Still the best Indian in NYC - great for business and for fun
Like being back in India. Indian beer, Indian food and (of course) awesome Indian service. We shared 2 appetizers (a Chat and the Chicken), plus of course Pappadams. For the main course, the Lamb was just okay but the Paneer 3 ways and the Dal Makhani were both spectacular. It's still the best Indian in NYC
Be the first to ReplyExecutive Lunch at Michelin starred Restaurant
I had a superb lunch at Tamarind. They have an executive 3 course lunch which includes 2 main courses. The sauces for each dish were perfect, complex aromas and pleasurable tastes. The price was reasonable for a Michelin starred restaurant. This will be a regular stop on my trips to NYC!
Be the first to ReplyBest of New York
We enjoyed a lovely afternoon lunching at Tamarind Tribeca NYC. We tried the Executive Lunch for $34. We were quite surprised by the generous amount of food received for each serving offered. The appetizer - Shrimp and Mango - was delicious. Three large shrimps with a golden yellow mango sauce, quite beautifully plated. Next, two entrees, not one..my selection, chicken tandoori and fish, was accompanied by basmati rice, mixed vegetables and naan. Three generous portions were topped off with dessert. Excellent tasting food, generous portions, outstanding service staff, beautiful decor -- all for $34. What a buy in NYC!
Be the first to ReplyGood, not exceptional
The biryani was excellent; the scallops, kaftan, goat and chicken were quite good, but not really exceptional (as I would expect of a Michelin-starred venue, and for these prices). Oh ... the malai naan were terrific, something we'd not had before, ever. The wait service was very good (rating=4); one of the hostesses however was rude in refusing to seat one of our two parties (who had arrived early), and then when later confronted, claimed she had made no such refusal (i.e. she fibbed; rating=1). So, the one unfortunately cancels out the other = 2 overall.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and atmosphere
The food was very good and considering that it is New York it was quite affordable. It is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service and hygiene
My husband and I used to dine here regularly. We came back after COVID and noticed a decline in the food quality, cleanliness and service. With a take out order, I found a black hair in the food and the restaurant wouldnโt acknowledge it. The final straw was showing up for an early 5:30pm dinner with our son, the restaurant 90% empty and being told we could only dine outside (in 30 degrees) because they donโt allow 5 year olds. This isnโt a fine dining, Michelin star restaurant. Itโs glorified Indian street food with poor hygiene and terrible service. No wonder the Flatiron location shut down.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific Food, Terrific Service
I hadn't been to Tamarind in about 12 years, and it is nice to know that the food still holds up. Everything the four of us ordered -- from the lamb to chicken to fish dishes, and from the appetizers to the deserts, were excellent. The service was first rate. The restaurant is beautiful. What more can you ask for?
Be the first to ReplyWe โค๏ธ Tamarind!
This is the second time I've reviewed Tamarind and my first review was about the service, and I want to say that we have visited Tamarind maybe 6/7 times since and the service has been amazing. Our waiter even remembered my favorite cocktail! Food was always topnotch and still is. We love the atmosphere and can't wait to return again.

Lovely Ambiente and Service.unforgetteble evening with family and Friends.I will recomend this restaurant to my friends
Be the first to ReplyBeyond delicious Indian Cuisine
We had magnificent cocktails with perfect flavors. I had a martini with ginger and absolute pepper which the flavors infused together were delightful. My friend had the drink with Tumeric that was also just a delightful combination. We trusted our waiters suggestions and it was an incredible array of delicious Indian delicacies. Sarson Wali Machli was the best seafood dish of the night.
Be the first to ReplyVery Rude Staff
The staff were very rude upon calling them through to dining. It is also a joke that they do not allow children under 8 to dine inside of their restaurant only outside...
Be the first to ReplyDecent food and pushy waiter
Restaurant is nicely designed and decorated. Rich menu allows everyone to find something for their taste. Food is decent but not comparable to best Indian restaurants. However, what ruins the atmosphere are pushy waiters.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, great food and superb ambience! Highly recommended for dinner with family and friends!
Great food and ambience and super friendly service all our requests were met with professional competence. Surely recommend
Be the first to ReplyBig and loud dining room on two levels with fantastic traditional Indian cuisine
Part of a chain Tamaring TriBeCa is as good as all Tamarind! The menu in fairly wide and you can find certainly something of your taste and the waiters are very helpful if undecided. I loved the crispy roll filled with duck, and the lotus vegetarian dish. Maybe I was expecting a bit more taste from the cheese naan. They offer a cocktail and wine list but I chose the Indian beer.
Price is adeguate. There is only one thing that I would improve: the location is quite big and it can get way to loud, so some sound absorbing systems would be needed.
Amazing
I like an indian dinner and was expecting a typical Indian meal - however this was excellent. The room was a little warm but the food was fantastic!
Be the first to ReplySuperb meal with outstanding service.....
This restaurant was near our hotel and we wanted at least ONE upscale dining event while in NYC... this was the perfect spot.... The service was superb and the food was delicious... Everything was served with care and beautifully presented.

We went to Tamarind tribeca after our friend recommended us . Itโs a Michelin star Indian restaurant. Food was excellent but we were disappointed with the owner . He was walking around greeting people but he was doing only to whites . We Indians were totally ignored. When you go to 5star restaurant then you expect the service . Well I am not disappointed with food . Food was excellent. Canโt go wrong with it . I am just sharing my experience. Will surely recommend my friends.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding and innovative Indian cuisine
There are not enough superlatives to describe this restaurant. Really delicious food with some innovative dishes I had never had before. Loved it!
Be the first to ReplySuperb Indian Food from all parts of India
Make a reservation and prepare for the best Indian food you've ever tasted. Three of us had a magnificent dinner with all the trimmings, including a delicious dessert. If you're not vaccinated, then you have to eat outside but they have about 20 individual tables, each isolated from the others, along the sidewalk. We ate inside.
Be the first to ReplyVery deli
This Indian place is delicious. The waiter very attentive, the food incredible. The roasted chicken is a must!
Be the first to ReplyMuch hyped but had a horrible experience.
Extremely poor service.Took one hour to bring the main dish.Run of the mill food, would have got excellent food in Indian Restaurants on Lexington Road.Waiter forgot the Scotch till the dinner was over. Was in a hurry to take the dishes before we finished starters.More salt on the wounds was poured by the owner going around and mentioning to us that Robert De Niro from nearby Tribeca Grill was a frequent visitor.
Connoisseurs of good Indian food please refrain from dining here!
Hope it was a glitchโฆ
Visited few times in the last 15 years. Always had a great memory of impeccable service and awesome food. However last night was different. Not sure whether they are short staffed during the pandemic. Both service and food was mixed. While the specials was awesome, many of the entree and appetizers were mediocre. Hope itโs a temporary glitch.
