If you're going to go to Taboo, be prepared to spend.
It costs money just to get a table. You can choose from a variety of different ones, from cabanas to decks. Half the money goes towards food and if you go over you have to pay the difference. There's a DJ in the middle of the club which blasting music which can be hit or miss depending on the day you go. A saxophone player came around to play for us which was super sick. Most of the food came out decently quickly but one of my friends didn't get his order for a really long time. I ordered a tuna tartare and it was pretty good. The drinks were yummy too.Overall, it can be a fun and relaxing time but it's expensive.

The waiter was great and the vibe would of been a lot better during their beach day parties. The music was hella ratchet and way to loud for a dinner setting. Would of been nice to be able to speak with my girl just 2 feet away from me. It was still a lot of fun. For the food, it was so plain and zero taste. Octopus was over cooked with no flavor, lamb chops were not seasoned at all. Some of the sauces were okay but the meats were flavorless. Definitely not worth the 300+ US dollars plus tip. I would highly recommend Parole on the same street and less than half the price. Food was very flavorful down to the 2 types of bread they bring to the table. Ask for Max.

Great Vibe and music it was my bday I sat at the bar and bypassed the $130 for a table on the beach I was staying at a beach resort so I was already vested lol. However, it was a day party. Food was delicious and drinks was very good and potent :)

The food was ok, just came for the vibes but the service and the decor were spot on. A section facing the pool and the Ocean was a sight to behold as well as seeing everybody having a good time. The downside of this place is that it's overpriced and could've been a little more reasonable.

This is the go to for beach clubs but I came here for dinner. The ambiance was fun yet romantic with low lights and candles. Servers and busters were quick with their service which was great. Now to the food. We were given a complimentary appetizer - board with pita bread, olives, Piquillo peppers stuffed with goat cheese onion dip which was soo good! For another appetizer we ordered the ceviche which was kind of spicy so if you don't like mild spice, may not be for you. For main courses we ordered the rib eye which was good and tender but the catch of the day was phenomenal! I would recommend this any day.In terms of parking, we parked right next door for $25 and they said it was an all day fee with ins and outs so that's good to know for next time.

We definitely enjoyed ourselves. They took us in with no reservation on a Monday night in Jan! Great weather and we found parking right away and walking distance from the restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and friendly! They explained any of the dishes we didn't really know about and when we mentioned it was our friends birthday the waiter told us he had a surprise for us! The DJ was bomb.com!! He played so many good reggaeton throwbacks and new songs that are playing on the radio. The food was good but I probably would have liked it more if I had chosen steak instead of a burger but I def. did like their potatoes. It was pretty loud in there as well...we saw in front of the DJ which made it louder but we got a good view of the violinist. The violinist was superb!! He even came over to our table because he noticed one of my friends singing along to the song he was playing & of course we did because it was a popular song that was in the Netflix show "Money Heist"! It was a really pretty restaurant in the nighttime so I can imagine in the day! There were male & females that would dance a bit..wouldn't call them dancers cause they barely moved lol but the cooler part was the staff telling everyone to get on their chairs and then they gave sparklers!! We danced and clapped the night away to the awesome atmosphere around us! One thing I did notice in Tulum is that they love and they encourage for people get up on their tables and chairs and dance with sparklers!! Love that energy! Very great place to celebrate a birthday or have a romantic dinner! I would definitely recommend eating here when visiting Tulum.

After leaving my reservation, I noticed I was missing an item that I purchased from the locals. I went back within 3 mins noticing I was missing my item: I tried calling back bc really it was missing within 5 mins and I was told nothing was found which I think it's BULLSJIT. I spent so much money to get servicedHow I was.

Came to Tulum and no place was as Vibrant and Lively as Taboo. The atmosphere was electric as they had live music from a professional violinist who kept the energy high all night. The meals were delicious and filling ,The dessert came included with us celebrating a special birthday. 5/5

