Great experience.
Had a family meal, with sometimes picky kids, and everyone loved it. The service was great and helpful and the food was very tasty. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a casual and really good meal.

I'ts expensive and you have to wait too much, but the meat is good. It's great if you want to bring home some meat because it's also a butcher.

tried this place for the first time & thought the food was really good! I got the steak and eggs with wagyu ($51 since I upgraded) and thought it was super delicious, fresh, and flavorful! I think the star of the show though was the bread with bone marrow butter! Absolutely delicious! I even bought a jar to take home from their store ($7). From the store you can also buy meat, milk, seasonings, and other products! The service was really good as well! Heads up that there is a service fee included in the check already, but you are always welcome to tip more (it was only 15%). All and all, i'd definitely come back and try more of their dishes!
Be the first to ReplyI feel guilty for not having written a review yet for Salt
I feel guilty for not having written a review yet for Salt and Time. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Consistently great food (if you're a meat eater, be warned- if you're not a meat eater this is probably not a super great restaurant for us) in a relaxed atmosphere, and with easy reservations to get. Even if you don't feel like a slab of meat, don't forget their meat-adjacent food options like their meat pastas! (I always get the burger-- it's possibly the best burger I've had in Texas.)What's not to love? Want to bring something home after dinner for a snack? Choose something from their delicious grocery area (highly recommend the Manoa chocolate). Will say though that our favorite thing was the pork chop, but the last time we had gone they had changed the type of pork chop that was offered or something, and it was very tough and salty. Kind of a bummer but has only happened once in all the times we've been there.
Be the first to ReplyI was planning my birthday trip to Austin, when I came
I was planning my birthday trip to Austin, when I came across this restaurant. I loved the idea of high quality ingredients and just insane beef in a butcher to plate environment. So, on my second to last day in Austin, my group came here for brunch. Two of us ordered the wagyu brunch burger and the other two ordered the underblade steak plate. I also ordered an order of Poutine for us to split. The meal was fantastic, the staff was more than friendly, and I couldn't leave without picking up some Texas beef. I purchased a wagyu brisket point, a rack of wagyu "Dino ribs" an underbelly steak, and some of their award winning enchilada sausage. So I talked with the manager to see if they offered shipping, and unfortunately, they did not. We did some brainstorming and came to the conclusion that I could carry it back in my luggage if I froze the meat and if we provided a buffer of sorts. The manager, (forgive me, I forgot your name, but she was amazing!) had the bright idea of loading 4lbs of ice and vacuum sealing it, so I may have some extra time. My flight wasn't until 5, but checkout was 12pm. I was able to leave my bag in coat check in the lobby while I explored the city before my flight. When I checked in at the airport, I was informed my flight had been canceled, and I was going to be rebooked for a later flight. On top of that, the new flight experienced a bird strike on the way in and had to go through a safety check. By the time I arrived back in San Diego, my bag had been exposed to the elements for over 12 hours. Needless to say, I was more than just a bit concerned about my precious cargo. When I arrived home, I opened my bag, and the ice pack was only a third melted, and the meat was still hard as a rock! Thank you so much for the attention to detail and your amazing customer service! I would give 10 stars if I could!
Be the first to ReplySadly, disappointed.
My partner and I went for dinner the other night and were excited after reading some reviews. The ambiance was great, but were utterly shocked at the mediocre food. When the plates came out, we didn't want to cringe at its appearance, but it wasn't great.. not even close to good. After the first bite of our meals, we quickly knew everything was cold and tasteless. My husband even mentioned how it reminded him of the burgers he was served at his middle school cafeteria in 1990. Adding, the burgers were actually better at school. We tried getting the attention of our waiter, but he was nowhere to be found, and when available, they were speaking with their colleagues near the bar even as we waved. After feeling ignored, we paid and headed home. Honestly, not an experience worth $90.
Be the first to ReplyWe had dinner here on Sunday with HH prices.
We both had the steak, salad and duck fat fries. All three were delicious and good size portions. Good atmosphere and a really nice waiter!
Be the first to ReplyRecently visited for my husband's birthday.
The service was lackluster...I felt like we were a burden to our server. He acted like I ran over his cat. The food...husband's steak was good. Tender, seasoned well and cooked to his liking. My burger, however, was burnt and overcooked as were my bottom of the barrel fries. Service fee...just don't. Raise the prices on the menu and pay your people a living wage. Maybe they will be happier about serving. I don't mind paying top dollar for good food and great service, and I'm sure most of Austin feels the same. I'm giving 2stars out of generosity...hubby's steak was good, but we will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyWe went here for a friend's birthday.
The food was good, although my $22 salad did not measure up to the price, especially after I was told the waiter would "ask chef" when I requested a different dressing. Everyone else seemed to like their food, but that was far overshadowed by the meh, pretentious service and the $27 "service fee" on an already $200+ tab. Of the 5 people at the table, 4 of the orders were cooked wrong or otherwise messed up, the tea was AWFUL (and probably $5 each), and it was generally indicative of the kind of bending over that is often called "trendy".Save yourself some money and go to Chili's. At least the service will be friendly and your burger will be cooked right. Or better yet, head over to Dirty's and help preserve an Austin institution before they're all replaced by places like this. Also, before you say "the service fee is to pay our staff higher wages", I call BS because a friend of mine quit because of the low pay. Just don't.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing burger made fresh from their shop.
You can make a reservation or they accept walk-ins. Perfect casual spot for a delicious meal. Great ambiance and they have a small store that make perfect gifts for your loved ones that enjoy cooking. Definitely recommend checking out this restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyLoved this place! Nikki helped us out and she was awesome.
Her recommendations on the food and drink were phenomenal. I don't think I've ever written a review in my life but I just felt like I had to say I was really disappointed with the brunette girl who worked at the butcher shop part. After our amazing meal my boyfriend was dying for some bacon and cold cuts and already had his picked out. When he went to purchase them it was 7:50pm and while they did close at 8pm the girl was already starting to shut down a little. After he super nicely said could I please get some bacon or are guys closed she responded "yeah why don't you work a full day." He was a little taken aback especially since he actually had worked from 6am- 6pm... more than a full day. Also we didn't see much action over there during our dinner and the restaurant was in full swing. She could have easily just been nicer about it or taken the 5 seconds to give this poor guy some bacon even though it was 10 minutes before closing of the butcher shop! Again had the best meal with Nikki just wish at such an amazing shop that girl could have been friendlier.
Be the first to ReplyNone of the food particularly stood out.
The charcuterie board was ok. People were nice enough, but they may have been understaffed. Service is very slow. There is a 15% service fee added on to your bill. This is not the tip.

