Sushi Suite 1001 New York Reviews from The Last Year

Always delicious, always can get a good table even when crowded somehow and all the classics!
An absolute amazing experience with a lovely intimate
An absolute amazing experience with a lovely intimate setting. Food - Outstanding! Service - Amazing! Ambiance - Wonderful!
Everything was absolutely wonderful.
Can't say enough nice things about the service and food. A really cool, intimate space. Great spot for date night!
went here for a date night with my boyfriend! fun concept
went here for a date night with my boyfriend! fun concept of getting a keycard to enter the hotel room, where you are met with a small sushi bar for 4 people and a bar/waiting area. sushi was good, but we very much disliked the ambiance and service: food: -mostly simple pieces of fish + small dishes + 1 handroll. we enjoyed most of the pieces, however we both felt that some of the pieces tasted too similar and the selection of fish that day was a bit repetitive and unmemorable -winners of the night: uni and wagyu truffle -we ate a little before our dinner, so left feeling pretty full. honestly the amount of pieces for the price was good for nyc service and ambiance: -this was my biggest let down of the night. overall felt like service was awkward and a bit cold: when we walked in to the room, we were silently directed to the bar without much info about when reservation would be ready. upon entering the bar the bartender didn't really greet us so we just sat waiting for further instruction. it felt like the assumed we knew where to go or what to do as soon as we stepped in (bar had a lot of relics of breaking bad which was fun to see though) there was a nice older gentleman who frequently refilled our water which we appreciated. the most SURPRISING part of the night was that our chef was pretty unfriendly and made us uncomfortable, which was unusual because the chefs are super lively and warm at other omakases. when my bf expressed that this was the best piece of tuna he ever had, the chef looked at him very blankly and scoffed "really. hmph...", which we found weird. when we asked him if he had any sushi recommendations in asia he just stared and said "i haven't been back in 10 years" and said nothing else. at the end of our meal we wanted to tip, but was met with a very awkward response from not only the chef but the bartender. it almost felt like we were doing something wrong and the response to our request from staff was slow. we left enjoying the fish but laughing about how awkward the service was at some moments. honestly wouldn't come here again only because of our experience with service and our chef. there are different chefs so you might not get the guy we had. however if you don't care much about service and enjoy simple pieces of fish in a modern speakeasy style place, this place might be your style!
Not worth it.
If you want a real review, read this one and avoid spending your hard earned $300+ dollars (not including drinks or tip) on this place. I've got the receipts to prove it. The concept is actually REALLY cool. And I'm sure you've seen some Instagram posts about this place. I was excited to go and invited a date to go with me. When I walked in, the first thing I was told was "have a seat", so I sat at the sushi bar and the guy says "wrong seat, out there", and points to the back patio. Look, in most cases this is fine, but we're paying for what's essentially an experience, are we not? And why tf would I assume you're referring to a seat on the back patio? Anyways, that started the night off with weird vibes. To the persons' credit, he did come out and apologize for being rude and used some excuse about another party cancelling. Once I sat down, my date was a little late, so I said it would be fine if we started without her. The other couple didn't show up either, so it was just me. I tried to make light of the situation, trying to talk to the chef, but man, he was in a MOOD. It was so awkward. I honestly felt so uncomfortable because nobody in the room had any semblance of social awareness to offer any sort of reasonably good service. I even gave the chef shots of sake and made sure he had drinks on me. My date eventually arrived and admittedly, we were behind (barely, i had already started and she caught up to me quickly. Still, he really pressured us into eating quickly. I told him "hey man, feel free to keep putting the sushi on her plate (my date was getting full) and we'll eat when we can and be out of here on time" and he responds "well if you weren't late none of this would be a problem". I literally wanted to yell at him, like man, I just said we'll be out of here by the allotted time, why do you have to have such a bad attitude? Anyways, the quality of the sushi isn't even that great. It's pretty much the same as any $60-70 omakase in NYC and I would highly recommend doing that, because honestly it's kind of nice when the chef isn't awkwardly standing there with nothing else to do but listen to your convo, brush off your questions and act all moody. Save your $ and do something else. My goal was to impress my date this night with a special experience and we got the opposite. When we left we actually laughed about how ridiculous that was. I was pretty upset and reached out to Bucket Listers about this and the resolution they offered was for us to pay for another experience and come back and they'd offer us A ROUND of sake. What a joke. "Pay us $300 and we'll give you 2 shots of sake for your trouble". No thank you. I already gave you $500+ and the rude chef some of my sake i bought from you. It's an insulting resolution. They truly don't care about their customers (photo for proof). Oh also they had messed up with miscommunication to myself about the allotted time and blamed sushi suite for that. As the customer, I don't care who on your end messed up, shifting blame just reflects poorly on you. lol, looks like someone else had the same chef and same crummy experience with him. i can attest to that. we also asked him if he's been back to asia in the context of the food scene (he was korean) and he basically grunted at us. Do better.
