Great food and atmosphere
I’m always looking for something really good and not on the strip. My research lead me to Sparrow & Wolf. I made a reservation for 1 which wound up being a bar seat which was perfect. Upon walking in a wanted to love this place. It’s a relatively small place, lively atmosphere, casual feel, interesting dishes. When I sat down I almost made up my mind this would be 5/5 based on initial impressions and the menu. It definitely didn’t feel like “Vegas” more so an up and coming area on a major city like the West Loop in Chicago. Which was a great change of pace from the mega strip hotels and celebrity chef restaurants. I was greeted immediately by Drew behind the bar. Great attitude and full of information and recommendations which I really appreciated. I started with a cocktail. I initially had the Spring Mountain Sour in mind but then I saw special cocktail on the specials menu. I ordered that, unfortunately all the sage syrup had been used up so back to the Sour. It was a good cocktail. I noticed everything being made behind the bar was good technique and fresh ingredients. One thing that happened next…I was asked if indented ice water or sparkling. I went with sparkling. I took a drink and noticed something. If you’ve ever had a wine that was “corked” that musty smell, you’ll never forget what it’s like. That’s what the water smelled and tasted like. I had to mention it, and was given a new glass with sparkling water, since it may have been the glass or how it was cleaned. Unfortunately same odor. I switched to ice water. I asked and was given recommendations for food. I was advised the items were mostly small plates and took that into account. I started with the Bahn Cuon with duck. When it eventually came it was very good. I didn’t look at the time but it was probably 25-30 minutes from when I ordered to when it came. At one point I was told it was being finished and wound be right out and it was probably 5-7 minutes after that. I asked for a wine recommendation with it that I enjoyed. Next I ordered the beef tartar and also put in an order for the secreto pork as my main. Both of these items were very good. The only problem was again after a decent amount of time the pork came out. No beef tartar. I started on the pork and the about 1-2 minutes later the beef tartar came out. I was a little frustrated at this point after the length of time on the first item and then the next 2 coming out of order and basically at the same time. I received another wine recommendation which I enjoyed. I think I observed during the service hiccups that same of the servers did notice the problems and weren’t happy about it. I did finish with the chocolate torte which again was very good. At the end, it was a very good restaurant and I would definitely put on the list to go back again. The food was great there were just some timing issues and the sparkling water situation was odd. I did get comped on glass of wine because the issues which I greatly appreciated. From conversations I had while there the restart recently received some very good reviews which were significantly increasing its popularity.
Be the first to ReplyPopular and pricey, highly worth it at Sparrow and Wolf.
Never disappoints. Eclectic menu items that have deep flavors. Try oxtail hummus as a starter, outstanding. Octopus sukiyaki was next and excellent. Fire roasted rack of lamb is excellent. Like most restaurants, serving sizes were less than previous visits, almost small plate is what we ordered which was enough for 3 plus dessert. Specials are announced when you are seated. Call ahead for reservations, highly popular for table or bar service.
Be the first to ReplyA unique dining experience and well worth leaving the strip for
This restaurant was recommended by locals and has had prominent write-ups. It is not too far off the strip in Chinatown and is only a $9 Uber ride away. It is hidden in a nondescript mall, but once you enter and find yourself standing with 12 others despite reservations, you understand its popularity. It is not a large place. We were amazed at the level of service provided from the very start when the waiter addressed us by name. He was attentive all evening long with helpful descriptions and suggestions on what to order. It was obvious he really cared about what was being offered on the menu. He would check in on us frequently, but we never felt pressured or rushed. The menu and cocktails are eclectic to say the least. I love restaurants where you can honestly say you have never had a single item on the menu served that way before! It has a combination of small and large plates, so be sure to ask what is to share. We started with the roasted eggplant dip and beet salad and moved on to rack of lamb and pork secreto (think Iberian ham). It was all very rich and heavily spiced in an interesting way. Be sure to check on the level of spiciness if that is an issue for you. The cocktails were unusual and creative. You will definitely need some guidance on the ingredients. This was one of the best meals we had in our entire week in Las Vegas. It came to about $95 per person with tip.
Be the first to ReplyAWESOME SPOT - away from the Strip
Best spot in Vegas! I am almost scared to write about them because we don't want to miss out on getting a reservation the next time we go. A group of us were in town for a week to watch a Raiders game and for a golf tournament. We had visited here a year ago and loved it and wanted to see if our recollection was correct. It was so good, we cancelled another night's reservation and went here twice during our 6 night stay in town. The food is absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic - warm, personal and fun! The second night we actually sat at the bar as it was packed (as usual) and had a great time chatting/bantering with the bar staff for 2+ hours. The managers was great (his name escapes me); we also had the amazing servers both times: Tito - bartender Ashley - head bartender Rig - server/waiter Jess - server/waiter The only downside is that Jess is an Eagles fan and joined one of our friends is singing their praise each time she stopped by... Small price to pay for the great atmosphere and food. This will always be our must visit when we go to Vegas. It may be our only restaurant we visit no matter how many days we stay. It is a bit off the strip but worth the Uber ride!
