Tasting menu & wine pairing
Good food with great service. Six dishes with six wines. Most dishes were strong 9 and a couple of strong 7. and found some wines did not match the food, but again, that's my palate. Great concept restaurant, will be back!
Be the first to ReplyGreat concept
Great experience. Neverland menu was so tasty, there were six dishes which were excellent and although look smaller are very filling and tasty! The staff were friendly and really attentive especially on a busy Saturday evening
Be the first to ReplyInteresting concept
We really enjoyed our meal at Six by Nico. The menu was interesting and the food was excellent. The only downside was that our waiter seemed very distracted and wasnāt attentive. Luckily the hostess (Sarah) jumped in and picked up some of the slack. Weāll definitely go again.
Be the first to ReplyGood, but it great
Expected it to be better that it was. Food felt very pre-prepared and left out for a while. Most of it was deep fried and felt greasy. We did the wine pairing, which was great. Enjoyed the concept. Overall, nice evening, but the food was a disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent all-round
Great food, great service, great value for money. Although this is billed as a ātasterā menu, there is more than enough to fill you up! If you like high quality food at a very reasonable price, go here!

Exceptional experience. Food was brilliant but what topped it was the fantastic service. We had the Tokyo menu and pairing wineā¦ bloody brilliant!
Be the first to ReplyStill hungry after the meal
I am a size 10 woman but left feeling hungry. I went home and cooked some food. Food tasted nice ther just wasnāt enough of it. We went for the Japanese tasting menu, not bad food tasted good there just wasnāt enough of it. My partner is 6ā5 he was still very hungry afterwards. If it wasnāt enough to fill me then it certainly wasnāt enough for him. It was an expensive meal to leave hungry.

Interesting concept, six taster dishes. The sevice was excellent. Friendly, welcoming and very professional without being pushy. Very well organized. The dishes were spaced out over two hours with a good interval. Very tasty dishes with lots of flavours.
Be the first to ReplyLittle disappointing, only this time
Six by Nico has always been our restaurant where we celebrated special occasions and enjoyed every bit of overall experience. Only this time I was rather disappointed with the food. Many dishes were way Too salty, not hot enough to the warm white wines. I like my food and drinks as they are supposed to be. The only dish I enjoyed the most was the desert. The service was nice until the waiters asked us to move to the bar with our glass of wine. We informed twice to the other waiters that we will be out in less than 5 mins but they had no patience. We had to leave our wine and make our way out. The worse bit is to see no one waiting on our table to be served
Be the first to ReplyGreat service , food looked fab but.........
Atmosphere was buzzing , service was top notch but food was very disappointing. None of the courses were hot enough and at best tepid. The wine (Riesling ) was as warm as the food. Whilst visually the food was presented amazingly it left each of our party hungry. Best course by far was the dessert.. most disappointing was the cold Pepperoni pizza and the extremely runny shellfish risotto. Had a far better meal for a third of the cost the night before.

Visited here with two friends on a Saturday evening, arrived 20 minutes early and were sat at the bar, after 15 minutes no one had come to see us so had to ask for a menu! Waiter sat us down and said āOh sorry youāre stuck me tonightā the whole group work in hospitality so we get he was trying to make a joke but maybe not very appropriate? Was sat at a table right by the door so every time someone come in you got a cold breeze, did ask to move but the restaurant was full. (A previous table I think had the same complaint but were moved) Was deciding between the wine match and a couple of bottles but waiter didnāt really seem interested in the wine match or try to up sell so went with the bottles. There was an aperitif cocktail and snacks that we also werenāt offered when we sure would have if the waiter explained them to us. We had a different person every course bringing it over and explaining it so not really sure what our waiter was doing at this time? Whole experience just seem very rush, had six course in 1 hour 15 minutes, food was average just feels like they are trying a little too hard to be ātrendyā rather than put good food on a plate? This place has the opportunity to be great, the concept is a good idea but staff really need some better training and food needs work!
