Excellant
Tamarine continues to have excellent and interesting food. Superb Vietnamese cuisine, beautiful restaurant and excellent staff.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service
Excellent food and service with great vegan options and customisations. We were celebrating a special occassion and the staff sent a personalised card as well. I've visited this restaurant several times in the past and even with its excellent reputation the food and service is never complacent and really welcoming. Well worth the steep prices!
Be the first to ReplyDecent food with the fine dining level of service
The food was alright. Had the lamb which was a simple dish but made in a way I haven't had before. The shaking beef and rice was good also. One of the staff members brought the rice dish out and finished mixing it up table side. Service was good. Waitress did her job and maintained a positive attitude even when dealing with more difficult customers. And you know you are in a fine dining restaurant when a guy comes by to get rid of EVERY single crumb that I had around my plate hehe.
Be the first to ReplyThis is not a Michelin..
We were disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. the service in the restaurant is simply non-existent, the waiters don't work... From the kitchen, very dubious combinations of Vietnamese and European food.. I hope the experts in the kitchen will overestimate the status of this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated food & poor/pushy “service”
Most of the items we ordered were average at best. Cocktail was bland, recommended beer was boring. Waitress was pushy, in a rush, and rushing us. She was Extremely inattentive, she never checked on us. We wanted to order more drinks several times, but never had the opportunity to do so. She seemed annoyed by our presence. Food wise, there is little attention to presentation, especially for a restaurant that is supposed to be of high caliber. The spring rolls, the shrimp, the green beans, and the Seabass were all very disappointing. The roti was fine. Only the Brussel sprouts & cod were good (but overly sweet). There are just so many better options in the area. This place has lost its touch.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Not great for someone who is used to eastern spices and doesn’t want everything sweetened up. Not very authentic but that’s okay
Be the first to ReplyFive Stars to Tamarine Manager on-duty
Hosted customers for dinner at Tamarine on 8 April. The Manager on duty , I believe his name is Antonio, helped to solve the seating capacity crisis. Despite the front desk ladies persistent & constant replies that they cannot accommodate 2 more guests as it is full house, they said ‘let’s see what Antonio can do for you’. He did. He directed his crew and personally extended the bottom of the table to seat 6 pax indoors. The whole good experience is totally owed to him, and certainly the food (limited photos taken) . Five stars to Antonio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Be the first to ReplySnobby up-selling, very unpleasant
I knew what I wanted on arrival but the waiter applied a strong pressure for me to order a more expensive dinner that I did not want.. Bad experience.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, Upscale Vietnamese food perfect for an occasion dinner
Vietnamese restaurants tend to be cheaper but solidly delicious. I wasn't sure why this place was so expensive, but they had openings for a larger party on a busy weekend, so I made a reservation. When we walked in, we realized from the decor that this place is definitely much more upscale than the typical Vietnamese place! The art and ambience speaks to fine dining, and the food came from the fine-dining Chinese-Vietnamese pedigree than the hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese with salad bowls and banh mi sandwiches. The food was well-prepared and tasty. We look forward to returning when we are in the Palo Alto area.
Be the first to ReplySerious up-selling
Our server, Jay, did a blatant job of up-selling me into an over-expensive meal that I did not want. It soured the evening for me. Sure won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyLoved This Restaurant
It was all fantastic from start to finish. The art on the walls, the whole ambience was a fine experience.
Be the first to ReplyVery flavorful and will come again
Ate lunch here. Delicious food. Save room for the coconut tapioca desert. Vegan avocado spring rolls were ordinary, but everything else we had was very flavorful. The coffee was also worth a try… very different than American coffee. Service was excellent. Atmosphere friendly and casual. Would highly recommend if you like flavorful food.
Be the first to ReplyTamarine remains a standout in Palo Alto
I've eaten here a couple of times in the past month and the meals were outstanding. I suspect everyone's favorite is the shaking beef and it is all that and more. We also had the papaya salad whose flavor was just fresh and delish. Service is good, attentive and professional. I've been coming here for a dozen years and it remains a standout in the area.
Be the first to ReplyVariety of food flavors with great service
We were offered indoor or outdoor seating and chose indoor. The table was nicely prepared with a white tablecloth and plates. All of the food was interesting and very good: Spring rolls, kale salad, aubergine, lemongrass tofu. The chili-lime fish sauce with the eggplant countered the hotness of the hot flavors of the tofu. Service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting menu with some amazing things, some less so
We really enjoyed our meal here. Some things were outstanding (the Black cod) while some were pretty routine (the eggplant dish). But overall, we loved the experience, the garlic noodles, the drink menu and the outdoor dining. I can't comment on the authenticity of the "Asian" food, but as fusion, it was excellent and our servers were fantastic.
Be the first to Replydelicious dinner
Our niece and nephew invited us to dinner and picked this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service attentive. Great to walk around town after we ate a lot as we shared so many good dishes.
Be the first to ReplyMany items are not truly vegan or vegetarian
Tamarine's ratings drop precipitously this time as they have items on the menu marked vegan or vegetarian but that are not vegan or vegetarian due to cross-contamination in their cooking. Our server did not seem to understand that this means the food is not vegan. The manager understood but had no empathy. For a high-end restaurant to not get this right, it gets 2 stars though in the past not knowing this, I gave it high ratings.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place with great service
We had a very good business dinner here. A lot of excellent smaller Asian fusion dishes for sharing that tasted excellently. We are coming back
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service
I went there for a private party, and the food and service were excellent. They provided any cocktail that was asked. The food was really good. I personally loved the tea leaf beef, green papaya salad, and lemongrass sea bass.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Good location and ambiance for a lunchtime business meeting in Palo Alto. Good service but - living in Asia - the food is not identifiably Vietnamese. Fabulous Sea Bass though :)
Be the first to ReplyAlways a good choce
The food is really delicious. We don't come here often (maybe 4-6 times a year) but every time we do make it, the food is wonderful!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful As Always
Four of us enjoyed this great restaurant, one of our favorites in Palo Alto.
Two of stated with the cucumber martini, spectacular.
Appetizers of spring rolls, shrimp and samosa all incredible.
Main course of sea bass and three had tofu dishes.
The sides of rice, and vegetable serving were also very very good.
Deserts of pana cotta and beginets also excellant.
We live just almost around the corner, and enjoy Tamarine regularly.
It was a busy Saturday night and the service was attentive and professional.
