Gorgeous
Gorgeous bakery - we had delicious toasted sandwiches, so big could have shared, wish we had had room for the gorgeous pastries and cakes.
Be the first to ReplyBusy bakery/cafe near Golden Gate Park
Busy place close to Golden Gate Park with limited menu of classic choices. Waited a bit too long in line (around 2:30) only to learn they were out of my top selections. I ordered the quiche, which came with a salad that felt more like a garnish. The quiche was excellent, with an airy consistency that almost melted in my mouth. The dressing on the crisp lettuce was tangy and just enough. We also enjoyed a banana-walnut muffin which was moist with the right amount of crumble and very tasty. I would come back but probably earlier in the day before they sell out of favorite menu items. The line may be even longer, though, so leave plenty of time.
Be the first to ReplyUnacceptable service
The food may be wonderful, but the service is simply unacceptable. I have been there three times, and service was mediocre. Today it was below any expectations, I will never come back. I will miss the lemon cake.

We went for breakfast. I had the plain croissant. My husband had the ham and cheese croissant; he said it was the best he ever had. I am sorry we couldn’t work this bakery into our stay at least two more times. I could eat my way through all the baked goods very easily. There is inside seating and several tables outside as well.
Be the first to ReplySoul is gone. Don’t visit
The soul of this place is gone . It is just a coffee shop. They don’t make fresh bread on premise anymore , the menu is a third of what it used to be The long lines at 4pm everyday is gone Place is probably sold to a new owner in Covid and does not have the same charisma of old business With the parking being a major nightmare in this so so neighborhood- drop it For some of us who have been here before you can cherish and live on old memories

My husband and I visited September 2023 during a trip to San Francisco. The staff was super friendly! We were not very impressed with the sandwiches. We got the Turkey and pastrami sandwiches and they were both pretty greasy. We didn’t get to try the pastries so I can’t comment on how other items taste. We were expecting a bit more since the reviews were so high.

Excellence in bakery! Had the toasted sourdough and butter, chocolate croissant and almond croissant. All were excellent!
Be the first to ReplyGreat bakery in LA
We went in the afternoon, excellent products and we didn't find a queue. Little seating and the unavailability of some things that cannot be missing (e.g. fruit juice), do not allow me to give 5 stars!

The bakery goods were not warm. (You may have to request this) We ordered the chocolate croissant, it was dried out, and tasted like it may have been baked the day before. The salmon and lox was OK, but was missing some flavor. The gluten-free oatmeal muffin was amazing. We also ordered the omelette and Arugula salad, which had a bunch of flavors, and I would definitely order that again. :)

We sorta went full-boar on this as my brother-in-law is a major fan. Ended up getting like 5 pastries (croissant, chocolate croissant, morning bun, a savory pastry, and like a jam pastry) all were amazing. The morning bun and croissant were my fav. They were all out of their classic sourdough so we got their ‘porridge’ which is a whole wheat or multi-grain sourdough - it was….mind blowing. We saved it to munch on later in our trip and it was delightful. The bread itself was so moist, it was on the verge of being wet it was so wet (but, in a good way!) You could tell the starter must have been incredible and the outside crust was cooked to perfection. Do yourself a favor, get a loaf and go get some high-quality salty butter and go to town!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the Best in SF !!
Very high quality cafe and bakery. Absolutely beautiful pastries and bread. I highly recommend their lemon tart!!! Arrive early in the day if you want to find seating. The location in the inner sunset is a great spot if your near golden gate park!

Heard about this place as a sourdough bakery so headed over for breakfast. 2 of us had 3 pastries and 2 coffees for $30! The coffees were pathetic.- sour even though they appeared to be freshly made. Of the 3 pastries, the almond croissant was decent and the one that was in the shape of a snail was ok. Another with a custard filling was terrible. Definitely would not recommend this unless you like overpriced pastries.

Give a good byte and never let go! We stayed in SF for a week and we chose this bakery everyday. If you go to San Francisco you must pay a visit. The staff was absolutely amazing!

The food was outstanding. We had the Egg Sandwich, the Junbo Royal and two plain croissants that were crispy and silky, just amazing. Coffee was excelkent. Line goes fast.
Be the first to ReplyDeliciousness
We tried some delicious, crusty, soft, flaky croissants as well as bread and their wonderful breakfast cake. Their coffee is good as well - genuine espresso barista ! All of it was wonderful and we even managed to enjoy it sitting outside, chatting to other patrons. The queues can be long, so choose your timing well.
Be the first to ReplyInfamous Baking institution
Most foodies visiting San Francisco will already have heard of Tartine, it's world famous and its cook books are available in every corner of the world by now. The queue can seem scary but it moves super fast as there are no tables inside so everyone is getting to go. There are a couple of tables outside if you are lucky enough to nab one. This place is famous for a reason, it's great. The coffee is fantastic and the baked treats are as delicious as they are beautiful. The only downside, there are no vegan baked goods which I thought was odd for SF in 2022 but it's clearly not something they are considering.

