Will not be back
One star for the yummy margarita papplemousse and old fashioned. Ordered a half dozen oysters and asked waitress to come back for our order after we finish the oysters. She returns for our order before the oysters come out. We tell her we are going to share the Ahi Tuna appetizer. I tell my husband to order 1st as I hadn’t decided. We place our orders and order a $100 bottle of wine and tell her not to rush with the wine as we were still drinking the cocktails we got wsiting for our table to be ready. She returns with the wine, clearly has trouble uncorking, walks away to the bar with our wine and not saying a word to us. Comes back, never shows us the label to make sure it’s correct and pours the wine. We ask her not to pour it as we still have cocktails, she returns with the oysters, 1was mushy and suspect. While we are eating the oysters, our entrees arrive. No ahi tuna appetizer. We send it away and the waitress comes over and says we never ordered the app. and then says she never heard us. Her manner was defensive and off putting. We ended up leaving with our $100 bottle of wine. The manager tookour drinks off the

Montauk summer 2022…. Requested outside table, unable to accommodate since short staffed….. 1 waitress for entire restaurant… Out of most dishes at 8 pm. Only one overpriced bottle white wine on entire menu ( muscadet) Charged for bread served with butter pats. Paper napkins. Lovely hard working server kept apologizing For us disappointing at this price, can do better in Montauk at many places.

Go for drinks and ambiance. Very slow cocktail service at tables. Food average not quite French or great. Servers lovely but can’t perform miracles. Kitchen slow. Desserts great. Needs work. $$$$$$
Be the first to ReplyPassive aggressive service but good food and great drinks
The food was good. It was not great, but more than ok. The drinks were splendid. However the service could’ve been better. Our waitress wasn’t rude, but she was passive aggressive and you could tell that she didn’t like out of towners. She was very friendly with what looked like regulars but barley gave us a smile or checked in on our table. That’s honestly the only reason why I give Sel Rrose 3/5 stars and not 5/5.

ery nice place-Excellent food, cocktails and the coolest people.
The most beautiful interior with the loveliest of touches.
This is Kristin Vincent's Hamptons addition to her line of chic restaurants.
Chef Shawn Hewitt is always coming up with new dishes to delight the palate--never a dull moment.
The customers and the servers are a great combination of beautiful people.
Good place, but have to think twice about coming back.
In typical Hamptons style we showed up without a reservation. Told it would be an hour wait. But was offered two seats at the bar. No problem. But when we sat we saw an entire outdoor seating area that was basically empty. We asked if this was part of the restaurant and was told yes. Then we asked if there’s any reason we can’t sit out there, and was told of course we can. So what’s up with the hostess?
Out waitress was great and the food was good as well. Only issue is that the portions are small and for $200 for 2 I should walk out full. Thanks goodness John’s Drive Inn is across the street for ice cream,.
Delightful evening spent here
Sel Rose is a hidden gem in Montauk. The doorway is whimsical and inviting and the massive bar is beautifully and aesthetically pleasing as you walk in. Do make a reservation as the place is busy and not a huge dining space.
Décor is well done and interesting design (see pictures) Service was pleasant and friendly and our hostess knew we were from out of town and made an extra effort to be nice. The drinks were well made and nicely done and very different to the normal, we tried the Hunter and on the dock cocktails. At $16 for specialty cocktails, I think the drink size could have been a bit bigger. The food was very good, flavorful and some thought put into the flavor combinations. Ingredients were very fresh. We had the Lobster bisque which was sublime, Linguine and Clams and Catch of the day, finishing off with a delicious crème Brule. Everything was delicious and well presented and our only complaint was that dinner portions were on the small side and we did leave hungry which I do not think any host wants to hear. Especially since things were so tasty we would have enjoyed more of it. Prices are reasonable by Montauk standards. In the spring this was one of the few places open. The service was warm and friendly and we would return again
Ambience was beautiful
First time for me since all other places were booked or not open on a Monday. My mom got the brined chicken and I got their special, the swordfish. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. Service was excellent. We went on an off time and night, so it was not crowded. If I had to say one bad thing, it would be the $17 glass of wine...REALLY. It was only 1/4 filled. With tip, 2 shrimp apps and 2 dinners, it came to $150. But I guess thats the rate in Montauk. I'd go back. I recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyRuined Wedding Event
A really upsetting experience here. I booked an event, via a contract, back in April for my wedding weekend. I explained I was going to have around 20-25 people and wanted a private area to do welcome drinks. I booked an event from 9pm-12am in their lounge. I have attached a copy of our contract. I had been calling all week the few days leading up to the event leading up, but couldn't get anyone on the phone. I stopped by the day of the event, at 4pm, to ensure everything was set up and ready. None of the staff there knew what I was talking about and gave me the number for Karen, their events manager. I called her and she assured me everything was good to go. My guests began arriving at 9pm, and there was not a single open space in the restaurant, and clearly nothing set up for a party. In speaking to the manager, Karen, she explained they had to move their outside reservations indoors due to the weather. You would think, an event contract would be honored first and those dinner reservations cancelled. No. But not only that, it was the manner in which she handled the situation. She was so unbelievably rude and short with me, it left me in tears, on my wedding weekend. When I explained I was very upset and had my entire bridal party waiting to be seated, she looked at me, threw her hands up, and asked "well, what would you have me do!?" Our party eventually got set up in a makeshift area, 30 minutes late. They never apologized, never offered any sort of food or drinks as an apology, wouldn't even lower my minimum. If you have something special, find a more reliable place. Or at least a spot where the manager will treat you with one ounce of kindness and respect.

Pros
Trendy atmosphere
Friendly staff.
Waitress Bam did all she could to make us happy
Cons
Party of 4, 3 of us knew we wanted the Short Ribs dinner. Unfortunately for us, after a round of drinks and time to order, we were advised NO Short Ribs available. Menus should have reflected this.
Website should reflect higher meal prices
Linguine had no flavor (in chicken dish and in clam dish)
Strip steak special was mediocre and not worth $45
Cream Brule dessert watery.
(In a nice way) We let our waitress know each step along the way how disappointed we were with each "con" noted above. She reported each to the head of the house and kitchen. The "house" did the right thing and offered new meals etc., did not charge for any desserts we ordered & bought us a round of drinks. They also brought out a better, more solidified cream Brule dessert.
So kudos to he management in trying to make our experience better.
Will we go back? Probably not.
Beautiful clean restaurant with delicious food!
This place was stunning to look at. The food was delicious and our waiter was one of the best we have encountered (blonde hair, sorry I can't remember his name). We will be visiting again!

We spent a cloudy afternoon-not a beach day- at Sel Rrose. We sat outside in the beautiful patio and dipped on frose, with oysters and truffle fries. It’s a new spot that gets very crowded at night.