Be the first to ReplyGreat good, poor service
The perfect experience dining out is the confluence of great food and great service. You want to indulge in delicious eating and be waited on during your time at the restaurant. Six by Nico passed the test on the former with flying colours, but the service left much to be desired. First the good: the food. We ate from the Hanoi menu which paid homage to some great Vietnamese tastes. We chose a couple of options from the vegetarian menu to go with the standard fare. You'd think that a six-course menu for Ā£44 would mean small portions, but they were perfectly decent and would put some fine dining establishments to shame with their size. They were almost all great with a full spectrum of flavours and tastes throughout the courses. We loved the mushroom broth so much and asked the server how it was done, only to be offered the recipe! The food was fantastic and we would love to do it all again when the next menu change comes up. Unfortunately, the service was far from fantastic. We were led to our table but did not see another person at our table for more than ten minutes -- no one to ask about water or drinks, no one to ask if we had any questions about the menu; just no one. When our server did finally show up, she mumbled through an apology and offered us prosecco (on the house) as a mea culpa. We did appreciate the gesture but it felt like they were trying to buy off their mistake. To be clear, the restaurant was far from full and while busy, we've eaten at far busier places with far better service. Because my wife and I had some dietary restrictions, we had to combine options between the regular and vegetarian menus. This caused much confusion and almost resulted in us not getting the right food. As we went through the night, there seemed to be poor communication between the servers. One would be at our table trying to explain and pour us a glass of wine; another would show up at our table with a dish and try to talk over the first one. It was all a bit distracting. Of server also struck up a conversation with the table next to us. It's always nice when that happens, but she got quite into it and neglected the fact that it intruded on our evening. She had also blocked our path out of the table making it quite difficult to head off to the bathroom. We made our way to the end of the menu (which was mentioned above, we enjoyed thoroughly). After we turned down the usual offer of coffee, we expected the bill to show up. We had plenty to talk about so we didn't think much of it. But 15 minutes of waiting saw no one appear at our table (much like how our meal began). The friendliness and attention our server showed to the table next to us was not at all present when our bill was needed. Ultimately, we gave up and walked to the front of the restaurant and asked to pay the bill. A quick-thinking server suggested that they were just on the way over with the bill, but of course the damage was done by then. We were celebrating a special night as it was my wife's birthday (something the restaurant knew about). We don't demand it, but you'd think in such a situation we'd see plenty of extra attention. We got none of it. We'd love to go back for the food, but after a service experience like that, we just can't imagine it happening.
Be the first to ReplyAn experience to remember!!
When we arrived, we mistakenly thought that the beautiful plates of food, some of which were the best tasting we've ever had, would be the highlight of our trip- but how wrong we were. The staff at Six by Nico (Fitzrovia) are a credit to the company, and the fine-dining industry as a whole. We were met by some of the warmest, most charismatic, and funniest servers, that made our visit truly unforgettable. Several times, the two of us agreed that if possible we would've invited the entire serving staff to join us at our table, feeling as though we had known them for years, let alone an hour. I, myself, have worked for a high-end fine-dining establishment for over half a decade, and often find, because of my age (mid-twenties but have a serious case of 'babyface') that younger customers aren't treated with the same care and attention as those, say middle age and up. We couldn't have been cared for more, and struggled to leave, thankfully catching the name of a few of the many smiley faces we had got to known over the course of the meal (a massive thanks to Laiyla) Focusing more on the food, words can't describe how delicious and masterfully plated each course was. Each in competition with the next. I was concerned that as a pescatarian I would miss out on the delicious looking fish dishes on offer, thankfully, once again, the staff were there to make sure I was able to experience the Hanoi menu to it's fullest. A favourite of the night was the shellfish foam (course 1) which was so incredible I wish I could have a continuous IV drip of it, as I didn't want it to end. The coconut cod was equally amazing, I truly don't think I will be able to eat cod again without it being a little disappointing. We can only extend our greatest thanks for what was an unforgettable evening, and can't wait to come bac for the next menu! Best, Aimee and Sofiya (aka. the girls in green)
Be the first to ReplyTruly indulgent experience
Really great experience! The staff were all super friendly, Luca in particular was fantastic- really attentive. Being of Asian descent I was a little worried about eating an Asian menu but it was absolutely spectacular and really exceeded expectations. Looking forward to the next time already. Thanks team!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food in a buzzing restaurant.