One of those expensive spots to look cute and be seen! I have a problem with personally paying $100 JUST to sit on the beach, but you can add the difference of the cost toward drinks and hookah. Ok, fine. The beach is absolutely beautiful and we went on a Monday with a sax player on the beach which was nice. I was a little irritated with people constantly trying to sell us things on the beach--especially children on such an adult restaurant beach but hey. It's one of those places you should check out once to party, drink and smoke hookah! Lots of fun. I would eat elsewhere though. Small portions and not worth the money
Be the first to ReplyThis place is liiit! Definitely upbeat and a good time.
Customer service was on point. I think the menu does not fit the outdoor beach vibe, definitely kind of heavy (food) and does not cater to those with seafood allergies but I made it work, the burger was good.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a vibe.
Came on a Sunday with a group of 8. We made reservations ahead on open table and were seated immediately. We got a table closest to the restaurant for $140 pp, with a $70 credit towards food and drinks. I had the voodoo, which was amazing!!! Had to get another one. We ordered a bottle of tequila and the waiter set up a station beside the table and made all of the drinks from that bottle. Many of us ordered the salmon burger, really good. The filet tacos were good but small, not filling. The potatoes that came with the burger were really good and nicely seasoned. The music they played catered to all parties there. They would play about 3 songs from one genre and then move on to the next. The drinks are a little pricey, especially for Mexico, but it was to be expected. They don't split checks, so doing math at check out is a little annoying because you have to convert too. Overall no real complaints, but it didn't knock me off my feet or wow me.
Be the first to ReplyI went here open minded to experience the "hype".
IG made this place a must visit during the pandemic. We came on a saturday afternoon for lunch. We were told if we wanted to sit on the beach we would have to spend a certain amount on the table for alcohol and only a certain amount goes towards food credit. We didn't care for a bottle so we sat on the deck. The food was very good but overpriced. Drinks were cute but overpriced. Everything was overpriced but its the "vibe" you pay for.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful restaurant! We came to Tulum for the day and we stopped at this popular and trendy restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday.. There are many opportunities for great pictures. There is a body painter on site, she works on tips but will ask you how much she will be tipped.. We were seated immediately once we arrived, however, keep in mind that you MUST have a reservation. This restaurant is on the beach so, there are views for days. We alerted the staff of my husband's birthday, the wait staff was great! Such great energy here.. we ordered Hookah, drinks and food.. To get started they put pita bread with olives and peppers are the table, this was great too..I ordered the salmon burger and that was very very good and filling..For the birthday celebration, they offered this flaky and yummy dessert.. the staff came out with candles and sang happy birthday. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!

Had soo much fun here! The staff was amazing literally pulled out tables for us to dance on. Came for dinner and the beach party and I would recommend both!

This place has such a great vibe!!! It is on the pricey side but totally worth it. There are two different seating areas, the beach club and just the regular seat, if you decide to sit in the beach club side it is best to do everything in advance and get there early because the line was CRAZY!!! We decided to sit in regular seating because it is more shaded. But the food was incredible and I definitely recommend trying this place out.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely recommend coming here.
We ended up going on a Sunday night around 9. There's usually reservations & it's thru open table, they are very professional & will confirm your reservations thru whatsupp. The vibe is the best part, presentation it's amazing & around every hour they had some type of entertainment. Trust me it gets pricy but definitely worth it if you're having a great time & have great company. Every time you order shots or bottle they bring out little fireworks & definitely mention if you have a birthday at the host or to your server. Drinks are a 8/10, Dj everyday & they also have day parties. Make sure you come looking cute & for four of us it was 1k.Make sure to ask your server to give you a pass for confessions which is a bar right next to it that they also own so they won't have you pay a cover charge!
Be the first to ReplyBEST BEACH CLUB IN TULUM.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I came here the last Friday of April for 2 pool cabanas that I reserved well in advance for a group of 17 girls. It was a joint bachelorette party, and the person making my reservation suggested we did the pool cabana. While it was the best time of our lives, I suggest you don't do the pool cabanas for your group because we were split up by the DJ in the middle. 9 girls on 1 side, and 8 girls on the other side. We were still able to walk across and get to either table by walking behind the DJ, but it's not fun when we have to split the group especially when some girls are not party people so you feel left out. I organized the tables so I didn't have to worry about that and I like to include everyone so that was the last of my worries but still. The total for 17 girls and 2 cabanas was around $69,000 PESOS (around $3400 USD), and of that, 50% gets applied to food and drink. So, in total we ordered around 5 bottles of liquor with food, and only had to pay about $60 per person out of pocket which is not bad at all. Total was about 275 per person (in my opinion, for a bachelorette where this is one of the highest expenses, it's totally worth it)!The vibes were immaculate. The bottle girls/guys were hot and our servers were fantastic!! We even went to the beach for a bit since it was right there, and the water was amazing. The beach club was open from 12-6 and we were there for the whole time which literally flew by. We wanted to stay longer, but alas we had to leave. Gonna be honest with the food, we ordered it so late, that by the time it got to our tables, we were well into the day. I would suggest you order your bottles & food at the same time for it to be worth it. All in all, I would 100% come back again!

