My first postpartum meal and this was such a let down.
This is what I got for $23, including delivery fee and top. Sloppily made, rice falling apart. Small and expensive. Flavors were nothing special. Brutal let down when you are craving sushi for 9 months.
Be the first to Replywhat a disappointment! I've enjoyed coming to Sushi Seki
what a disappointment! I've enjoyed coming to Sushi Seki for many years and it seems success has gone to Seki's head. Ice cold, even after I moved to the back of the restaurant. Very unpleasant; skyrocketing prices and only decent sushi. Everyone was running around like chickens without heads. Service horrendous. Waited 10 minutes for water and replacement of my ice cold tempura shrimp roll. VERY SAD!
Be the first to ReplyDelivery is the worst.
And good luck getting them to answer their phone. So many options and not worth the wait (if the food ever gets delivered).

My very first time having authentic real sushi and wow! First of all let's get the one thing that comes to GP's head when thinking about sushi and that is 1. That it should and will taste like fish and 2. That sushi can only be eating with chopsticks. BOTH are lies, trust me. Each piece in this Omakase was done so gently and paying close attention to detail that by the time it made it into my mouth it was a very delicious rich and striking rush of flavors that would just get better and better. Like a wave each one was better and it helped enhance the flavor of the previous one. Quiet, intimate and fun spot to visit on a nice chill date night where you can have a very good conversation along with some INCREDIBLE food and great company, do yourself a favor and don't listen to the bad reviews this right here is a spot you WANT to visit. I can't wait to go back again soon and be delighted by Jackie, he took care of us the whole night and made sure it was special from beginning to end

Sugar Fish is where you should be. Service is 2 stars here and the sushi is 1.5 stars.

This is my second time here and the sushi does not disappoint. The best sushi I have ever had and would highly recommend to anyone staying in the upper east side.

Had dinner here before a show, quiet spot away from tourists with excellent Serivce and food.

Three of us came in for an earlyish dinner and were delighted with the outcome. Interesting twist on the hijiki salad. One of us ordered the Sashimi special and was quite pleased. Two of us just ordered sushi and rolls a la carte. We're not interested in adulterating high quality fish with dressings, etc. The fish was super fresh and delicious. Let's face it - these days good fish commands high prices. Highly recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyKind of average sushi.
Why is the fish pre-sliced? It shows the place is not a high quality sushi restaurant. Only customers who sit at the sushi counter and really know sushi will even know this. Their mainly gaijin customers don't know any better, perhaps? There are many high quality sushi places in the city. For the money, I recommend other places
Be the first to ReplyIs this place super Duper expensive? Yes, yes it is.
Was it worth it? When my business was paying it was! If I was paying for myself though, I don't think it was worth two people spending over $200 with tip. It was very delicious but at the end of the day the top-tier quality sushi doesn't matter as much to me as price, but that's just me. The quality was fabulous. My favorite things were the salmon with tomato on top, which melted in your mouth, and a few of the chefs favorites. Overall a wonderful experience and our waiter was fabulous. He brought things out slowly, told us what they were and if we were supposed to dip in soy sauce or not. So much yum!
Be the first to ReplyBest omakase I've ever had.
Service was amazing as well. The scallop hand roll, seared salmon tomatoe, seared toro and tuna crispy rice were favorites.
Be the first to ReplyOh I love love their selection of sushi, my new favorite
Oh I love love their selection of sushi, my new favorite has become the spicy scallop sushi. The spicy tuna is totally better than Nobu. Just fyi. I also loved the rest of the tempuras I tried, along with their gyoza. We had a bottle of Sancerre which was crispy and lovely. Only issue was my friend has been coming to Seki for the past 15 years, and they didn't update their system so it was a little delayed in trying to rsvp, but we did get a spot- outside although we wanted to sit inside. Aside from that, the sushi and maki are amazing. Even the miso soup. I definitely will come again to do an omakase, because those are truly my desire! Definitely try one of these locations out if you love good sushi.

I live very close to this location and finally made it in for dinner with some friends and was EXTREMELY happy with my experience. First off I highly recommend making a reservation as we saw multiple groups of people show up without one and we're not able to be seated. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. We started off with some miso soup and the maguro avocado which was SO delicious. For dinner I got the sushi special and my friend got the Sushi Seki special. Every piece of fish was super fresh and delicious and my friend who got the Sushi Seki special really enjoyed all of the fun toppings. Prices are very much worth the quality of food you're getting. Will definitely be back!!!
Be the first to ReplyDo not order delivery from them.
They cancel after 90 minutes and then claim it was the driver who cancelled.
Be the first to ReplyMy vote for meat sushi on UES, edging out sushi of gari.
Spicy scallop roll is tops. While I love the spicy tuna, plain tuna is the way to go. Eggplant appetizer is my favorite dish on menu.

If you are doing takeout, for the price Hatsuhana is hands-down 10 times better. Would not recommend this place for takeout considering the prices. in is probably a different experience. Hatsuhana was close so I tried them but it doesn't compare. Presentation, flavor and everything
Be the first to ReplyI can appreciate the tie to classic Japanese menu styling.
Cannot believe the absolutely deplorable quality of fish. I spit out the tekka maki (because I ordered takeout and could thankfully do this at home). It makes sense that they have so many " spicy " things on their menu so they can hide where they don't use the freshest fish.

Horrendous!!!! Have been a fan of Sushi Seki Chelsea for many years. I ordered delivery from their UES location and to say that we were disappointed is not to say anything. The rolls were tiny and tasteless, sushi pieces were also tiny and the fish used was from last year! Needless to say, the price was high which would've been fine if not such a disgusting quality.Stay away!
Be the first to ReplyWas so disappointed.
Haven't been here in a very long time. Usually love it. The food was awful-some of the worst sushi I have ever had. On top of it the staff was awful. Dinner was $1200 after 2 hours the manager came over and said I need the table your time is up. We ordered in sushi if Gari tonight and the the sushi was 10 times better. They really need to address it and try to change things around. I don't think they care at all though.
Be the first to Reply0 stars honestly.
waited over an hour and a half once I got to the restaurant to pick it up. They were extremely busy and clearly were rushing as I got the wrong order and my sushi was wet and mushy. I had to walk back because they did not pick up their phones and the manager Brtha was extremely rude and said she will not do anything for it. I have been vomiting since eating it and am calling the health department as well.
Be the first to ReplyThe best thing about sushi is no doubt eating it.
At Seki, one of the more popular sushi spots on the Upper East side, you don't have the opportunity to eat the sushi.Supposedly the uni and tuna are fresh, but we wouldn't know. Made a reservation here for 830, and waited almost 2 hours for our food. Really wish that this location lived up to the hype of the other locations, but ultimately, this place is full because they coast off of a 10+ year old reputation and take advantage of people willing to wait. Go elsewhere if you actually want your food to come, there are some great hotdog carts that give this place a run for its money because they actually give you your food.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible!! We waited for over an hour and the Uber guy
Horrible!! We waited for over an hour and the Uber guy waited for 20min right outside of the restaurant for picking up food. They blamed on the Uber guy for not checking if the food was ready or not. After I asked if they packed the food together that we ordered and how long the food was sitting there (hot udon and raw sushi), then she said they are very very busy so it took over an hour to prepare the food. There was no apology whatsoever and kept on saying they are very busy, but I'm a customer too! Just say sorry it took too long- do not blame on delivery guy who was patiently checking and waiting for the food outside. Not acceptable!!!