Wow. Where to start. I googled best charcuterie in Austin, this was one of the first to pop up. It was close so we gave it a try. I had high hopes and was sorely disappointed. First of all, if you've never really done charcuterie do not make this your first try. If you know charcuterie, just skip it, trust me. This is a meat tray, not charcuterie. You can add cheese for another $6.. that cheese, was about an ounce of less than impressive Brie. The meats were not good. The boudin sausage was DRY.. literally crumbling as soon as you touched it. The prosciutto was super salty. The salami was meh at best.. there was some mystery meat that was surprisingly bland but had whole macadamia nuts in it?? The flavors were off across the board. If you're going to put bologna on a charcuterie board it better be exceptional. It was not. The only thing really "good" on the tray were the pickled onions. And the crostini were burnt. Like cut the roof of your mouth overdone. The drinks were over priced but strong, the only reason they're getting 2 stars.

Pork chop was over cooked and we had to send steak back because it was cold. And they had the nerve to serve me the same steak which was like rubber. Very sad because we love the butcher.

It was a nice place and the staff were very nice, but the steak was just ok and it was a little pricey all upThere's a 15% gratuity that's not a tip, so I felt I should tip on top of that, and for an a la carte steak that was nothing really amazing, a glass of wine and a can of sparkling water it ended up being like 93 buxI like that it was a la carte btw, since I don't really care for sides and stuff, but I'm not sure I'd come back
Be the first to ReplyProbably the highest quality meats spot in town.
They really focus on every detail, even the oil they fry their food in is grass fed beef fat.The wine is sustainable and organic. Perfect for those with food allergies.

The establishment looks beautiful and is well kept; however, the staff could do better on their communication skills. We are visiting from out of town and looked up restaurants in the area, before we head back to Houston. We were told that you have to have a reservation to eat their, but it was literally empty and not a customer in sight. In my opinion, it was really tacky in the way they went about communicating with us. No one tried to assist us in anyway, hardly any communication at all. Management should be at the forefront of all situations like this. It seems like the person in charge is either inadequate or you as a company decided not serve us for a couple of other reasons. No need for your silly response, but this is 2022, get with the program or your organization will cease to exist in the future.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, good atmosphere, nice staff.
For lunch. Roast beef sandwich was amazing . Oh and the sorbet was superv! Pepper was the pepper on the sorbet!
Be the first to ReplyAwful experience.
They were out of half the menu by the time we arrived then took an hour for the first course to arrive. When we raised the issue of slow service we were told we could leave if we didn't like it. Much better places in Austin.

After being transferred on the phone to 4 different people, they told me they couldn't switch my sandwich bread to a baguette (which they have) and when I asked why, I was told the sheer effort of it would "be too labor intensive." So I'm not sure what's in their bread but it seems maybe too heavy to lift? Maybe this was a 2 man job and they only had 1 man? I don't know. I went down the street instead.

