One of Athens’ best…
Probably one of the best meals of my life. Had the full seven course (meat & seafood) menu with wine pairings. Each course was outstanding (IMHO) and expertly presented. The service was prompt, attentive throughout, and friendly. The wine pairings were spot on and turned into a crash course on Greek wines that included several the average diner might not think of trying. I enjoyed it so much I have already made reservations for our return to Athens in two weeks.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service
We went for dinner and had the "Gastronomic journey to Greece" menu. From the beginning it was an experience, both the place, the views, the food and the treatment. Especially George, one of the very friendly and pleasant waiters. Without a doubt a place to go to celebrate.

On the 6th floor of a hotel, 200 meters from the Acropolis museum, with an excellent view. Food good without anything exceptional, service quite good
Be the first to ReplyGorgoeos view at night
Went for drinks before dinner. The view was amazing, overlooking the Parthenon which was lit up. We wanted a little something to go with our drinks so they made up a cheese platter for us. A bit expensive but worth the price!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, service and view - a relaxed and special evening
Such an enjoyable evening! Went for the veggie 7 course tasting menu and it was a treat to have as a vegetarian. The food was excellent, some of the best veggie food I’ve ever had - my only observation would be that perhaps a couple of the portions were a little too large. The service from start to finish was superb starting with the front of house manager who gave excellent wine suggestions and made sure we were happy throughout the evening. The ladies who served us were both friendly and approachable, clearly explaining the dishes and the oil accompanying them. There was no rushing and it felt very relaxed which we appreciated. We booked for 7.30 on a Saturday evening and it was quiet, getting busier at about 8.15. The tables were well spaced and the view incredible. I would recommend this place and should we return to Athens would definitely come back. A great place to celebrate a birthday and one of the best things we did in Athens. Thanks to all at sense for a great evening!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing view, slightly chaotic service and average overpriced food
The view is excellent and the restaurant is well decorated and romantic. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It had the feel I was looking for, for my partners birthday. The food is ok. It’s Michelin recommended and I’m not sure why. We had the 7 course tasting menu. 5 courses were pleasant and 2 weren’t to our taste. Overwhelmed with acidic flavours with something like vinegar or balsamic. It wasn’t a bad meal exactly, it just isn’t worth the €95 per head price tag. At all. The wine pairing was lovely for €65 per head. All these wines complemented the food nicely. Somewhat compensating for the acidity of the fore mentioned dishes. The service was friendly. However it was very rushed and chaotic. Sometimes with your plates and cutlery being switched over whilst someone else explaining the dish. Leaning over each other. It gave a canteen feel and not the smooth sophisticated transition of a fine dining restaurant. I like a tasting menu to feel like an experience. This felt more like pre-theatre service where the intention is to get you in and out. It needed to slow down. Our bill was €319 for two people. The overall experience was pleasant. But I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it to others unless they were happy to pay for the view and an average overpriced meal.
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing experience - delicious food, impeccably presented. Perfect service and a stunning backdrop.
It was a special occasion and the backdrop for it was incredible. The vista of the Parthenon is breathtaking. The service was exceptional, discreet yet purposeful - our glasses were never empty and we didn’t notice them being filled! The tasting menu was delicious and the inclusion of a variety of olive oils with most courses was a lovely edition. Every course was a taste sensation. One course wasn’t to our taste but we know it’s impossible to please everyone all of the time. The presentation of the food was beautiful and we loved the crockery.
Be the first to ReplySuper smart venue, great views
Fabulous venue in a great location. Rooftop bar/diner offers excellent quality food as not too high a price. The views of the Acropolis are stunning. Good service. Smart decor and lighting. Small downside: the only guest toilets are way down on minus-1 level and the single elevator can take ages to come and go.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome view but bland food
Awesome views, but food was bland & overpriced. It’s almost impossible to find a ‘poor restaurant in Athens so suggest you look elsewhere…
Be the first to ReplyWe've been to much nicer restaurants in Athens which offer much better quality and value for the money
The restaurant offers a nice terrace view of the Acropole and the interior is nicely decorated and planned, but to what we understood, only hotel guests may get the tables closest to the window. The personnel even though there are many, there is no real feeling of being cared for or tended to by any of them, they come to the table a lot but taking turns, and it created a chaotic feeling for us. The personnel was the worst thing about the place. The food was tasty, in the category of fine cuisine, but nothing really wonderful especially considering the price which we considered high for Athens. Also you should not expect greek cuisine. We've been to much nicer restaurants in Athens which offer much better quality and value for the money.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant, beautiful food, beautiful view
The view of the Parthenon lit up at night is breathtaking. There were three set menus: a long one, a shorter one and a vegetarian one. I had the shorter one as it sounded like too much food for me and included the beef tartare that i was not keen to have. Was most pleased with my choice. I asked if they did a wine pairing which i did not see on the menu and they said yes was 35 Euros which seemed very reasonable to me. Each dish was elegant and interesting. Staff were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my evening. At the end I realized that i had been there for over 2.5 hours without realizing how much time had elapsed.
Be the first to ReplyThe view is stunning, but I will return for the food
The beautiful view is obvious and the warm service pleasing, but the food is what ultimately commands attention and brings the greatest joy. It is not difficult to find very good food in Athens, but after a week of one superb meal after another, the food at Sense still surprised and delighted with beautifully balanced, flavours hinting at Greece’s culinary traditions. We visited on a Sunday evening in January and opted for the largest tasting menu. Every dish delighted, but for me and my partner two stood out and will remain memorable. The first is the steak tartare. It has been said that the world is divided into those who like the dish and those who don’t. I am in the latter camp, but for Sense’s interpretation I will travel halfway around the world. The other was the apple dessert. The description on the menu did not even hint at the joy to come; it is beautiful to behold and delighted with a wonderful combination of fresh, clean apple flavours. I would recommend Sense. The view wows, the service is warm and faultless, and the food is delightful and memorable.
