Don't Bother!!!
Expected this restaurant to be better. Food was mediocre, at best. Table, dishes and glasses were very dirty. Host said filth on glasses were water spots. Glasses had abundant water spots but were also filthy. Also, no excuse for that many water spots, a responsible restaurant wipes them off. Appetizer plates were extremely greasy, you could write your name with your finger. Host brought new ones, and we wiped those down with lemon as well as the utensils. We drank bottled water straight from bottle, rather than use their glasses. The panoramic windows were beyond dirty. They looked as if in certain spots someone had thrown a vanilla milkshake and then rubbed it in a circular pattern. Vase of dead flowers with old smelly water was placed on every table. We wanted to try the "hyped up food" and we were extremely disappointed.Host was rude when he said to us " oh wow! you scarfed that down!" My husband and I eat slowly and we shared two appetizers and an entree, as entree menu was extremely limited and nothing sparked our interest. Even if we had "scarfed," it is rude and intentionally obnoxious to announce it loudly for other diners to be alerted. Also heard the manager boasting to another guest that their pizza was the best in the country if not the world. That is a big claim! We have travelled the world extensively and can attest that their food is lacking in flavor and presentation. The manager acted as a swollen headed, uneducated, unworldly classless rube. We will not be returning and advise you find a different italian restaurant when visiting Montauk, if that is your preference
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Evening
We went to Scarpetta on a Saturday evening to celebrate the birthdays of two friends. The restaurant was pleasantly bustling, somewhat unusual for a November weekend in the Hamptons. The service was friendly, prompt, and efficient without being intrusive. We shared four appetizers (all great) with special mention of the roasted cauliflower. Each of us had our own entree (red snapper, duck, and lobster pasta), all excellent. The person who had the lobster pasta said it was the best heโd eaten. We also shared several desserts, to which the staff added candles and wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate sauce on the plates. We were all very impressed with the evening, and while on the expensive side, felt weโd gotten value for the price. Definitely returning.

The food was Delicious. Every bite was well balanced and perfect. So many textures and flavors. We had the lobster pasta and the scallops. Chocolate cake and espresso mousse for dessert. The ambience was Beautiful too.

We had dinner and breakfast here while staying on property. Service was very good, food was fantastic. Enjoyed sushi and grilled octopus appetizers, and ahi tuna and halibut entrees. Very enjoyable. The breakfast buffet was incredible, lots of choices including an omelette station.

We were lucky to get into this packed restaurant with friends and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, from scallops, to caccio y pepe, everything was done just right. Would definitely return!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting, and great food.
Good food, lovely ambiance. Make sure you go early enough if you still want to see the beach and sit outside in the terrace. If too cold, you can still sit indoors or, do like us, since we had our dog, sit at the bar (I love sitting at the bar) itโs a lovely bar too! The polenta appetizer is delicious and so is the halibut entree. The caccio e peppe pasta too, worth a try. The staff was sweet and attentive. Everyone was very accommodating. Loved it!

We love coming to Scarpetta for dinner because we know Wally will make sure everything is perfect! He makes sure the service is the best and goes above and beyond for everyone. The food is top notch - one of our favorite places to eat in the Hamptons.
Be the first to ReplyMontauk Magic
My birthday dinner at Scarpetta/Gurney's was magical, we are Montauk locals and enjoy going there during the off-season. But there was nothing off about the food and service! Our waiter had the loveliest disposition (I wish I could remember his name!) the food was excellent, generous portions, the atmosphere was cozy, the lighting was pitch-perfect, as was the chill/jazzy music. Ginny came over to wish me a happy birthday, and then we watched as she went over to chat with all of the other diners in the room making everyone feel special, what a pro!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience
You would think at the end of December when the hotel is empty the restaurant will driver better than usual experience but not the case here. Food is actually very good but the service was a joke. Usually I can ignore the bad service when food is good but not at this price point!

Food was good but the portion size was absurd. The main courses were anemic. Went home starving. Never again
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food and beautiful view if sitting outdoors
I have this restaurant a 3 star because I felt a bit of racism. When we got there, I asked if we could be seated outside and the women who seated us said they did not have any available. You could clearly see they were plenty of outdoor seating and outdoor seating isnโt reserved. We were at the restaurant for about 3 hours and the table that I asked for us to sit at outside was still vacant. It was a table for 6 and we were a party of 6. So I really donโt see why we couldnโt have been seated there to begin with. Besides this little issue, the food is amazing and if youโre sitting outdoors you will enjoy the view. Our waiter was very good!!
Be the first to ReplyFabulous visit.
Fabulous visit. We were a party of 10, 2 families, 4 adults and 6 children which is certainly not common place for this type of restaurant on a Friday night at 8 pm. I unfortunately am accustomed to an attitude from staff when arriving with so many children in tow however I feel that as long as my children are as respectful and as well behaved as adults (and I am paying) they can go anywhere I choose, so there ๐. Scarpettas however was wonderful with our group. We were given a beautiful table outside to see the sunset, not shoved in a corner somewhere. Our server was super friendly and promptly told us the dishes available specifically for the kids. The service was on point the entire evening and everything was delicious. The ambiance was lively and fun and the crowd of course gorgeous. I would highly recommend.

