We walked in for dinner to an empty restaurant at 7 ish on a Sunday evening. Servers don't care as soon as we walked in they were like you have to order at the kiosk and didn't want to talk to anyone and just ignored us the whole time. It's not a restaurant with server service it's more like take out place and the server won't even give you water. It was underwhelming to go as it doesn't say it's "counter service" on their Yelp or Google profile. We were dining with another family and it was inconvenient and bothersome to have to fetch water and napkins and plates ourselves. I recommend take out and not dine in. The food was okay. We got paneer tikka masala, saag paneer and assorted bread basket. Our friends ordered kebabs. Everyone was satisfied with the food.

As someone who is an Indian food connoisseur, I must say that this is some of the best Indian food in all of San Diego! The stews here are unsurpassed, and the accoutrements are unique in their preparation and taste. The Samosa appetizer with garbanzo beans and Indian yogurt was a great start to an excellent meal. This appetizer can be eaten as a meal due to the abundance of spices and portion size of the dish. The Lamb Curry was absolutely heavenly! This dish was loaded with flavors, and the overall preparation was superior to your traditional curry dishes. The Chicken Vindaloo was equally tasty with stewed tomatoes, onions, and large portions of season potatoes. This was a better version of this dish compared to others that I have had from other restaurants in the past. Even the Raita and Keema Naan were unique versions that took this meal to the next level... The Raita had shredded carrots and fresh herbs, while the Keema Naan was full of ground lamb spiced to perfection! I say bravo, Tandoori Hut... You are now my go to for Indian food from now on!
Be the first to ReplyI LOVE LOVE this restaurant.
It is so tasty and delicious. I can't eat spicy foods anymore sadly. I developed GERD & have had to cut a lot of things out of my diet. Including spicy so I was so delighted that Tandoori Hut is so wonderful and tasty even when ordering dishes mild. It may not be a FANCY dining environment, still very nice though inside, service is very friendly, good prices, lunch specials and I think buffets (you'll have to ask them, covid changed many things) and the food is some of the best I've ever had. I've been eating Indian food since I was a toddler cause they have so many vegetation options, so I've eaten much Indian cuisine in my life. I'm giving this establishment many thank yous for their craft. Even mild, it's incredible. They have beautiful art on the tables and nice ambiance.

After returning from a trip to London, we were absolutely craving Indian food. In particular though, looking for black daal (or dal makhani). There are very few restaurants in San Diego that serve it but Tandoori Hut is one of them. While the food wasn't quite comparable to the food in London, though we weren't expecting it to be, it still satisfied the craving that we were having. Would typically give 4 stars, but an extra for having the dal makhani. We ordered the butter chicken, dal makhani, alo gobi, plain naan and raita. Butter Chicken- We decided to go medium on this dish and the spice difference was noticeable. Tolerable but definitely not for someone looking for a typical medium. Chicken was cooked tender. Alo Gobi- This is made dry, so it does not have a curry consistency. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it as a vegetarian option! Dal Makhani- Unlike the black daal we'd enjoyed at Dishoom, it had a much more textured consistency. There was a mix of black lentils with what looked like a few kidney or pinto type beans. Great flavor though. Raita- Much needed to keep things cooled down! Pair with some naan. The online ordering platform was easy to use and we'll definitely order again.
Be the first to ReplyAre you kidding me! I love this place.
This was so so good. We came for lunch and there was no one else and ordered the following: 1. Pakoras 2. Chicken Tikka (spicy) 3. Paneer (spicy) 4. Garlic Naan Of course I had a great time!! I would want the chicken tikka to be spicier but the the paneer was definitely really spicy and good. I also loved the chutney and the pakoras. Honestly it was just a good time and the food was good. I can see why it was rated so highly!

so we just drove here from OC and was hoping to eat the buffet. But i guess they no longer have the buffet...bummer Ordered the Tandoori chicken, chicken Kabob and Bhindi. Honestly we just left disappointed... I mean who serves sweet chicken..:both the tandoori chicken and Chicken kabob were sweet. Yes sweet indian food LMAO the Bhindi was good. not once did anyone come and ask how the food was. Not worth the money we paid for the food and the parking.

Have been coming here for years but recently noticed the portion size go down significantly and the price go up. I ordered 4 items last night totaling to almost $100. My chicken tikka had less than 10 pieces of chicken in it for a full $17 size..

We were actually headed for some Taco Bell tonight and saw this next door. Who can resist Indian food on a Friday night? Had to have me some chicken tikka masala, malai kafta and saag paneer. Got my fix in. Taco Bell-maybe next time

My favorite spot recently for my curry cravings, I usually get butter chicken mild spice and my boyfriend gets tikka masala medium spice level. Would definitely recommend. Very fast service and calm atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyOrdered delivery while craving Indian food.
The tikka masala and samosas were delicious but the curry was very oily. I would definitely order the first two again!
Be the first to ReplyAwful uncooked unsafe food.
Ordered $250 worth of lunch . My niece got severe stomach cramps and food poisoning n vomits I had severe stomach problems also. Didn't get any credit from DoorDash n have to throw away the whole food.
Be the first to ReplyOverall good food.
Had makai kofta with rice and nan that was excellent. Vegetable pakoras were on
Be the first to ReplyButter chicken was good with nice sauce and tang.
Biryani chicken was a bit greasy but large portion.Mushroom masala was packed with mushrooms and peas, with a creamy sauce.Naan was a bit chewy.Everything was very average, and I attribute the naan issue to take out containers. If we come back to this joint we will eat on site to see if there is any difference!Good beer selection and uses the San Diego Dining gift card...bonus!
Be the first to ReplyThe blandest Indian food around.
If you like no flavor this is your place. Asked for spicy tikka masala and was given a flavorless bland mess.

This place is a nightmare!! We ordered $84 of food on UBER eats but the Uber eats delivery driver dropped off an entire different order, worth $26.94. We called the UBER eats driver and we were told that they gave her the food & to call the restaurant. We called the restaurant, who heard our story & then HUNG UP ON US!?!! Very unprofessional! We tried to call Tandoori Hut back again & we're given an automated message that said "Mailbox full" what!?! This restaurant at the very least is SHADY!!!

Food was delicious! Great curry! Will definitely come back for different dishes to try!
Be the first to ReplyStaff are hella rude.
I called to place an order. Explained that I wanted to place an order on post mates, but the name was "Matchstick Masala" and had the same exact address. The staff member hung up in my face. Needless to say I wont be ordering here. They are putting a fake postmates name on the internet. Very VERY suspect. Why fake the name of your business on a delivery service?......
