Quite good food and service
We were a party of 7 with a reservation at 8 PM. On arrival we were seated right away. Service by Peary P was outstanding. We shared 8 dishes and all were really good. The kitchen was fast and we easily finished our meal in the 90 minutes allocated.
Be the first to ReplySo good
I went to this place on a Saturday night and the wait time was 45 minutes for a party of four. The ambiance was nice but they tried to cram as many tables as they could into a small space. The service was excellent. We had a really nice, attentive server. The food was delicious but the portion sizes were a bit small for four people. We all left satisfied but not full, which was a good thing.
Be the first to ReplyThai tradition with NYC charm 🍜🌆
What a great spot! Soothr was a combination of traditional Thai food and NYC charm. The menu was great with all the usual Thai favourites. We shared a number of courses across prawn, duck green curry, pork noddles, spring rolls and the steamed buns. Services was really good and was mega quick… recommend you book as they have queues right down the street. They also have Singha beer so you can wash everything down with a cold Thai beer! The cocktail menu was also very good and they were able to modify these to make cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute excellent
We enjoyed this place so much last year we came back for a second try. Duck green curry, Stewed Beef and Roasted Vegetable Masamun Curry, dumplings all great…..in fact it’s all good. It’s popular and crowded so book as early as you can. Not to be missed.

Our visit to Soothr was truly remarkable, as my friends and I had an exceptional dining experience. The opportunity to savor Thai cuisine prepared to Michelin standards, coupled with the attentive service provided by our server, left a profound impression on me. It's safe to say that I've developed a deep affection for this restaurant. I am eagerly looking forward to returning here on numerous occasions in the future! If you're seeking an authentic Thai culinary adventure, I highly recommend giving Soothr a try!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent small bites!
We ordered 3 Small Bites, 2 Entrees, and a noodle dish. The 3 Small Bites -- Hoi Johr, Moo Dang Puff, and Soothr Jeeb dumplings -- were by far the best. The meats inside the dumplings seemed to be carefully marinated and were very tasty. The two entrees -- Koong Karee (sauteed shrimps) and Pla Tod (fried whole fish) -- were good but did not stand out to me, although one of my companions really loved the sauteed shrimps. The skin of the fried fish was very crispy and was supposed to be the best part. I liked the crispy skin but would have preferred to have a more flavorful sauce. The noodle dish, Beef Pad Si-iw, was good and on par with the same dish from other good Thai restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibes, tasty Thai!
One of the best Thai restaurants in the city! The place is always packed, service is amazing, the waiters/waitresses are stylishly dressed, and food is delicious! The seafood tom yum noodles is a must - the broth is so good, packed with noodles and various seafood. We also ordered Chicken Khao Soi and Om Gai Pad - both very tasty. Definitely be wary of thai spice because it can be very spicy. Also got the morning glory in chili garlic sauce and it was so good we ordered another one!
Be the first to ReplyOne of Ny's best restaurants
Excellent in any aspect! One of Ny's best restaurants. Food is light and well balanced. Everybody is extremely kind.
Be the first to ReplyBetter than Thai Villa
We liked the Thai food here more than the tourist Thai Villa. It’s more flavorful and authentic. Not much ambience because it’s too dark, hence 4 stars only; and one of their curry dish had combined coconut milk with cream that was not typical nor as authentic. The rest of the appetizers and entrees we ordered were delicious. Would definitely recommend and return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Thai!
Oh gosh the food was delicious here! I got the Chicken Ki-Mao noodles and asked for it mild. I also got the rivers topaz to drink, but I didn't like it at all. I also tried the rose quartz and all that jade though and they were great! Our server was so nice and helpful. The restaurant itself is very small/tightly packed and low lighting which I really enjoyed. They are closed from 4-5 to prep for the dinner. I definitely recommend making a reservation because it was packed! You also get a 1.5 hour limit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to eat and a must visit for New York City!!
Absolutely amazing place, should get more than 5*. Cannot stress how good this place is. I went with a group of friends recently and have not stopped thinking about the food. We ordered the Duck Green curry, Prawn curry and Duck rolls amongst other dishes and it all was amazing. We have already another booking! The service was great with very friendly staff, however make sure to secure a reservation if possible as the walk in line can get up to 1:30 as it is that popular! This restaurant should have hundreds of reviews with how popular it is. I highly recommend a trip down to the East Village to visit this fantastic place.
Be the first to ReplyFunky & great food
Funky & Great food - excellent food and fantastic cocltails - definitely make a reservation - even at lunch they stays packed - in a neighborhood with many Thai restaurants and I’ve tried em all this one stands out as the best and by a wide margin- it is cramped
Be the first to ReplyTerrible menu/very tight
We walked in and they tried to put us at a table where we couldn’t even fit. So they put us “outside” (also cramped) with a heat lamp, however, the space was also the pick up location for take out and the window was always open so it was noisy and we were cold. We asked for tea and the waiter said they did not have any hot water that they could use. That’s worrisome. The menu had mostly pork and shellfish dishes. If you’re a vegetarian, you have 3 choices. I don’t know how they received a Michelin rating. The food wasn’t anything special.