Be the first to ReplyYou will need extreme patience to get through this!
The food is tasty and well thought out but the time between courses is brutal! I also feel that the automatic gratuity does not allow you to show your frustration at how slow the service is. I normally tip well(20-30%) but would have liked an option to show my frustration.

Small restaurant with great food and service. I was dining by myself and decided to eat at the bar. The bartenders were great and very helpful. I would highly recommend sitting at the bar.

We had an amazing experience and Sparrow + Wolf, Monday July 17th, 2023. We were doing some research before our trip and came across this find and made a reservation. We were a party of 4, made some notes as to what we were celebrating in the reservation notes which they paid attention to. It's off the main Vegas strip in China town and worth going off the beaten path for. The ambiance and food is spectacular. Once seated we were greeted with warmth and had a discussion about the special occasion we were celebrating. Our dessert also addressed the congratulations on the plate. Any staff member that came to our table exuded the same vibe, they knew what they were doing, they liked what they were doing and knew how to look after you, even if they were just filling up your water glass, professionalism + love showed through. We paid attention to what was suggested as to menu items and went with all the suggestions and a few of our own choices. There is an explosion of happiness in every mouthful in any dish, and you feel exactly what the name means - the delicateness of the sparrow + the more powerful wolf. There is a softness in every dish with the contrasting explosion of flavor. The food was so good all 4 of us had a hard time ranking the dishes...we had 4 appetizer dishes, 4 main courses and one dessert - all shared. We left nothing on our plates, we enjoyed and savored every bite. Cocktails were another hit - we loved the names, and one of them has a $3 donation towards the world central kitchen fund (until Sept 30th) which was a hit with us! I wish I remembered everybody's names so I could mention them in this review. We left just before sunset and there is great photo opportunity in the front of the restaurant, their sign lights up and there's an arch and a bench and back drops signs - we got some great memorable pictures, and food pics during dinner! Family being together celebrating/tourists in Vegas! This place gets 5 star rating. It's spectacular. I feel as if I was somewhere very special and Chef and kitchen staff - you all have amazing talent. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food - Great Service - Great Cocktails!
We were a party of four on a girls trip in Vegas celebrating a birthday. Let me just say that it is well worth the trip off the Strip in search of this restaurant. It’s located in a modest shopping center near Chinatown but in this case appearances are definitely deceiving. Everything was fantastic! We started with the Japanese milk bread and tuna tartare which were divine. We also had a number of, and highly recommend, the wood-fired grill dishes including the harrissa octopus and green goddess broccolini. The honey pork secreto was exceptional. We weren’t super hungry but when I return, I’ll definitely try the Chef’s menu. The service was terrific. Everyone is friendly and all the servers help out on the tables so you are never waiting for water or a cocktail. The hostess was very understanding (no attitude) that we did not want to sit at the table in the line of the kitchen. I think our server’s name was Felicia and she was truly fantastic. Last, it sounds a bit juvenile but at our waiter’s urging, I tried the daily cocktail which comes in the form of a slushee but she cautioned that they can catch up on you. The cocktail was delicious and she was right! If I lived in Las Vegas, this restaurant would definitely be in my regular rotation.
Be the first to ReplyTo many good restaurants in Vegas to eat here.
I did not have a good meal here. We ordered 8 small portion tapas style dishes and 7 of them were cold. When the waitress asked how our meals were I told her about them being cold. The assistant mngr came over and said that they did not have heat lamps to keep the food hot and I told her that was not my problem and regardless of there inability to buy heat lamps I expected my food to be at least warm if not hot. The mngr then can over to explain that if they made the food hot the moister would be cooked out and it would be dry. I had to call B.S. on this explanation. They finally relinquished and offered to take one of the dishes off of the bill. Overall this was a horrible dinning experience. Cold food, Argumentive wait staff, crazy loud music on top of an already noisy ambiance. I can not give them a good rating.

