Small but perfectly formed!
Small but perfectly formed farm to table restaurant Red Bank. The pork chop on the mains is incredible. And service impeccable. It gets busy at the weekend and we had to wait to be seated. But this is par for the course when the food and vibe is so good. You can do BYO which works well. Great choice for friends, family or just a nice dinner for 2. Recommended.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food, local farms, prepared beautifully and served by pro/pleasant staff. Small space, BYOB, get reservations!
Arrive on time w full party to be seatedโฆdictated by small space. Staff is professional, courteous and informed (ask about the menu and theyโll know). The farm to table menu is genuineโฆthey list the local farms and providers. Staff can give you every provider, preparation and hint. Be sure to BYOB, especially for the super pork chop (one of the only regular menu items). Beef cheek special and porcini pappardelle were also delicious. Of course the apps were equally great. Never felt rushed and had a very enjoyable evening. Put Semolina on your restaurant bucket list!!!

Dinner was delicious but after an hour and a half we were told to leave. Didnโt get to finish my glass of wine - they were cleaning up the table. Will never go back!
Be the first to ReplyHorrific Treatment- Avoid Semolina
Reservation was for 4 people. One member was running late due to a dr appt in NYC. She texted us her order as to not hold up the dinner, since we had a show to make in Red Bank. Manager would not seat us unless all 4 members were there, we explained we had a show to make and we were planning on ordering for all 4 people. Manager said no, so we said we are now 3 and to please seat us (4 top table). When our friend arrived 30 minutes later, her appetizer was on the table waiting for her but was told, โyou were late, so you can not eat!!โ They proceeded to refuse her a setting, napkin etc and acted as if she were not part of the table. Being a restaurant owner and also all 4 of us in the service industry, we were shocked and horrified by what we were experiencing. It ruined the celebratory night and regardless if the food was good or not, you NEVER treat a paying customer as they did. Rules are one thing, common sense and decency is another. Avoid this restaurant, many other in Red Bank just as good!
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute gem
An unpretentious cozy farm to table restaurant with fabulous food.. I would unequivocally say this restaurant easily among the best in the area and is a true gem. We ordered a variety of dishes and one was better than the next. We started by ordering 2 different pastas, the duck egg carbonara and fettuccini with mushrooms and balsamic (they let us order a half order of each) and the brussel sprout Caesar salad followed by the pork chop, short ribs, and 2 more pasta dishes, the beet agnolotti and parsley linguine with clams. We finished with caramel budino (raves) and Meyer lemon torta. Do not miss this dining experience!

Wondering why our awful awful dining experience of just last week was not posted. The owner and all staff should find other careers. Rude rude and cold pasta. Post this asap.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the expense.
The arugula salad seemed like it was thrown on the plate. The arugula was piled onto the plate with a strong vinaigrette dressing. The pesto pasta was tasteless. I had to request additional cheese and it was still was inedible. Our server was excellent. I donโt mind paying high end prices for good food. I do mind paying high end prices for bad food.

Another amazing dinner at Semolina. The good thing about them is that the menu consist of fresh, seasonal ingredients. The bad is that it's very possible you won't be getting that particular dish you loved on your next visit. I bring this up due to the most incredible agnolotti dish I had on this last visit. They were ethereal pillows of goodness unlike any I've ever had. Still dreaming about them. The rest of our meal was excellent and we couldn't have asked for a better server. Simply put-Semolina is a solid restaurant that delivers innovative cuisine on a consistent basis.
Be the first to ReplyFood and service is awesome - you must have a reservation
Our server was out of this world - she was helpful, friendly, courteous and efficient. The food is always perfect and this night was no exception. I had the signature dish - the Pork Chop. Portions are generous. It's a BYO. Don't turn up without a reservation; it's popular and busy.
Be the first to ReplyStill solid
Hadn't been back to Semolina in quite a while, "thanks COVID". Food is still delicious and creative. Service was friendly and accommodating. They remain dining gold in Red Bank.
Be the first to ReplyFarm to Table Deliciousness
Love this farm to table restaurant! The food is delicious from appetizers to dessert (try the zeppoles!). Our waitress Karen was excellentโฆ.funny and attentive. Itโs a byob so make a reservation and bring your favorite wine. One of my favorite spots in Red Bank. :)
Be the first to ReplyRude pretentious staff
The appetizers and entrees were very good. Dessert fell short. Tables too close together. Noise level unbearable. Rude staff, rushed service with an announced time limit. Our server actually threw down my entree with the cucumber water splashing on my blouse. Felt like we were treated that we should be so privileged to be dining at this very overrated restaurant. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyCustomer service created a awful dining experience
We have patronized Semolina since inception and our prior experiences have been solid. The farm to table menu always terrific. Unfortunately bad service can derail history. We have been very supportive especially during the pandemic. As seasoned diners we go out to restaurants to enjoy a nice relaxing meal. We sat down at 6:45 and ordered at 6:55 where we explicitly requested to the new server that we would appreciate 15 minutes between finishing apps and having dinner delivered to digest. We just finished our apps and to our surprise at 7:12 our dinner was delivered. We asked what happened and after requesting to see our server she had no clue. We asked can it be kept in kitchen to stay warm and was told donโt have capability. I then requested to see manager. Richard showed up and could only say Sorry and you have 90 minutes for table. I said at this pace I will be out inside 35 minutes and could dine at a fast food restaurant longer. My wife literally ate less than a quarter of her halibut because she was so full. He was condescending and dismissive. I asked to see the owners/chef and he said impossible. Wow I donโt care how good your product is with lousy service there is an issue. A simple situation could have been addressed and diffused. The server never came back to ask how meal was totally inexcusable. We had to ask a busgirl for check. The server delivered and said I assume you donโt want desert. WHAT how could we shovel more in during our 45 minute visit. She was awful and has no experience to handle conflict. It was honestly our worse dining experience ever dealing with a dismissive manager and server who never stepped up. The saddest part is we loved Semolina since they opened and have recommended and patronized with many friends and family . Unfortunately this will be our last visit which makes us sad. Hopefully this helps ownership to address the shortcomings
Be the first to ReplyDining in a pandemic
If you care to dine out during a pandemic, Semolina has nicely spaced outdoor dining and indoor dining too. The scallops served with mushrooms and butternut puree was sublime. I particularly liked the demi-glaze. While the menu selection is limited, the quality of the food is wonderful.
