I was sooo disappointed in the quality of sushi at this
I was sooo disappointed in the quality of sushi at this Michelins star restaurant. The rice and the fish did not mesh well. The rice was not sticking and was easily broken. Sorry, I would not come back again. Michelin reviewer should visit and re-evaluate ASAP. You would delist immediately.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the most expensive omakase for the worst quality!
This is the most expensive omakase for the worst quality! And I have gone up and down Japan and to Beverly Hills with Masuhitsa to Odo here jn NYC. The level of service is closed to nonexistent. $170 for 15 pieces of hard rice topped with fish. Nothing special. I could have gone to Whole Foods and gotten better quality fish and rice all for $30! This place made Sugarfish look so good. The only thing positive was the cleanliness of the place. $170 and done in one hour.
Be the first to ReplyWish I had read more recent reviews and not trusted old
Wish I had read more recent reviews and not trusted old ones so much. The sushi itself was pretty tasty, some pieces were maybe the best quality I've ever had. However, the presentation and preparation was nothing special and kind of lazy. I was done in 50 minutes doing the "unlimited" omakase and ate quite a lot, it just came out very quickly with not nearly as much thought or care into the delivery/dressing of each dish as I'm used to especially with a Michelin Star omakase. I felt very rushed out and could barely hear the limited introduction to each dish and if I ever asked him to repeat himself he seemed quite annoyed to be doing so.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Omakase Birthday dinner at the sushi bar.
We did the 16 piece set and it was more than enough, and really made for a memorable and special dinner. So fresh, incredible quality, and seasoned perfectly so that you didn't even need any soy sauce. Service was wonderful and they were so kind and attentive. Clean minimalist Japanese aesthetics, but it still exuded a warm welcoming environment. Stand outs included the Hokkaido Uni, Norwegian King salmon, Toro, Maguro, and Ikura. Honestly, it was all truly amazing, but next time we may ask to omit the squid (too chewy). Beautiful fruit presentation with a bday candle at the end, with an aromatic hojicha tea was a lovely way to end the lovely dinner. We just love Yasuda and can't wait to return again.
Be the first to ReplyHaven't been in a while until tonight.
Will not be coming back. This used to be one of the best. Tonight - overpriced and below average. 15 piece omakase served on 3 plates in 27 mins. Will not be going back for a long time. Care and quality has dropped significantly.
Be the first to ReplyEasily the worst sushi experience I've had in the city.
I literally have 0 clue how this place has a Michelin Star. I could find better sushi in any suburb of Manhattan ten times over.
Be the first to ReplyEasily the worst Michelin starred restaurant I've ever been
Easily the worst Michelin starred restaurant I've ever been to. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know and the price wasn't even that bad.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for sushi , no question.
I been most of the finest sushi places and this is one of my favorite place. Fresh sushi and good service. Upscale , Quite
Be the first to ReplyThe food, service, and ambiance were spectacular.
Make sure to reserve first. The uni was very good it's a must try.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for lunch today, made a reservation about 1 week
Came here for lunch today, made a reservation about 1 week ago. Overall was not hard to reserve. They opened the door at noon sharp and we were seated. I sat by the bar and ordered the 15 course omakase. The restaurant was really spacious and very well organized, it gave off a very clean vibe and the set up was perfect for both group dining and solo dining. The server was very nice, brought cleansing towels and introduced the menu. During the course of the meal, my water was always full bc they were always paying attention to refill it, which I really appreciated. The chef was very nice, he asked if we had food allergies and if we wanted to replace anything before starting the omakase. The food was of course amazing. You can tell the fish quality was very fresh and top notch. It tastes different than any random sushi place bc the fish was extra soft and juicy. Most courses already have soy sauce or some kind of sauce on it so did not even need to use soy sauce. Overall it came out to about $220 after tax/tip. I would say for a casual sushi meal, I likely would not choose this place and would go somewhere with more bang for your buck; but for a sushi lover, this was a unique and great experience. Would recommend this place for sure!
