Delicious food.
Their frena bread and labneh is amazing. Their grilled chicken melts in your mouth. Place is amazing

Yum. Thats the experience we had. Good food great service. The Frena bread is to die for with the hummus. The Charred Cauliflower was a miss for us. We saw every single table order that but honestly we did not like it.Mushroom Arayes - yum. It comes with a dip all goodA special mention to the drink i had it was soo good - Kayseri - very tasty with egg whites - kinda different take on a sour. Ambiance - it was buzzing and even though we got the high table seating it did not feel uncomfortable. Great overall.
Be the first to ReplyHosts were unusually rude and honestly ruined the vibe.
I wish I could say the food was better but it was either to sour or too spicy. We ordered the wagyu beef which was no better than supermarket ground beef. The potatoes and broccolini were over charred. There are about a million better middle eastern restaurants in NYC and you should take your business elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyLove Shuka so had high hopes, but was totally disappointed.
Meh flavor in food and nothing was exceptional that we had at all. Wine list overpriced and not very good. Need at least a couple great wines by the glass on a dinner menu. We had a specialty bread that was doughy and only a little flavor, labneh ok, nothing special, carrots ok, butter beans totally bland, shrimp fine, again boring, Iranian rice tasty but not interesting enough to go back for. We stopped ordering as didn't really like any of it. Malbec was best red on the menu by the glass and really just drinkable.

Flavorful and thoughtful Moroccan small plates are perfect for sharing. Had the harissa carrots, Iranian rice, steak kabobs, sweet potato and follows this with soft serve. Pricey but outstanding. Service was attentive. Sat outside on a cold night and was plenty warm. Very happy we made reservations and tried this place during our week in NYC.

The food was so flavorful and unique! We started with the labneh and the frena which was their recommended bread and I can see why! It was spiced with oregano and garlic and paired well with the labneh. We also had the lafa bread which was like a flat pita.I highly recommend the fish in a cage because the fish was cooked to perfection with delicious spices. We got the reservations about a month in advance. The ambiance is a great spot for a date night or a meal with friends.
Be the first to ReplyAll things considered I give this place 3 stars.
4 stars for quality of the food, 3 stars when considering the cost. The best thing on the menu is the frena, chicken and the shish kebab. The Adana truly lacked flavor and the citrus salad was underwhelming (tasted like oranges w mild sumac). The lebnah was a classic. Overall , great mediterranean experience for a novice.

Couldn't get a reso, but we walked in and they were able to accommodate us in the outside seating area. It is well heated and cozy. We ordered the labneh with fena. It is absolutely to die for. We split some small plates including the mushroom stuffed pitas, cauliflower, and shrunk skewers. All delicious. I recommended trying the tahini soft serve for dessert. It's really different and taste it.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my GO TO spot in Chelsea.
The menu is incredible and everything I have tried here is excellent. Every time I'm in NYC I snag a reservation here - at this point I think I have tried each seasonal menu!

For my first time trying middle eastern cuisine, I was impressed! I tried a mixture of the small plates and some of my favorites included the labnah and the bread (forgot the name). The charred broccolini was a miss for us. It was overly charred and inedible. Thankfully our server let us swap this out for something else.Service was spot on! Our server had some great recommendations for us. When making a reservation almost all of the indoor dining was booked, so we opted for the outdoor seating. To my surprise this was just as comfortable and warm. I enjoyed this much better than being inside because it wasn't as loud.

Stopped here for a light dinner on Saturday night, I had a reservation so I was seated upon arrival (highly recommend making a reservation). The place is very nice & clean it's in Chelsea area, staff were welcoming and nice. No complimentary bread or sauces are served like other Middle Eastern restaurants. Ambience & music were good! The menu has a decent variety of twisted Middle Eastern dishes, the plates & portions are small for the price tho so don't expect decent portions here. If you are hungry you will need t order multiple things just keep that in mind. I ordered the labnah & bread both were on point!! Overall a decent experience!

Make reservation first! But it won't wait so long to be seated. I came there with my friend at my Bday. The server is very nice! The food and drink are great! It's always packed.
Be the first to ReplyI loved it here! The experience was excellent.
From our sweet attentive kind server-Ashley to the amazing Chefs-Eloid, Luis and the rest of their team. Sitting at the bar was the best view as we watched the Chefs working the magic in the kitchen. It was truly enjoyable. Highly highly recommend this place. Honestly, the food was Delicioso!! I will return for sure. Guys, check this place out. No joke. This is a real review. Thank you all for making our time here a very memorable one. You rock Shukette!

Amazing server and food was delivered promptly, but unfortunately the food and the wine disappointed everyone in our party. We all agreed Shuka is far superior to Shukette. The best dish we had of 8 was the lamb, but only those of us who had the lamb all had stomach aches hours later.

