Sushi Suite 202 Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Perhaps being overly critical but when prepay is required
Perhaps being overly critical but when prepay is required for an expensive meal, it should live up to the expectation. While the experience was great from intimate speakeasy vibe to cocktails and presentation of nigiri, fish-to-rice ratio were inconsistent, which is glaringly obvious when they served back to back immediately. Otherwise, it is a great spot for a date night especially if cocktails are appreciated.

Our family decided to dine here as a family of six on New Year's Day and we're so glad that we did! It was such an intimate experience with a personal sushi chef. I loved that our chef Max was able to cater to our taste and favorites. Absolutely every bite we tasted was not only fresh but flavorful with unique toppings and light sauces that paired so nicely with each type of fish. The whole dinner was timed appropriately and by the end of the meal we were so full. We booked our reservation for 5 pm and was the first reservation of the evening. I loved this as it was quiet and no other customers were waiting before us. The whole experience was so personal and intimate. Our family was easily able to talk and have conversations and enjoy the evening as a party of 6. My parents truly enjoyed the experience here at sushi suite as they had never had an experience such as this. My family was shocked by the quality and freshness of the fish and the variety we were presented with. We got to try fish we've never had before and we were blown away. Our chef Max was amazing. From start to finish he explained everything so well. He engaged with our family in conversation and truly made it a personal experience. He asked for our preferences and presented each plate in a timely manner. He mentioned that each chef has flexibility in how they want to prepare their dishes and with what flavors they want to incorporate into each dish. I loved this concept because when customers return, if it's a different chef it would be a completely different experience. Towards the end of our meal the next set of customers came in and were seated at the bar. However, our family didn't feel rushed at all. We finished our meal and had the opportunity to sit in a side seating area to prepare to brave the Chicago winter cold once again. Thank you for an amazing experience and an amazing meal. It was truly one of the best sushi experiences we've experienced here in Chicago! We can't wait to dine here again!
Let's begin.
.. we just went there on 01/13/2024 and let me tell you something about us first. We love sushi, but we love GOOD sushi.. we are those type of people that don't mind paying the equivalent of a college tuition for food when it is the absolute best, you'll never ever see us at an all you can eat sushi because that is just the worst of this world. Now that you know how we think, let me tell you about this place (suite 202).. we met with two friends there for dinner. To begin with, the place is in a very old like never renovated hotel, and the room is somewhat nicely decorated but we didn't really go there for the statues or paintings on the walls. We went there for the food. When you think of place that is expensive and "exclusive" you think about being blown away, about being surprised or at the very least you think about coming out full. Unfortunately it wasn't the case, we have been to plenty of good sushi places.. and the nigiri pieces I have seen at 95% of the places we have been to, are twice as big as what they give you here, every time the chef put something on our plate we just looked at each other saying like... is this it? The chef has almost zero interaction with the six people sitting down in front of him, you basically have to initiate every single conversation and ask questions about the food if want to know exactly what you're eating. So you get the idea what you're going to be dealing with when you get here, our bill was over $1,000... not counting the tip, yeah you read that right! "Sushi for four" plus the sake pairings. I was thinking they should advertise with more detail and say that you will not get plenty of food... and don't get me wrong in not saying you should always eat like a pig and get 10 pounds of fish per person but at least something more substantial than what they give you. It may sound like a surprise for many of you reading this review but as soon as we walked out of there all four of us began talking about where to go eat!!! You shouldn't really come out of your dinner thinking where to go for dinner. But it is what it is. At the end of the night we all said that is was an experience, it was something new, but neither of us would like to come back.
Phenomenal sushi in a one of a kind setting.
Great for date nights. The chefs and bartenders are very informative and service is top notch! Will be back next time I'm in Chicago!

Ok let's start with I'm going against my own rules about leaving a bad review as I run 3 small businesses and know how it impacts potential clientele and every experience is different from on person to another however I never read reviews I just go and assess it myself but this right here is exactly that a rushed scam to deliver sup par service / food that should up of higher standards of which it was not have never went to an omakase where the duo chefs reiterated that the fish was delivered this morning which I know from my experience it was not but I see the trick in there trade let's makes the customer think it's really fresh but ultimately it was not, the whole experience was rushed as previously mentioned now that I have reviewed a couple of reviews you would think they listen and make changes but they continue to follow the same practices 2 yrs later so sad I just spent around $400 on myself as I ate alone and it had to come to this I was excited to try out another omakase and treat myself but all I did was disappoint myself as I should have trusted my instinct and Stick to sushi restaurants that have proven themselves worthy of spending that type of $ they're to many places here in Chicago alone that will beat this establishment by a mile from serving to transparency of which they lack unfortunately I will not be returning nor will I recommend it to any of my peers sad but the realty is we all work hard for our money button spend it in this fashion it's unacceptable period. Thanks for the experience that I didn't enjoy but was suppose too

We have been here 3 times now and the first time was a couple years ago. The 2nd time was OK but we are so glad we came back again. Third time's a charm!! We brought our friends here for a birthday dinner and everyone was so impressed by Chef Pong. The combination of flavors and the freshness of the fish was amazing. The bar staff is also very attentive and creative. We told the bartender what we like and he whipped up a delicious mezcal cocktail for me. The old fashioned is also very good here. We also love the ambience and cozy vibe. For our seating, we had the entire place to ourselves. If you're looking for a unique omakase experience, check out SushiSuite 202.

It was so hidden we got lost The first time my boyfriend brought me here I almost cried. He surprised me for my birthday ,.. I had NO IDEA where we were going then I opened the door Its hidden in @hotellincoln in Lincoln Park and is the world's first hotel suite-turned sushi bar concept!! The restaurant feels super welcoming & homey right when you walk in, not at all pretentious In fact, it's so intimate you feel like you're talking to friends. I even ended up meeting people who knew someone I worked with Bring your date , family or close friends when they visit or for dates & celebration's ______________________________________ OMAKASE highlights: They have 6 seats only so it's super intimate There are 17 courses for $140 per person (before tax) Part of the @sushibybou_ group and also in NYC & PHILLY (new as of October) Bookable on @opentable for 75 min sets, from 5-11pm Amazing Japanese cocktails to try like my Shiso Southside (must try) My favorite dishes from the Omakase were the tuna, fatty tuna, itoyoridai, mackerel, and anago eel. Note: the Omakase is chef-selected so Max the chef will tailor and create dishes on the spot based on what he thinks we would like I hope you get to celebrate and enjoy during this holiday Follow @biteswithbessy on Instagram for more spots like this
Amazing experience last night at Sushi Suite.
The food was really amazing as was the drink pairing. Chris and Juan are really exceptional at their job hosting and creating a great experience. We stayed for a few more cocktails, and we decided to reserve again the following week. The space is really novel and an awesome option for a small group dinner. Highly recommend the sushi, this spot, and Chris/Juan.

Amazing experience! Food was incredible and serving was above and beyond. Such a great unique spot for a special occasion or random Wednesday night! 11/10 recommend!
Sushi Suite is intimate, special, and just a rad experience.
We got a reservation for 4 and did a cocktail at the bar prior and the sake pairings during the tasting - it isn't cheap but we all agreed the experience was worth it. It was recommended by a friend and I've passed the rec along many times!

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
