Good find.
A great restaurant. Food and service were excellent. The mussels were gorgeous and a really generous portion. The pizza was light and cooked well.

Good news: this place is open on Mondays when lots of places are shut. It was well staffed on a quiet night. But it’s not cheap, and my main course was really not good at all. For the money I expect something well cooked and interesting. Bad news: it’s not consistent. Not good enough

Had a reservation for Valentine's Day but they cancelled last minute, leaving me stranded with no alternatives. Extremely disappointed with their lack of professionalism. Will not recommend. ⭐️

So something has changed here and it hasn’t hit the web reviews nor the restaurants main website. First off, the front desk and waitering staff were lovely and attentive. As others mention the Buffalo Mozzarella, normally a staple winner, wasn't anything amazing. The Polpo grigliato con fagioli cannellini grilled octopus, cannellini beans, watercress, smoked ricotta, the three small pieces of grilled octopus had some favour. Tagliolini all'astice e limone di Amalfi Scottish lobster tagliolini, Amalfi lemon chilli basil, the lobster is totally overpowered by the chilly. Similar notes for the Spaghetti alla chitarra e Rosso di Mazara fresh spaghetti, mazara prawns and bottarga, the pawns fridge cold and diced, with the pasta the texture of pot noddles. After seeing the restaurant on a Stanley Tucci show I had very high hopes for the food here but sadly I believe things have changed. Stars for atmosphere, staff and negroni.

Pleasant venue and surroundings. Our food was disappointing, grilled octopus overcooked and veal escalope dry and piled up - fortunately the wine we had chosen was delicious.

My husband and I came for an early dinner in January. The restaurant was very quiet and offered a special £45 January menu. We decided to go a la carte and received free bottle of champagne for spending over £100 (another January offer). Service at first was a bit patchy, especially when explaining various offers and menus. Once the food started coming, they looked after us very well. Me had the famous grilled octopus and scallops with nduja for starters, followed by lobster tagliolini for mains. The food was very consistent and relatively light, which we enjoyed. What sets this place apart, is immaculate decor and beautiful picture windows. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would recommend it to other foodies.

Found this place via Stanley Tucci. Great atmosphere, service, food, and drinks. Our favorite part of the meal was the Tiramisu!

Absolutely a waste of money Hardly any thing on the menu I wanted. Chairs where dirty waiters a waste of time don’t waste your money

Good food, good service in the heart of London. Great atmosphere and ambiance, excellent Italian food, full of flavours and tasty.
Be the first to ReplyAn Inconvenienced Truth
My friend and I were looking forward to eating here after having had it recommended several times. My friend and I made a reservation for Sartoria at 9pm on a Friday, which was the only time that fit our schedules. Having arrived on time and looking to be seated at our table, the wonderful server decided to keep us as the bar as opposed to seating us. It was fine initially, but when asked about the table we were told it was ready but better for us to sit at the empty bar the two of us. We didn’t mind initially, until we were told several times that the chef was being “difficult” this evening. We were asked to pick our meal choices at the bar so that we could receive quicker service, but the entire time it was clear we were not wanted at the restaurant. The staff continuities to be “lovely” but several more requests of “would you like anything else? The chef is trying to go home.” Which we said no and happily said they can go home, and we apologized profusely for seemingly inconveniencing the staff and the chef. The food was very good, and the atmosphere was intimate, and our servers were lovely but their persistence in getting us out of the restaurant due to the chef wanting to go home really dampened the entire experience. The food was very good as I said, but combined with the price and getting the sense we were inconveniencing the entire restaurant by having a meal, I cannot say I had a positive experience here. There are better options in London for food, atmosphere, and experience.

I have been twice in this high quality Italian restaurant. Carbonara pasta is very delicate but Tortelli with nduja are really a special dish. as a starter I enjoyed Vitello tonnato while for dessert Zabaglione with Marsala is a must to have. Service impeccable and top quality.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
This was such a disappointing anniversary meal. Service from the beginning was slow to the point of non-existent. We eventually got menus but then had to try and get staff attention for a drinks menu and then again for the wine list. Food was finally ordered but the mains came before the starter plates had been removed. The food was average at best. I had the pasta and my husband had the beef. Pudding was okay but not special and service remained poor. The sommelier knew we were unhappy when he asked how our meal had been when we paid and we said 'it was okay’ to which he replied that he'd been run off his feet all evening. No apology. Strangely the chef did contact me on Instagram after I made a comment about the poor dinner but despite having my details, he has not been in touch. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Things aren't always perfect, that's life, but it's the sign of a well run establishment when any issues are dealt with swiftly, professionally & courteously & such was our experience last night. Our table allocation was ultimately sorted out successfully, with grace & no fuss made. The staff here are, without exception, friendly & efficient, nothing is too much trouble for them. An issue with my partner's fish dish was apologized for & quickly rectified . The meal was superb from start to finish, in fact some of the best if not THE best food eaten outside of Italy itself. The tortelli di buratta e nduja & the venison ragu fettucine deserve special mention, quite simply wonderful flavors & perfectly executed dishes. Thanks also to our knowledgeable sommelier who advised & guided us on the wine choice with none of the pressure, so frequent in high end restaurants, to sell the more expensive bottles ! All in all a delightful evening in comfortable, elegant surroundings. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough & look forward to returning. Maybe life is perfect after all.

Don't be fooled by Stanley Tucci's experience on the BBC program 'Searching for Italy'. Sartoria obviously rolled out the red carpet for him. As you'd expect.. obviously!! Unlike Stanley's, my black cod was the size of a fish finger. And actually this place is nothing to write home about. Also my experience was that the restaurant staff couldn't wait to get you out!! Btw... Don't ask for a birthday experience. As this is what you'll get!! I suppose I could have licked the tile/plate.

