WHEN: Sun @12:30pmI was walking along Sawtelle hoping to find a "cafe" I can sit and do a bit work. I saw a cute patio seating with as sign that reads: "PATIO BAR OPEN FOR DRINKS: No Food Purchase Necessary"I thought, PERFECT! And sat down. I was brought the drink menu and realized what they meant for "drinks" are their fine alcoholic options. Luckily on the last page is the non-alcoholic options, which I got:ICED MATCHA - $5Clearly made with the powdered kind and served over ice. Not sweet but quite refreshing.I clarified with the waitress if it was okay that I just order tea and work a bit, and if not I could leave. She said it was up to me and that she just doesn't have a to-go cup for my beverage like a cafe would. I said it was fine.I hung out for about 1.5 hours, and was given the bill when I finished my beverage. This patio seating was so lovely, I such a great time to myself. Sorry this review does not reflect any of their amazing looking foods. One of these days I shall dine here.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 1 year anniversary at [restaurant name]. From the pictures and the price, we had high expectations for the experience. Unfortunately, upon arriving, we were a bit disappointed to find that the atmosphere wasn't quite what we were expecting. However, the staff went above and beyond to make our evening special by providing a private corner and setting up candles, making it feel like we were in our own little bubble. The service we received was exceptional and I give it a 5-star rating. The food, unfortunately, did not live up to the same standards. While the chef's menu was enjoyable, it felt like it had been refrigerated and not necessarily fresh. We felt that the quality of the food did not match the level of service we received.Overall, it was a memorable evening and we appreciate the effort made by the staff to make it special. Despite some of the shortcomings in the food, I would still recommend this restaurant for the excellent service and unique dining experience.

Meh. I ordered a chirashi bowl and was so disappointed. Given the brand name (I love their ramen), I had high hopes but seriously Tsujita should stick to ramen and leave the sushi to other experts like sasabune. The ingredients didn't look or taste fresh. I'd not order again. Mr. Tsujita himself would be disappointed too if he tasted this.
Be the first to ReplyA quiet, sophisticated sushi restaurant if you are looking
A quiet, sophisticated sushi restaurant if you are looking for a more intimate and upscale dining experience at Sawtelle. This is one of the last remaining top end establishments in the neighbourhood (Nanbankan being the other) that veers towards more traditional Japanese than fusion cuisine. Pros: - seasonal menu- excellent quality of fish and food in general. Portions for the chirashi and bowls were reasonable for the price. - beautiful presentation - great service- quiet, relaxed dining atmosphere Cons:- expensive, particularly the Omakase options.- limited menu -fellow diners complained that the nigiri options were too small for the price points and felt we had to buy additional items to round out the meal
Be the first to ReplyI'll be dreaming of this restaurant for daaays.
Sure it's a bit pricey, and might not be the go-to sushi on regular days but if you're celebrating extra, then this is definitely worth the $$$.Food was beautifully presented, and it tastes as good and as fresh as it looks. Again, proof that Sawtelle restaurants rarely disappoint

If only I could give zero stars! I was a loyal customer for many years, always eating there at least once a week. But I learned sadly that loyalty is not rewarded. Management, unfortunately, cares far more about the bottom line than about its customers. That means arrogance, inconsideration, and a my-way-or-the-highway attitude on their part. Never again will I step foot there, and I wish them no good.
Be the first to ReplyWent in on Friday night, no wait.
Sat outside. We ordered two Charashi bowls and one Sushi combo. The miso soup was delicious. The plating of the sushi and sushi itself was fine. For $$$$ I expected something that would blow me away. I was surprised at how small the pieces were for the price. The Charashi boxes were ok, the fish and egg selections were also small. I also had the house sake Masu"box". The pour stopped at the top of the glass and did not pour into the box which is what I have been been familiar with in other sushi places. Maybe I have been doing it wrong? For over $125 a person, we were not full, and had to go eat after somewhere else. I was not impressed enough to come back. Luckily Sawtelle is full of amazing spots to grab something additional.

One of my favorite places in town and I would recommend to all sushi lovers! Great quality fish and service!
Be the first to ReplyI had a lunch omakase ($100), and it was really good.
The fish was fresh and well prepared. The appetizers were fun and delicious, and all the nigiri sushi was yummy. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was nice. The staff was friendly and professional.

Came there late afternoon and saw their $100 omakase lunch and went for it. Not disappointed at all. Great sake and the waitress was super nice. The chef made the food, but she's the one going over each and every dish. Love it.

This is a review for our takeout order (prepaid through Tock) for the Kaisendon and Sashimi Box. While both dishes tasted fine, I was very disappointed that the Sashimi box, which was advertised as the special chef's choice (for which the price was marked up) had nearly the same contents as the Kaisendon! The only difference was 2 extra pieces of tako, but the remainder of the box had the same sashimi (2 pieces each of white fish, scallop, salmon, tuna). Kaisendon actually also had tamego and roe as well. In addition, the sashimi box was packaged poorly - definitely did not eat with the eyes first and sorely unimpressed.Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but do not recommend the sashimi box. Save yourself the extra $$ and order the Kaisendon instead because you'll get almost the exact same meal at half the price.

