Fun and Delicious!
We brought some friends who were visiting from the East Coast to Sam’s Social Club for dinner after visiting a few wineries in Napa Valley. The menu had something for everyone’s taste (which varied from meat to vegan), and we all had a wonderful time! I had the salmon and ordered some Broccolini as a side. They both were perfectly prepared! I would definitely recommend a visit to Calistoga to enjoy this gem!

This was a really lovely experience on a recent visit to Napa/Calistoga. The food is excellent and each of the four adults and one child in our party of five (locals & visitors) was very pleased with the food, the service and the atmosphere. The server was excellent and the place was child friendly which we were delighted with at the end of a Napa Wine tasting day. We’d recommend the Pork Chop (fabulous), and the Market Ceviche and the Octopus - first class. A return visit to Calistoga is on the agenda for the next visit.

We drove about a half hour from our home in Healdsburg, for our weekend adventure. The restaurant was all remolded, it looking fresh with new landscaping on the hillside. We sat outside with the fall sun warming us. We both ordered a cobb salad, it was perfectly made with delicious bacon and the best blue cheese, it was out-of-this-world.
Be the first to ReplyAwful Experience
So we walked in sorry we didn't have a reservation but it was a Tuesday night in the off season and they weren't even busy. We were able to sit at the bar and the bartender was friendly and personable. We ordered two. Burgers one rare one medium and the Piri Piri chicken. When they brought our food they mixed up the burgers and didn't even aplogize or offer to correct it when my mom noticed she had the rare burger I had ordered. They were okay burgers not worth $24. The Piri Piri chicken was good but we felt totally unwelcome. We had a hit a log and upon arrival noticed we had a flat tire so.we called AAA when they arived they had to use a flahlight because the parking lot had zero light. I tripped and fell on the curb because I could see nothing in that pitch black parking lot. I thought I was okay but my left knee sweeled severely and I couldn't walk the next day or the day after. They must've seen me fall but didn't say anything either because they came and turned on the lights shortly after. I know I should have reported but I didn't think it was bad and I'm not a litigious person. I have never felt more unwelcome anywhere. It was an awful start to our Napa trip. The next night we ate at Solbar and they were so welcoming the food was outstanding and I was so grateful to be in a place with out of this world food and hospitality also so much more beautiful ambiance. Save yourself the wasted trip and head to Solbar instead!
Be the first to ReplyNice but is it worth it?
The atmosphere is definitely upscale wine country and the prices reflect that. While our table liked everything (excluding the steak) it is difficult to understand how they can fill the house consistently with a fairly limited menu. Probably one of the toughest steaks I have had - the team I was dining with even commented on the battle I was having with my steak knife. One of us had the vegan option - $30 for grilled cauliflower? I'm not going back.

We came here for breakfast on a recent trip to Calistoga based on the recommendation of several people, and ended up very disappointed. We arrived when it wasn’t very busy and we’re seated outside right away. It took a very long time for anyone to come check on us or take our order. We ordered coffees, a cinnamon roll, egg in a hole, and the avocado toast. Our coffees came pretty quickly but we waited approximately 30 minutes for the cinnamon roll. It was another 25-30 minutes after that when our breakfast arrived. During this time no servers came to check on us, or even ask how our experience was. We were given no explanation for the long wait time. After eating, we had to go seek out our check and pay inside. Overall, a disappointing brunch experience, and we would not return here in the future.

My husband and I had dinner last week while visiting and the food was really good. I had the salmon and my husband the steak. Our server was welcoming and very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant, we sat inside, but I think outside would have been more enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyA very unsociable experience! Definitely would not visit again. Customer service was very poor, we felt unwanted.
A very unsociable experience! My husband and I had dinner here and felt completely unwelcome. Customer service was not on the menu.