Be the first to ReplyPoorly made food with a high scale presentation. But the view is spectacular
I gave it a 2 and not a 1 because the staff was extremely friendly and the view is spectacular. But the food did not match the expectations. The price and the presentation was of a high scale chef restaurant. But the food was bland and even poor taste. Not to mention the fact that it’s a closed menu (only 2 options) and had no option that really suited my wife since she doesn’t like lamb and the only other option was purely vegetarian. The staff saw we are not enjoying the food and really made an effort but didn’t really have a way to change anything. We left with a very bad taste in our mouths. Too bad
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable! Not to be missed!
We attended Sense’s New Year’s Eve dinner and we were so impressed we booked twice more while visiting Athens. Guarantee this will be one of the best dining experiences you will have in your life. The creativity, tastes and overall experience are unparalleled. This is a gem! Amazing view of the Acropolis from every table makes t even more special. The staff choreography in and of itself is a sight to behold. Excellence on display coupled with a fierce dedication to perfection from the time you arrive at the top of the stairs until the time you leave. It would be worth making a short film just to show an extraordinary example of teamwork and excellence that can be applied to any business.
Be the first to ReplyBreathtaking Views, Delicious Food
SENSE lays at the top of a small boutique hotel near the Acropolis Museum and the monument itself. It is located on the 7th floor and the views on the Acropolis are of course breathtaking. Unsurprisingly for a restaurant of that standing, the food is just as amazing. My partner opted for the 5-course vegetarian menu and myself for the other 5-course meal (you can also choose a 7-course menu but it's slightly more experience). We honestly ended up very full at the end of the meal as the portions are generous without losing their great taste. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic restaurant
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and dined at Sense on 2 of them. The view is of course breathtaking overlooking the Acropolis. You could sit and dine and watch the sun set and the floodlights come on and see the whole rock and temples shift in shape and colour. The food is incredibly tasty and imaginative, some fabulous combinations. They have three menus only which some might find a bit restricting, but the quality made us happy to repeat the dishes. The serivice was friendly and helpful and the wine lost comprehensive with some very interesting good quality Greek wines.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely experience
We stayed at this hotel and had the very pleasant experience of walking up one flight of steps to sit with a beautiful view of the Acropolis eating creative, delicious food and enjoying excellent Greek wine.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular
Wanted to find a restaurant at a special location for a special occasion. After researching I decided to book a table at Sense. Spectacular views of the acropolis, outstanding quality and taste of food, warm and friendly service. What else can you ask for? Definitely recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyHuge bang for your buck - gorgeous tasting menu and views for great price
Come for the view - stay for the food. We picked this for our first night in Athens, because of the sweeping views of the Acropolis, but we were pleasantly surprised by the service and top-notch tasting menu. (We live in DC and are pretty much foodies these days... still this impressed us). They had noted we were on our honeymoon and instantly had champagne as a treat when we waited for our table. The tasting menu (even my vegetarian one) was hearty and creative -- though for a Michelin-listed spot, it was way cheaper than other places with similar menus. The space was small - a very cosmopolitan vibe. The dinner did take two hours -- welcome to Greece!
Be the first to ReplySadly indifferent
Seemingly reliant a little too much on the position/view, we left feeling indifferent which having spent 270euro (2x 11course taster menu with accompanying wine pairing) you should not… a couple of points specifically worth a mention:
Venue - View is perfect being a roof top setting as close the Parthenon as one could wish, but seating basically on enclosed terrace which was extremely drafty and uncomfortably cold tainting in fact our whole experience. The bathrooms on the other hand are in the basement of this 7 floor building…so a wait for the elevator is called for.
Service - overall acceptable, but by no means exceptional. I had informed ahead of time of an allergy to prawn (shrimp), and was promptly served a prawn dish (not actually on the displayed menu)! This led to this dish being replaced with a dish off the vegetarian menu (no problem there), but this was in fact the same as one of the meat menu dishes (quail) but without the quail, so a sadly was basically served the same dish twice… I actually ended up missing two of the standard menu dishes due to the oversight with my allergy.
Food - overall ok (considering is a fine dining restaurant and charging prices to match) but nothing to really write home about, in fact trying to rack my brain to remember what stood out… possibly the ‘salad’ course named ‘Winter garden bostani’. Some courses in particular are left lacking imho, e.g. the pumpkin disk, which apart from the overpowering smoked pancetta was bland.
As mentioned in the title, we left feeling indifferent both stating no urge to return any time soon. We are locals, and can vouch that there are numerous alternatives already on the list for return visits… I do however wish the Sense chef, management and staff all the best, with a little ‘tweaking’ and added consideration, the restaurant could be spectacular.
We went for the view but we stayed for the food.
We went for the view but we stayed for the food. The night lighting of the Acropolis was a very romantic atmosphere and the excellent service from the staff helped to make the night very memorable. In regards to the food we order the 2 options vegetarian and regular. What can I say. As a person who prefers to eat meat honestly if I had made the mistake and order the vegetarian menu I would not have been disappointed. Every plate was perfect. Each one matching perfectly with the last so you did not get any strong difference in taste and yet still unique in its own style. Presentation and service was also great making me feel like I was dining with Kings. It is a place I would highly recommend anyone wanting to impress some one or if the have a special occasion to celebrate.