We ordered from here one night through DoorDash (side note: Why does LA have the absolute best options for delivery?!) and it was AMAZING. If I ever have the chance to eat in person, I'm sure that it would be a 5 star experience. The fish was beautifully plated in a to-go container (lol) and the quality was top tier. Each piece melted in my mouth and the rice was fluffy. They didn't provide soy sauce, but they did provide fresh wasabi which is always appreciated.I learned that Tsujita is a chain which also does ramen, which I hope to try in the future!
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the Ramen Pop-up they host on Wednesdays
This review is for the Ramen Pop-up they host on Wednesdays at Sushi Tsujita. I don't know how they do it, but the Tsujita chain has continued to innovate ramen in LA, with various flavors and toppings unique to each location. The Sushi Tsujita ramen was no exception! This location provides a light, clear ramen broth with a choice of shio (salt), shoyu (soy), or miso flavor and to add spice or no spice. You can also add extra charsiu pork for additional cost. I ordered the spicy shio flavor - the soup was really light and flavorful. Usually I avoid drinking ramen broth since it's really unhealthy, but this soup is light enough that I could drink and not feel too guilty! The spice added some nice heat, and the pork was moist and soft. The noodles were cooked to perfection as expected - I'd say the thickness of their noodles are between the OG And Annex. After I wolfed down the ramen quickly, I ordered the affogato dessert. The dish was presented beautifully, with matcha and sake flavored ice cream and real matcha poured directly onto it at the table. The sake ice cream was especially yummy with a subtle hint of the sake flavor and a silky, smooth texture. I was sad to hear at the end of the meal that the pop up was ending soon! But they let me know they will have another event in May at Japan House LA in Hollywood. I'll be sure to try any new ramen from Tsujita - they never disappoint!

Came here for an omakase - expensive for what it was, but food was excellent, service was amazing, and the grilled cod is something I think about often, wistfully and fondly. Sushi was good, but fish could have been a little fresher. I think the omakase is generally going to be better than the a la carte, so perhaps something to consider!

Be the first to ReplyI ordered a delux bowl in DoorDash.
The bowl was their most expensive bowl. It tastes like shit. They don't event give you soy sauce. The fish is not fresh. The sushi rice is the most terrible sushi rice I have ever had. I will never order it and come to this terrible chef and terrible food
Be the first to ReplyIf you want a cheap good omakase, this is the place to go.
The omakase included 4 appetizers, 11 main entree items and one dessert. (02/28/22) The staff were professional and chefs were nice. The restaurant was clean and vaccine records is required. I would recommend the omakase.
Be the first to ReplySushi is good.
Service is good. But this spot isn't busy for a reason, there are better sushi options in LA. The fish is fresh but rice was basic- the rice tasted like something I could make at home. Not worth it for the high prices unfortunately
Be the first to ReplyI have to admit, I was surprised that Sushi Tsujita is not
I have to admit, I was surprised that Sushi Tsujita is not on the top lists of sushi places in LA. It is the most remarkable and reasonably priced. One reason is that this is not glam sushi (though those cuts were pretty amazing); this is very traditional Japanese food at the highest level with remarkable traditional recipes (lotus root puree on white fish with dashi jelly) and the first ingredients. This is the way food tastes in Japan at a very high level. I was stunned. This restaurant is dedicated to traditional Japanese food at its finest. And it is without fad and pretension. The ingredients are stunning, the artistry is unmatched. I will eat here for a year because I just want to take it in. What a wonderful place. Perfection at half the price of the "in" places. This is for those missing the grand subtle force of high Japanese food with no pointless fads or hipness. The best I have had here. And the service was WONDERFUL. Wow. So thoughtful, warm, precise, expert, and caring.
Be the first to ReplyPick-up: ordered bentos online to be COVID conscious.
They let me wait inside because I came before my order was ready. They checked my COVID vaccination and ID before I sat down. Then, they offered me some water or hot tea while I waited. Service was wonderful and staff were friendly. Food: The bentos were very appealing and came in a beautiful box. Lots of variety was included - shrimp, tamago, salmon, ikura, etc. soy sauce came in packets but the wasabi is located inside the box. Dinning: there's tables inside for indoor dinning, seats at the bar, and outdoor seating under a large chandelier. The interior of the shop is very appealing and photogenic, perfect for a nice date night. When looking for the shop at night, I usually just look for the chandelier. Parking: parking is the Hardest part. Try to find street parking wherever you can. I usually park in the street behind the restaurant. Time to test your parallel parking abilities! (There's some flat rate underground parking for nearby plazas)
Be the first to ReplyHow excellent! Everything was just so delicious.
The course meal was so thoughtful and considered. The ambiance perfect. I'd recommend highly.

EXCELLENT OMAKASE AND SERVICE After finding the COVID precautions at Kiriko to be absolutely unacceptable, we walked down the street and were fortunate to discover Sushi Tsujita. They had places at the Omakase bar with ample space between parties. The dishes were superb as was the service. We routinely dine at the finest sushi restaurants in Los Angeles and this restaurant was as good as or better than the best of them. We will definitely return.Thank you Kiriko for your poor safety causing us to find Sushi Tsujita.

Ordered takeout nigiri and Hokkaido kaisendon, and there were scales in the sushi. Takeout is not prepared by the head sushi chef, so keep that in mind as the quality will reflect.

I stopped by Sushi Tsujita for a quick lunch and was satisfied and pleased by the good service. We ordered the Chirashi Sushi, which are scattered pieces of sushi over rice with some toppings. Usually we dont expect top quality when it comes to Chirashi Sushi, but this was suprisingly good. It was prepared and given in a box, with very colorful and good presentation.I would recommend this place.
