will be ordering every Saturday morning moving forward.
Be the first to ReplyThe wait on a Friday was almost 1.
5 hours long, I believe you can pre order and get it at the cafe. Loved the current protocols during Covid, allowing maybe 3 groups max inside at a time (5 people). The interior was very cute and vintage looking. They had tons of different kinds of fish to choose from. We got the classic and the daughters delight. Both was delicious. Smoked salmon melts in your mouth! The bagel was on the harder side probably cause we toasted and left it alone for around 15 mins. Highly recommend if you love smoked fish paired with a bagel.
Be the first to ReplySo sorry to be writing this cause my experience earlier
So sorry to be writing this cause my experience earlier this year was completely different and I was soooo looking forward to hitting up Russ & Daughters. Might have even been longer ago as I was able to go inside last time. This time, the everything bagel was not just too salty but very chewy. Last time I went they packed the bagel FAT with salmon. This time, after paying extra for the good stuff, there was a very lean layer of salmon. ย I mean LEAN, like a if i pissed someone off lean. This, after an hour wait and it's NOT cheap. I don't mind paying for quality. I would've been more satisfied with bagels and lox from Costco...

Love this place! The horseradish cream cheese is so good and so it the matzo ball soup. My friend had the bagel with lox and loved it. Only taking off a star because my bagel was burnt and the workers were kind of rude