We ate outside on the deck on a beautiful summer evening. The setting, the food, and the atmoshere could not have been better. We loved our meals and look forward to coming back.
Be the first to ReplyDepends on what you order
We don't eat all that much these days but enjoy fine dining. For an appetizer we shared ravioli stuffed with cheese and pepper in a browned butter sauce with caramelized fennel. The pasta was properly al dente with a peppery filling and the sauce with the leeks was so rich your taste buds sung. Weird was the salami and cheese bread that was served with other breads. For a main course I ordered Moscovi duck with artichokes, fava beans, pearl onions and radish. The duck was nicely cooked but a smidge tough and did not excite my taste buds. The veggies were nicely cooked. The dish was ordinary, not requiring much creativity by the chef. My partner ordered cavatelli with clams, shrimp, garlic in a cream sauce. Now this was a dish the chef could be proud of. There were just enough hot pepper flakes in the sauce that it woke your mouth up. The clams were fresh, the shrimp tasted like lobster, and the whole dish tasted of the sea. Just delightful! The dessert devil made us order something for the last course. We shared espresso mousse with a hazelnut bed and hazelnut gelato with a little cookie. My partner managed to leave almost nothing in the curved dish but I had a flat plate and felt embarrassed if I licked the plate. Ordinary cappuccino finished the meal. Service was excellent with the table kept clean and a charming waiter. Prices were very high but without cocktails or wine and sharing 2 dishes the price was reasonable and we left satisfied.
Be the first to ReplyLower your expectation. Great familiar name but not the same as in the city.
Great name, great menu. But nothing compare to it's sister restaurant in the city. The staff are all hard working. Don't blame them. It simply looks like the management doesn't bother for any quality, because in this market they are making money and that is all they care. Hamptons are sold out solid. Everything is booked. The name of the restaurant is familiar and it serves itself. No need to fight for a customer. The food is bland. Tastless. Fells like they cater to the old retirees crowd, who cannot eat any food with spice and flavor. Prices are the same as in the city. But that is all. They are shamelessly riding the convenience - once you stay in Gurney Inn - you won't go to Montauk beer place for dinner. They know it and they use it. Big eye opening.
Be the first to ReplyPortion-Challenged Excellent Food Served in a Beautiful Setting
For "foodies" that solely judge the quality of a restaurant by the taste and presentation of each dish, Scarpetta is a must visit. However, when you pay premium pricing, some foodies expect to be satisfied in all areas of the dining experience, and for us, Scarpetta falls somewhat short, as the small portion sizes left us hungry despite ordering collectively six dishes between two people. Aside from that issue, a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean and the dimly lit restaurant creates an exceptionally romantic dining experience one should strongly consider for a special occasion meal.

Went for dinner while staying at Gurney s.
Seated at a nice corner table
Limited menu choices but impeccable service. Enjoyed appetizers-scallops and mushrooms. Main courses(halibut and cavatelli) were excellent. A fine dining experience although pricey
Awesome Winter dinner
Nice greeting, great corner seat. Perfect drinks and great waiter. Freshest crudos ever with amazing touches from the chef, great entrees - fantastic steak and fish. Best sommelier ever riffing off the menu and so natural. Great light desserts. So lucky to have such a well run beautiful place in montauk with all the restaurants that struggle here.

Waiter was impersonal and rushed. Everything was very expensive and food not worth it. Two pasta dishes were disappointing and cleared with only a couple of bites from each.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced & Overrated
Waitstaff was not friendly at all. Asked if he could check on a basic substitution and he said, I don't think they will do that. I said would you mind asking and he said I know what he will say. Not, let me check or anything like that. The food was of small portions and outrageously expensive for the quality, or lack thereof. My scallops were VERY oversalted and full of sand. Wines were poor quality and again, outrageously expensive and I am not someone who minds spending the money for good quality food, but this wasn't it. The only positive I can add is the location and view. Very nice outside bar area with fire pits too.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting/under-staffed
Had breakfast and dinner two nights in a row while staying at the hotel. Dinners were superb in every way including service. Breakfast service was so abismal I am compelled to review so owners can fix. Orders were not taken for 20-30 mins and required a verbal appeal for attention. Wagyu appetizer came out cold and friendโs chicken sandwich and French fries did too. No heat whatsoever. Any attention from servers required 10-20 mins of trying to catch their eye or wave. Everyone around us was doing the same. Brunch also ended way too early for a Sunday. Place is clearly severely under-staffed for breakfast, probably due to covid. Setting is so beautiful itโs really a shame.
