Tartine Santa Monica Reviews from The Last Year
Coffees are solid here.
Love to pick up a morning bun and a country sourdough to go. The bread lasts fresh for many days. Outside tables are such a lovely setting when ordering in at Tartine in SM.

The location is gorgeous, the food is delightful and the service is top notch. The variety was very good and the baked goods cannot be. Eat. It was a bit weird with the coffee drinks at a separate counter.
Cute place.
We ordered smoke salmon tartine which was so good. The crunchy bread was perfect with the salmon. We also got the savory scone, sweet danish Togo. However we ate the sweet danish before we left the restaurant. It can't go wrong with the bakery here.

Absolutely delicious and classic! I'm so grateful I was finally able to try this LA spot. The smoked salmon tartine was flavorful and the country loaf was perfectly toasted and satisfying. The morning bun is a cross between a croissant and a kouign amann for me. I will be visiting again.

Came here for brunch a couple times and always loved the ambiance! You line up to order food and get pastries in the front before finding your own table. Even when theres a line the line moves relatively quickly. Theres enough seating indoors and quite a large outdoor patio. I've mostly come on weekday mornings and never had issues getting a table. The brunch menu is kind of small but everything is tasty (although overpriced). The tarts and brownies are absolutely delicious. Would recommend parking on the street (theres free or metered street parking nearby) instead of in the lot ($~20).
Horrible service at the register - ordered a tuna sandwich
Horrible service at the register - ordered a tuna sandwich & asked the woman ringing me up for mustard on the side. She claimed they don't have mustard however we asked the bus boy who brought our meal for mustard and he brought it out. Separately ordered iced early grey tea, but she also claimed they didn't have it iced, only hot even though it's on their menu....Very disappointed by the cashier's behavior, lack of knowledge and abrasiveness. She ruined my experience here - I've been many times before & never had such a poor interaction.
I love tartine.
The morning bun is the perfect blend of sweetness and cardamon. Flakey and chewy in the best way. A fantastic pastry overall. Their bread is phenomenal, I like the country loaf. I had a basic egg, bacon, bread breakfast item here once and it was delicious. This location has a small parking lot, not much street parking cause it's in a busy corner. It is a stunning building that resembles a small church/chapel. My coworker told me though that it was a crematorium before. So maybe it's the same oven which adds a lot of flavor. Their garden seating is very much a vibe.