We were so excited to visit this restaurant, however, that soon diminished. Our table was terrible, we were placed on a very small sofa along with another couple. I felt sorry for them as they were mid main course when we had to squeeze past to be seated. We may as well have gone to dine with them we were that close. Not really the setting we would have liked, even more disappointing as the restaurant was more than half empty and everyone was on top of each other. We must have been asked half a dozen times for our food order, but all we wanted was a drink, it took a very long time to get our drinks. Positive point; the drinks were fabulous. However, the price on the menu and the price of these on our bill didn’t marry up, the bill was more expensive, management should look at this and have them aligned. Now, my biggest problem and also the issue with a lot of other diners was the “chefs menu” don’t be fooled by this. Unless you state at the time of booking you can’t have this. But I cannot see anything on the website or Insta page that backs this up. How awful that management have a member of staff to deliver this news. Absolute scam. I really wish I’d walked out at this point. However, as stated earlier we wanted to see and taste the food which had drawn us in from their social media posts. For starters we had burrata and scallops, 10/10 on these, absolutely delicious. Main course we had lamb and cod, I really wanted the salmon but that wasn’t available to me. Sadly both these main courses were disappointing, the lamb was exceptionally fatty, and the cod was a feeble tail piece in two parts. Ordinarily we would have had a few drinks, we only had two each as the service was so slow. On a very positive point, every member of staff was delightful. What a wonderful team you have. I think you should rethink advising something which isn’t available as it was very awkward for you lovely team members to deliver to your paying customers. The man on the table next to us (I know this as they were practically on top of us) was furious about being told he couldn’t have dishes on the chefs menu as he hadn’t stated he wanted this at the time of booking. The ladies toilets need attention, it was freezing in there and toilet seats not attached, very poor maintenance. There is a service charge on your bill, and a cover charge for each drink they bring you. How ridiculous to have a cover charge. £215 for two drinks and two courses each, we left not even full, needless to say we won’t be returning.

Last week on Saturday we visited the restaurant after it being recommended by a family friend. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a lovely waitress who made sure we received the best care during our visit. After the lovely started we had, I had a cheese risotto as a main. I want to give a special compliment to the chef for this master piece. As someone who loves and is very familiar with the Italian cuisine, this risotto specifically stood out with it being original with a modern touch. Highly recommend anyone visiting to try this dish as it was absolutely delicious. To add on the lovely food, we had an extraordinary gastronomic experience. The lovely waitress recommended some wines with our foods which made the experience whole and above that the extremely kind and friendly manner as which we were treated was outstanding. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a night out with amazing food and excellent customer service.

Food was good, but portions were tiny and expensive. Terrible service on top of it. The waiter hardly came back to the table. They charge a min 25 pounds for the kids meal which includes some veggies and a dessert but was basically noodles with tomato sauce.

Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere. We were new to London and enjoyed a wonderful meal in fantastic surroundings. Would definitely return
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, poor and rushed service
The food was excellent. My wife and I both had the scallops for a starter. I had turbot for a main and she had cod. All were perfectly cooked to a very high standard. But the service was, in my opinion, comically bad. We came into a virtually empty restaurant and were placed directly alongside a solitary female diner. When we hesitated, we were reassured, in the woman’s hearing, that she was about to leave. We ordered a cocktail, then our food and a wine to accompany the food. The wine arrived before the cocktail and had to be taken away when the cocktail arrived. The cocktail only arrived after it had been taken to the wrong table. Our starter then arrived while we had only just begun our cocktail. A little later, I was asked if I had finished my starter when it was perfectly obvious that I had not. So it went on. Our wine was returned to us while we were enjoying our main. When we had finished our first glass, the sommelier asked if we would like another glass of wine. We had to remind him that we had ordered and started a bottle. He had apparently forgotten. Everything in terms of service was frenetic, rushed and confused. To complete our experience, which lasted less than an hour and a half, the waitress who took our payment typed in the wrong amount and had to delete the initial payment and start again. Dining should surely involve good food and a good experience. The food was certainly very good. The experience was good only in the sense that it was so comically bad.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food, not giving 5 due to some small service hickups
Was here with a friend last week. We had different starters and main courses and same desserts. All five courses almost deserves a five point review, but we felt the communication between the staff was not really were it should be. As an example we were served the main course before the sommelier came to ask for what wine we wanted for this. But overall very good, and the food was certainly not overpriced compared to quality.

I had late lunch with my partner on a Saturday afternoon, we arrived at the restaurant at 2.00pm, the restaurant was almost empty but that didn't bother us. The food as excellent, my partner declared it the best meal she's ever eaten, both starters and mains were seasoned really well and the pudding were a perfect end to lunch. Great wine list, something for everyone pocket which can be hard to find in Mayfair restaurants. Service was a little slow, mainly down to the change over of staff from lunch time to evening staff, we weren't in a rush so happy to wait and enjoy the wine. We're looking forward to returning again.

Sartoria is a smart and comfortable dining room just off Piccadilly. It's more sofas and setting than hard-backed chairs fronting starchy tables so the atmisphere is slightly relaxing but nonetheless very smart. There is also a roadside terrace for ozoners and smokers alike. The food is up-market Italian with fresh and tasty ingredients and an excellent (if slightly pricey) wine list. I plumped for a Lombardino wine, unusual outside Milan but a personal favourite. Food, as always, delicious and the service very correct. Altogether a real recommendation.
