Rating simply on how the restaurant handled a problem with my first order and my poor experience with Grubhub delivering the items. Unfortunately, I did not know that there are several ways to make the signature, Honey Walnut Shrimp. This isn't shrimp and grits like in New Orleans where you can "expect" the chef to put their own take on it. It's an Americanized made up Chinese dish with a honey kewpie mayo as the star sauce. Think Bang Bang shrimp but with a honey mayo. This restaurant credited me for the honey walnut shrimp after requesting I send a photo which I thought was very clever and creative after hearing how busy they were. 1st I called to inform them that Grubhub had dropped my order without a knock or a ring of not one but two doorbells. I was sitting inches from the door in my studio apartment and I don't know how this whispering angel dropped off a bag without a sound down the outside hall. So I called because after 2 hours I discovered my cold order waiting for me on my doorstep. They were first unable to do anything because they do not have anything to do with third party apps like Grubhub. As I had ordered through Yelp which places the restaurant in touch with a driver of Grubhub, I was screwed as far as calling and complaining or even modifying the tip. I called back because of the discovery that the only sauce on side for the walnut shrimp sans walnuts was a wannabe marinara based on ketchup and cornstarch. The rangoons that i heated up in the toaster oven and the sesame chicken and broccoli with steamed white rice were pretty good heated up in the microwave. The spring rolls again, I heated up in my toaster oven. Maybe if I had a fancy air fryer things would be better. Items came packaged well in the nicer Tupperware with the clear lid on top. I will give them another shot. The ultimate reason long story long, as to why I gave Shun Lee a 5 star was because the owner called back and had showed the photo I sent of the walnut shrimp to the chef and apologized once again but to say that they had actually forgotten the walnuts but that was their walnut shrimp recipe and that the mayo based sauce was the one I must have been thinking of on the coconut shrimp. Even if the walnuts were present on their take of the dish, I would still not order it, but this was why the manager called me back so that I would not be disappointed in the future and to perhaps pick a different dish. I found the shrimp to floury in taste without seasoning and did not want to make the sauce work. The shrimp was served over snap peas and zucchini which my little frenchie after I rinsed off the veg happily enjoyed with some of the rice with her evening meal. Shrimp was tossed and I do not waste food.
