One of my favorite restaurants near the Champs-Elysees.
I make a point of visiting Sormani whenever I return to Paris. During a visit to Paris a couple of years ago I was determined to find a nice restaurant that wasn't a tourist trap. Sormani was a fantastic find and they were able to accommodate me with a table on short notice. The staff were clearly trained well and refined. The chefs are also highly skilled in choosing complementary ingredients for each dish, presenting them in an artful display, and making the meal incredibly delicious. This combined with the tasty wine, professional service, and beautiful decor make Sormani a must-visit restaurant.

Wine card is very good with a large section of the best Italian wines. Location is great, very close to Arc de Triumph.

I really wanted to be blown away by Le Sormani, but honestly, I was just disappointed at the end. We started with the amuse bouche which was pretty good, well layered--not the best amuse bouche in the world, but it was good.As for the dishes, I ordered the fish carpaccio/tartare. It came beautifully with edible flowers, specs of sauce, and radishes. It didn't come with any overpowering sauce and I liked how this dish really stood on its own as the raw ingredients. I do wish there was something more to tie the dish together, the radishes were a little offsetting, but overall, it was good. As for entrees, we ordered a linguine con vongole topped with mushrooms, the lobster and risotto, and one other dish I can't remember because I'm writing this a month too late. Honestly, linguine con vongole is one of my favorite dishes, but this really wasn't as great as I was expecting. The mushrooms really took away from the dish. As for the lobster and risotto, it was good, but I wasn't floored. The rice was well flavored, but anyone can make a risotto with saffron. I did like that it was a drier risotto as opposed to a heavy, creamy risotto. The lobster was alright, but after having the lobster pasta from L'Atelier a few nights previously, this lobster truly did not compare.Overall, they use high quality ingredients and they have good concepts. I was hoping to be blown away by this little charming, tucked away, Italian restaurant, but it fell a little flat.