From the special coffee pots brought to your table to the dishes, service and food, this was a terrific (air-conditioned) place to start our morning on what would be a very hot weather day.
Be the first to ReplyAlways terrific
Service, food, ambience, all are top notch. The outdoor tent is amazing and huge, the waitstaff very attentive even during a very busy lunch hour.
The arugula salad with salmon was perfectly dressed and cooked and the fried chicken sandwich delicious.
It was fine.
Maybe it was a bad night, maybe it was the setting? ( under construction and cold in the tent)
After reading the reviews, we were hoping for a special dinner— it was fine.
Just okay
We were staying at Indian Springs so felt compelled to try their restaurant. Perhaps we ordered the wing things, but the deviled eggs were just okay, the potato leek soup was like a bowl of cream with no texture, and they were out of prime rib by 6:45 which was the main reason we booked on a Sunday. I didn’t feel like fish or pasta, chicken or pork, we went with the acorn squash which was pretty tasty. My husband got the short ribs which were very tender. Only outdoor seating was available, but heating lamps and a plastic roof made it comfortable. I was expecting a more intimate experience for our anniversary, but the place is huge with lines of tables so you are hearing everyone’s conversations because they are just a few feet away. And though the service was friendly enough, it was not special, nor was our special occasion unfortunately. We cancelled our second reservation here and will go into town.

Wonderful food but you better be Hungary!!! Wish they had ‘small plates’ as I don’t like throwing away food ( or taking home food that might or might not be eaten)
Wine selection wasn’t good for me, I like it sweet.
Was glad they do not let animals in.
Lovely experience
Saw the reviews online (TA and OpenTable) so I booked SSC for dinner when my friend and I were on a girl's getaway. We are not disappointed! The location is easy to walk to from any hotel on/near main street in Calistoga. And there is ample parking. Our table was comfy. The list hand crafted cocktails were fun and we loved the Girls Getaway. The burrata with the side of toasts was delicious (ask for more toast!). We also had the halibut which was fresh, moist and nicely prepared. We didn't really want a dessert, but we figured it would be amazing -- so we had the caramel pot de creme and raved about every bite! Love this place so much we booked brunch for the next day and it was also fabulous (had the avocado toast, with an egg and the bacon which was 1/4" thick!). Service was attentive and great -- we had Alex for dinner and he was wonderful.

I loved having access to Sam's right here at Indian Springs. The menus are not forbiddingly fancy but definitely have a local, high quality, nourishing, farm to table flair. The cocktail list is creative and yummy and the wine list is long. The staff were friendly and kind even when they were slammed. The burrata salad with roasted beets is out of this world. The back patio was beautiful at night- glimpse of twilight sky. low lights reflected off clear plastic sheeting placed very high up to protect from the elements, lights on the beautiful natural high ish rock walls and hillside, heaters, nice music. It is a great place to be when it is quiet, but it is worth being there even when it is busy. The plastic"celing" anchored all the way down to the rocks relieved one of my only objections to the place- littles can't climb on the high rocks and scare me for their safety so easily. We ate there two nights in a row and I would gladly go back several more times. My only complaint- broccoli, kale, and Brussels sprouts are not my friends at all so I wish they didn't feature so prominently on so many of the meals I wanted. I am not on board with parsnips either but that is just a matter of taste. Also the polenta and savory grits seemed quite similar- just prepared with different ingredients. Since they are both corn... make your own conclusions. :-) Both tasted fine.

Every time I’ve stayed at the connecting resort, we eat here. Food is excellent. Service is top notch!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Thanksgiving Dinner
My mom and I had Thanksgiving at Sam's Social Club. It was amazing. They were very accommodating since there was an issue with our reservation and they sat us quickly. The family style suited us well, we ordered and shared the Turkey and Porchetta for our mains. While they were both moist and tender the Porchetta one the day :-) The sides were great too and since it was served family style we could help ourselves, not over eat and had leftovers for the next day! Everything was cooked perfectly, arrived warm and seasoned very well. The service was very friendly, the outdoor seating comfortable and festive. All in all one of the best TDay dinners I have had and the best part, no dishes. Will be back.

The waiter was really rushed (probably not his fault). Cold scallop appetizer arrived before our cocktail. Atmosphere loud with lots of kids. Entrees very good, but by then we were kind of turned off.
Be the first to ReplyNice Outdoor Seating, Average Breakfast
We were told to try Sam's and especially for the churros. A bit of a mist the morning we ate so first choice was inside but despite inside being half full we were told there was no room inside. Not the most pleasant hostess. Took a good 10 minutes for our waiter to come over so perhaps the overall issue is lack of staff. Once he came, good overall service. Churros were pretty good but I wouldn't make a special trip for them. Breakfast was average, nothing outstanding and a bit on the expensive side. Likely a one time visit.
