Pretty yummy place! The garlic Parmesan bread was a tasty app. I got the truffle ravioli which was delectable. My husband got the pork which was really really good. The service was relatively quick or they gave us a heads up on how long it would take if it was a specific dish. The outdoor patio was fun, but the chairs opposite the booth felt a little cheap. We were between two families with kids, so maybe if you're not into kids you should opt for inside.

We elected to skip appetizers and go all in on many pastas and the fish of the day. The pastas were all great but the squid ink pasta with the fresh crab and the shell thing with the cheese were standouts. Almost re-ordered them. Fish of the day was served over a risotto which made it a hearty dish.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible meal at Seven Hills.
Started with the focaccia and meatballs followed by the little gem salad. The little gem salad was amazing - so light and citrusy. For my main I ordered the tortelli which was out of this world. It was in a lemon butter sauce with some pieces of crispy artichokes. To finish, we had the budino and bread pudding. This was one of the best meals I've had in SF!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite SF restaurants.
The restaurant is not too loud and has very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable servers. Very wonderful selection of wines. They change their menu constantly but nothing ever misses. I highly recommend getting the fish special of the day, as the fish is butchered in house. What stood out to me last time I went, was the pasta was not cooked to my taste and they offered to make me a whole new pasta and brought me a glass of wine on the house while I waited. Truly best in class service. I will continue to return :)
Be the first to ReplyThis remains one of my favorite Italian restaurants.
It's a bit pricey but every time I've been here, I've loved my meal. The menu changes periodically and there's always something new I want to try. It's a perfect place for a fancy date night but be sure to get a reservation. Even with the new, larger space, dinner time still fills up. Shout out to the server from my last visit, Ashton, you were awesome!
Be the first to Replyattentive service ambiance was cozy and large group
attentive service ambiance was cozy and large group friendly, easy to hear everyone ordered the taglialini with pesto for the table: garlic parmesan foccacia (delicious elevated garlic bread), star route salad, collar (which had something very strangely bitter tasting in it) zero proof mocktails (lemon elderflower and citrus burst) were good but not remarkable, the elderflower came with a rosemary sprig
Be the first to ReplyBelieve the hype--this place is amazing.
Great acoustics; we could easily hear everyone at the table. Every course was delicious. Make a reservation for a special occasion! PS DO NOT skip dessert--Chocolate Budino is a must!

Food is consistently delicious. Neighborhood vibe with sophisticated draw for all.

Celebrated our anniversary here and had a lovely experience! Service, ambiance, and food was all wonderful. They even gifted us some dessert wine and put a candle in our dessert to make the evening extra special. For starters, we ordered the garlic focaccia and wagyu carpaccio. Both were amazing! My partner ordered the orecchiette and I had the tortelli. The tortelli was definitely the better of the two and some of the best pasta I've ever had. For secondi we got the market fish and the steak. I loved the market fish and the risotto it came with and my partner thought the steak was cooked perfectly. We were definitely stuffed by the end but it was all worth it. Highly recommend dining here for a special occasion or date night.

Walked into the restaurant without a reservation on a Friday around 5:45 and got seated at the bar right away! This place had been on my list for a while and glad to be able to finally try it out. We ordered the meatball appetizer to share - it was tender and cheesy perfect for a winter day in the city. I also got the squid ink pasta with Dungeness crab (daily special pasta). $35 but there were plenty of crab pieces so it was quite worth it in my opinion. Had a great time here and would for sure come back to try other pasta dishes

We did not have a reservation but called Seven Hills on a Saturday night around 5 PM. They said they could put us on their waitlist and seat us at 7:30 but for an outside table. They assured me that it was heated and out of the rain. It was pouring buckets when we got there and quite windy. They seated us and turned on 2 ceiling heaters. We decided to order a drink and appetizers (Duck Liver Pate, Star Route Little Gem Salad, House Focaccia) as the heaters warmed up. The appetizers were excellent and the drink was bubbly and delicious. It was much too cold for us to have an enjoyable dinner. Luckily the restaurant was able to seat us indoors after the salad and bread was served. The Little Gem Salad was fantastic, tossed in a champagne vinegar dressing. I normally do not like focaccia but this homemade bread was delicious, light and not doused in olive oil. We ordered both specials which were the squid ink pasta with crabmeat and tortellini with truffles. We also ordered the Maccheroncelli and raviolini. Squid ink pasta with truffles was the star of the evening. Truffle shavings were generously served at the table and nestled back into the wooden box on a bed of rice kernels. The Maccheroncelli was a tomato based pasta with a house made ricotta. It was good but not spectacular though the pasta was cooked perfectly Al dente. The raviolini were quite small and I think the sauce was average: a browned butter that I thought was a bit on the runny side. It had nice crunch with the toasted crunch of walnuts. The star dish of the evening was the tortellinis with truffles. It was pricey but was absolutely divine! We appreciated the attention that the waitstaff gave us both inside and outside the restaurant and the dishes were memorable and delicious. Well done Seven Hills! We enjoyed dining with you!