We had a great lunch - the welcome was good, the staff were friendly, and service was attentive enough without being intrusive. The food was really excellent, with each dish being so well constructed with flavour combinations. We were impressed. For the price, this was excellent standard and value. The restaurant is buzzing and quite noisy, but only in an atmospheric way. We would definitely go again and are all keen to try the Canary Wharf branch too and keen to try the next different menu, which changes every six week. brilliant place and highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, even better business model
I lived in Scotland for a couple of years and was never able to get a table at Six by Nico in Edinburgh, so was excited to finally go to the one in Fitzrovia. Immediate impressions were itās a genius business model but not quite the fine dining experience I wanted. Most fine dining restaurants in London do ācheaperā set tasting and pre-theatre menus. Often though the cheapest bottle of wine is Ā£50, the set menu can feel hastily thrown together and you have the feeling that the staff canāt wait to get you out and have someone in whoās going to spend a lot more than you ever will. Six by Nico is a standardised set menu for the masses and you have to marvel at the genius of it - Iām sure there are going to be a lot of imitators. Thereās what at first sight looks like an open kitchen at the Fitzrovia restaurant but which you realise is more like a fast food assembly area. People are assembling elements and churning out plate after plate of dainty looking little dishes. Itās the illusion of fine dining though really as when you pay more attention to the dishes you understand itās not always especially ācheffyā, even though there are some great flavours. The markups must be staggering at this place. Itās a surprise nobody has done this sooner, i.e. take the model of a Wagamama or Wahaca and apply it to fine dining, so I salute Six by Nico for it. The snobs will criticise it but the reality is Londonās ācheffyā chefs need to up their game and stop ripping people off. The food itself was good. One dish was very bad (Bun Rieu) - just very strange flavours - the rest was very good. Ā£26 bottle of wine was fine, we didnāt try their more expensive wine pairings. Where this place really fails on the fine dining experience though is the ambiance of the restaurant. It was incredibly loud and busy. Good they are doing well, I was hoping it would be a little bit classier though to be honest. Coming in at over Ā£150 for two, with appetisers and a couple of extra drinks itās still not cheap but cheaper than a six course tasting menu will be at most London restaurants. Iād recommend but with the qualification that if you want a more intimate experience this probably isnāt the place.
Be the first to ReplyA little disappointing
We recently visited Six By Nico and took our brother and sister in law as a birthday gift as weād heard good things. If Iām honest we were disappointed from the outsetā¦ first impressions really matter. We arrived and waited a while before we were able to get the attention of a waitress to order some drinks and crackers. We did this and then 10 mins later another waitress arrived at our table to check what drinks weād ordered. We also raised that we ordered snacks and she said that hadnāt been mentioned to her. This set the tone for the service for the rest of the meal if Iām honest. We ordered 2 wine pairings and not only had the courses arrived and been eaten before 1 pairing arrived (we of course had to chase it) but they hadnāt processed the 2nd pairing. The waiter agreed to take some of the second round of beers we ordered off the menu as they took far too long aswell. Whatās more frustrating about the service is that we could see multiple staff members standing around by the pass not doing anything. Onto the foodā¦ it was the taste of Hanoi menu and Iād received an email beforehand with images of each dish which set the bar high. Unfortunately, the first course of shellfish foam with grapefruit, avocado and rice puffs was abysmal. All 4 people at the table left it which was noticed by the waiter and we were asked if we wanted to try the veggie alternative which we did and whilst it was better (it was difficult not to be), it still left much to be desired. Thankfully, the only way is up from there! The prawn spring roll was delicious, the beef noodle with bone marrow was the star of the show for two of us and the curry cod was a delight! Tamarind chicken and the dessert had mixed opinions. Something else that we found a little strange about the restaurant was the music played, on entry you get a great vibe and can feel the atmosphere but they are playing party oontz oontz rave style music in a sophisticated tasting menu venue, it doesnāt quite add up. I like that the tasting menus are themed and change every six weeks, itās a real USP vs any other restaurants weāve been to. I wonāt be rushing back to Six By Nico for their next menu if Iām honest mainly due to the poor service. Iām glad it wasnāt more experience per head or weād really be kicking up a fuss!

