Food/Drink: very yum! I especially liked the quiche, squid ink rice, and shrimp garlic dip! Wouldn't get the deliver eggs again but it was yum! Lots of their dishes (maybe 70%?) were sold out by dinner time :/ Service: pretty good service Atmosphere: very cute and perfect for summer if you sit close to the entrance! Other: Easy to walk in on a Sunday night for 2

Lively tapas bar in Chelsea with friendly staff and a nice cocktail and wine selection, leaning heavily on Spanish wines, sherries and cava. It does get crowded, so make reservations. We got lucky arriving just as they opened at 5 pm.

My friend and I passed by this place on a Thursday night and were lucky enough to be sat at the bar immediately upon check-in. My friend ordered and IPA and I resorted to a dry, white sparkling wine. Breakdown of our food (first two are specials, last one is a menu regular) -Cigalas y Almejas (langoustines in white wine) this. sauce. was. 50000 good. The bartender brought out a bucket of bread slices for me to soak it all up, think of your typical white wine butter sauce at the end of a dish, but with a lot of seafood umami-ness. -Falda de Res (skirt steak with salsa verde) Meat was very tender, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the leeks on top. Salsa Verde definitely helped bring some brightness to the dish. -Lamb Skewers with moored spices Super tender & juicy, selfishly wish there were more skewers Had a great time overall, this place is cozy and welcoming and I can't wait to come back!

..Do I need to say anything else!? We left !!! Nasty lady at the bar . Nasty Nasty ! Maybe they think they are the best tapas in town lol. You might have the best food but you have to know how to greed people first, that's is part of the food experience. Bad feeling we will NEVER EVER even pass by it !
Be the first to ReplyI walked into this place, looking forward to an afternoon
I walked into this place, looking forward to an afternoon of tapas and Cava. I expected a very pleasant time but was greeted by a very nasty "lady" upon entry. I arrived and was IMMEDIATELY told that the bar was the only place for Happy Hour...the nuance was "Don't even think of sitting at a table in the EMPTY place." It was BEFORE dinner time and it was clear there would be no exceptions. After her thought, when my woman friend arrived, she threw me a bone, and said I could sit at a front table. Maybe she was "concerned" about giving two gay men a table. Of course, as I do with all dumps, I left wishing her a very happy hour! My displeasure with this "lady wasn't that I couldn't sit at a table during the $2.00 discounted happy hour, rather her nasty, unwelcoming manner. For a "tapas" bar that supposedly had its nascency in the travels through ALL OF SPAIN, it was clear to me the two "ladies" learned nothing from their travels on how Spanish treat tapas patrons. I will make sure I don't recommend this place to any New Yorker. Shame, "LADY"!!!
Be the first to ReplyI went here with friends last night.
The food was delicious, and the service was good. However, I would not go back, because the seating was pretty uncomfortable--stools without backs. I don't know if they do that so people won't linger, but it's not welcoming, and it was not comfy.

We recently went here for brunch and had higher expectations. While the food was good, it wasn't amazing. We felt like we paid alot for how much food we got, even though we knew it was tapas. I wouldn't recommend the chorizo it came very salty and dry, but the patatas bravas and the montadito de crema de habitas (not pictured) were very delicious. I would eat that fava bean puree everyday! It's a very small place with high top bar seats that are aren't comfortable. The service was great - very quick and friendly.

A 3.5 for the ambiance and service. Now the food is an entire different thing, I had a beef liver that left so much to be desired. We ordered everything on the appetizer menu and the only thing I liked was the bread :( The servers were so kind and found us seating although the place was packed, they were very attentive so thank you for that! The inside of this place is very small and you're rubbing shoulders with everyone but it's so cozy you don't even care