A local recommended this restaurant. We got there early (before a show) and ate at bar. Bartenders were friendly and knowledgable. Food was great!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, service, then a letdown at the end
We (2 couples) visited Sparrow + Wolf for the first time, very excited thanks to the multiple raving reviews and recommendations by friends. We picked the tasting menu + wine pairings - we did not order anything beyond the standard tasting menu + wine pairing, except for one of the 4 people in our party opting to not eat meat, so a couple of items on the standard tasting menu were replaced, for this one person, with fish items. I don't know if this added to the standard price, I assume it did for our bill ending up unexpectedly high, but I don't know as we do not have a detailed bill - which is one of the major issues we have with this restaurant - more later, but I want to first address the good things - and then list some of the not-so-good things. Let's go in order. The good: 1. Nicely located off the strip, easily accessible, and finding parking was easy and convenient. Since it rarely rains in Las Vegas, our finding a parking spot at a bit of a walking stretch from the entrance is not an issue, as we need to work on our step counts anyway. 2. The decorations, outfitting, appointments both from aesthetics and artistic standpoint were of high quality/class. 3. The food was excellent, the wine pairings were mostly excellent, too - except one red that felt a bit too light and sub par. 4. The service was personal, Nick is a great entertainer. The not-so-good: 1. The bill was $1,027 (for a party of 4 people - again ordering NOTHING extra, but the tasting menu + wine pairings - not sure if swapping a couple of meat items w/ fish dish substitutions could have been adding anything extra). We did split that up between the 2 couples and paid $513.50 each. 2. This bill force-included the tip, but we don't even know how much tip was. We would have tipped well on our own, by choice, perhaps not over 20%, but for this total, even 15% is a good sum I think - we just don't have any idea what we tipped as we were not given a choice. It is customary to auto-charge 18% tip for parties of 6 people or more, but (1) we were only 4; and (2) we have no idea what was charged. 3. We don't know that as we never saw an itemized bill either. This is a big problem, even for including this for reimbursement or tax purposes. In summary, good food, good service, good ambience, perhaps unreasonably expensive for what it was, but I may have paid this much anyway - if the price is a bit out of proportion for what it was, I say it is not by much - and that really is not our problem, because the experience was overall truly superb. Unfortunately much of that was ruined by the way the evening ended and how the bill was handled. The fact we did not see or have a detailed bill AND the forced-choice re: tipping (and not even allowed to know what we are tipping) I consider borderline shady or even illegal practice. Overall, we had a wonderful evening, 1st class experience, thanks to the company, Nick's truly engaging entertainment, and the overall high quality of everything from the ambience to the food quality, to the service. A unique experience. It would have been a strong 5 star overall rating if the bill wasn't handled this way. It is staggeringly expensive, but again, that is not my main problem, but how the bill was handled: no choice on tip and no detailed bill.
Be the first to ReplyDivine yet reasonably priced
We went to Sparrow + Wolf for a late dinner and were so glad that we picked the tasting menu. The 7-course menu was a work of art at a very reasonable price, especially the fire roasted duck breast - simply divine. Service was attentive and all staff were friendly. We also loved the casual yet chic interior. The location is off-stripe but just a few mins away, definitely a must-try and we highly recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyGood cuisine and service
Dined here with friends for a special occasion while on vacation in Las Vegas. Had a reservation but the table ran a bit late. We were offered free sparkly rose wine. The waiter was good and quick. He remained on top of his game till the end. The food was cooked perfectly. It could been served a bit warmer however. Anyway I enjoyed the creativity of the dishes served. Wine was on the expensive side and the options are $50 or $125 plus. I still recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous experience
We had to be worked in for a very late reservation but they did a great job accommodating us. Here are the things that make this restaurant a five star experience! 1. Unusual but excellent cuisine. No boring food on the menu. We had the ravioli, the oxtail hummus and the shrimp toast. All fabulous. 2. Host or owner came over to greet us! 3. It was my birthday and they served the four of us a free glass of champagne….nice touch 4. Free birthday dessert was also a nice touch 5. Server, hostess, and staff were all over the top friendly This is a hidden gem but I would return in a heartbeat! Well done Sparrow and Wolf, well done!
Be the first to ReplyCreative Fresh Fusion
It’s the kind of fresh and creative fusion that I try to find. The wine pairings were good and off the beaten track but small pours. I left full and happy. The ambiance is closer to pub than fine dining but the food, presentation and explanations were top notch. They swapped out the foie gras for me; so, I can’t comment on that. I would have liked a third oyster but otherwise, I have nothing remotely bad to say. Would I compare it to one of the worlds top restaurant? Not yet but I would happily pay the same price again and see what they serve next.
Be the first to ReplyTop 10 restaurant in glitz ElVeeeeee!
