Zen
I was given some selections of tea from Tea Bone Zen, they were fabulous, with aroma that I have never smelt before. So after having finished all of them, I went looking for Tea Bone Zen in Emerald Hill Road to get some more. To my surprise, outside the shop, there was no sign. I thought I have went to the wrong place until I called the number of the shop, and a lady answered me telling me I was at the right place. You can get from this description that the place is not meant to be in the hustle and bustle of things, but is meant to be quiet and meditative.
Inside the shop, the decor was contemplative and subdued, full of wood. They serve tea there and also sell their specialty teas.
It's a wonderful place to visit.
Excellent tea selection
Chanced upon this tea shop, very zen environment and serene environment.
Tea is very nice especially Lychee Oolong.
Love it.
The finest boutique afternoon tea!
Emerald Hill is a conservation area of Singapore (it’s like finding Cotswolds thatch cottages in oxford) - a row of picture postcard charming converted shop houses.
This boutique teahouse offers three teas, accompanied with the most delectable local delicacies curated with “Michelin” meticulous thought. We are not large eaters, so after all our snacks and 3 teas it felt like a light lunch, however if you were still hungry you can order additional items.
When I say boutique, it’s like being welcomed into an exquisite/exclusive home for brunch/afternoon tea …vs… the “high street” shop!. Caroline and her team warmly greet you, and it certainly makes for a very relaxing afternoon - a respite from the Singapore humidity, a short walk off the contrasting Orchard Road (equivalent of Regent St),
There is meticulous attention to detail, from the tea experience, décor, the art gallery, the range of beautiful ceramics, the beautifully packaged/wrapped purchases - even the receipt is written in mandarin which makes for a boutique souvenir in itself!
Many thanks especially to Caroline for her knowledge on the provenance of the teas - she makes the visit an experience.
We have been living in Singapore for sometime, and had only discovered Tea Bone Zen Mind from tasting their Lychee Oolong at the Ritz Carlton Summer Pavilion (another recommendation). We have dined twice, in February and again in May for a friend’s birthday. The private room made for a lovely celebration.
Enjoy!
An oasis of calm
An oasis of calm hidden in the middle of orchard road. Lovely ambience and delicious teas. Highly recommended.

This is more gallery than tea house, to display and sample the teas the proprietor brings in for upmarket brands in Europe . From the historical building to the carefully curated ceramics to the pairings, every detail is thoughtful . Book ahead and allow two hours!

The storefront doesn’t have any signage, so it’s easy to miss walking up Emerald Hill. It’s a beautiful house with the tatami rooms upstairs and sofas downstairs to enjoy tea sampling. To start, we had oolong tea with apple accompanied by pretzels, bugles and rice crackers. The second oolong tea was accompanied by crab meat, fish roe, bean curd, and a soy sauce boiled egg. Super yummy. Lastly, the mandarin pu’er tea was complemented by a biscuit and mochi. Appreciated the relaxing atmosphere and the great attention to detail in presenting such quality tea.
