The hotel's design and overall appearance were less impressive in person than in the promotional images. During my two-night stay, I encountered several issues. On the first night, the shower handle broke, rendering it unusable. I promptly reported the problem to reception, who confirmed the damage but initially offered no immediate solution. Over the course of an hour, during which I made several trips down to the lobby and endured long waits only to be told that no other rooms were available, I was forced to shower at a nearby gym. It was not until the following day—and after further insistence—that I was finally moved to another room. Despite my efforts to seek compensation for the inconvenience through booking.com and direct communication with the hotel, they have been unresponsive to acknowledging the severity of not having a functioning bathroom. I do not recommend this hotel. Instead, consider staying at the Beverly Laurel Motel, which is a bit further away but provides a much better experience.
Be the first to ReplySonder cancelled on us last minute and left us with nowhere to go
My room was cancelled 3 days before flying into LA due to “unplanned maintenance”. Such an awful position to be put in. I received a generic message regarding a discount at another Sonder elsewhere in LA but no details. Be very careful with this chain.

If I could review less than the first option which is terrible, I would. The Sonder Hotel organization of hotels was highly recommended to me by a friend who travels as much as my husband and I do, staying all over the world, mostly for work. This has by far been the WORST experience in all of the thirty years we have traveled together. Expedia shares the blame - too. The only option to book is with Expedia or Air BnB, we went with Expedia, not really knowing about the Air BnB option. We are now in our room, checked in about two hours ago and besides the room being beyond bare bones, we have settled and would like to watch something on the television. We cannot get past the screen that requests a check out date. No matter how hard were try - unplugging everything several times, turning on and off again and again we cannot get past that screen. We're tired. We've traveled all day. There is no phone in the room to call downstairs for help and if you call the Sonder number you are put on and endless hold. Even they cannot connect with the front desk. I could go downstairs - but why?!?!?!?! Insult to injury the password to get online is abetterwaytostay. NOT!
Be the first to ReplyDouble booked and left stranded
I arrived to the hotel around 6:20- exhausted after a long day of travel. When I arrived I was told along with another gentleman that we didn’t actually have a room. Apparently they had a new booking system and it double booked. The front desk woman was completely unsympathetic and told us we she booked a room for us in Santa Monica- 40 minutes away with traffic. Why she didn’t think to call me during the day when I could’ve made a switch and found a room she left me stranded. I will NEVER stay here.
Be the first to ReplyJUST a room, not an experience, and there' no one around to hear you scream...
If the DIY hotel experience is a trend, it's a bad one! In my opinion, the only reason to stay here is if you're going to a show at the Troubadour or another nearby establishment, or maybe visiting Pride Parade or Beverly Hills. But even then, I wouldn't stay more than a day or two. Room was tiny, but clean and neat. I do recommend valet parking since overnight parking in BH is outrageous. It's around $30. One place charged $75 a night! Also, you never, ever want to park in a residential area, tempting though it may be. Nearly all LA neighborhoods make you have a "resident's" permit to park. They can and WILL tow. I hate this new "let's see how many staff members we can get rid of and let the guests serve themselves" attitude many hotels have gotten. Sonder seems to be perfecting it. At the Terrace, you are on your own. They have stations in at least two places where you can walk down and get extra towels, soap, etc. Fill up your own stuff . Bare bones in the amenities department, all around. No elevator, no microwaves, no ice machine, crappy coffee maker. How WILL you heat up that leftover Thai food? You won't. Probably because they want you to shell out 40 bucks for a pizza in their overpriced restaurant. Filtered water only available in two places. No pitchers in room to keep you from having to trek back and forth for water. There is a tiny little refrigerator that wouldn't be caught dead in a dorm room. Freezer can hold two burritos, but since there's no way to heat them up... I suggest that if you travel by car you do yourself a favor, bring along an electric hotplate, or one of those travel kettles. Hell, bring your own microwave if you have a small one. Maybe a multi-pot. Ladies, there is virtually no place to put your makeup, jewelry, and accessories. Room is tiny, bathroom is tinier. There's no tub where you can use those expensive spa products you bought in Beverly Hills. No comfy chairs, just a rickety table and some kind of uncomfortable bamboo chair that hurt my back. Coffee maker was a faux Keurig that did not work well. Real Keurigs are bad enough, faux ones really suck. Again, if you love coffee and don't want to have to trek down to Bristol Farms when you want a cup of joe, bring your own water heating source and coffee rig. (don't forget the coffee!) If you paid less than $150 for your room- it's a deal, especially if you like walking around in toney neighborhoods. For l-2 nights. Longer than that and I would have been much more annoyed at the lack of stuff that even Motel 6's give you. However, if you think of this as camping and outfit yourself accordingly, it could work.
Be the first to ReplyThey say you can't go home again---not true. I love this hotel property so much.
I've stayed at this hotel for 35+ years and was really concerned that it had been sold and things had changed. I must say that things have changed but it's still wonderful and retains it's charm. I was so happy there is still 24/7 staff at the front desk. They are professional and knowledgeable and ready to help in any way and always greet you with a smile. Cafe Amici is still on the property and we had dinner there one evening. I can't say enough about how delicious the meal was and the service was impeccable. This hotel property remains my home away from home in L.A. I can't wait to go back. Thank you Sonder.

