My most favorite coffee in NYC! I have tried a ton of them.
This place has an incredible vibe and the service is spot on. I feel like I've been transported to a cafƩ in Italy. Their latte is fantastic!

Incredibly mediocre food for ridiculous prices.
Definitely would not recommend for breakfast. My kid got a prosciutto and Swiss sandwich on a roll the size of a Hawaiian roll which was good, but was $13. I got scrambled eggs (so runny it was almost gross and completely untouched by any kind of seasoning), bacon (pretty disgusting, barely tasted like bacon and was clearly sitting there already cooked), potatoes were greasy and not seasoned, and toast (the only thing that was pretty good) .... for $26. The service is almost laughably bad. The guy never came back to ask if everything was ok and I had to ask a busser for salt and pepper for the eggs. The pastries were just ok. Ambiance is cute but definitely not worth these prices. Been sitting here finished with no plates on the table for 10 minutes and just had to go to the hostess to ask for the check because the server is nowhere to be found. Definitely would not recommend.
Very rude waitress. See other reviews for claims of racism. Easily the worst place Iāve had food in New York. Do not go here!!
Excellent service, as always. The Bolognese was good, the special pappardelle was decent but would probably not order it again. Berry tart was very good.

In my entire life have I ever felt offended and discriminated by a hostess. Until now. We wanted to have coffee and pastries. The waitress told us she was going to clear a table in the front of the cafƩ. Then she seated us outside because according to her she could no longer seat us at the table upfront. According to her the server was not going to be able to serve us there. Much to our surprise we noticed that she seated a few people who came AFTER us (with the same number of persons as we were) where she said she was going to seat us at first. What a disappointment for what was supposed to be a nice afternoon experience. Will not ever return to this place!

Cookies are incredible.
Try any of them for a wonderful treat. The coffee was incredible. The service - well it didn't match the cookies and coffee.

Pretentious little coffee spot with little extra to offer.
... came in with a friend for a nice afternoon break... staff had an attitude from the start... annoyed with 2 orders on the same card, gave me an eat-in coffee in a paper cup (while giving my colleague a nice ceramic cup and saucer), and the place is tiny with little separation from other patrons. Nothing special.

How does a bistro get better? Keep doing the little things and adding to what works - which is the magic of SA! Look at this mouthwatering BLT panini below with a beautiful side salad of colorful lettuces. Dressing was perfectly light too. Want some bread to start? You'll get a delicious multigrain with a spicy olive oil dip ( yes you don't need to ask for it). Want plant based? SA has three options on the menu which is new since my last visit. Service was pleasant and quick and again we sat outside in cozy private booths. Love the individual heaters and blankets. My only fault is they did not inform my daughter of the change for ordering still water ( I was inside washing my hands). Overall, love this gem in SoHo. Enjoy!

I have come to this restaurant for 9 years.
The service was poor ! I had to ask for menu etc. then I ordered a glass of wine . No one asked if I liked they brought my pasta no Parmesan had to ask three times for salt. As I was eating my dinner the staff carried on inappropriate conversations talking across the bar ! So disappointed as this has been my staple as a frequent guest of Carlyle .... Unacceptable

Love the service when it's not busy, I go here almost every morning for coffee since I work on Madison, it's convenient for my location. The food is regular not mediocre, it's okay if you're trying to have a cute breakfast or a quick meal that has aesthetic. The taste is basic and so is the selection. It's nothing fancy as the setting is, but the pastries are great & filled with so much sugar so if that's your thing, skip to the pastry counter. It's a 7/10 for me because the price is high for things that come out of packaging, but I'll still a go to neighborhood spot for all the locals and a must try pastry wise for the vacationers.

Mrs. Paoli (RIP) has a son who is rude to customers sometimes but besides that the service is great and the food is great. Consistently good overall.

Service was great and the food was delicious.
We had bagel and lox for brunch and an omelette. It was all very fresh. I have recommended this restaurant to friends and they loved it. A bit pricy though.

Great, straightforward meal.
Was surprised by how much I enjoyed the bolognese--it felt homemade in the best way. Dining room was gorgeous as well.

Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and exceptional service
Very charming atmosphere inside and out. We had wine and prosecco and it was very smooth and refreshing. Pasta was to die for. Everything from the menu was delicious. The bread they served was warm and crunchy paired up with sweet and tangy balsamic sauce and robust olive oil. Yum! Don't leave without having desert! From hazelnut and tiramisu to Italian biscotti, everything was delicious. Our server Luna was amazing! Very professional and fun. She made phenomenal drinks. She was great. On top of that, the management was super sweet. This spot is a must if u want a romantic atmosphere, fantastic service and delicious food.
Wonderful menu, the selection of food we had, service, recommendations, the wait staff, kitchen staff, atmosphere, all superb. It brought us home to Italy where we lived for almost 4 years. On our way home to Virginia my wife and I stopped in NYC to have lunch with a good friend who lives there. He had us come to Sant Ambroeus on Madison Ave. What a delight. Thank You Sant Ambroeus on Madison Ave for a delightful, Delicious, memorable, time. We'll be back.

I had a terrible time experience.

I work in the area. I walked in for lunch and was told that I would be seated shortly. Two White ladies walked in after me and were seated before me. I had to remind the host that I had been waiting. They led me to my seat and provided no menu for 10min. Two White ladies seated after me were provided menus first and their order was taken first, minutes after they sat down. I was left at the table with no service. I finally got up and left. I think they are racist.

Fine dining for sure.
If you're a group of 4 or less then it'll be the perfect spot for a dinner and some wine. I visited Sant Ambroeus for the dessert & drinks and I was very content. The service was incredible, the house Prosecco was to die for and the dessert tray had such a delicious variety! Going back asap