Taboo is quite an experience! I came here for dinner for a bachelorette party. As soon as we walked in we were impressed by how gorgeous this place is! With the loud upbeat music, beautiful decor, wind blowing by the beach, sparklers everywhere, this place feels like sensory overload. We had reservations and were seated right away. All around us people seemed to be having a great time. Many birthday parties, bachelorette parties, etc around us. You'll even find many people dancing on top of chairs and tables. Staff periodically brings out sparklers to celebrate various occasions. For dinner they first brought out a complimentary appetizer with pita bread, cheese, olives, peppers, etc, as well as tomato soup (I think?) which were both delicious! The items we ordered however were just ok. We tried the rigatoni alla vodka (350 pesos), spicy feta cheese (305 pesos), and Greek meatballs (290 pesos). We shared these among 3 of us which was more than enough food even though 2 of these items are listed as appetizers. The pasta was flavorful and delicious but it was cold (which I guess is hard to control in an outdoor setting). The meatballs were just ok but very filling. I did not like the spicy feta and we didn't finish it. Just seemed too dry and I wasn't a fan of the flavors. I also tried a bite of the camembert Envoltini which was cheese wrapped in flaky phyllo sheets with a hint of sweetness. I really liked it but would highly recommend sharing. Furthermore as is the case in many Tulum restaurants, they charge 140 pesos for each bottle of water. For some reason they brought 6 bottles of water for a group of 7 of us which ended up costing us $40 (US dollars) for water alone. In addition service is unusually slow here...it took forever for the food to come out, for them to bring out the check, etc. I did really appreciate the enthusiasm of the staff though. They were all incredibly nice and upbeat and really added to the energy of Taboo. I also loved how they brought out sparklers for our bachelorette. In addition, they had a violin player do performances throughout the night and he was SO INCREDIBLY TALENTED!! This was probably the highlight of the night.Overall Taboo is a really fun place for dinner. It's worth experiencing once but I wouldn't come back over and over again because it really is such a sensory overload and begins to feel like some form of a psychedelic experience after a while lol. Also the food is pretty average.

My friend called me in absolute horror at what happened here. She and her friends were having an amazing time, they get in the pool to dance, and my friend steps in glass in the pool. ย She called me with several cuts and pieces of glass lodged in her foot. While barely able to walk with bloody feet, management was neither urgent or caring. She and her friends did not break glass in the pool, and they responded as though she was not a victim of their lack of diligence.

If you feel like uncomfortable about being asked to buy drugs then I would avoid this place. I was asked at least 7 times in the matter of two hours if I wanted to buy coke, weed or molly. It became very annoying to keep saying no. Cute typical tulum decor and party vibe. Didn't eat just had drinks.

I can't even speak on the ambiance and food because I was significantly burned by sparklers during a nightlife celebration. One of the waiters brought the sparklers to our table, attempted to hand me 2 of them, accidentally dropped one ON me and ran off while I burned on my arm, leg, and foot. I've never experienced such negligence from a restaurant. There is video evidence of the entire incident and I am pursuing legal action. I just wanted to make people aware of this situation.
Be the first to ReplyI went to taboo the restaurant at night on my birthday last
I went to taboo the restaurant at night on my birthday last year & i had a great time so i went again this year. Idk what had happened within that year but THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE AS FUCK. We went to the restaurant, they were playing this horrible loud as hell techno music, everyone was standing on tables, people drunk about to knock my damn hookah over because they are running around twerking on each other, doing the limbo all by my damn table. Our waiter really sucked, did not bring us any water until the end. It took forever for our drinks to come. Gratuity is included so they don't give a fuck about their service & it showed.Fast forward to the next day i wanted to try out their beach club. OMG worse decision I've made this whole trip. #1 we paid to get in which was 140$ , half of that went to food & drinks. They sat us down at this table nowhere near the beach, hella fly's around us. Our waiter was once again horrible, took forever. We ordered 2 rounds of shots & my friend didn't know how much the shots were, they came up to 800$ in shots. The waiter didn't even suggest us getting a bottle he just let us buy these expensive ass shots which we didn't even know. Mind you it's my birthday so my friends are doing all the ordering with drinks trying to surprise me. Once again the music was so damn loud i left with a headache, we were right by this speaker & they were playing this horrible horrible techno music. Ugh. I was so overwhelmed with how bad the food & the service was i went to the bathroom & started crying on my birthday. I could not wait to pay the bill & leave. Once we paid the bill we walked down to the beach & had a much better time there & the music was much lower by the beach. I would not recommend this place if you are African American like me you would not like it trust it'll drive you completely nuts. I recommend BOK excellent service over there, music at a decent level where you can actually hear you friends talking. This place is too fucking LOUD! I hated it, worse experience ever. The only thing that was good there was their hookah