Amazing hiding gem in the city! The counter is super
Amazing hiding gem in the city! The counter is super intimate 4 seat omakase counter where you can experience your own private dining experience or make friends with the other folks joining you. Drinks are amazing and there is a partial outdoor terrace that has an amazing view of the Empire State Building. Drinks are spectacular and their terrace is a mezcal themed lounge with yummy mezcal drinks. During dinner, Chef Hancho was our chef and the food was beyond wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about every piece of fish. He sent us shots of sake! There is also a vinyl record player you can pick records to listen to while you eat. If you want to impress your friends or any folks visiting NYC, this is definitely on the list of places to go!
Food was fine, however the chef was incredibly unfriendly
Food was fine, however the chef was incredibly unfriendly and made our experience extremely awkward. The idea of the hotel suite experience is cute and thought maybe would encourage a more intimate omakase experience but the chef looked miserable and unhappy, and we felt incredibly rushed to leave immediately. We wanted to finish off the sake but was told we have 5 minutes before being rushed out the door. Plenty of other omakase places in the city with equally / better fish and much better overall experience.
Hold up and wait a minute.
.. how have I not written a review for this place yet? I've been coming here every year for the last three or four years when I'm in New York for the U.S. Open. It's a total treat because of the unique experience that is offered. First of all, you enter and "check in" at a hotel. Once you get your room, key, you head up the elevator to your room. Upon entering your sushi suite, you have an opportunity to head out to the balcony for some drinks before your seating. they recently partnered with breaking bad, and will have new drinks inspired by the TV show. Once you've had a couple cocktails and taken some cute pictures, you'll have a seat at one of four at your private bar. If you need to, you can request the 5th seat but it's a bit tight. From there, let the chef take you on a journey for the ages for one hour. The fish is out of this world. The chef prepares a 15-17 course omakase meal depending on the fresh ingredients available. My favorite is always the chawanmushi when they happen to serve it and obviously the fatty toro and wagyu. A bonus is that they get their a5 wagyu certified from Japan. The chefs rotate between the sushi by bou restaurant and it's such a great concept to keep the chef, the bartenders, and the customers engaged. We always love coming here. Book in advance and enjoy!

This 17-Course Omakase was phenomenal! The sushi was created with elegance by Chef Ryan and this place absolutely deserves 5 stars!
This was an amazing experience, Mikey made me and my gf
This was an amazing experience, Mikey made me and my gf feel very comfortable and welcomed upon arrival. We got here early and enjoyed a cocktail at the outside bar where they had a few fun games and good music playing. The Omakase experience itself was next level. Ryan was simply amazing- he was good conversation and explained all the courses - very knowledgeable. The sake pairing was also quite lovely. Mikey played a song I requested which also made the night very personal and my gf absolutely enjoyed her experience and birthday ! The food was fresh and to watch Ryan do his thing was very nice once again! The couple next to us was also lovely and pleasant and we all became friends by the end of the night! I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to have an amazing omakase experience!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
