Michael's Alley Restaurant in Palo Alto. I had the best meal I've had in a very l-o-n-g time. The sautéed Mt. Lassen steelhead trout (main course) was served with a fricassee of mushrooms and leeks and was SCRUMPTIOUS !!! Perfectly cooked, super tasty. St. Mike's always has excellent food, but this was an outstanding dish. The lemon tart I had for dessert was a perfect follow-up taste. St. Mike's is now open in both dining areas as well as outdoors, so I can't wait to go again!

My friends could only go out Sunday at 8 last weekend. We got a friendly greeting from the bartender when we arrived and were seated immediately...had a reservation. It was crowded but we could still have a conversation. One waiter served our whole area and was flawless. I had the spaghetti squash and it was heavenly. My friends had the Schezuapn duck and the other had sea bass. Everything was cooked to perfection. Great wine list. The cheesecake, profiteroles, and chocolate bread pudding were shared. BEST desserts ever! Highly recommend.

I'm not sure why we avoided this place for so long. I guess our first time was a bit of just a meh experience which was about 8 years ago. Came back tonight for our regular date night. Just for a change. We were seated inside where it's pretty quiet except for when a large group of people started singing Happy Birthday pretty loudly and actually funny and made us happy. They're obviously was having a fun party. Our server was very attentive. He was consistent on checking on us all through out the night. My husband ordered Trout and I had the salmon for our entree among other things that we got. The food is good. The wine is superb, the ambience is totally great for a date night. I'm glad we came here and gave it another chance. It's pretty cool place for a quiet Fridate night.

On the one hand the dishes we had were very good. The duck was top notch as was the pork belly appetizer. We would strongly recommend both. The wine list was also top notch with great choices from the old and new world. On the other hand, it is an expensive restaurant by peninsuka standards and they were missing a number of dishes. I guess they are having supply chain problems. Also, we learned later in the evening that we had been seated in the bar area, not the dining area. The bar area is a bar and a cold, drafty bar at that. They did have a space heater to help with the cold but it seemed underpowered for the size of the space. That being said, we were way overdressed for the bar area. Since this was our first time at St. Michaels, we just thought we had misjudged the class of the restaurant. Later in the evening, when finding the restroom, we found the dining room, which matched our expectations. When I asked the hostess why we were seated in the bar and not the dining room, she said that I had to specify on Open Table where I preferred to be seated. I shared with her that Open Table offers only outdoor and standard seating. There is no specification for bar seating. She had no response but clearly had at that moment realized she had made a mistake in seating assignments In the end, our hostess stuck us in a suboptimal seating, which didn't meet our expectations for this restaurant. For others contemplating to eat here, I'd suggest to clearly specify where you want to be seated: dining room, bar or outdoors. For us, we probably won't go back. There are better and warmer peninsula restaurants at this price point.

There was a monkfish special on and the monkfish was like a tennis ball. Really rubbery and shriveled up like a ball. Tasted bad as well. Not good.

It was pretty easy to make a dinner reservation, although I honestly didn't see why there was the need to when it wasn't busy at 6pm. *shrug* It's conveniently located close to Stanford campus, and there was plenty of street parking on a weekday.The ambiance is cute and quaint, and the servers were nice. I ordered sea scallops and brussel sprouts while my friend ordered the Australian filet mignon. Honestly, it's nothing to write home about. Like others have mentioned, for how nice the place looks, the food is pretty lackluster.The 3 scallops (yes, just 3), sat on top of a small bed of spaghetti squash, which was pretty bland, but the little bit of sauce that was drizzled on the side was a nice touch. The brussel sprouts were a side dish, and again, nothing spectacular. They were sauteed with bacon pieces, I believe. But it's something I could've easily made myself at home. My friend ordered the Australian filet mignon "medium rare", but it came out closer to medium-well, which neither of us minded, but a steak connoisseur would probably say otherwise. I wish I could write more about the food, but there wasn't anything outstanding about it, to be honest-nothing spectacular or different from what you could make at home. I liked that they had a selection of white and red wines though.For dessert, we shared a cheesecake. Cheesecake is always good, no matter where you go! Nothing special, just a cheesecake, but a sugary sweet to satisfy the soul.Overall, the dining experience was good, nothing out of the ordinary, but certainly not $200+ worth. I would probably venture elsewhere for a nice meal next time.

Well considering how nice the place looks I found the food mostly lacklustre. First off you have to like food with very different food combinations.We had a bunch of the mahi mahi. Came with chipotle risotto so I was curious... But it was completely bland... No flavour at all.. Even salt couldn't fix it... Sad... I thi k the others liked the Japanese fish dish. The only thing I will rave about is the pumpkin bread pudding... Delicious and I don't even like bread pudding... Carmel sauce and nuts... So good. Soft and delicious..

From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

It's fine if the sellers are just individuals that can't use the reservation. But just curious: 1. What's preventing people from creating lots of email accounts and write a script to book all the reservations FOR FREE then resale it here? 2. Since restaurants can be partners, can they benefit from the bidding? If so wouldn't this just be ridiculous? So a restaurant can sell reservations just like selling a ticket? And customers not only need to pay for the reservation also need to pay for the meal?

Once you place your bid, all sellers with a connection to the venue will start to work on fulfilling your desired time and date of the reservation. This process can be instant or may take a few days as most locations are either fully booked or hard to get! Stay tuned!

Best Answer Hey @HolisticQuestion30, whenever a bid expires, can't be filled or is cancelled by you, your funds are deposited in your AppointmentTrader Main Account in real time so you can use them for another bid instantly and don't have to carry multiple authorizations on your credit card for a number of days. You can access the funds with the credit card number that is shown next to your main account (labeled 'Show Card Number'). The real-time access is also true for any funds you earn from selling or reselling a reservation. You can use this card-number at any place online that accepts credit cards. (Currently limited to USD, multi currency support is planned.) AT is currently working on implementing a push-to-debit function, if you would like funds sent to your bank account before this feature is live, please email support [AT] appointmenttrader.com The team is usually very responsive and happy to assist with bridging any tech gap with their service :-)