Be the first to ReplyFood is fantastic, vibe is fun
Place was buzzing when we arrived - every seat filled. Definitely need a reservation. Staff was extremely friendly - every single one seemed to welcome us on the way in and thank us on the way out. The cocktail assortment is creative. The food was so yummy - our only complaint was that everything came out at once and since there were four of us sharing, that was a lot at the same time. Would have loved to see it paced a little bit so we could appreciate the dishes a bit more. We enjoyed the Tom Yum Seafood hot pot, Krapow Ka Moo, Ba Mii Pu, Masamun roasted vegetable trio (my personal favorite) and crab fried rice.
Be the first to Reply3rd Time in a Year and Still Worthy
I’m confused how this restaurant doesn’t have more reviews, and I’m shocked that this was my 3rd visit here in a year from out of town and I forgot to write reviews prior, either way it was on our list of restaurants to return to on this trip. First recommended to us by a friend from NYC, last year. We tried to make a reservation using RESY but the only times available were 530 and 945. That told us they were going to be busy and took our chances getting a table. We arrived and put our name/number in for a table for 3, and we’re told 30-45min. That was perfectly ok, but I had a hunch it would be shorter. We got as far as the corner and we received our text. Barely 2 minutes. When we walked up, the hostess explained that we had an hour and 15min. Awesome, it was already clear that this place was busy, the fact that we got a table was more than enough. Now having been here two orevious times(sitting in the main dining room and the last time out front) I was blown away at how far back it went. We finally got to our seats, surrounded by two bigger parties on either side, it was safe to say it was gonna be liv my. The newest change was that they’re menus were accessible by scanning a QR code. A very common practice at many restaurants. After sitting down, I set my timer as to be mindful of the timeframe. We scanned over the menu, and our server came up, I immediately asked what they were out of as to set our expectations, it happened to be an item one of us wanted, but that’s ok, the menu has so many other wonderful options to choose from. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers, the chicken and dumplings, both of which were amazing. I only deter the Branzino, and admittedly I completely confused it with something else, so imagine my surprise when this opened up fish was placed in front of me. Not that I didn’t want it, but I took a few bites and was met with fish bones. Personally, the fish was delicious and I would’ve devoured it, but I’m not a huge fan of having to worry about fish bones, again the fish was amazing, personal preference aside. Luckily my fiancé didn’t hesitate to trade, he had ordered one of the beef noodle soups which I was familiar with so it was a win win all around. Our server was awesome and friendly. We had ordered a few drinks after and our hostess came to the table letting us know that we were at the 70yo nite mark. Perfect because we were finished. We got the check and left cash for meal and tip and headed out. I was still amazed at how busy it was and rightly so. First night of Fall, great weather, why not go out and enjoy NYC nightlife?!?. I can honestly say that we WILL be back on our next adventure up. Definitely worth the wait. Deserving of its accolades. And don’t let the negative reviews steer you, those are written by people who don’t know what real dining is. Or flavor for that matter.
Be the first to ReplyA real Bangkok experience in NYC!
Excellent experience at Soothr, reminded us of our many visits to Bangkok. The food was outstanding, duck noodles are a must, and the service was very friendly and engaging. We will definitely return on our next visit to NYC.
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE SERVICE
Came here for a birthday celebration yesterday. The food was average, but the service was terribly wrong. I do not normally write bad reviews, considering that I also worked in the food service industry and I normally try to understand BUT the experience yesterday was NOT any kind of "miscommunication", as stated by the Owner's response on Google Review. We arrived at the establishment at 2 PM with a CAKE BOX. (Common sense; there's a cake in a cake box.) If it's the store policy not to allow any outside food, I would understand if staff had told us from the start when they saw the CAKE BOX and when I asked if the staff could store CAKE in the fridge, that the establishment does not allow outside food. We saw reviews where other people were allowed to bring cakes to the restaurant to celebrate birthdays so, I don't know if this was an updated policy that wasn't communicated thoroughly with every staff or just plain discrimination towards a specific group of people that dine in. In addition, I understand that it's a busy restaurant and all, but I think this place needs to work on giving time for the customers to eat and not rushing them to finish eating. MANNERS; a huge part that the staff should work on. Although we were disrupted by the terrible service and all, we still politely stated our thank you and goodbye on our way out, but we were ignored. Very disappointing and disrespectful experience!