Been here twice now and there are definitely some pluses, but also some negatives. The negatives don't make it a stay away, but definitely be prepared for it to make the most of your experience. First and foremost, seating is VERY tight. Besides one booth style table they have near the bathroom, the seats are fairly tight. Service is great when they aren't overly busy. However, be prepared to flag down as needed during peak times as they may overlook your table in the chaos. Staff is friendly and helpful, just not as attentive. Food is fairly good, but quality seems to have dropped off since being here (approx year ago). The artichoke salad was fairly nice but needed more of a tang/punch in flavor. Honestly just ask for. Some lemon wedges and allow the acid to help balance out the salad. Gambas al ajillo is done well compared to most places. The shrimp isn't overcooked and the oil/broth is balanced in terms of flavor with adequate garlic and herbs. Accompanied bread leaves a lot to be desired (very dry/almost stale) Dishes pictured were good but nothing "amazing". Once again, missing some basic seasoning/punch to bring out the flavors a bit more. The croquetas will be a toss up. They are super creamy and tasty but the amount of actual meat (or veggies) inside will be enough or completely lacking. Essentially no consistency in the filling. Wine selection has enough variety to compliment the menu but lacks depth in terms of flavor. You'll likely find something if you prefer lighter options, but not much in terms of full bodied options. Cocktails seem basic. Nothing that stands out but enough to get the job done (G&T, old fashioned, etc) if you're in the mood for a cocktail. Bar seating is the tightest and fairly uncomfortable if you're by the door(not much space and you will feel the weather everytime the door opens)

Food was really good! The restaurant is really busy so little hasten one's work to eat so they could rotate to next customers. That's only one uncomfortable about it. It is really small restaurant so you really need to confirm your seat is available or not.

Food was spectacular, wine selection great, and service friendly and knowledgeable. Fantastic evening.

It's very cute in here and reasonably priced for the area - Tapas are hit or miss. They seem to be anti-sauce in general, so I walked away feeling parched after sauceless fried fish and a bowl of plain chopped chorizo. my advice? order the things with sauce. The drinks were good and strong though!

My first time back in about 5 years but it was as I remembered it, except possibly busier? We used to come here often for brunch or a lazy mid-afternoon glass of wine. Food, drinks and atmosphere were still the same. All good with a great energetic neighborhood vibe. Only glitch was we were seated in the back room to share a table w/a party of 6. As we were leisurely drinking and conversing, most of our plates still more than half full, but we were told that we would have to give up our seats for another reservation. As many places in nyc now have time limits on their tables, we understood and our waiter was kind enough to hold a couple of seats at the bar for us to move to, where we stayed happily for the next couple of hours. That tiny annoyance aside, service was great (waiter and bartender) and we had an amazing time as we always used to.

First and foremost, as an American I like some level of comfort. I get the European theme but This place only had stools for seating which made for some interesting yoga like positions as I drank my mezcal and cut my chorizo. Food overall was good. Definitely some winners like the chorizo and lamb skewers. Drinks were watered down. Service was excellent though. Overall, made for a fun Saturday dinner.

Some of the best Spanish tapas in the city! A super cozy place down in Chelsea, perfect for lunch with friends or a nice date night. The food was amazing! I have no photos because we just could not wait to dig in. Everything we ordered was delicious but some of the highlights were the gildas, lamb skewers, the veal tongue, and the 18 month serrano ham. The gambas and patatas were solid as well. Definitely will return to try some other items on the menu. A++
Be the first to ReplyI've been wanting to go to Tia Pol ever since I moved to
I've been wanting to go to Tia Pol ever since I moved to NYC earlier this year as it came highly recommended from a former colleague when she heard I'd be living in Chelsea. Her recommendation proved to be a good one! We walked in without a reservation and easily grabbed seats at the bar. It's true that in the winter it's cold every time the door opens and closes, but I think that's a reasonable price to pay to be able to dine here without a reservation. It's not like the door is constantly open. Cute spot that would be great for a date. The food was all delicious - lamb meatballs, brussels sprouts, skirt steak, and patatas bravas. 3 of those were specials, so definitely make sure to check out the specials menu if you come here.I would have expected more wine by the glass options, but maybe this is just somewhere people get a full bottle?
Be the first to ReplyWe had a five-star experience at Tia Pol last weekend.
The service was superb, the atmosphere warm and intimate, and the food phenomenal. We started with the crispy artichoke and asparagus salad. Wow, wow, wow. This dish exceeded all of our expectations. It was full of freshness and flavor. For tapas we loved their ham croquetas (best croquetas in NYC) and the serrano ham triangles. We ordered two of their specials as our more hearty dishes. A delicious short-rib noodle dish that was rich with flavor, and tender lamb meatballs that melted in your mouth. We ended with fried custard balls with tart cherries. It was sublime! Warning: the space is small so make reservations in advance (especially if you're a larger party since there's only three tables that fits a group).

Inventive yet respectful to classic ingredients. Smart wine list. Each dish exquisitely prepared. Service was friendly, attentive, and on point! We will be back...soon!