The service is great with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. My order came out with nuts, an ingredient I had requested removed and they were apologetic and quick the fix my meal especially since I have a food allergy. The Caesar salad was very good though a bit challenging to eat since the romaine came out in spears but still delicious. Just a personal preference. I would definitely go again and try other items on their menu.
Be the first to Replyordered:-burrata-steak fritesthe burrata is more or less
ordered:-burrata-steak fritesthe burrata is more or less standard fare-- about what you'd expect. but the rest of the dish are what elevate it. the burrata is nestled in a bed of spring mix with a bright green pesto topped and confited tomato. the dish is served with thickly sliced and buttered bread that the menu calls focaccia. aside from the rosemary in the bread, it was much thicker and fluffier than any focaccia i'd had before-- reminiscent of a texas toast. the sunflower pesto was a pleasant surprise. the sunflower stood in nicely for pine nut and was a nice textural foil to the burrata by adding a subtle crunch that is not typical of pesto. while still rich, the sunflower made the pesto a bit lighter than your standard pesto--which again paired nicely with the richness of the burrata. the hanger steak was well seasoned and had a nice crust on it. the flavor of the meat itself was buttery with a very even gradient of pinkness throughout. the fries however were nothing special. the flavor of the tallow wasn't especially noticeable and i noticed the size and shape each fry was cut to was uneven-- though this didn't seem to affect the texture of the product much.

Have never written a Yelp review in my life but I felt obligated to this time. Went to Salt&Time based on the good reviews it got. Had an 8pm reservation and got seated promptly. The waiter came over and told us they were out of about half the menu. We stayed and ordered what was left. An hour and twenty minutes later after we had finished our $100 bottle of wine, we still had no food. We asked the waiter for the check for the bottle of wine so we could leave. They told us our food was ready and brought it to the table. The steaks and the pasta were both cold. We asked for the check to leave. They still charged me for the wine but apologized. Honestly I am an enormous foodie and have never experienced a restaurant in my life that was run this poorly. They should reassess every facet of their business because they have no idea how to run one. The night before I was at Hestia and it was impeccable. Maybe the Salt guys could do an internship with them to learn how to run a business. Please learn how to run a restaurant before you open your open your doors to the public. BTW, if I could give it 0 stars I would but yelp won't let me.
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to like this restaurant.
There seems to be mix reviews here on Yelp. BUT from my own experience, it was awful. The service was good and the servers were super nice. Unfortunately, this particular evening I got food poisoning from whatever I ate. Mocktails - 5/5Starters:Crispy Brussels Sprouts - 1/5Odd Bits - 1/5Pasta:Bigoli alla Carbonara - 4/5Meats & Mains:Wagyu Coulotte - 1/5Wagyu Bavette - 1/5Sirloin - 4/5Sides:Charred Broccolini - 1/5The servers and service was fantastic. The mocktail they came up with was super tasty. Their pasta was really good. That's where the positives end. Both Wagyu steaks were way under cooked and raw. Very little flavor and not a good Wagyu at all. The odd bits I ordered, were chicken hearts. I'm going out on a limb, and thinking since they were also under cooked, that's where I went wrong. The sides were not good at all. Bland, flavorless.I left the restaurant and headed home, not knowing the fresh hell that awaits me on my trip there. Within 10 minutes on the road, I was forced to pull over on the side of 290, projectile vomiting for almost an hour. I felt absolutely terrible for about two days. Sad, I really wanted to try this place.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my second time at Salt & Time.
I figured that if I picked a non peak hour reservation I would have a better experience that the first time but I was wrong. We ordered the burrata to share since it was one of the things that I tried to order last time I was there but they did had ran out. I ordered the steak and frites and a glass of Pinot Noir. The entrees came out but the burrata was nowhere in sight. We asked the server and he said he had forgotten but would put the order in and comp it. Not ideal, but we were looking forward to it and said okay. The hanger steak was inconsistently cooked (some parts were medium, others medium rare and there was a tiny part that was definitely rare). I did not mind cause it was delicious anyway. The showstopper was the chimichurri... very bold flavors. The burrata was worth the wait although I would have still preferred it as a starter. When we got the check, we noticed we were charged $2 extra for each one of my husband's beers. We let the server know and he promptly took care of it. However, another employee (perhaps the manager) seemed upset about it and kept saying pretty close to our table that the price for the beer should be $10 instead of $8 like it says on the menu and that he had requested that correction in the menus he had printed. I understand they should have been corrected to reflect the price increase but that is in no way our fault. Good meal though, but wish we had gone somewhere else.