All of us in our family are fans of Seven Hills! We've eaten there in a small group as well as a pre-fixed large family dinner. Every dish is delicious and there are options for food restrictions. The staff is professional, and the ambiance warm and relaxing. This time around, we catered event and needed to order food for a Sunday afternoon brunch. We were expecting 40 guests, and wanted the food to be properly prepared. Alexi was exceptionally helpful in directing our choices for the menu. We opted for a salad and a pasta. Both dishes were very impressive, tasty and appropriate, considering our guests. We will definitely call Seven Hills should we cater another event! Thank you to Alexi, the chef and everyone at Seven Hills!
Be the first to ReplyEverything tasted amazing - zero complaints about the food
Everything tasted amazing - zero complaints about the food and service!- garlic Parmesan focaccia (they mill their flour in house)- squid ink pasta special with Dungeness crab (my favorite item, would get again. Loved the the texture of the pasta and the flavor was so well balanced)- winter citrus salad (they use seasonal produce and it's easy to tell! They made use of a mandoquat fruit hybrid and it was great)- panna cotta (more mandoquat in action, again not complaining)Would definitely go back for other items.
Be the first to Replythink I had such high expectations that all the dishes
think I had such high expectations that all the dishes didn't meet my standards. the papardelle was somewhat a disappointment. pasta flat very bland and little meat/sauce. the squid ink pasta though was amazing and understand why it's a special! the combo with the crab meat is something a little different than other squid ink pastas I've tried, which I liked! and the meatballs as apps was a great choice. love the cheesy interior/middle. overall, think 2/3 dishes were solid but for the price point and for the hype from others, didn't live up to the expectations i had :/
Be the first to ReplyGoing on 15 years in San Francisco and it's still the best
Going on 15 years in San Francisco and it's still the best Italian spot, hands down. Their pasta is handmade and every sauce is exquisitely rich and balanced (don't let the smaller portions fool you - you will be full from sharing a pasta dish and 2 sides with someone!). Their salads and starters embrace local and seasonally-available ingredients. And the chocolate budino is life-changing. Thankfully, they finally started taking reservations through OpenTable in the past 5 years. It's nigh impossible to walk in for a table from Thursdays to Sundays unless you are willing to sit in their outdoor parklets, but it's worth even sitting outside in the cold for this spot (they have heaters, but in the winter still bring a blanket!). Also, passing on the message to everyone so to save the wait staff from having to answer this question for the billionth time....No, they no longer make the raviolo uovo (egg yolk ravioli) and they will not be bringing it back. It was retired during the pandemic due originally to labor shortages, but it's still not feasible for them to prepare it fully reopened as it is way too labor-intensive to manage with expanded restaurant operations. Not only did they move to a bigger location in the past few years, but they also have tables outside now in the parklet to serve, a full bar to staff and they have more demand for to-go orders with the pandemic changing customers' habits. I don't blame them, even if it is the best item on the menu and quite special!

Probably some of the best pasta I've had in the city, and I LOVE pasta! We ordered a couple different pastas between friends so that we could all sample. My favorite was definitely the maccheroncelli, with the noodles cooked to perfection. The tomato sauce was simple yet so hearty, and the freshness of the ingredients was apparent. The service was quick and friendly, and our server provided us with such good recommendations based on our preferences! Perfect place for dates or just to catch up with friends over some great food!

This small restaurant in San Francisco has a great wine selection and the food is incredible. If you enjoy pasta dishes and wine combine with a casual ambiance you will have a great time!
Be the first to ReplyFood: Never disappointed me.
Always enjoy authentic and tasty Italian foodsService: friendly, and knowledgeable Ambiance: They moved couple blocks a few years back. I liked cozy small restaurant before but they did a good job to keep a good coziness at much larger new space.

Waiter was rude and interrupted me while I was asking a question. Throughout the dinner he continued to be rude. Maybe he was having a bad day. I say, don't take it out on your diners. Seven Hills has a high reputation and it was not my first time there. Aside from the waiter's rudeness the serving staff was remarkable and polite.Wish we could find a way to seperate the tip out of the hands of the waiter and into the serving staffs'. Left with heartburn, gas and had a lousy night's sleep. That's it. Cross that one off my list.

