Shukette New York Reviews from The Last Year
Cool
I was blown away. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with an awesome atmosphere and exquisite interiors that set the perfect tone for the evening. The attention to detail in the decor and ambiance was truly impressive.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The layout of the dining area was well thought out, providing both comfort and intimacy. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. The menu boasted a wide variety of options, each one more appetizing than the last. I opted for a mouthwatering steak, cooked to perfection and accompanied by delectable sides. The flavors were bold and the presentation was impeccable. Not only was the food exceptional, but the drink selection was equally impressive. The restaurant offered an extensive list of beverages, ranging from classic cocktails to artisanal creations. The attentive and knowledgeable staff guided me through the menu, ensuring I found the perfect pairing for my meal. When it comes to pricing, this restaurant offers great value for the quality of food and service provided. While not the cheapest option in town, the overall experience justifies the cost. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied in every way. The combination of delicious food, remarkable drinks, comfortable ambiance, and attentive staff made for an unforgettable dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a truly outstanding culinary adventure.
Awesome experience
Highly recommended. Great food and service.
Loved the food and vibes!
Everything we had was awesome and the service couldnt have been better. Highly recommend
Delicious food.
Their frena bread and labneh is amazing. Their grilled chicken melts in your mouth. Place is amazing
Pretty good
Place was pretty full even close to closing. Lively and vibrant. Very polite and friendly staff. I struggled with the identity of the food. Each dish was a modified dish of somewhere in the Middle East. A mix of Persian, Moroccan, Israeli, Palestinian, Turkish, etc dishes. I suspect this is the idea which is great but some of the flavors slightly missed the mark. The portions are small but adequate if you get an appetizer. Overall worth experiencing.
Yum. Thats the experience we had. Good food great service.
Yum. Thats the experience we had. Good food great service. The Frena bread is to die for with the hummus. The Charred Cauliflower was a miss for us. We saw every single table order that but honestly we did not like it.Mushroom Arayes - yum. It comes with a dip all goodA special mention to the drink i had it was soo good - Kayseri - very tasty with egg whites - kinda different take on a sour. Ambiance - it was buzzing and even though we got the high table seating it did not feel uncomfortable. Great overall.
Mediterranean plates
Birthday dinner with family, very busy, bustling small restaurant. Interesting different small plates, colorful as well as beautiful presentations on each dish. Delicious dips and breads, vegetable plates all tasty w/ a sauce for each. The lamb was my favorite and the chicken too. SO tasty and tender. Birthday soft ice cream dessert! Have a huge selection of cocktails too. A bit noisy if you’re looking for intimate, I would not recommend. Very tasty!! Great memory, would recommend.
Love Shuka so had high hopes, but was totally disappointed.
Meh flavor in food and nothing was exceptional that we had at all. Wine list overpriced and not very good. Need at least a couple great wines by the glass on a dinner menu. We had a specialty bread that was doughy and only a little flavor, labneh ok, nothing special, carrots ok, butter beans totally bland, shrimp fine, again boring, Iranian rice tasty but not interesting enough to go back for. We stopped ordering as didn't really like any of it. Malbec was best red on the menu by the glass and really just drinkable.
Hosts were unusually rude and honestly ruined the vibe.
I wish I could say the food was better but it was either to sour or too spicy. We ordered the wagyu beef which was no better than supermarket ground beef. The potatoes and broccolini were over charred. There are about a million better middle eastern restaurants in NYC and you should take your business elsewhere.
Flavorful and thoughtful Moroccan small plates are perfect
Flavorful and thoughtful Moroccan small plates are perfect for sharing. Had the harissa carrots, Iranian rice, steak kabobs, sweet potato and follows this with soft serve. Pricey but outstanding. Service was attentive. Sat outside on a cold night and was plenty warm. Very happy we made reservations and tried this place during our week in NYC.
All things considered I give this place 3 stars.
4 stars for quality of the food, 3 stars when considering the cost. The best thing on the menu is the frena, chicken and the shish kebab. The Adana truly lacked flavor and the citrus salad was underwhelming (tasted like oranges w mild sumac). The lebnah was a classic. Overall , great mediterranean experience for a novice.

The food was so flavorful and unique! We started with the labneh and the frena which was their recommended bread and I can see why! It was spiced with oregano and garlic and paired well with the labneh. We also had the lafa bread which was like a flat pita.I highly recommend the fish in a cage because the fish was cooked to perfection with delicious spices. We got the reservations about a month in advance. The ambiance is a great spot for a date night or a meal with friends.

Couldn't get a reso, but we walked in and they were able to accommodate us in the outside seating area. It is well heated and cozy. We ordered the labneh with fena. It is absolutely to die for. We split some small plates including the mushroom stuffed pitas, cauliflower, and shrunk skewers. All delicious. I recommended trying the tahini soft serve for dessert. It's really different and taste it.

For my first time trying middle eastern cuisine, I was impressed! I tried a mixture of the small plates and some of my favorites included the labnah and the bread (forgot the name). The charred broccolini was a miss for us. It was overly charred and inedible. Thankfully our server let us swap this out for something else.Service was spot on! Our server had some great recommendations for us. When making a reservation almost all of the indoor dining was booked, so we opted for the outdoor seating. To my surprise this was just as comfortable and warm. I enjoyed this much better than being inside because it wasn't as loud.
This is my GO TO spot in Chelsea.
The menu is incredible and everything I have tried here is excellent. Every time I'm in NYC I snag a reservation here - at this point I think I have tried each seasonal menu!

Stopped here for a light dinner on Saturday night, I had a reservation so I was seated upon arrival (highly recommend making a reservation). The place is very nice & clean it's in Chelsea area, staff were welcoming and nice. No complimentary bread or sauces are served like other Middle Eastern restaurants. Ambience & music were good! The menu has a decent variety of twisted Middle Eastern dishes, the plates & portions are small for the price tho so don't expect decent portions here. If you are hungry you will need t order multiple things just keep that in mind. I ordered the labnah & bread both were on point!! Overall a decent experience!
Shukette is Overrated
Shukette Lots of hype and buzz whirls about at this Chelsea, small plate, Mediterranean spot. It’s not easy to snag a reservation, and, when you do, the restaurant will be jammed (rush hour subway jammed) with predominantly “20 somethings.” It’s so packed, it’s hard to maneuver, even while seated at your table. The “atmosphere” (or complete lack thereof) can only be described as a “low end diner presently undergoing construction.” If you’re looking for ambiance, this is not your place. The waiter was very attentive and so pleasant, and made some good ordering suggestions. The food ran the gamut from delicious (infused labneh and seasoned lafa) to good (palate cleansing citrus salad and braised butter beans) to mediocre at best (mushroom stuffed pita). We’ve been to Shuka, and much prefer Shuka’s food, atmosphere and menu. Shukette is not bad, but with atmosphere bordering on the unpleasant and inconsistent food , it just does NOT live up to the hype!

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