Shukette's curb appeal does not do it Justice as the interior is quite appealing. We had an excellent meal, albeit pricey with a good bottle of wine. Ordered for our party of four the following : Labne ( ***), Hummus (not excellent but good) and Trout dip ( ***) to start with a few Frena's ( their best bread, excellent). The Cherries ( ***) and peach salad ( *meh) followed. Ended with three mains- Fish in a cage (***), chicken ( ***) and lamb skewer (***) with the fish the best. Ended with the strawberry sorbet that was excellent. Service was great - everyone was both efficient and friendly. Loved it.

This place is absolutely delicious! For 2 people, we got the tomato salad, scallops, and chicken kebab. All 3 things were so good. - tomato salad: I didn't expect much from it, but after taking the first bite, I could not stop! The sauce on the side complemented the tomato so well. It gave an entirely new flavor profile to tomatoes!- scallops: everything on the scallop plate was great. The scallop was seared perfectly and was super juicy. It went really well with the accompanied sauce. The side was also really tasty and refreshing. - chicken: chicken was great. It was cooked just right and went really well with the sauce. It was just the right amount of juiciness and chewiness! We could not get a resy for Friday 6pm, so we waited for ~1 hour to get a table! While waiting we went to walk around the waterfront! Overall a super nice experience! Will definitely come back again!

Food so authentic and delicious, I didn't know where to start so I kept ordering. Plates are meant to be shared, so bring an appetite. It is worth the price trust me. The lamb is cooked to perfection. The bread is fresh and garlicky. The steak kabob is smoky and the radishes and pickles that come with it are fresh and satisfying.

So glad I got around to checking out this spot!! It's been on my radar for a little bit... The Frena bread was amazing... so soft, fluffy, with a stretchy texture and a bit of a crisp on the outside. It came garnished with baked whole garlic cloves and fresh oregano leaves. It paired deliciously with both the Labneh and the Hummus. I could come in and eat these all day!!The Heirloom Tomato Salad and Grilled White Nectarines were just okay. Not very complex in flavor/texture and a bit pricey for what they are. The Toum (whipped garlic) in the tomato salad was a bit overpowering. A bit more citrus, sweetness, or spices would add a better flavor balance to these dishes. The Joojeh Chicken was roasted nice and soft, but overall tasted a bit plain: too much garlic from the Toum and too few other spices. Service was good, but a bit pushy. We were given the impression that we under-ordered, but ended up completely stuffed, with leftovers, and having to skip dessert. (What we ordered: 2x Frenas, 1x Labneh, 1x Hummus, 1x Pickles, 1x Tomato Salad, 1x Grilled Nectarines, 1x Chicken) Next time, I would probably order as follows: a Frena, a dip or two, pickles, one protein, a dessert and a drink.Cool spot, though. Looking forward to coming back!

Worst experience ever at middle eastern restaurants! I usually don't write reviews, but I had to for this one. The food was so so and cold, and everything was overpriced. They charged for everything separately, even bread and sauces. Definitely not going back.

Shukette most definitely lives up to the hype! Got a late night reservation and took the opportunity to order and taste as much of the menu as possible. First of all, loved the fun ambiance & creative menu... very cool diner-like vibe! Secondly, food was really really good!! Fun, creative twist on middle eastern cuisine. Some standouts include all the dips / mezzes with their bread, grilled calamari, shawarma spiced fries, joojeh chicken, steak shish, as well as all the tasty "accessories." And make sure to save some room for the tahini soft serve... it was like nothing I've ever tried before and truly a "mic drop," as described!! My only wish is to be able to land another reservation to Shukette to experience it all over again!

Restaurant gets packed at peak hours so it can be a bit crowded, but the vibe is really lively and nice nonetheless. The labneh with apricots paired with the frena is a really delicious, different spin on mezze classics, and the toum is great to pair with entrees if you love garlic. The fattoush and the tuna crudo were both excellent and fresh, and the lamb sausage and fish in a cage were both delicious - the sausages had a touch of sumac which I loved. Cocktails are meh but service is great.

Amazing food and excellent service! I am a good cook of middle eastern dishes ย and the daughter of a great cook and baker, i did not expect to be ย so impressed but I was blown away. Everything we tasted was a master piece, sublime taste, creative mix of ingredient, aromas and subtle infusion of herbs and spices. But the desert, wow! I am not someone who orders desert but I can go back just to have another spoonful of the tahini ice Cream!what adds to the delightful experience ย is the Staff knowledge of the food they are serving, impressive! We can't wait to go back! Thank you.

Absolutely incredible! Scored a counter seat reservation here during my stay in NYC with my mom. The food was out of this world. We enjoyed the butter beans, frena, cauliflower, and jeweled rice. Everything came out piping hot and fresh as we watched it being made right before our eyes! We dipped everything in the toum, which i have not stopped thinking about since. To drink we both had a citrus gazoz which was delightful and refreshing. Our server tanya was wonderful and truly made the experience one to remember. If we are ever in the city again, we will be back!!!
