Terrible brunch service Strega north end
I made a reservation for Strega north end brunch 3 weeks ago for my co workers birthday. We were a party of 6. Five out of our six has arrived at 1:30pm. I arrived at 1:45pm. They would not sit us until we were all there. The hostess at Strega had us waiting outside for over an hour & 15 mins. They say groups that arrived after us before us. This place seems like a place that only takes care of regulars & caters to them. A group of 3 has a reservation for 1:45pm and they were also on time and waited over an hour to be seated. We ended up leaving because waiting over an hour for a reservation is just ridiculous! I will never go back to Strega north end. If the hostess had communicated the actual wait time we could’ve got apps somewhere else and came back. But she kept telling us a table was paying there tab and she would sit us every time we asked. She was very dismissive! Don’t give them your money it’s not worth it.

Nice setting and decor. Don't like the tv with sports on in the bar in what is meant to be a good restaurant. The bathrooms needed repairs to locks and units. Service was excellent and very attentive from our waiter to the staff clearing. Table comfy. Wine good. Tomato salad very bland even with so many things on my plate. Steak came on a huge amount of polenta and sauce. This would have been better dressed to the side of the steak and the sauce in a small jug. Polenta didn't go with the main. Steak cooked perfectly. Prawn/Ariabata pasta. Didn't have the prawns. Very dry had to ask for more sauce as there was a lot of pasta and little sauce.

Ambiance and feel of an Italian restaurant but the food was missing the mark. Service could have tried. The staff was nice but had to be reminded for drinks and food requests.

There are so many good restaurants in the North End and we selected Strega because of the reviews. But alas, the reviews certainly are not accurate. Service was mediocre at best, server was disengaged. No management walked around or stopped by to see how our service and food were. Menu was good but food was uninspiring from the octopus to the pasta to the steak to the fish. Nick needs to take more interest and until then, take a pass.

Went there for the first time for our 25th wedding anniversary. I made reservations and arrived 20 minutes early and there was no references made to us or asked why we were there so there went any chance of special treatment for our anniversary. I ordered a Kettle One martini and the middle aged foreign waiter with dark hair with no charisma said we don’t have a full liquor license and said he would bring me a martini that they were allowed to sell which was a brand called North End Vodka. They didn’t serve the martini in a proper martini glass and served it in what looked like a sorbet glass. The drink was mediocre. When the waiter returned and asked us what we wanted he said that we will need to order both the appetizers and entrees at the same time because he was only giving us 90 minutes at the table and he needed it free for the rush…. At that point I became frustrated and almost started to laugh thinking this was a joke. We ordered our appetizers and entrees. The meatball and ricotta was really good. The friend calamari was horrible, rubbery, and undercooked. The ravioli was good but the pesto pasta was bland and cold. We had a window seat with a clear view of the host station located on the sidewalk on Hanover street. The host station was more like a host and waiter break room. While there I watched the waiter and hosts hang out and joke around on the sidewalk and as new people arrived it was as if they were being interrupted on there breaks. And the part that was most bizarre was that they were ordering takeout from other restaurants and eating it right at the host station on the sidewalk as hundreds of people were walking by. They were also eating name brand bagged chips or nuts… Now I’m not sure about Boston health codes with waiters and hosts eating food at their work stations but if I was the owner of the place I would make sure my staff was properly fed and not eating Subways or Lays potato chips at the host station as guests check in for reservation and also as 1/2 of Boston is walking by my restaurant. That would be the first and last time I go there.

Amazing traditional Italian food. Loved everything we ate. Restaurant is loud so not good for a quiet couple dinner but excellent vibe to go hangout and enjoy delicious authentic food.

The bathroom was disgustingly dirty! They would not let us order an appetizer first.. we had to give the whole order. They brought an antipasto (very average) then the meal before the appetizer was done We ordered two filet dinners. One cooked to perfection, one very overcooked. We also ordered a bottle of wine. They brought us the check before we were finished. They never asked if we wanted anything else... dessert? after dinner drinks?? We weren't there an hour before they brought us the check. We will not be back1!

This is the first one star review I've ever written. The food was good but not over the top. The service was inattentive and the music was painfully loud. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Even though there was just two of us, could not carry on a conversation. My wife had the seafood fettuccine and I had the veal marsala. Both were tender and tasty. Hardly saw the waiter. He gave us a perfunctory check in but not until we were almost finished but that was all. I don't care if the food was Michelin 3 star. We'll never go back.

Nothing like expected and highly disappointing. Got seated as soon as we walked in, and water glasses were still wet, the server was nice enough to replace it with another wet one when he flipped the glasses over to pour water. Leaned on the table while quickly and quietly pointing and ruffling through the drink menu. The music did not help. My boyfriend and I for our anniversary were not expecting club music to be blaring while trying to eat a “romantic dinner”. We ordered the meatball to start and it was good, under seasoned but good. For our next course we ordered the truffle and seafood pasta and of course the Parmesan wheel “that’s a more”. Truffle pasta lacked truffle flavor and salt, shrimp was cooked and tasted good, scallops were bland. The table-side pasta was lack luster, which was disappointing as it’s the reason we came here, after our server asked multiple servers to get things for his cart he finally started to make the pasta, slopping the already pre-made pasta in the wheel and adding the alcohol that he lit on fire after( we saw another server do it, and they took the time to melt some of the cheese with the hot alcohol and then mix the pasta). The server played our food on another table and then brought it to us. We then never saw our server after this moment until we were walking out the door. We then saw another table as I spoke before get the pasta wheel. It looked great until I noticed the same silverware and utensils from our pasta were being used again for another table after 10-15 minutes of sitting on the cart. Didn’t seem very clean to me especially coming from a hospitality background. We then asked for a box for our left over pasta, and then we waited and waited for our server to either ask if we wanted desserts or even come talk to us to see if we wanted a check. Our table was completely clear of food and plates, and 5 servers walked around for 20 minutes and never came to say anything either. We watched the servers, walk around the dining room on their phones, get pizza from next door, chew there fingernails, and hang out at the bar. We waited 20MINUTES! Until my boyfriend had enough and walked up to the bar to ask for the check, our server still no where to be found. The servers we asked quickly got our check and apologized. As we were walking outside we saw our server walk in the front door coming from down the street. Not worth the high price points at all, and not worthy of the hype.

Full bar, fine food, and good service. I felt a bit like I was in Italy. Our server was quick yet unobtrusive. He got everything right: our order, the good attitude, everything. The pizza I got was not your typical round one; it was smaller and rectangular. There were spaced toppings of little bits of mashed potato with a small piece of tenderloin and a little slice of hot pepper on top. Absolutely fantastic flavour combination. The Bellini prosecco was excellent with hints of a few different flavours running through it. The meal was magical at our table by the window, watching the people drive and walk by on their way to a wedding down the street. If you want to be immersed in the North End culture, this is a good place to do it.