Seven Hills is a farm to table Italian restaurant with lots of pasta and wine options. I came here last night for dinner- I recommend booking a table in advance, we called a few hours before dinner and they only had tables available outside. The heaters were pretty warm but I had to keep my coat on.The food was pretty tasty, we started with the garlic focaccia. It had a great garlic and cheese flavor and they gave enough for 5 people to share. I ordered the Maccheroncelli which a lot of yelp reviewers were saying was the best item- I thought it was pretty tasty, loved the ricotta cheese after mixing it all in, and it was heavy and I had a lot leftover. I wish there some meat or extra veggies though for the price ($26). I also tried the squid ink pasta with crab which was a special yesterday, and it was so tasty, lots of crab, and I was scraping the sauce from the plate. I did think the portion was a little small for how much it was ($38) but I guess it's what to expect from an upscale Italian restaurant! Overall good food and nice experience.
Be the first to Reply4.5/5 overall but the pasta and duck pate 5/5 I don't go
4.5/5 overall but the pasta and duck pate 5/5 I don't go out to pasta restaurants often but when I do I hope they are good and Seven Hills delivered. So far this is the best pasta I've had in the city - perfectly aldente pasta in a well balanced sauce and fresh ingredients meld together to create a delicious dish. AND the portions are good- not some skimpy serving of pasta that you feel robbed over- but the right amount where you are satisfied and also not feeling like you need to unbutton and be rolled out and will have meat/cheese sweats later. We started with the bread and duck pate. Duck pate is a must- amazing texture and flavor that is well balanced with a preserve (kumquat was ours) and salad. Bread was just okay (granted the restaurant we ate out the prior week was automat and their focaccia is just on another level).I got the special pasta - squid ink with fresh crab; the squid ink pasta had the perfect bite. The garlic lemon sauce stuck just enough to the pasta to give enough of a flavor to the pasta and crab without overpowering either. The crab was SOOOO sweet and fresh - in nice large chunks as well. I would have licked the plate if the venue wasn't so nice haha The Maccheroncelli was also to die for- pasta once again cooked perfectly; ever pasta was like a nice little bouncy ball of carbs and sauce. The sauce on this one was the right balance of salt, sweetness and acidity. The cheese was fun to mix into bites as the creaminess it provided elevated the dish even more .Overall - even though I am not a pasta restaurant fan I would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyA friend of mine took me there on May 20.
My friend is a caucasian and I just felt like I wasn't there. Food is overrated, service is very horrible with racial undertones. The waitress just kept looking and talking to my friend. I hope they go out of business.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service every time .
I haven't had a missed plate yet. So goood!!!!!'
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Italian restaurants in the city.
Their various pastas are on the top of our list, especially the Agnolotti with truffles - we always order two of them as it is so good!
Be the first to ReplyWe were in awe the whole night at Seven Hills.
Of all the years going out for our wedding anniversary dinners, this was the very best dining experience of all. We celebrated our 30th anniversary in San Francisco at this highly-rated restaurant. Thank you fellow Yelpers for leading us here. Since it was a spur of the moment trip, we didn't have reservations to SH. But the kindest hostess ever, Katryn got us a table after we called her inquiring if there was availability. It's a beautiful place. We ordered these amazing dishes and everything was a 5/5! 100/100! The food was incredible! Thank you to their chef! -Di Stefano Burrata-amazing flavors with fresh figs all melded together, a beautiful presentation on the plate -Baby greens salad-fresh and light-Herb Focaccia-this was a very delicious bread-Tagliolini pasta-loved the light tomato sauce base and the combination of summer squash, ricotta and basil flavors-Tagliatelle Verde pasta-the mushroom, cream sauce, and verde pasta was a sublime masterpiece -Chocolate Budino-each spoonful was a chocolate delightOur server Massimo suggested that we have the pastas as courses since we told him we were sharing. This made it that each dish came at different times, enabling us to enjoy each. Because the pastas were served at separate times, they were freshly prepared and hot--to be enjoyed immediately. The service was the best we've ever experienced. Massimo was a quintessential and professional waiter-knowledgeable and precise and there to make sure everything was perfect. The friendly and hard-working support staff were part of the perfect service too-changing out plates and placing new settings, taking empty dishes, refilling water glasses and the water bottle and even wiping down/clearing our table between the courses. We loved this extraordinary experience. Thank you SH for making our 30th anniversary so memorable and special. We will definitely return every chance we get. It is now our most favorite Italian restaurant in SF!