Very happy to have management come to my rescue when a big smelly poodle and the dog's owner sat next me in the inside alcove that leads to the outdoor seating area. Tartine staff were firm in reiterating pets are only allowed outside and I was able to sit at my table and enjoy my delicious one-shot oatmilk latte after they were escorted out. Some people have the gall to lie and call their obviously non-service animals a service animal and moan about how far their car is to have to go retrieve their proof from the dashboard! Thank you Tartine for saving spaces for clientele who want pet-free areas for dining. Please post a notice above all three tables in the alcove that pets are not allowed because people with pets do sit there, hiding their pets from service staff due to a wall structure that blocks staff's view to the alcove. The separately boxed Linzer cookies and chocolate buckwheat cookies we got to-go were very tasty and much appreciated at our family luncheon later in the day.
Too darling not to share/spread the word about this bakery.
It was the summer salad that won my taste buds. The salad defined what a summer salad should taste and feel like - cool, crisp, refreshing at every bite!! The giant beans were fun. The turkey club on their multigrain was light! The bread was to die for!! Loved every bite of the turkey club as well. It's a no frill sandwich... that bread though. Wanted it to be a tad bigger in portion because I'm a Texan, but the bread made it more forgiving. Didn't think Tartine would have a flavorful burger, but the kiddos enjoyed it. The celery remoulade sauce and fennel confit were nice touches to the burger. Very inventive! I can't wait to go back and try the other appetizing dishes - french toast and smoked salmon tartine.
Beautiful brunch cafe with spacious indoor and outdoor
Beautiful brunch cafe with spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas. The food is crafted beautifully and with amazing, unique ingredients, hence the price. The customer service is very friendly and patient, and they still manage to bring out the food in a timely manner. I look forward to coming back to try different things! Things I have tried: -- Lemon Curd Tart (7/10): hard, crumbly, and pretty dry, even for a tart. Still enjoyed the balance between sweetness and acidity in the curd though! -- Cornmeal Teacake (5/10): did not like the texture or flavors but really interesting concept. -- Seasonal Savory Danish (5/10): could not finish it; was really filling but I didn't enjoy the flavors. -- Smoked Salmon Tartine (8/10): amazing, fresh flavors. You cannot go wrong with smoked salmon! -- Avocado Toast (9/10): BEST DISH out of all. The micro greens added a subtle, refreshing taste. Seasoned perfectly and super unique! -- Assorted pickle plate (8/10): you won't be able to find this at just any brunch cafe. Definitely a great dish to have on the side to munch on in addition to a tartine!
Cute little cafe with really good bread.
Great spot for a light and fresh meal. The berry tart was the perfect amount of sweetness, with really fresh berries . The smoked salmon tartine was great. I love the whipped cream cheese and pickled onion. Food comes out really fast, service is great, and they have a cute outdoor seating set up.
I had the salmon open faced sandwich and it was delicious.
The pastries seemed amazing but I was repelled by the prices. If you work nearby, this is an easy choice for a delicious lunch. However, having to deal with driving there and paying for parking as well the the high prices isn't worth it for me. I enjoyed the food but won't be back anytime soon.
Very cool spot.
Indoor/outdoor spaces, dog friendly. Great place to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon. Busy but not super crowded. We had the turkey sandwich, salmon tartine and their citrus salad. Food looked very pretty, like we all just stared at it and didn't want to mess it up! Turkey club had this crispy chicken skin instead of bacon and it was really good. I almost don't want to ever go back to bacon. Overall great place for family hang. Babies kids dogs all welcome.

Got the quiche, which was well put together but not super remarkable. The side salad was rather small and wasn't quite enough to pair effectively with the slice of quiche. I wouldn't have been able to tell you that it was a mushroom veggie quiche with how little there was in it. The show stopper was for sure the danish, which was super buttery with a sweet filling, and featured perfectly ripe raspberries paired with pistachios. I loved how flakey and pretty the danish was, which leads me to mostly recommend the pastries over the meals. The venue was super cute with a solvang-esque vibe to the building and outdoor patios. The are lots of seats but many were filled with how busy the place was when we went. We did manage to snag a spot and got to take a stroll around the outdoor patio. I'd definitely come again, though note that parking can be a bit of a pain. We got lucky with street parking but your mileage may vary
Delicious breakfast, really recommend the Smoked Salmon
Delicious breakfast, really recommend the Smoked Salmon Tartine! There's really cute cottage style outdoor and indoor seating. The baked goods and fresh coffee smelled AMAZING and the staff was friendly and quick!
My friends and I were excited to come.
As they say you pay for your food, you pay for the experience. As beautiful Tartine is and as delicious their coconut cream pie is, their service was not it.
Love the food - sandwiches are delicious.
Taste fresh! Pastries.. yummy! Service is great - the cashier was very sweet and a staff waiter/helper saw me struggling with my baby, holding a bag, coffee, etc.. and came to help me out... very sweet! The place is roomy, lots of tables indoor or outdoor. simple and cute.

Just treated myself to a matcha latte with regular milk and was surprised to see the cost was $7.99. I figured the size of the cup OR the method of making the matcha (traditional whisking method which takes some time) would be enough to justify the price, but the latte came out immediately (likely indicating it's a pre-mix matcha) in a tiny cup, as big as my palm. I drank it in probably less than 10 sips. Tartine is an adorable restaurant & has great food, but this is a ridiculous price for a tiny drink.