It was a nice pleasant atmosphere and the pastries were marvelous service was above standard but nothing to rave over did enjoy the coffee with a nice atmosphere and lively
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely worth queuing - proper French pastries
A few have recommended this place and I had my doubts but….everything we tried was delicious and the pastries were properly baked, the French way. We tried a couple of cakes, pastries, a sandwich, bread and even a salad. Disappointed we were not. Good coffee too! Must mention that the staff were very helpful and welcoming

Visited the Tartine on Inner Sunset next to Golden Gate Park. Had seen Tartine features on a couple of foodie programmes (E.g. Somebody Feed Phil) and it looked amazing. Loved the laid back vibe in the cafe, it felt like a neighbourhood institution although I think we just orders the wrong things as there was just way too much butter in our dishes (and we like butter !); I had the grilled cheese and hubby had an omelette. That said it was a good pit-stop in our sightseeing.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful croissant
Made a long awaited pilgrimage to Chad Robertson’s iconic Tartine. Tried the croissant and morning bun. Both went excellent. Was a bit disappointed that espresso coffee is not served at first opening and the filter coffee was not up to par with the baked goods. Worth a visit if you’re in SF.
Be the first to ReplyWell Worth The Trip; Thanks Phil!!
Like others I heard about Tartine from the Somebody Feed Phil San Francisco episode. The bakery was, as expected, filled with super delicious pastries and flavored croissants. We bought a variety of items and everyone was fresh, tasty, and worth the calories, I went on a Monday morning to avoid the long weekend lines. This place is well worth a visit, line or not.
Be the first to ReplySomebody Feed Phil sent us!
We saw the San Francisco episode of Somebody Feed Phil and decided to try the featured Tartine Bakery. We ordered online and skipping the long line once we arrived (highly recommend). We got a morning bun, savory scone, hazelnut tarte, some cookies, two croissants, and a few other items. Overall it was very delicious. We took the treats to a picnic at Twin Peaks so by the time we go there, the pastries were cold. Not sure if they warm them up before hand but it made it so they were a tad bit on the dry side and we didn't have any drinks with us (rookie mistake to not get a coffee). Definitely recommend eating them as fresh as possible!
Be the first to ReplyAverage and expensive
So after seeing this on Somebody Feed Phil I had to give it a try. I placed an order online directly through their website but I was disappointed to see that they were sold out of items and I had no option but to purchase a 3 pack of the brownies instead of just one. I also spent almost $50 which was pretty pricey.
When I arrived to pickup my order I mentioned that I was disappointed that they were out of the chocolate croissant and they said they had some left but when they run low they remove it off their website. My items were packed in a bag and the tart was in their refrigerator. Pickup was super easy, skipped the line which wasn't too bad with about 5 people and the staff was super nice!
In order from favorite to least favorite:
CHOCOLATE CHIP WALNUT COOKIE $3.75
Valrhona chocolate, oats, walnuts
*nice texture from the oats and walnuts, wish there was a little more chocolate
CHOCOLATE CROISSANT $5.75
Valrhona chocolate croissant
*flaky and three pieces of chocolate
BROWNIE (3 PACK) $12
Valrhona chocolate, spelt flour
*rich and moist but a little bitter
MORNING BUN $5
cinnamon, sugar, orange zest
*definitely could taste the orange zest, didn't love the texture of this bun
4" BANANA CREAM TART $9
bananas, chocolate, caramel, pastry cream, and whipped cream in a flaky shell
*looked better than it tasted, bananas were the best part, the tart shell itself was very dry
COLD BREW $4.50
*very watered down coffee, needed more ice but also just more flavor the coffee flavor was very minimal
Overall not a bad experience but I was pretty disappointed by the pastries even the cookie and croissant. I wouldn't come back or suggest making a special trip to visit.
Worth trying
I am not sure there is a perfect description on how good it is. Tartine has some of the best bakeries I have ever had. Everything is good, from bread to croissants and tarts. Especially tarts, just wonderful! To skip the line, I ordered takeout online. Usually I order food online through doordash or ubereats, but my friend told me that these apps charge high commissions so the restaurants add markups on the menu on the apps, and she suggested me order on hyperflyer.com, where you actually order from the restaurant directly. The price is much lower than 3rd party apps because the restaurants don’t bump their menu prices up when they don’t need to pay commissions. I am so glad that I tried Tartine and discovered this great place, and I will definitely come back soon.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful pastries.
Went on a weekday during covid so no line at all. Chose four treats and we weren't disappointed by any! Awesome cookies, eclair, and macaroons. Quick and kind service.
