Amazing
Simply one of the most amazing experience when it comes to East sushi / Japanese cuisine. I need also to add that the service was really excellent and Tatiana ( hope is correct the name ) she was absolutely stunning!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat visit with my sceptical aged dad
I took my 88 year old father to Taka, imagining it might be a bit overwhelming for him, too glamorous, and the menu and food too adventurous. However, our waiter was so helpful and really took care of us, the food was outstanding, and we had a lot of fun trying new things. Its my second time here and I love it. Its definitely a gourmet experience in a stylish setting. Its not cheap but I think it's worth it.
Be the first to ReplyValue for money - zero!
Value for money - very low. Food is not bad, and full stop. When you expect and extraordinary taste you get the experience of an average Japanese restaurant, i.e. not what we expected!
Be the first to ReplyAllergy issue - shocking
If I could give 0 stars I would. The menu doesn't say the cod rolls contain avocado and nobody asked me if I was allergic to anything. The rolls arrive and you can't see anything of what's inside so I just have a big bite when I realise there's a massive piece of avocado inside. I am allergic to avocado and I immediately take antihistamine, I notify the waiter and she asks me if I am going to have a bad reaction, she doesn't offer me to bring something else instead and just removes the plate from the table. My dinner is already ruined by then, knowing I will probably be sick the entire night. The bill comes and they haven't even removed the rolls, they don't even send a chocolate for the inconvenience. When leaving, I explain to the manager what happened and she responds '' ah you're the avocado table'' (great, you know this happened and you don't even bother coming, luckily my allergy is not severe - imagine I go into anaphylactic shock and you need to close the restaurant for the night) and her response his "it's just the way the menu it's written, we don't write all the ingredients'' and I respond, wow that's amazing and nobody even asked me if I had an allergy, and she responds '' why didn't you tell them'' by then I just decide to leave the place because I can't be bothered to waste my time and she's just looking waiting for me to leave. OUTRAGEOUS. SHAME I LIVE IN FRONT OF THIS RESTAURANT AND I WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN. Thank you for ruining my evening, will not recommend to anybody.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Japanese Restaurant
Popped in here on a Saturday lunchtime. Wonderful ambience and tastefully decorated restaurant. Super friendly staff and service. Food was just amazing - sublime in taste and texture. Portions on the small side (which we did not mind) but prices on the high side (which we did) e.g. ยฃ7 for a bottle of beer, same for a small bowl of rice. Will go back to try other dishes, but the restaurant does need to be mindful of the pricing!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and good value
The current trend in London is for small Omakase restaurants with eye watering prices.
These guys just do it right. A wonderful neighbourhood restaurant with great food and great staff at reasonable prices. Everything we chose was spot on.
The restaurant was busy so you need to make a reservation but itโs well worth it.
A good meal โฆ
I started with the popcorn shrimp which had a deliciously dry crispy tempura crust, and two tasty dipping sauces. The rice dish with wagyu was overly rice, and very little wagyu. The chicken thighs were delicious, so all in all, a good meal.
Be the first to ReplySuch a fab Friday night dinner
Had a fab Friday night dinner here. The service was fab, particularly helpful with vegan options and drinks recommendations; clearly knowledgable about the menu. The restaurant design is well considered, and a busy Friday night made for a great atmosphere. The food itself was absolutely delicious, as was the sake. The avocado rolls and aubergine dish both worth a special mention. A wider range of vegan desserts would have made it even better. Definitely recommend, and recommend booking.
Be the first to ReplyRuined our experience
Sushi and rolls really good. Service good to begin with. A fried chicken dish came out at the end. One of the drumsticks was pink and like a piece of rubber. You couldnโt bite into it. I didnโt want to make a fuss at all or announce this in hearing distance of nearby customers so quietly asked the waiter to show it to the Chef. He was absolutely fuming, it was really awkward for the rest of the time in there. They knocked this of the bill but didnโt apologies. Just said โyou didnโt like it, itโs okโ. Iโm surprised that a restaurant of this quality and ambition took this so personally.

Food was incredible, service was great. Alexis and
Joao were amazing; made my sister a special birthday cocktail, recommended us the best meals and organised a birthday surprise. The scallops were incredible. Highly recommend!!!
All round great experience
All round great experience. Food was excellent, good atmos, not too noisy and everything was beautifully presented. Live DJ playing some perfectly chosen mellow background tunes as well, she was amazing! Thank for a really good evening

A few years ago, I went to the original Taka in Shepherd's market and enjoyed the food so when this new one opened a year or so ago, I was excited to try it and finally managed to go there last night. It was a disappointment.
Friendly service. A bit too loud music for my taste in a Japanese restaurant but fine. Food after all is the main thing I had come for.
We ordered 9 dishes and I have to say none were something to write home about. Shame.
Impeccable service and great food
We had a delicious and affordable dinner with some drinks. The service was so so sweet! My boyfriend gave me my birthday present and without him mentioning anything the staff brought a birthday moji! It honestly made my day.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Sando which proclaimed to be Japanese Wagyu
I appreciated the waiting staff here, got a solid walk though of the menu. The vibe of this restaurant was lively and decor in keeping with what you would expect from a high end restaurant in Marylebone.
The food was overall mediocre,
we tried a variety of rolls that where ok, the sashimi plates where paired with some great flavours and where the highlight of the evening.
The lowlight, and reason I would not come back is the wagyu Sando.
Itโs not a easy dish to come across in London, so jumped at the chance to try.
We where told this was a5 grade Sakura wagyu, what was presented to us was beef that had little to no marbling.
Texture was chewy and not the buttery texture one can expect from such a cut of beef.
That dish in particular was ยฃ50 which is a great deal, if the dish was as it should have been.
What more can I say, I feel cheated! -
In summary: good raw fish, rolls filling but not delicious and stay away from the stando.
Cheers
Horrible service and seating arrangement
We made a booking for 5 people. We were given a table on the first floor around which waiters couldn't walk or serve other tables so they kept kicking our chairs and asking us to squeeze closer together.
We inquired whether it would be possible to change tables as we were uncomfortable and kept having to move our chairs every time someone needed to pass. Instead of listening to our concerns, we got a dismissive attitude from the restaurant manager.
The seating was packed so closely together, that the small 5m by 7m room was undoubtedly filled over the intended capacity and for H&S purposes there was never a secure maintained fire exit route.
Very disappointed in the way the situation was handled and definitely not what you expect from a restaurant of this calibre.
Needless to say, we will not be coming back.
