The Sedona Airport Scenic Lookout is an absolute gem.
The panoramic views of the red rock formations and the vast landscapes are awe-inspiring. The vantage point offers a unique perspective of Sedona's natural beauty. Whether you're a photography enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil spot, this lookout is a must-visit. It's an ideal spot to witness the beauty of Sedona unfold beneath the expansive skies. I highly recommend making time for this scenic experience during a visit to Sedona. Sunset time it will get super crowded so keep that in mind and try to reach little early to offset the traffic.
Be the first to ReplyPretty cool spot to get a great view of Sedona.
Parking at the very top of the hill is just $3 and there was a ton of parking up there. Sunset was supposed to be at 7:17PM, we arrived at 6:20PM to get good parking and claim our spot. Watching the sunset is definitely a great experience but I think this location would be much better watching the sunrise early in the morning.

hit this on the head... "Looking for a super easy way to get a gorgeous view of the Sedona landscape without hiking? Well here is your spot!"You drive up the mountain, park and the top for a few bucks, and then sit and enjoy the view. I'd suggest coming at sunset for some great colors. Expect a crowd.

This was our last stop in the tour and it was very beautiful. Although it was super windy and a hat would of been helpful I would strongly recommend. I never knew this place existed and it was definitely stunning.

While the views are nice from here, you can see the airport mesa really from anywhere in Sedona. You have to pay a $3 parking fee to access this lookout and I didn't think it was worth $3 paying....but we did, because we were being tourists but totally not necessary!

This place is located at the entrance to the Sedona Airport on top of Airport Mesa. To reach it, you ascend a long straight road that climbs up the side of the mesa. At the top, you pay $3 for parking (I believe it is all-day). They have a large lot.We visited about 15 minutes before sunset. By that point, there was a line of cars waiting to get in and a huge crowd at the overlook (probably 150 people, at least). It was hard to get photos due to the crowding, but it was still possible. I would actually recommend that you arrive here at least 30 minutes before sunset and stake out a spot towards the front / fence. If the weather cooperates, you can get good photos from this spot. It has views of many of the red rock formations to the north and northeast. In my limited experience here, the lighting conditions were better on a clear evening - that seemed to produce richer reds as the sun went down. From a slightly different spot in town the following day (when there were a few clouds), the lighting was noticeably less interesting. We made a point to leave just as the sun was completely setting, so as to avoid the likely mad scramble of everyone deserting the place at that time. If you want to avoid the crowds and the $3 fee, and if you are willing to settle for a lower vantage point with somewhat more restricted views, may I suggest Posse Grounds Park instead? There is a slight bluff just behind the skate park there that offers fairly good views. No one was around other than some skaters, dog-walkers, and reggae enthusiasts in the ballfield next door. It was a much more relaxed atmosphere for taking photos, though you have less of a panoramic view.

If you're looking for a spot to check out the sunset, this is the place is the go to. It has a scenic spot over looking the mountains and beautiful Sedona town. There's a $3 fee to park, but well worth it. Don't forget to dress warm, because it was really windy and cold

Looking for a super easy way to get a gorgeous view of the Sedona landscape without hiking? Well here is your spot!!!The Sedona Airport Scenic Lookout (also known as the Airport Vista Lookout) is located along Airport Road about 1/3rd of a mile before you reach the Terminal. It has its own public parking area at a rate of $3/car per day, but chances are you would only spend about 30 minutes here maximum unless you decide to hike the connector trail to the nearby Airport Loop Trail. The overlook is directly across the road from the parking area and is equipped with two coin operated binoculars, but I seriously doubt you would need them. The view is excellent with the naked eye and easily captured with any camera. Nearby for those looking for a hike is The Airport Mesa. It also has great views (albeit not as great as the Scenic Lookout) and connects to the 3.2 mile Airport Loop Trail.Porta-potties are available in the parking area. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ]Awesome drive-up view with flat easy access for anyone to enjoy!Surprisingly a sign on the fencing seems to allow for drone operation despite the close proximity to the airport. But the SAFTEY ALERT SIGN does ask that drone operators recognize the danger for aircraft and fly responsibly and respectfully.2022 / 9