First and foremost. S+W is very easy to find and not in a dodgy neighborhood. Weird that a couple of reviews here below make those comments. Unless you spend all your time on Rodeo Drive or 5th Avenue, this neighborhood is very normal mini-mall Southwest stuff. There are two other popular restaurants right next to S+W and the parking is easy but bustling. Finding S+W is also really easy. It is on the greatest food streets in America, Spring Mountain Road. Very clearly marked, with a very colorful mural that wraps around the building. For anyone making the trek from the strip, it's a direct turn off Las Vegas Blvd. Literally one turn from one of the most famous streets in America. Now, on to the what maters, the restaurant, food and service! S+W is one of my favorite spots

From start to finish the food and experience was spectacular. Upon arrival it seams less than expected but once you sit down and the service begins you will be amazed from beginning to end. Of all my Vegas experiences this would have to have been the best food hands down. 5 star isn’t enough! Thank you
Be the first to ReplyExceptional food with a unique touch
Ate dinner at Sparrow + Wolf and had an exceptional meal. We have eaten there several times in the past and each has been a delightful treat. We started with their oysters chilled with Aji Amarillo Hot Sauce. They were succulent and the Aji Amarillo Hot Sauce just right- not overpowering but adding the perfect zing. Next, we enjoyed their oysters charcoal grilled basted in miso butter with bacon breadcrumbs. Just perfect! That combination was the best hot oysters we have had- much better than the more typical oysters Rockefeller had elsewhere. We followed those with pan roasted Hudson Valley Foie Gras that was superb! We also had the coal fired Spanish Octopus in a Chickpea ‘stew’ with chili garlic crunch that was a taste treat. The grilled oysters were so good that we ordered another round of them. Finally, to top it off we enjoyed a special desert of Japanese Milkbread with vanilla ice cream and berry coulis. Outstanding. Unfortunately, the food was sooo inviting, I forgot to take pictures of everything except the Foie Gras and the Octopus.

We had high expectations for our dinner here. We ordered a-la cart and not the tasting menu. The food was mostly pretty good, oysters were Good, oxtail hummus (ok) has a tiny bit of oxtail, Hamachi (good), daily special Foie Gras (EXCELLENT!). Now this is where it went wrong. We still had 2 more items from the grill yet to arrive, but after about 1.5 hours we cancelled the remaining order and left. To be fair the place was very busy, but we did not see our waiter much at all after the appetizers. We do not know if there was a mix-up or this place is really SLOW. Would we go back, we are not sure at this point.
Be the first to ReplyWish we could have eaten more!
After some Googling for ‘best restaurants in vegas’ this came out top and this was repeatedly up there.
The food is Asian/European fusion and the wine selection is excellent.
We ordered way too much and wish we could have eaten more of what we ordered but thoroughly enjoyed the small plate style eating nonetheless.
The service was excellent. And Matt was more happy to give us local recommendations for the next night when we had no dinner booking.
Will definitely visit again when back in vegas.
Hard to find, outstanding menu eclectic
More of a bar than restaurant, but the kitchen delivers! In spite of the odd music, four dishes were ordered and 3 of 4 were winners! Skip the oxtail ravioli, very tasteless and undercooked. The brocclini, the cod and then the pork with foie gras was spicy and highly seasoned, outstanding dish.

We were a little concerned about the neighborhood and exterior of Sparrow and Wolf, but we were very pleased with their modern yet comfy interior. And the food was amazing! We decided not to afford the Chef’s Tasting ($135 each), however we were really happy with each of the four dishes we shared - Artichoke Salad, Oxtail Raviolis, Sourdough Bread, and Vietnamese Caramelized Pork Ribs. Very complex and pleasing flavors in every bite. Our server was a little hard to find at times and very slow to bring our check, but he was pleasant and very helpful and our drinks were quickly refilled by other staff.
Be the first to ReplySomewhat disappointing
We visited for dinner on a Sunday night. Place is small (maybe 15 tables?) . Have a menu that is mostly small plates meant for sharing. Food was very good, service slow. Cocktails were unusual but pretty good. Felt that waitress upsold us on a few menu choices that were not necessary. Biggest issue was place was just too noisy, Could barely talk to table companions due to noise level.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal of the year
We were a party of 6 women with 4 teenage girls in tow. And we ate like utter queens. The steak tartar, the oxtail raviolis, the gnocchi, the brussel sprouts, the pork ribs, the lamb, the halibut. We ate until we almost expired. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We sat for over 2 hours, never rushed. Pampered and fed and water glasses filled and when it was time to go, each of the girls hugged our server. It was that kind of night.
Be the first to ReplyOverbearing server
Overbearing server hurt our impression. The food was pretty good and the menu creative. Drink service is VERY slow but to me the bigger issue was a server who seemed to live in our faces. A consistent up sell and asked about 100 times “is everything perfect”. No, I can’t enjoy my meal because you are trying to sell more stuff.