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
TERRIBLE service which demolished our dining experience. Could not stand the SASSY attitude shown to my party by the (1) hostess and a (2) waiter who thought he was boss but was fortunately shut up by some of the wiser members of staff. The waiter repeatedly spoke to us in a condescending tone. Maybe we didn’t look NYC rich… Service was rushed. Cutlery was taken away whilst we were still dining! The restaurant proudly proclaimed that they were expecting some 350 diners that night. This results in a hussle unlike any I’ve seen as a diner - anywhere in the world! There are many many excellent Thai restaurants in NYC and most don’t expect you to swallow your food! Ambiance: Failing grade here. No sign of air conditioning. Small, dingy tables. Almost no lighting. Crazy loud music, impossible to talk to the person seated next to you. Our party of 8 was initially made to sit separately. Kids/teens on on one table and us adults on another in a separate section of the restaurant. When another table that seated 4 guests opened up next to us, we requested to have our kids brought closer to us so we could dine together as a family. The restaurant’s first line of support (remember the condescending waiter ?) refused to help us. It took calling the owner/manager to help get the kids relocated. This is NOT the way you treat your guests. Our server/waitress was polite and the friendly soul in an otherwise unfriendly atmosphere. She was unfortunately marching to the beat set by her manager. FOOD: above average and tasty, bold flavors as all Thai food is expected to be. However… It wasn’t unique or exceptional. I’ve had the same food of similar quality and preparation techniques in dozens of Thai restaurants across the USA. Personally I’m very surprised that this restaurant made the Michelin guide. In my opinion this place needs to hone their customer orientation skills before being admitted into the lofty Michelin echelon.
Be the first to ReplyGreat authentic Thai food
Great food. All the flavors were pleasing as well as being authentically Thai. Staff was friendly and prompt. The place was packed, not sure why more people haven’t reviewed it. Lots of outside seating, too! Fun and lively atmosphere. Will definitely go again, 👍🏻👍🏻
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic and masterfully balanced
Wow! Holy Cow! The best! The balance of flavors was perfect and left all four of us in a state of bliss. My buddy who goes to Thailand often said the meal was authentic and delightful. Thank You!!!
Be the first to ReplyMichelin, I think you missed
Three of us went to Soothr for dinner tonight and would rate the experience as less than satisfying. This restaurant is lauded as one of the top Thai restaurants in the NYC and is probably the worst Thai experience I have had since living in the city for the past 6 years. All three of us are Thai food lovers and found this one to be far off the mark. I will separate the food from the experience, but both leave something to be desired. Experience: Our reservation was at 6 PM. Once all members of our party arrived we were seated in the covered back patio and told we would be limited to 90 minutes. This would be no issue since we were done with appetizers, entrees and desert in 39 minutes from when we were sat. The restaurant was small, but there were a TON of tables crammed in. We placed our order with some help from the server and were told food would come as soon as it was ready. Within two minutes of our appetizer order being placed our dumplings and beef salad arrived. Moments after that our entrees appeared. While eating, the wait staff came and asked if they could take a chair from the table that clearly. had a jacket and bag on it. They seemed more focused on hustling us along than providing good service. Food: For three of us the server recommended that we order two appetizers and two entrees. For our appetizers we ordered the Hot Johr dumplings and the Yum Nuer beef salad. Both were fine, if not lacked a little flavor. For our entrees we ordered the Ba Mii Pu (Dry crab noodles) and the famous Koong Karee sautéed shrimp. The Ba Mii Pu was incredibly dry and lacked any flavor. It came with a broth on the side, but proved tough to share despite telling our server we were sharing. Koong Karee was tasty, but the shrimp were covered in sauce and had tails (which could not be seen). We were not provided with any knives and this made the eating experience a bit challenging. To give it one more chance we finished with the Mango Sticky Rice. This was fine, but if a Thai restaurant messes this up they likely have bigger challenges. Conclusion: We had all been craving Thai food and desperately wanted to enjoy this popular spot. If the meal was not so rushed and the restaurant so cramped the mediocre food likely would not have stood out as much. I would be willing to try this place again, but it would need to be a significantly different experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not as special as we expected
Decent food and good cocktails. The ambiance is not special however, and the food not very elaborate. Pleasant and helpful staff. Our experience was also spoiled by the level of noise which basically prevented us from having a conversation for the whole meal.
Be the first to ReplyA Crowd Pleaser
Back again, this time with two others. Between the four of us, we tried many of the dishes on the menu: duck rolls, roasted eggplant salad, Yum Nuer, jeeb dumplings, tom yum seafood hot pot, duck noodles, Koong Karee, si-kong pad ped, spicy braised beef pad krapow, stewed beep and roasted vegetable masamun, jasmine rice, and other dishes. All were good to very good. There was not a complaint among the four of us and every person said they would return. Definitely a crowd pleaser. The restaurant is usually packed. This is not a spot for the Covid fearing, though they do check your vaccination status at the door. You have your table for 90 minutes. Prices are very reasonable. Service is quick and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyThe Food is Excellent
The Thai cuisine here is inventive and excellent. They got the spice mix right in every dish. They have an inventive and fun cocktail menu and an affordable wine list. Very hip and busy place, a little loud. Beware that they set a time limit and kick you out when you have sat at your table too long.

I have been in Thailand several times, and this restaurant is just perfect! The quality of the food is spectacular. It’s not expensive, and everybody working there is friendly. We loved it, and will go back every time we visit NYC. Also it’s easy to get to.