Be the first to ReplyService: 5/5 - The staff were kind and accommodating.
Hostess kindly showed me to my seat and was taken care of from the chef afterwards.Food: 3/5 - Would preface this that, this is in comparison with other Michelin starred omakases that food was on the underwhelming side. Pieces were standard with toro, uni, ikura, ebi, etc., but I was really looking for what makes the restaurant stand out whether it was style (Edomae, modern, or ...), specific preps, or pairings. Food is good, but maybe my standard changed from having other omakases from a variety of styles. Standard is the way I'd describe it.Price: 3/5 - There are SO many omakase options with different price ranges from $65 to $500 depending on what type of sushi or experience. Prices were fair since omakases typically sit on the pricier end, but I feel like I could've gotten the same experience at a sub-$100 omakase. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - The wood-esque of the restaurant and the warm lights definitely add to the traditional feel as if you're in Japan. Calm, warm, and overall loved this aspect. However, it was a bit awkward with the staff working behind us since there were other dinner guests that chose the dine-in option, not the omakase. I personally felt like as if I was sitting at a bar having a casual meal.
Be the first to ReplyYummy omakase for a reasonable price.
Honestly, not too sure why it has a Michelin Star. Nothing that special, no risks. If you are craving a classic omakase experience, I would come here, but I don't really see myself coming back.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible space and service.
Looks just as good as the food. Would definitely go again.
Be the first to ReplyBest sushi I've had.
Sat at the counter. It's authentic. I will go again when I'm in NYC
Be the first to ReplyThis sushi restaurant led by Michelin-star chef Mitsuru
This sushi restaurant led by Michelin-star chef Mitsuru Tamura has had many great reviews, and we definitely had to try! They offered a dining menu with appetizers, soups and salads, as well as an a la carte. We opted for the 15 piece omakase selected by the chef. As for the appetizers, we tried:1. Chilean Sea Bass This dish has the choice of grilled with teriyaki or salt, here we choose salt. The sea bass was tender with a mild sweetness that paired well with a hint of citrus. We enjoyed this dish as a started, and found it very flavourful. 2. Eggplant This dish was an eggplant dish in a teriyaki sauce that came cold. We found this unique, but didn't enjoy it as much. For the omakase dinner we were presented a selection of chef pieces ranging from different fish, shrimp and roe. Some pieces served: - Hotate- Sea bream - Blue fin tuna - Salmon (King + White) - Uni - Oyster - Saba - Etc. All the pieces were fresh and high-quality that some pieces melted in our mouths. We enjoyed the selection of pieces as we got to try many new and different pieces. One of our all time favourites was the Hokkaido Uni (sea urchin). This had the perfect Unami flavour and a buttery melt in your mouth texture. We even asked an extra order because it was soo good! Another piece that was very new for us was the pacific oyster. Although not our taste, it was a different experience. Overall, this is a great omakase spot for occasions or night outs. We were happy with the service, and would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyI have had a lot of Omakase experiences, and eaten at so
I have had a lot of Omakase experiences, and eaten at so many varieties of Sushi bars but I have a core memory from the Uni I ate here. Maybe it was a one time thing but it was hands down the best Uni I have had to date. The rest of the selection of Fish were good to decent. Service was underwhelming and not to the standards we were expecting but still enjoyed our time here.
Be the first to ReplyMaybe I had too high of expectations because I've heard
Maybe I had too high of expectations because I've heard really good things about yasuda for so many years. When I finally decided to try it, it was underwhelming to say the least. Perhaps my experience has been influenced after trying other omakases or maybe it isn't as good as it was before. There weren't any standout pieces and I can't remember which one was my favorite piece. The fish was fresh and it wasn't bad in any notion. However, for I'd rather go to some other establishments in the same price range.
Be the first to ReplyRUDE, RUDE and more RUDE.