Great location. Friendly and helpful desk staff. However, I was extremely disappointed that there were no housekeeping services. I don't care if the bed gets made or towels replaced. I DO want the trash to be removed. No one stepped foot in my room for my entire stay. They did not empty the trash, or even check to see if I needed/wanted anything. There is no phone in room, no clock, and no regular television - only Roku. I am not a big TV watcher, but I do like to see the local morning news for weather and traffic information. Despite the location and staff, I will not stay there again.

There was dirt and dried leaves in the floor and dirt in the shower. Very weak water pressure, I asked someone to help fix is and then the bathroom floor was filled with dirty footprints. And the water pressure improved somewhat but still was very weak.
Be the first to ReplyTo be totally avoided. Low quality/price
The place is good but it is a shabby pension. The room is minimal, it does not reach 10 m2. The plastic sheets. Bathroom with damages, plugs on the floor. To clean the room they charge a $35 per day supplement. If you go to Los Angeles I recommend renting a car, parking for two hours in Hollywood, taking a walk and heading out to the national parks (sequoia; death valley).

The location is great and we loved that the rooms surround the tranquil courtyard. The rooms are on the smaller side (think European size) but was just right for our 1 night stay. The bed was a delight…we slept great! We return for a bit longer stay next month. The attached restaurant is fantastic!
Be the first to ReplyGreat location!
The hotel has a great location and clean cozy rooms! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The area is very walkable since it’s in the perfect spot between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Getting around in ride share apps was easy and low cost.

Just spent 5 nights at The Sonder (Beverly Terrace). Excellent location between West Hollywood and Beverly Hills - so much within walking distance - The Troubadour, restaurants, bars, groceries, coffee. Also had a great, late dinner one night at the cozy restaurant in the hotel. Lovely courtyard full of plants and plenty of seating. Read some questionable reviews before our stay and almost reconsidered- so glad we didn’t! Is the building brand new? No. But it’s charming and well kept. Carpets had just been cleaned in common areas. My friend and I had separate rooms and both were perfectly spotless. The bed was so comfortable and full of pillows. Had plenty of clean towels. Room was quiet, nothing woke me at point other than my alarm! Roku is a welcome tv treat. Front desk folks were all friendly and helpful (shoutout Hailey - you rock!) Will happily stay here next time because on top of everything, was a great deal!

The property is absolutely beautiful and so close to Rodeo Dr and West Hollywood for restaurants and shopping. Guinevere is an absolute delight and super helpful at the Front Desk. Will definitely be returning if I am in the Beverly Hills area again.

Everything you need for a short or long term stay. We really enjoyed the location and proximity to everything! Only downside was the lack of free parking :( but overall such a great stay with Sonder Beverly Terrace!
Be the first to ReplyLovely stay at The Beverly Terrace
Lovely stay at the Beverly terrace! Its a small charming old building, nice and clean. Me and my sister stayed in The one bedroom suite #20. The location is perfect! Tons of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel staffs are very nice & friendly.
Be the first to ReplyA gem in West Hollywood
Love this property and the whitewashed garden courtyard. Great linens and adjoining Italian Cafe Amici. This is a gem! The location is perfect for people who like to walk - walk to MELROSE or Beverly Hills
Be the first to ReplyI loved Sonder Beverly Terrace!!
I was soooo happy with our pick to stay at Sonder Beverly Terrace. The location was perfect, and the rooftop was incredible. It was better than I expected and the service at the front desk was great. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyBeware the Noise
Perfectly suitable and clean (though small) room in a fantastic location. People at front desk are lovely. However, the noise was unbearable! I live in NYC and am used to city noise, but my room faced the restaurant courtyard and the walls are paper thin. Live and recorded music, clapping, talking until late. They provided a set of earplugs and a white noise machine in the room (which did not help at all) with a note that said it gets noisy - if I had known that ahead of time, it would have been a dealbreaker. It never occurred to me to ask if there would be a guitarist with a speaker playing outside my door. I think this is something that should have been disclosed ahead of time. I've stayed at Sonder before in other cities and loved them, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. It's back to hotels and airbnb for me.
Be the first to ReplyWe loved it 👍
That is not a normal hotel - it’s more a apartment house. You have a nice room and rest you help yourself. In this area you find close to the hotel view breakfast and dinner place’s. We stayed 4night and it’s worked out wonderful.

Great front desk staff day and night. Rooftop view is sweet. It’s about a half a mile from the golden triangle. Wallys is a spot that should not be missed. Wine dinner and great people watching. Head to dodgers stadium for a daytime tour.