It has a friendly but crowded environment but can't complain it is in middle of Santa Monica. Food is above average and nothing really stand out to me. I can make better more flavorful sourdough bread than what they offered. Smoked salmon is not bad. Price is about average.
Food was fresh and service was quick despite the long lines.
Friendly fun atmosphere!
The surprising brunch.
I was surprised by the long line to order. What I didn't expect was the low quality of the sandwiches given the price of them. For 2 lattes and 2 sandwiches for my wife and I, $40. You can a have a wonderful lunch for two, with wine and desser for the same price in a posh place in Madrid, Spain.
Fetch bakery experience in the heart of Santa Monica.
Tasty pastries and croissants are very flaky and done right. Hot chocolate was very different and tasted great.
I had pick up duties at LAX, so I decided to go to Tartine
I had pick up duties at LAX, so I decided to go to Tartine in Santa Monica, for lunch before heading to the airport. In order to get there from the SFV, one has to get onto Wilshire Blvd., West and even though it's just a few miles off, it takes forever. Chocking traffic everywhere. It is definitely a challenge to get there if you count the stop and go on 405. When I got to my destination, the parking lot was full so I had to circle the block a few times to get street parking. There was a line outside the door, but it moved fast. However, I found the male staff who took the order and the ones who brought the order to the table to be unfriendly no greeting no hello no acknowledgment that you were even there. My table was dirty and he came back to clean after delivering the food, as if he was doing me a favor. The menu is very limited, but there are good selections. Similarly, the baked goods in the cases were also few, but looked delicious. I had the smoked salmon tartine. It was a nice presentation that was also well assembled. The toast had a good crunch and freshness to it and it blended well with the salmon, pickled onion, pickled mustard seeds, whipped cream, cheese, and dill. I think they should've left out pickled lemon that came with the dish. Tartine had ample seating outside and limited seating inside. The place is very popular and while I was there, there was always a line to order the food. Will have to drum up some extra courage to battle the traffic of to get there, if and when I decide to pay them a return visit.
I've been wanting to go here for a long time.
The line moves quickly. The food tasted great. The outdoor seating area is beautiful. This place is dog friendly so it's a big plus. Will be going back for sure.

Avery small sandwich with bacon and nothing more $20 --- rediculous! Good food great taste, very expensive.
This was our second visit to Tartine, and Tartine hit all
This was our second visit to Tartine, and Tartine hit all the right boxes. We ordered pastries and coffee. The scone, savory roll, croissant and morning bun all were fresh and tasting wonderful. We enjoy every bite. Weather was so nice we sat in garden area outside. Overall inside and outside were very clean and well kept. Counter employees were really helpful and polite. All and all our experience were five star attempt. I will come back next time when I in LA.
Tartine really is such a lovely little spot.
From the very cool interior to the spacious garden exterior, it's a delight to eat here every time. I'm especially fond of their cafe au lait, and when paired with any one of their delicious pastries - a chocolate croissant or some lemon poppyseed tea cake, in my case - it's a real treat. Parking can be somewhat contentious. There's a paid lot where most folks end up parking, I imagine, and some sparse street parking shared with a few other local spots. Still, they validate, so if you're just looking for a quick bite, chances are good you'll be in and out - and with a full stomach - in no time.
I adore Tartine this place always hits no matter what.
I love to come here and sit outside and do work while enjoying a coffee. Also, the celeb sightings here go crazy! My friends and I one time saw Owen Wilson! I really like their yogurt bowl and their ice vanilla lattes. It's an order and then sit situation, which is nice. There also is a parking lot which is a slay and they validate! Love this place
My friend and I stopped here for coffee on a Friday morning.
The line went out the door, but it moved fast. I got a drip coffee, and my friend got an American and a ham and cheese croissant. I've had their pastries before, and the ones that I've tried are very good. Their presentation is always incredible. The service was okay; the staff seemed a bit stressed due to the business. The inside of the cafe is beautiful; it looks like it's inside of an old church.
So delicious! Loved the indoor outdoor seating options.
Not too long of a wait, but worth it because of how fresh and delicious it is!