Called to make a reservation, initally was told to call back within that 2 week range. when I called they said they had NO reservations at the time I wanted which was 7:00 pm but I can have 6 or 8 because they do 2 hour allowances. I relied the message to MY BOSS. Then he calls and guess what? Gets the reservation for 7:00. I called back to say "why did they do that" the manager was so extremely rude to me, kept saying, so what, so what after me telling him he made me look bad, just saying so what, so what and hung up the phone. I wouldn't eat here, if you paid me..... this rudeness was disturbing !!!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyMichelin one star, for real? OK, perhaps you want to go
Michelin one star, for real? OK, perhaps you want to go there because of this, but, my experience from my dinner last night at in Sushi Yasuda was 100% a disappointment. First of all, for Michelin one star, the service could be better. At least, the server should cut her laziness and not to serve the dish across the front of the customers on the opposite side of the table. We each ordered Omakase-15. We didn't expect the sushi comes out in three batches. The enjoyment of having Omakase is to have sushi introduced by the chef one by one so you can enjoy tasting the variety of fish. Talking about the fish (sashimi on top of the sushi rice), most the fish did not look top quality. Most were somewhat dry and not fresh. A few kinds of fish, including fatty tuna, did not taste uniformly soft and almost chewy in some part. The pickled ginger was also dry and sour. Other than substandard Omakase sushi and guess what, each cost $150 per set. Yes, the Omakase set was served on plates in three batches. The presentation is plain. Yes, other than sushi, there is nothing else included in this $150 charge. No basic miso soup, no complimentary salad, and no desert. The bottom line is, Sushi Yasuda does nor deserve Michelin title, both food and service are substandard. You are paying top notch price for an ordinary sushi joint quality. Definite not worth it.

We arrived at 11:30am (at that time, the hours posted were 11:30am-2pm) and there were 3-4 people waiting outside with reservations which soon grew to be 10-12 people. The door opened at 12:09pm(??) and we were told to wait on the side even though we were the 3rd to arrive. The food was just ok, for $50 sushi lunch pp to be consumed in less than 30 mins, I expected much better quality from the reviews and location. I did not spot a single Japanese patron inside and only one Chinese-American regular. The server was courteous and I liked that they give you Hojicha in the end. If you are familiar with truly authentic Japanese sushi, you can get so much better for less. We will not return.

Among the few true Japanese fares in town yet much approachable than others in terms of availability and price. You are allowed to order piecemeal is such a plus.
Be the first to ReplyGreat to be back for lunch! ย Hard to call a $140 lunch
Great to be back for lunch! ย Hard to call a $140 lunch omakase a deal, but it's a fantastic experience and you leave feeling satisfied!
Be the first to ReplySushi Yasuda is a top both sushi spot in NYC.
ย I recommend booking a spot at the omakase bar! ย The fish is fresh and the otoro just melted in your mouth...we ordered the 12 piece omakase for $100 and also the 3 piece sashimi for $24. ย Service is top-notch here, just as in Japan. ย Would come back here for a special occasion!

Almost walked right past this place without noticing its subtle entrance. Beautiful and simple interior and servie perfectly aligned with the tone of our pre-matinee lunch. No time for a proper omakase but we had their lunch meal with miso and seaweed salad. Everything was well cut and seasoned, definitely no need for any additional soy sauce. My one small quibble was that the seaweed on our roll was a bit soggy - so if you have a chance, sit at the sushi bar to watch the chefs do their magic as well as to get your food fast. Even if you're in a hurry, make time for the mixed mochi dessert- both the red bean and green tea flavours are among the best I've had.
Be the first to ReplyTime and time again Sushi Yasuda never fails.
They have Michelin star for a reason. I regret not having the chance to dine while Chef ย Yasuda was still there but the chefs there now are excellent. Whether you go with one of the omkases or go a la carte with your favorites you cannot go wrong with the quality here. My go to high end sushi place.