Ambience and quality of service was brilliant - it seems they are going for a modern and somewhat casual approach to fine dining. Food came very quickly as others have mentioned is made en masse in an assembly line fashion to take from the pass. Portions of this size should speak volumes with flavour, sadly it did not hit the mark for me.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Food, great service, fair price
Fine dining at a very competitive price. Our second visit - Great service again. Had the current Hanoi menu - all courses were really superb. Hot day so washed down with plenty of Rose. One of the party had wine pairings which were spot on. essential to book as very popular.
Be the first to ReplyBe careful of your deposit
Nice food, courteous waiting staff. I would have given a much better rating if ,as promised a glass of Prosecco had been forth coming for our wedding anniversary but also more importantly the Ā£30 deposit which secured the table had been deducted from our bill ( that was very sneaky!)
Be the first to ReplyThe home experience is better
I originally booked a table here before it launched in 2020 for my friend's birthday... and then Covid hit. Last year, I ordered a Home by Nico experience for her birthday, which was amazing. So much food, amazing flavour, great concept. Therefore my friend and I were really excited to finally get to go this June for her birthday. However, unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The decor is very stylish, but the acoustics are fairly terrible as someone else has pointed out - the level of noise added to the feeling of mild chaos. We were seated on a tiny table by a pillar which was a shame as we'd booked so far in advance and it was for her birthday. We did at least get a complimentary glass of fizz to celebrate, but this was somewhat dampened by the fact our waitress came over and looked very awkward, and said "uhh... I think this is.. prosecco? Is it your birthday?" looking between us. We opted for the wine flight and our waitress bringing the drinks was very good. However, everything felt so rushed, like we were very much on a conveyor belt of customers. It was hard to keep up with drinking the wine in time with the courses - and I consider myself a fast drinker! The food itself was OK, but not very memorable - and every single plate was lukewarm. Such a shame as I've had friends go to the Edinburgh restaurant, and another who dined at this one, and they both raved about it. Sadly I can't say we'd recommend.
Be the first to ReplyStandards have dropped sadly!
My mum and I are huge fans of Six By Nico and have visited every menu since last June. We always visit Fitzrovia as we had a few issues at the Canary Wharf branch, but sadly it seems Fitzrovia isnāt what it used to be anymore.
My first issue is my booking for May has been cancelled as they no longer are opening Tuesday evenings. I was emailed telling me of this and that I could reschedule - but when I tried to reschedule there was no availability. Frustrating.
My second issue is with our most recent visit to the Ancient Rome menu. The food is very nice here, I cannot fault the chefs! However our first course was cold (we could see the waiters getting courses mixed up for other people, taking them back and sitting for a while which is probably why they get cold). We also missed a course and had to point this out to our waitress then eat in the wrong order, so if we didnāt pick up on this ourselves weād have Five by Nico.
We also found the service slow and drinks didnāt come until we were eating our second course.
I donāt know whatās happened as last year we couldnāt fault anything about this restaurant, but the standards have sadly dropped.
Very disappointing
To echo the comments of the two previous reviews - very average from start to finish and from someone who has been a big fan of six by nico, albeit dining in the Manchester restaurant previously.
I clocked quite quickly that the body language of the staff was off - they were more interested with laughing and joking than attending to the guests and the food told a similar story.
Two of the six dishes were solid but not strong enough to carry the menu
Over estimated
Me and my partner came here as a birthday celebration, with very high expectations but what we found was nothing like what we expected.
To start with, the waitress said she would order the food straight away because sometimes it can take a bit long, the food arrived in 5 minutes before we even ordered any drinksā¦
A couple of times we had to āremindā them to bring our drinks because they were too busy having a chat and a laugh at the back of the barā¦
One of the dishes that came with a dome was visibly dirty with dried drip marks all over itā¦
Managers nowhere to be seen or too busy on their phones, having a chat or doing irrelevant duties around the restaurant..
Food was average, like their service, nothing special or to high standards like you would expectā¦ specially for a 12,5% service chargeā¦to top this.. a plate was chipped
I have had better food and service in a McDonaldsā¦
Great concept but very poor delivery, donāt recommend and wonāt be coming back.
Extrimely disappointed
This night was the worst night i had experienced in the restaurant in my life. The service was very poor the food was not good as you expected in a restaurant with high ratings, they mixed up our order and when we asked for manager he came he was so rude and not understanding at all and he went so far that he said you can make your way out
